Speaker 1 (00:04):
I have News Radio fifteen eighty one hundred point nine
FM and on your iHeartRadio app. This is the CDBIA Hour.
Your host Donna Barrett is off this week in for her.
It's Carlene's Itach's Carlen. How you doing good?
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Thank you?
Speaker 1 (00:23):
And what's going on at the CDBIA. What are you
guys doing. You've got big events and stuff coming up.
Tell us all about it.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Yeah, So we have a remodeling and building show coming
up on Saturday, November eighth, from ten am to five pm.
We're holding that at the Port Charlotte Town Center and
we've got some great things in the works.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
And you brought some people to tell us all about it.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
I did. This is the committee that is putting together
the remodeling show. And again, my name is Carlene zeach As.
I'm from the Interior Decorations and we are all here
today representing the Charlotte DeSoto Building Industry Association or cdb
i A.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
And to my right, my name is Triny Cassa and
I'm come from Custom Pools by Precision helping with the
committee to put the show on.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
And I'm Colin mcvetty. You guys would always come on out.
It's going to be a great time, great opportunity. No,
I'm Caitlin Barrett with the cdb I A.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
So tell us all about the event and how you guys,
why did you choose the Portrella Town Center.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Well, to give you a little history about I may
get this wrong exactly, but about eight years ago or so,
CDBIA actually used to host a remodeling show for the public,
and due to the downturn and series of events through
the years, we're kind of resurrecting it as an event
(02:04):
for our organization. Our particular hook though, that sets us
apart from maybe the other home remodeling shows is that
this we are specifically vetting our vendors, contractors and tradespeople
for licensing. In other words, everybody that is participating in
(02:28):
this particular show has been vetted for proper licensing in
their field if it's required. We also, in addition to
various vendors being a part of the event, we also
have some other governmental organizations that are going to participate
(02:49):
in the event. We have the Department of Business and
Professional Regulation. These are the state folks that actually enforce
the licensing and contract laws, and these are the folks
that actually go after unlicensed contractors when they're reported.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
Excellent and uh, Trina, you gotta you guys gonna move
a pool into the uh.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Oh, I would love to do that. We will be
having gifts, giveaways and exclusive discounts for people at the show,
So we will be having you know, pool cleaner, anything
else that we have as donations, which we're still looking
for donations for the prizes. Anybody who wants to still
(03:35):
register and the show is free for all the entire community.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Yeah, there's going to be a lot going on at
the show too.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
There's also going to be a nice student build competition.
So if you guys are in high school sixteen years
or older and you want to come out and see
how you can do building, coming out and sign up
for a team is a five hundred dollars prize too.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
There you go. It's great to uh that the see
how the CDB helps to get the youth involved in
the trades. I mean it's just going to make them.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah, I think we consider it an investment for the
future of the construction industry. For many many years, as
you know, every students were always encouraged to go to college.
Well that left the gap in folks that actually can
do trade work. And you know, now there's a resurrection
and a renaissance of reviving the trade programs again. And
(04:31):
so we very much are active in outreaching to the
community to encourage young people to come into the trades
and come into the construction industry.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Excellent, excellent. We got to take our first break and
we'll be right back with more on news Radio fifteen eighty.
There's Radio fifteen eighty one hundred point nine FM WCCF
(05:04):
seven forty four. On a Friday morning, you're listening to
the Cdbia hour and in for Donna Barrett, it's Carlene's Eaches. Carleen.
We're talking about the home building and Remodeling show show
me the license presented by Elite Hurricane Protection, and that's
(05:25):
coming up when November eighth, right.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Correct, November eighth, ten to five pm.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
And there's going to be live demonstrations.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Yeah, so we have the event itself is from ten
to five, as I mentioned, but throughout that day we
are going to be having presentations and programs on our
main stage and starting at about ten thirty. We don't
have our full program schedule yet, but it will be
available on our website as we get closer to the
(05:56):
event at cdbia dot com. And our major sponsors, of course,
will be speaking about their respective businesses and the products
they have that will help homeowners with remodeling or hurricane protection.
