>> Jonathan (00:07):
You guys that just hit play.
Thanks for giving us support on this beautiful
Thursday here, wherever you are, you're listening
to chase and birdies pep.
I'm running out of things to say to you, bud. This is three weeks in a
row.
>> RB (00:21):
Three weeks in a row. But it feels good. Back to back
weeks.
>> Jonathan (00:24):
Yeah.
>> RB (00:25):
just giving the people what they want, you know?
>> Jonathan (00:27):
And it's like you just. You laugh at my
intro, what I say, what I don't say. So I switched it up a little
bit for you, threw you with a little curve ball.
Sounded good, and, ah, I love it. My
son, again. Yeah, thanks.
>> RB (00:40):
I love it.
And as always, today's episode is
brought to you by. Red Vanley. Bud, you got
some new swag, huh? Jim came through.
Let's go.
>> Speaker C (00:50):
Good.
>> RB (00:51):
Look good. so go over to redvanley.com,
check them out. I had a little golf
trip this weekend, bud.
>> Jonathan (00:59):
you know, I've heard you mention this a couple of times,
and, you know, it's
when you have a best friend like this, naturally, we
have two of us, including BK. We all get to go
on different golf trips, but, you know, there's always that feeling
of, well, hey, my buddy's getting to do this, and I'm not on this
one. And there is absolutely
zero jealousy from any angle. Dude,
(01:21):
I am stoked for you. I heard you talking about this little trip you got going
on, and it sounds like it's shaping up to
be a pretty damn good one for you.
>> RB (01:29):
Yeah, it's going to be fun. got a little sage valley on
Monday and Tuesday. We were
supposed to do Peachtree on Sunday when we landed, but
club championship at Peachtree got in the way.
Final round. I asked him if I could play in the final round. My score doesn't
have to count. I said, They
declined.
>> Jonathan (01:47):
Like, a member role of someone out of town or someone
that never shows up or maybe for them
show up dress. Yeah.
>> RB (01:54):
I'm Harry Smith, and then I win the club championship,
and my name's on the board at Peachtree. I'm not a member.
Yeah, that'd be fun.
So, very nice.
So, yeah, that.
>> Jonathan (02:08):
I'm.
>> RB (02:09):
I'm excited for that one. Sage Valley, which you've turned down, funny
enough. so I'll fill you in.
Thanks on that. What? What?
>> Jonathan (02:16):
No. I mean, I did. I did turn down. Not this trip.
>> RB (02:19):
Specific trip.
>> Jonathan (02:21):
Well, because I couldn't make it work. So sometimes I got to say
no, but who? So it's you and walks and who's.
>> RB (02:26):
All going Ray Fulcher, Tyler reeve,
Cole, Taylor, and Jim Fury's gonna be
there with.
>> Jonathan (02:34):
So, maybe fluff will be floating.
>> RB (02:36):
Around, too, but can you imagine fluff on my bag?
He'd be so lost. He would just
like. Like, what are you. What?
>> Jonathan (02:45):
Yeah.
>> RB (02:45):
But, I'm excited they have that lit up
par three course. Got some great cigars for us to
smoke down there, so I'm really excited to see the boys
and get to see Sage Valley for the first time. And Athens country
club with Schaefer, which I'm excited for. Everybody
talks about that little donald Ross gem. So
excited for that.
>> Jonathan (03:03):
How was just talking about. I'll bookmark
that. I was just talking about shaver today. you know, I golfed
with, Buzzo, Randy Buzz, who owns
Pete die, and the question was asked, has anyone ever
asked who designed a course? Pete die golf club. Who's designed Pete
die golf club? Naturally, it's Pete dye. Right? But me
being. I don't want to say gullible, but sometimes
(03:24):
I just give people the benefit of the doubt for just
stupid. On number ten, shaver,
the guy you're playing Athens country club with, said, who
designed this place? Again? And I looked at him and I
said, p ty. And he's like.
I'm like, man, I thought. I thought you were serious. Like, I was helping you
out.