Elite Hurricane Protection is one of our sponsors, and D
(06:16):
and D Garage Doors and Gates is another one of
our major sponsors. We also and Colton's going to talk
a little bit about this the student build competition and
again that is open to any student and he'll talk
about that sixteen year older also in the program. During
(06:37):
the day, we are going to have hourly drawings and
a grand prize drawing at four thirty. And the hourly
drawings you do need to be present to win, but
the grand prize drawing you do not need to be
present to win. And again those that will be published
on our website as well as we get closer.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
That's cdbia dot org, dot com dot com.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yeah, you got it. So I'll let Culton talk a
little bit about the student competition and what we're hoping
to do there.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Yeah, it's just like an amish thing. They're putting up
a barn or something, right, No, it's.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
Kind of a lot like that. So if you got
just got to come in, no prep, no plans, just
bring your raw creativity, have some teamwork. It's gonna be
a team of two, so make sure you bring a
friend and some hands on skills.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Get out there.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
We're gonna have a little pantry full of materials. So
coming out, we're gonna start it. Ride about twelve o'clock.
Go into the pantry, pick out your materials and let's
see what you can build. Have some fun with it. So,
like I said, it's gonna be teams of two. Just
come on out. We're gonna have a panel of judges.
So at the end of the three hours from twelve
to three, the panel of judges is gonna go through
what everybody built based on their creativity, the functionality, and
(07:47):
the overall design. Then we're gonna announce a winner, and
that winner is gonna have the opportunity to win five
hundred dollars.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Do you think said they don't have wood shop anymore?
Do they? I don't know. I don't I had it
in Ja high. Yeah, in a.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
Group of this right out to do anything like that,
I did not have it. Growing all right?
Speaker 1 (08:06):
That well, This is gonna be cool though, So any
student what like junior high in high school.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
This student bill competition is specifically for sixteen year olds
or older parents. Don't fret. We're gonna have some opportunities
for the younger kids as well. So bring them on out.
Let them come on out and try their hand to
building some little birdhouses or other activities, which is going
to be sponsored.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
By Lows Lows for pros.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
There we go, There we go. Awesome, very good. That
sounds like kicking the butt. And what what's the winner?
What's the winner get?
Speaker 4 (08:33):
For the sixteen up, they're going to get five hundred
hundred dollars cashee.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
That have to be present if they're under eighteen.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
Right, if they're under eighteen.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yeah, yes, we have a waiver.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Yeah, it's limited to ten spots.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
It is so twenty people total. Make your teams come
on out, first.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Come first, serve to win five hundred dollars. I don't
know how you make that much money at that age.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
I'll picture there's some kids out there that can probably
do something pretty good. Right now. There's lots they seem
because it's just yeah with that and a lot of
parents love doing the di ys and the kids wind
up getting involved in that. And I think it's great
because again we need more we need more people in
the trades.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
And they're gonna have a lot of random stuff to use.
There's no telling what's going to be on those tables.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
There's gonna be people there to help as well.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
So yeah, we wood, shingles, tile, glue, nails, et cetera,
et cetera.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Nice, nice, and uh uh kids stuff too.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
The lows for pros is probably they are bringing it
stuff there and they're going to be working the table
with the with the children. Parents of course have to
be present. I think it might be like a birdhouse
or something.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
Little kids some sort. Yeah, I think they'll be age
appropriate for younger children, and they'll have all the supplies
there for sure.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
And they should be standing right there with the children helping.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
And discounts. What's this exclusive one day discounts? What's that?
What are we getting?
Speaker 3 (10:14):
Well, probably there is discounts through an Anybody that is
having a booth will probably offer discounts for whatever they
are selling.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Of course, awesome, Probably show specials.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
And tips for new construction, remodels.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
Panels, panel discussions too.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
Yeah, as I said, we're still finalizing a lot of
our programming, but as soon as we have more concrete
things lined up, we'll be publishing that awesome.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
We're also looking for more people to who want to
come out and be in there and get boosts of
their own So if you're a business owner, you want
to highlight your business, your license or even not a
contractor you want to highlight what else you do, come
on out. We're open to have anybody as long as
you are able to do what you do.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
You do not have to be a member of CDBAI
to participate in this show.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
There you go. Yeah, so you can still And why
wouldn't you be a member of the CDBI training you've
been you guys have been a member? Yeahs and fool.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
A member.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Has definitely helped our business, but it also has helped
we also do it a lot for the community and
not just you know, getting more work, because helping the
community in Charlotte County is just as important as getting
more work.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
And CDBIA does a lot in my community too.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
We're very big scholarship award awarders. I think we've probably
awarded twenty thousand dollars or more in scholarships per year.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
Yeah, that sounds about right. So we do at least
twenty thousand, gen it's a little more.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Like thirty yeah, yeah, yeah. And that's to any anybody
in the construction field, from you know, decorating to architects
to lawyers. I mean, it's any single person in any
kind of part of the construction, not just building a house.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
So if you guys at the high schooler is coming
on out to do this build competition, don't forget to
ask about those scholarships for college if you're looking in
that route, or even if you wanted to go to
trade school.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
And how are the local trade schools doing?