>> RB (03:44):
There you go with it again. There you go with it. Hey,
Saturday. This past Saturday, pretty good
gambling day for the boys. We had a pretty strong
day. Wasn't great, wasn't bad.
Was good.
>> Jonathan (03:57):
Yeah.
>> RB (03:57):
it was fun to watch.
>> Jonathan (03:58):
Fun to watch somebody's game, not fun to watch the Mountaineers. That
was absolutely awful.
>> RB (04:04):
the Georgia Bulldogs came through, which was a little bit of a risky move
with the way Texas has been playing. So glad we were
on the, on the, right side of that one.
>> Jonathan (04:12):
Hey, bud. You know, sorry to interrupt you. I just thought of something.
You're talking about your golf trip. You know who just, played
Pine Valley this week? Jr.
Has junior made it out east?
>> RB (04:23):
Well, yeah, he's got a nice one lined up.
Yeah, I'm happy for him.
He's going to have all kinds of pine Valley swag. I'm sure.
>> Jonathan (04:31):
I might. Yeah.
>> RB (04:32):
I mean, so, you know, good for him, though. I'm glad he
got. That's a hard get to
get. So good for junior. I guess it's
about time, but,
>> Jonathan (04:42):
Yeah, football was. It was good.
>> RB (04:44):
Sunday was a little bit of a disappointment for me
personally. Took the parlay, lost that, and
then I took the jets at minus two and a half. Got
smoked on that, which you haven't been talking
too much, which leads me to believe you took the
Steelers.
>> Jonathan (04:59):
I did.
>> RB (05:00):
Yeah. There you go.
>> Jonathan (05:00):
I did.
>> RB (05:01):
I knew it. You are such a little rat. Well, you
are a rat. You put your bed in
at 6630. Dude, I
know.
>> Jonathan (05:10):
He puts his bed at 630. The game kicks off at
830, and I'm, like, undecided. I
asked him if he put his bed in for next weekend already, too. I
mean, but at least, like ten minutes before the game's good. But
I did a little research. That line moved back up two and a half,
and I just felt like. Like, you know what? Tomlin doesn't lose.
>> RB (05:27):
You're such.
>> Jonathan (05:28):
Too often. Well, so.
>> RB (05:29):
You're so sneaky.
>> Jonathan (05:31):
Yeah, but what about all the times I helped you?
>> Speaker C (05:34):
Yeah, yeah.
>> RB (05:35):
I mean, but what about the Tennessee one? I
said Tennessee. I picked the Georgia one. Yeah,
let's.
>> Jonathan (05:42):
You had some dubs.
>> RB (05:43):
And then hockey this week was a great one for me. not
for you. The one night that you take, of course, but hockey
was great for me. but, yeah, it's exciting, dude.
It's, Everything is firing on all cylinders, and, including
today's episode.
>> Jonathan (05:56):
I love it, man.
Greg camp joins us here on Jason birdies. We met him down in
Nashville at old Hickory country club. just
a cool guy, man. An avid outdoorsman, has
done a lot of hunts. You can call him a professional hunter,
frankly, and outdoor, apparel. So we
thought, what the hell? You know what, Greg? Let's get you on the podcast
and hear about you chasing birdies in life. And naturally, he
(06:17):
does somewhat like golf, so it worked out
great.
>> RB (06:20):
Yeah. So, I'm really looking forward to our first duck
hunt with him. it's gonna be exciting and, you
know, we'll dress appropriately for this and,
yeah, we will do that.
So, without further ado, let's
roll it on over to Greg camp. Listen, he has to say, let's
go.
>> Jonathan (06:38):
You know, as we mentioned on the last episode here on
Chase and birdies, we are inching closer
to winter. But
before winter, we obviously have a great season in fall.
You and I pep love fall golf, but there are
outdoor enthusiasts stationed all over the world
that this is their season. Now. It's hunting
time now, whether or not it's all year or just
(07:00):
in this specific timeframe, within the year,
that's what people do. They chase bucks, chase tail,
chase ducks, whatever. And we got Greg
camp joining us. Today on Jason
birdies, founder of Halo waterfowl and other
things we'll get into. My man, Greg. We've never had a real hunter
on the show, man, so I'm stoked to have you,
(07:21):
man.
>> Speaker C (07:21):
I'm your first redneck ever, huh? Real
redneck?
>> Jonathan (07:24):
Well, I wouldn't say that, but, well, maybe.
>> RB (07:27):
No, we had, Willie Robertson on.
>> Jonathan (07:29):
Oh, yeah, we had Willie Robertson on from Duck Dynasty.
>> RB (07:32):
I mean, that's. He's an outdoor.
>> Speaker C (07:34):
He's a legit hunter. He's the real
deal.
>> RB (07:37):
So you're second.
>> Speaker C (07:39):
Yeah, I'm so. Okay.
>> Jonathan (07:40):
But that was many moons ago. I actually forgot about that pep. How could
I forget that?
>> Speaker C (07:45):
That's a pretty big one.
>> Jonathan (07:46):
But anyways, man, it's good to have you on, man. I don't
know. I know you're kind of new to us, and we're kind of new to you,
but, in the last episode of the podcast, I was talking about the
long drive contest down there at, old hickory,
and pep rolled up and saw you, and he legitimately thought this
guy was what you look. You're built. So it makes sense to
his defense.
>> RB (08:05):
Based off his looks. He looks like he's a long
draft champion, so he looks
deceiving.
>> Jonathan (08:12):
He starts asking you if you know these guys that are actual
long drivers, and you're like. You're looking at this kid like, what in the
hell are you talking about?
>> Speaker C (08:19):
But, like, yeah,
that was one thing that I don't know. I think that was part of the
trick. Everybody just thought I could really crush the ball, you know?
I did some push ups before everybody got there, but, I
don't know. I love golf, but, you know, I don't know that I'm as
good as that, that flyer made me out to be.
Especially be wearing those jorts and that cartoon, hey, come
(08:39):
beat Greg camp from Halo waterfowl, the long drive competition.
People thought I was the man they got here. This guy's a
joke.
>> Jonathan (08:49):
Wow. You know what?
>> Speaker C (08:50):
I didn't get better as y'all left. I know
everybody says that, but I think y'all were, like, the fifth
group after that. I really found my niche. But
that's easy for me to say now.
>> Jonathan (09:01):
Yeah. And, you know, when we get into
the golf talk, we'll talk a little bit about that. But certainly once you
get a little bit of repetition going, just like anything,
then you'll start connecting, you know? So, I mean, that makes
sense, but, you know. You in
Georgia now, or are you from Arkansas originally? Where are you right
now?
>> Speaker C (09:19):
I'm a Georgia boy. Georgia native. born and
raised here. Still live here today. So I'm
a. I'm a. I'm a Georgia peach. Old
redneck.
>> Jonathan (09:28):
Well, you got some nice racks hanging around that room right
behind you there.
>> Speaker C (09:33):
Well, thank you, man. I appreciate that. It's, a lot of
years of sitting, in the deer stand. I
promise you that.
>> Jonathan (09:40):
So talk a little bit about the halo
waterfall, because I know you tossed us a couple polos,
which we're very appreciative of and whatnot. And,
so just want to kind of hear a little bit about that background with
that story.