Speaker 3 (12:20):
I actually think from what I've heard, I mean, they're
doing really good. They're getting a lot more students in there,
you know, from the high school itself. It's just it's
I think it's probably a transition, getting people used to
knowing that when they're sixteen and seventeen that they can
actually start something like that and be prepared when they
(12:40):
go to leave leave high school instead of waiting till
they're eighteen.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
And making good money too.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Right exactly, at eighteen, you can start making money as
much as people are making it twenty five right now
if you already have that schooling down, which the votech
offers that awesome.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
So tell us more about your business, Carly Well, I'm a.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Full service interior design firm specializing in model home decoration,
builder services, and residential interior design. I've been in business
thirty five years, not all in Florida, just fifteen in Florida.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
Where else.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
I'm from Ohio. Originally I'm a buck Eye right now
Columbus Clubs, yeah, yeah, yeah. And so I started my
career actually in the corporate world and started my business
on the side years and years ago, and then eventually
(13:42):
left that and pursued interior design full time.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
Awesome, and now in Trina.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Custom Pools by Precision.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
You guys have been around for it's probably.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Been like twenty nine years, almost thirty years in the community,
and started it of course thirty years ago, and I
came into the business right afterwards, and I've loved it
ever since. Of course, there's always those days, but the
(14:14):
construction industry has definitely been good to us, and we've
had a lot of wonderful customers.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Excellent huh.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
Well, I have a lot of ties and loyalty to
this community. I work for Warton Smith Construction. We're a
premier commercial contractor doing a lot of government work. We
do a lot of the fire stations, police stations, and
schools in the area. And then I also have a
lot of ties to like Murdock Stones, who is one
of our sponsors for this event. Yeah, and then also
Charlotte County Sea Walls.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Oh know them both excellent excellent? Well good, well, we
still got a few more minutes to kill. So what
else is going on? Guess what? Guess what today is?
We do this usually every day a National whole hog
Barbecue Day. It is National exhale Day.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
Let's take a second.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Why are we holding our National no beard Day? That's
not gonna end? National Sweetest Day? Do something sweet celebrated
every day? We all know this, and just to back
it up with something sweet National Chocolate Cupcake Day.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
And you don't have any.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
I no, I don't, I didn't know. I'm just looking
this up now that we got time to kill. So
once again we're talking about the Home Building and Remodeling Show.
It's presented by Elite Hurricane Protection. It's coming up November eighth,
ten to five pm at the Port Charlotte Town Center mall.
They just call it the Port Charlotte Town Center. Now
(15:48):
we can't call it them all but open to the public.
And again they're still looking for sponsors and people that
would like to have booths throughout the day and tell
us more about that. How do they get in touch?
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Yeah, so you can call our CDBI eight office directly
and that phone number is nine four one six two
five zero eight zero four and the CDBIA office is
located at one seventy nine eight four Toledo Blade Road
(16:28):
in Port Charlotte. I guess it's Toledo Blade Boulevard. Sorry,
but any of the office staff there can help you
with getting signed up and situated and we'd love to
have you. You can give us a call. You can
also go to the cdbia dot com website and you
can click on a link there to register for a booth.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
Come on out, promote your business, build new relationships, help
gain visibility to your business in front of a lot
of hopefully high interest homeowners who are looking for licensed,
trusted professionals right here from this community.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
You still got people dealing with, you know, insurance claims
and stuff, and they might be looking for someone when
they finally do get their money right, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
And they know this one will everybody there will be
licensed and looking out for their best interests instead of
looking out for their own.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
And I think we've read in the newspaper or heard
in the news locally here of some disreputable contractors taking
advantage of people taking deposits and not doing work. And
I think that the CDBIA imparts a level of professionalism.