>> Speaker C (09:53):
Absolutely. So, you know, I'll give you the,
short version. you know, halo Waterfowl
was founded in 2013. My
brother and I wanted to build, a lifestyle
company that, we could be proud of. And that did something a little
different than, most companies that we, are
familiar with. You know, our goal was not to be an apparel
company or, necessarily a,
(10:16):
company that made something. It was more
of a lifestyle company, something that a lot of
people could just relate to. And, I felt
like, and he and my brother chase felt like to
doing something american made out of the gate would sort
of signify that or
make that relevant and real. And the way we
did that is through making an american made hunting
(10:38):
jacket. Every piece of it was sourced in
America and built in Georgia. An old school
waterfowl hunting jacket, old school
wax canvas. So we sourced all the pieces of part
all over the country and built the jacket
in, Bremen, Georgia, at, a factory called
sewell manufacturing. It's been around for about 80 years,
(10:58):
and that's sort of where we got our start, making an old school
jacket that a bunch of, grandmas
and grandpas sit around and theyre still
cutting and sewing. I mean, each one of these jackets are handmade.
We make a couple hundred a year. And, Man,
its just tried and true
american made materials, products, down to
(11:18):
the zipper and the buttons and the snaps.
And, you know, it has been really cool. And
we got a lot of recognition for doing something that was
different. And, that's kind of where we got our
start.
>> RB (11:31):
So is that jacket that you manufacture, is
it waterproof?
>> Speaker C (11:35):
Yeah, yeah, it's made out of the same thing as our us
military's tents. Old school wax canvas.
Like if you went to the Colorado Rockies
and you bought the best tent out there,
in years past, it's wax canvas. or if they went when they
went desert storm. Wax can, whatever that is.
And it cuts the wind, it cuts the rain. It's non
insulated, but it will, it will
(11:58):
shield you from the elements.
>> Jonathan (12:00):
Now, with your love for outdoors,
and I know hunting kind of takes precedence,
but are you in the same
realm, like, with fishing
or.
>> Speaker C (12:13):
I mean, I love fishing, especially freshwater
fishing. You, know, we grew up catching bass and
brim and crappie and all that stuff.
Catfish trooping,
on. I love salt water, but I'm a little bit of a
sissy because I get sick a little bit if I'm getting
on real rocky water. And, you know, it's one of those deals where
you got to take dramatic or just start drinking cold beer early in
(12:36):
the morning, one or the other. So, you know,
just either one. I do love, like, I love
cobia fishing, you know, in the spring,
you know, I like to, you know, I'm sort of a
fair weather fisherman running up and down the coast, catching
those covia. You can jump in the water and swim
to. Swim to the sand if you want to, but,
no, I do love it. I'm not as mad at
(12:58):
the fish as I am, the big bucks
and ducks and turkey, though.
>> Jonathan (13:03):
Yeah. And coming from where we are,
we're not too far from you, but I'm in West Virginia, peps,
up around the Pittsburgh area. You know, we
take. School gets canceled on Monday, first day of rifle season
in November. After Thanksgiving, they don't. They
can't go on Mondays for hunting.
>> Speaker C (13:20):
Yeah, I love that. I'm thinking about moving
there over that.
>> RB (13:24):
I mean, it's like a big deal. It's a huge deal.
I mean, I love you.
>> Jonathan (13:29):
So me personally, and I, I don't
know about pep, if he's had ever had any experience, but obviously,
we're. We're not the avid hunters, but I
really do enjoy the outdoors. I mean, and
so, you know, I find myself for, for
example, last year, I set up some trail cams. I got a
feeder auto feeder. Twice a day goes off because
(13:49):
we have so many deer around here. I like watching them, you know.
but I've only shot one deer in my life, man. A couple years ago, I
went archery hunting and, and got me a nice little
buck. And, and that was it. So
I'm one and done. But I definitely want to get it back out there.
I mean, hunting is very therapeutic,
not just to me, but I'm saying to probably you guys, there's
(14:10):
a adrenaline aspect to it. So
I kind of imagine, you know, if pep and I go on a hunt with
y'all, whether it's for ducks or turkeys or hogs or
whatever it is, it'll feel like some guys coming on golf
trips with us where they're like, just, we're looking for someone
to lead us.
>> Speaker C (14:26):
Absolutely. There's nothing more
exhilarating, that pumps me up, or whatever you want to call it,
when folks who don't do it that much
get out there and, like, the ducks break down
through the timber, and they're just like, on top of you, or
a big buck walks in, or you got a turkey goblin at 20
yards. When those guys see that for
(14:47):
the first time, or even if they've seen it
but in a different capacity, maybe it's not as intense
as what we can get them in. Man, it blows my
mind to see people just light up, because when you do it
once and you really get the full experience,
you're hooked. You're hooked, man. I love it. I
love seeing people, and the older I get, I remember
(15:08):
growing up and hearing older dudes blowing, hey, man, I just want to
see kids, you know, a youngster get out there and do
it. I don't care if I even shoot them anymore. And I could never
relate to that. And I was like, what are they talking about? Like, I always want to
shoot, but the older I get, I get what they're
saying because they just want to get new folks in the
door, get them doing it. So it gets. That
actually sends, gives me a little chill right now thinking about it. I can't
(15:30):
wait for y'all to get out there and see some of that.
>> RB (15:33):
Well, I mean, I have ADHD
severely, so you guys might lose me about ten minutes into either
the hunt or the, duck hunt, the deer hunt,
whatever. But I'll light a cigar. I'll probably scare everybody
away.
>> Speaker C (15:46):
that happens a lot, actually.
>> RB (15:50):
I'm not your ideal hunter because I smoke cigars left and
right, so I'm like, yeah.
the only outdoor stuff I do and enjoy is
fishing. I love the fish, and I don't do it enough,
and I wish I did. My son actually
loves to fish, and, that's what I
had to go to Cabela's last week. That was an experience
(16:10):
in itself. And wheeling, West Virginia, I
mean, like, it would have been like that guy
asking me for golf balls type thing I'm looking like.
But, it's. It's awesome. I have a lot of friends that do it. And
did your dad, your grandfather, are
they the ones that got you into it, or did you kind of start
yourself?
>> Speaker C (16:29):
Yeah. Well, before I answer that, you're a perfect candidate
for a turkey hunter, a duck hunter, because they can't
smell, so you can smoke all the
stones you got, baby, light up. We're light them up.
You know, if you got them. But, Yeah, but, that's a great
question. You know, my dad got me into deer hunting.
My brother and I both. I mean, he was, that's one thing. Like, you know, we
didn't come from a bunch of money. One thing he. We did come
(16:52):
from a house of love. And, my dad, one of the
things, he was very adamant about it, and he's always a good
athlete, but he was a better
outdoorsman. He was really good at introducing us
to, deer hunting at an early age, and
turkey hunting and, of course, squirrel hunting. I
mean, you can't pass that up. And an occasional
dove hunt. We never had dove fields that were like,
(17:15):
you could imagine now, but we'd go out and try to find some
doves. But deer hunting and turkey hunting was, you
know, something that we looked, looked forward
to every year. I mean, it was the old school days
where you're deer hunting and you, like, you're
hunting on a piece of property. There's. We're in some kind of
deer lease back in the eighties
(17:35):
or nineties, and you're sitting there, and the guy
pulls up into orange, and his camo looks
horrible, and he's like a cigarette and got these big glasses
and Elmer Fudd hat. He's like, yeah, I
got a big doe and a three pointer, a spike and a
five pointer. you know, he's got, like, five deer. And that
was before deer management was cool. Like, just whatever you could
(17:55):
pile on your four wheeler. That's how I remember growing
up. And my, dad always told us, hey, son,
we're not out here to do that. We're out here to enjoy
God's creation and get some
meat. Bring home the family, man. That's how we
got into.
And I think that's where my passion for it really resonates,
from.
>> Jonathan (18:16):
That's awesome. I mean, you can tell you have the
passion, and you're like the prototype
hunter, outdoorsman, man. Looking at you, it's like,
yeah, if I want to go hunting, I want to go with this
guy.
>> Speaker C (18:28):
Well, thanks, man. Shook.
>> Jonathan (18:30):
Did you ever, have you guys seen that video that
went viral, like, a year or two ago of that clown in
Bass pro shop where he jumps into
the water feature.
And he goes.