(17:44):
And again, as Trina mentioned, we are all our people
will have been screening for their licenses so that if
you are a homeowner and you want to come out
and talk to some people who can do the type
of work you need done for hurricane repair. Maybe you're
just ready for a remodel. These are the tradespeople that
(18:06):
I think would represent the cream of the crop, if
you will, and folks that you could trust.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
There you go, and it's all coming up November eighth,
ten to five at the Portcharllottetown Center, the CDBI A
Show Me the License, Home Building and Remodeling Show. And
we've got top of the hour news traffic coming up,
and we'll be back with more right here on news
Radio fifteen eighty News Radio fifteen eighty one hundred point
(18:48):
nine FM, w Ccfradio dot com and on your iHeartRadio app.
You're listening to the Cdbia Hour. Your host, Donna Barrett
is an absconded has left the area. Where is she
this week? I forgot, she told me, but I forgot.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
She's out full conference.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Fall conference. That's right, that's right, that's right, and in
her steed. Carlene Zeitch's is here and we're talking about
the home building and Remodeling show. The show me the
license brought to you by the CDBI, A Elite Hurricane
protection and others. And tell us more about your sponsors.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Sure, we have many many different businesses represented that'll be
at the show. We'll name a few here throughout. Birch's
air Conditioning and Heating, CASA Pools, the Charlotte County Community Development,
Charlotte Technical College, and Custom Pools by Precision. And one
(19:58):
thing we wanted to mention and in regards to attendees
that may come to the mall to check out some
of these businesses. Our actual booth area is going to
be located between the food court. If you're familiar with
the Port Charlotte Town Center mall between the food court
and the movie theater. Primarily, it's where we'll be concentrated.
(20:21):
And we'll have a main stage located in what used
to be the old Macy's area, and that's where all
our presentations will occur. And that's where the student building
competition will show their final projects to be judged.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
And just follow the sound of the hammers.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
Yeah, exactly, let's see what else. Oh, Also, we will
have ask a Pro Corner, a free kind of ten
minute question and answer with contractors or inspectors or designers
where homeowners and folks interested in specific topics can sit
(21:09):
down at a table with someone and ask some specific
questions and maybe get some free advice.
Speaker 4 (21:15):
Bring your ideas, I bring your ideas on in and
get inspired by local experts and contractors who are ready
to help bring whatever dream project.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
You have to life.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
Yeah it's a great idea.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
Yeah. I mean, if you're looking to do a DIY project,
this be a great day to come, you know, check
out all these people and talk to them.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
I would say that they should make sure to think
about taking a picture of their area that they're wanting
to remodel or wanting to have questions about Yeah, great,
bring in to ask them and show them so they
can instead of just trying to explain it.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
Yeah, bringing in some pictures and your ideas and get
some advice from those who do it every day.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
There you go. Awesome.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
We also got some more sponsor. We're going to highlight
real queer. We've got D and D garage doors and gates,
Elite Hurricane home protection again, DBPR, Final Touch counters and
Galloway roofing. And then don't forget everybody. We got that
student build competition. We're trying to get teams of two
for all the high school students who are sixteen years
(22:19):
and up to come on out and win a grand
prize of five hundred dollars cash. Bring your ideas, bring
some creativity, and get a hammer in some wood and
see what you can do.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
That is, I think is going to be the funnest
thing to see.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
I think that as well. That and we got the
little kid area as well, where the Low's pros are
coming on out and they're going to build something probably
something like a bird house. Have some fun. Get the
parents in there with the little kids and let's see
what they can build as well.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Yeah, and really for your di wires. This is a
great place to come and get questions answered, yeah, and
to try tricks to the trade, to.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Try and help people get around to each of our
vendors that'll have booths there. We'd like the people to
check at our welcome booth. And at our welcome booth
you'll be given a bag that you can put all
your little goodies in. You'll have a lanyard, and then
we're also going to give you what's called a passport,
and it's a piece of paper that you can go
(23:13):
around to each of the booths and have it stamped
or signed, and that signifies that you've made the circuit,
if you will, and that's actually what qualifies you to
be to have an entry into all of our drawings.
So once you've completed and you've seen everything you want
to see and you want to submit your passport, you'll
(23:34):
put it in the box for the drawing. Again, the
hourly drawings, you do need to be there to win,
and we'll pull until we find somebody there present, but
all of them will be retained for our grand prize
drawing at four point thirty, and you do not have
to be present for that particular drawing. We will get
(23:56):
a hold of you. If you don't happen to be there.
Speaker 4 (23:59):
Don't forget. If you come on out, there's going to
be live demonstrations, a bunch of giveaways, contractor boosts, kids
zone activities, energy saving and home maintenance tips, and panel
discussions with all the industry experts.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
And if you're a licensed contractor, this is a great
place to come. Check out the CDBIA and what they
do and become a member.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Yeah, come on out, promote your business, build new relationships
with a bunch of CDBIA members, learn what it's all about,
and hopefully join.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
There are a lot of benefits to membership. I know
a couple of the perks that I use extensively lows
for pros. For instance, we get a percentage discount and
then there's also a further discount when you get your
monthly statement, so that can add up to some significant savings.
(24:48):
Your membership and our local organization also gets you membership
into the state level organization, the FHBA, as well as
the national organization and AHB for any Yeah, there's way
too many letters involved here, and there are national programs
for shipping like ups or card discounts.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Through I think the Mobile is one of them.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Mobile is another one. You know Ford Nissan used to
have one. So if you have a fleet or something,
this can add up to major dollar savings for you.
And those those kind of deals are negotiated at the
national level, so you're you could actually pay for your
membership just with savings. Also at the state level, if
(25:37):
you remember, you can participate in HbA rebates program. And
this is if if you are a builder or a
contractor or a tradesperson that uses specific materials and I'll
just give you an example, if you use like Delta
products or Mowen plumbing products, you can apply for rebates
through our organization and quarter on a quarterly basis and
(26:01):
add to your income stream that way. So again, many
many opportunities for savings as well as you know, the
visibility of kind of setting yourself apart from the competition
in that you've joined a professional organization. You're associated with
a group of people who are professional and there's great
(26:24):
camaraderie in our group.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
Yeah, so come on out, come to the show me
the license show, get a booth and then see what
we're all about. And then also for everybody else who's
not a business owner, come on out and come check
us out that way.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
All right, we got to take our first break or
third break. Really, we'll be back after this on news
Radio fifteen eighty News Radio fifteen eighty one hundred point
nine FM WCCF eight seventeen here and you're listening to
the CDBI a hour and in for Donna Barrett, Carlen's
(27:02):
each's Carlen.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
Hi there. We're here today to tell everybody about our
show me the License Home Building and Remodeling Show again.
That is Saturday, November eighth. It's from ten to five pm.
We're going to be at the Port Charlotte Town Center
Mall and we're going to be located Our booth spaces
(27:24):
are going to be located between the food court and
the movie theater if you're familiar with the mall, and
our stage is going to be located in the old
Macy space. And we love for all of you to
come out and visit us and visit our contractors and
trades people and business people who will have booths at
the event. They're there to talk to you, help you
(27:46):
with any project, answer any questions you may have, and
some of our booth people are.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
Some of our sponsors that we've gotten already are Greenscapes Innovations,
Integrity Electric of Charlotte County, Lows Ltd Contracting, Murdoch Stone,
My Home Service pros PLC Closets, and Wristo Roofing. They
(28:17):
will all be there and ready for you to answer
any of your questions.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
And they'll probably have like you know, little pens and
shotch keys and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
Oh yeah, all the little in your goodie bag, probably
candy two.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Oh yeah, that's right. Hallo. There you go.
Speaker 2 (28:34):

Take a picture of what you want to do.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
And speaking of.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
Kids, yes, and then we have a kid zone that
is sponsored by Low's for Pros where all the young
kids will be able to come in and build from
a kit that they bring in with the parents president
of course, and the kids get to take home their
construction project. They said, I think it's a birdhouse, but
(30:40):
it'll definitely be a little kit that they get to
take home with them.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
Nice.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Got to start them young, Yeah, get them interested, get
them excited. And some of our other vendors and booths
are S seven Solar, so if you're interested in maybe
investigating Solar and or that might be for you. Trademark Roofing,
True Fence and trueex Preferred Construction Company. So we're excited
(31:12):
to have all of those folks involved in our event.
We're excited to have you come out and see us.
We're hoping that this will become an annual event for
us and the event will continue to grow in the future.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
We are all here to help the community and make
sure that people are not out there, you know, damaging
the the reputation of the construction workers that are here
for the commun.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
That always tends to happen after a you know, a hurricane,
and folks, you can log onto cdbia dot com and
go through their whole member directory. If you are looking
to hire someone and you're getting a you can call
the cdb i A and get a reference, you know.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
For Yes, anybody that is a member is one percent
license if the license is required and completely checked over.