>> Speaker C (18:45):
Yes, it's a great video. Like, I don't, I don't
know why I thought that was so funny,
but one of my buddies, josh, sent me that. And I
was like, he's like, no, no, I'm, I'm here. I
was like, I'm here. I just saw it. I said, what are you doing to bass pro
shot? He said, don't worry about it. I just sent you the video. I was like,
that guy has lost his mind, but it's
unbelievable.
>> Jonathan (19:06):
Lost his mind? Yeah. I mean, he was like, naked.
>> RB (19:09):
Jumped out, didn't he?
>> Jonathan (19:10):
Yeah, he jumped out. He pulled him out, or he jumped out, fell out on the
floor, and then they cuffed him up. But he was like, nude.
It was.
>> Speaker C (19:17):
Brings drinking to a new level.
Like, I mean, he. When he. If you think about it,
that piece of glass is like this
thick at a, bass pro shop. It's a
hundred percent, at least 10ft
tall. And that climbed
over it and face planted on that
(19:37):
concrete like, that had to hurt. That left a
mark in the words.
>> RB (19:43):
That was enough punishment.
>> Jonathan (19:46):
Yeah.
>> Speaker C (19:48):
Joker still has a concussion.
>> Jonathan (19:50):
Oh, he's still. Yeah, no doubt. He's still banged up. He's probably still
locked up, too. Maybe. but have you ever gone out
west and hunted?
>> Speaker C (19:57):
I have. I have, like,
old school out. Ah, west. I've done it. Ah,
I've done it. My, again. my
dad took us to, we would always fly into
Denver and drive up to, Glenwood
Springs, Colorado. And then from
there we would drive another two and a half hours
(20:18):
up into, like the Kincaid mountain range or
something, like out past Craig, Colorado.
And we'd go up in the northwest corner of Colorado and
we'd go hunt mule deer and elk.
like three or four times. I never, I
never killed, anything. My uncle killed some,
my dad killed some. But, you know, growing up, it was
(20:38):
neat to be a part of that because those are the things
I remember my whole life. And it was more
than killing, it was about the experience
of being out in the middle of nowhere. And, I mean, I remember
us being in one of these old school wax canvas
tents with like, like this heater
in the middle of it. They turned it off and you, like, you're. It was
(20:58):
warm and you fall asleep and then you're
like, I'll never hear. The first time I ever went out
there, I woke up in the middle of night and I had to pee. And I
was like, oh, my God, I'm gonna get out and pee. And, when
you pull that blanket off, I mean, it was, like,
18 degrees. And he, like, you go outside the pee
in the tent where there's bears and
mountain lions, and they're like, hey, don't get eaten by a bear. Like,
(21:21):
it. You get out there and you're like, you don't want to go to the bathroom
that bad. Like, I'll just hold it till daylight. You know,
some of that stuff. And it was really cold. But, man, we grew
up roughing it out west and trying to
brush your teeth with, like, water and,
like, just no running water. And we were out there for,
like, seven days in the middle of nowhere.
>> RB (21:41):
And I was.
>> Speaker C (21:41):
That's crazy. The older I get, again, I want to
go somewhere not quite that extreme. But we did that
for, like, ten years, like, every other
year.
>> Jonathan (21:52):
Damn it. Yeah, you need some posh, posh
amenities now at your stage.
>> Speaker C (21:58):
I ain't gonna lie, man. I take it a little easier these days. I
go to places we got a little bit of running water and
electricity.
>> Jonathan (22:05):
so you had mentioned back in Nashville, when
we met, that Riley green
is a partner of yours in this company as well, or
something to do with you.
>> Speaker C (22:16):
He is. Riley's a good friend and, obviously a
heck of a country music artist. And
I, will say this about my buddy Riley. He is the real
deal. And, what you see is what you get.
He is, just as good a hunter as he is
a songwriter, and
artist. just a hell of a guy.
(22:36):
we were introduced from a buddy of mine, Tyler Crewett,
back in
2015,
introduced us, and, we went duck hunting together.