If they were a person that has you know, a
bunch of bad things and all that kind of stuff.
I mean, it is definitely. The CDBA watches every member.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
And some of our speakers in the program, I'm told
maybe addressing also things such as insurance. I know everybody's
are a lot of people in the community have struggled
with insurance claims. How to go about having work done
after you get your insurance settlement, and we will have
(32:36):
resources there to talk about those sorts of things as well.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
Excellent. Have you ever had walked into a real hideous
interior design? Yes, what's the worst one?
Speaker 4 (32:54):
There was carpet on the ceiling, walls and floor.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
Oh, there you go.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
Calton's got maybe.
Speaker 4 (33:01):
Dark musky orange.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Elvis's jungle room it was worse.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
I've seen Elvis's Jungle room and it was worse.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
Wow, yes, carpet on the scene. There must have been musicians, right, Nope, no, nope, Wow, Okay,
just had a lot of extra carpet. What do we
do with this? Nobody wants to buy it?
Speaker 2 (33:25):
That's no good, that's no bueno.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
No.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
Well, we can't wait to see everybody out there and
anybody that is interested in becoming a sponsor. Still we
have booths available. Still, we have two of our main
sponsors available. Still, if you're interested at all, please call
the CDBA office. They're open from eight to five Monday
through Friday.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
All Right, you still got four minutes to kill kids.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
Okay, all right, what else can we have?
Speaker 3 (33:56):
Carlton can probably.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
Talk about how do people get ahold of you? At
your business?
Speaker 2 (34:01):
So I actually my primary form of advertising is on
the app called How's h o U z Z and
there people can find my profiles Z Interior Decorations. And again,
I primarily specialize in residential interior design, and we I
(34:24):
do everything from working with builders and helping their clients
make selections. For instance, if they're building a new home,
it's a daunting process to pick out all of the
surfaces and materials when you're building a new home, there's
probably a thousand decisions that need to be made, and
(34:45):
folks sometimes start out thinking they can handle it, and
then it kind of rapidly evolves into everything builds off
of the previous decision, and then it starts getting scarycurse
over it.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
Yes, I have been mediating before.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
WHOA, Yeah, yeah, I've had to do that as long.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
As it takes these days. Yeah, I could understand that.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
People argue over any kind of a construction, choosing colors,
choosing this, choosing couches.
Speaker 4 (35:12):
So definitely come on out and meet other people who
can do this for you. That's the trade show.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
Show me the mediate your arguments.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
Yeah exactly, so, yeah we did so. New homes obviously
is an area of expertise, and then also remodeling, So
folks may have purchased a home that's already built, maybe
it needs some updates. You know, there's a lot of
homes here built in the seventies and eighties and nineties
that can use some help, and that that can also
(35:42):
be a daunting process because what people will typically find
out is they may start remodeling and then oops, you
can't move that wall or ups there's plumbing in the
concrete they can't get moved, or you know eight million
other things that you need help with a workaround. Yeah,
and so that's where somebody like me can help you.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
And Carlen will definitely be at the show.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Yes, we'll be there running around and Trina, you guys
got pool pools of all sizes.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
Yes, all sizes, and we build from charlottee the entire
Charlotte County area. Of course we do venture out, but.
Speaker 1 (36:22):
At the trade shows, what's the what's the big deal now?
In pools?
Speaker 3 (36:27):
You know, I mean water bowls, fire bowls. But to
be honest with you, we do specialize in doing anything
that customer wants. But you know, this economy that we
all live in right now, you know, it's just building
them a pool that they can enjoy with their family
and actually be able to afford. It is what I
(36:49):
really like to specialize in.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
There you go, what's the biggest pool you've ever built?
Speaker 3 (36:55):
I think it was like sixty feet long, and he
used it as a lap pool, and he happened to
have a lot of of course he had a bigger property. Yeah,
and he did even put the swim lanes into too
nice nice.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
I would I would love to have something like that.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
Yeah, yeah, I just you know, pools can definitely add
to the house for fun, but it's just all about
family being in the pool and being able to enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
It is and once again, folks, CDBIA Show Me the License.
Home Building and Remodeling Show presented by Elite Hurricane Protection
and more coming up November eighth, ten am to five
pm at the Port Charlottetown Center. Live demonstrations, giveaways, contractor booths,
panel discussions, home maintenance tips, kid zone activities, The Team

appreciate your time.
Speaker 3 (38:05):