And, been, friends ever since. It was
kind of before Halo was really halo and
before Riley was really Riley. And, you
know, he just hung out, man. And he's, since, become
(22:57):
a partner in halo and just a heck of a. And has always
been heck of a good friend.
>> RB (23:02):
I see that he likes cigars, from time to time,
too.
>> Speaker C (23:06):
So, yeah, he ain't scared of a cigar. I mean,
he won't crush them, daily, but, he'll
partake time, to time.
>> Jonathan (23:12):
Well, I gotta say. Cause you said, you know,
he's the real deal, whatever you mentioned earlier. But,
you know, we're playing in this golf tournament, and pep
and I knew a lot of the guys there, you know, just from doing this for a while and
being buddies with some of those boys down there, but
I never had any encounter with Riley green
before. And, you know,
(23:32):
I see him kind of walking around and I go to pep. I'm like,
dude, that is one good looking
dude, man.
>> Speaker C (23:38):
Golly, I think he gets that a lot.
>> RB (23:41):
yeah, I think he's doing all right with the
ladies.
>> Speaker C (23:46):
Yeah, that's one thing. He, he, may
have a few issues. Women ain't one of them.
>> Jonathan (23:51):
No, I can guarantee that. But.
But that's awesome, man. You know, you kind of get. I think that's
what's cool about, like, for example, Jonathan, he's got
relationships with guys that, like, you go,
how in the hell are you friends with these people? But it's
like, ah, ah. At an organic state,
you just kind of, kind of,
just mesh well with someone. And
(24:14):
regardless of what they're doing in life, it doesn't matter. It's
like this person and I mesh on this level. I don't give a
crap what he's doing or if he's famous. Not famous,
athlete, whatever. It's just about that
connection, you know? And, for guys, that's important because at the end of the
day, you know, outside of your family and
close friends that you have, when you start making
new friends or whatnot, you really
(24:37):
don't want to surround yourself with a bunch of assholes.
I mean, just amen.
>> Speaker C (24:42):
Amen to that. There's no doubt, man.
I've been very blessed with a wonderful, beautiful
wife and three beautiful kids and two puppy
dogs, one of which I showed you a few minutes ago. But,
you know, it's funny how, you know, one of my buddies told me
a long time ago, in high school, you're giving
your friends in college, you get to
(25:03):
pick them, right? And that's sort of how the rest of
your life goes. After college, you want to be
around the people that you like and that are
equally yoked and sort of,
you know, you got those friends you like. You look at your buddies like, hey, I'm
going to introduce you to this guy. He's one of us. That you want to
be the guy that they're like, he's one of us. When you get brought
(25:23):
into a new group, so life's too short to surround
yourself with people that aren't one of us, so to
speak, right?
>> Jonathan (25:29):
Yeah.
>> RB (25:30):
Now you're for sure. I mean, that's why, like, when you
plan golf trips, and I'm sure with you, with hunting trips,
like, you got to think out who's going on a trip, because
I'm going to be away for two to three days with these people. I want to
have fun, and I don't want to have to deal with bullshit or anything like
that. I want to smoke cigars, drink some
tequila, hit some. Okay. Golf shots
(25:50):
here and there and have fun.
>> Speaker C (25:53):
Yes, absolutely. 100%.
I have, the older I get back to what
you said a minute ago, you're very.
We're all very fortunate to have a lot of acquaintances
and a lot of friends, but there is a
select group that you want to spend hunting camp
with, you know, guys who. I
(26:14):
don't want to get into the details of
what it takes to be that, but at the end of the day,
it's real short and simple. Guys
who are equally yoked and just want
to have fun and not stingy, don't care who
kills. They're just happy for whoever does,
and to your point, wants to smoke a cigar or have a
cocktail or have a beer or drink a
(26:37):
coke, whatever. Just chill and relaxed,
you know, that's just somebody who just may, you gotta have,
you gotta have a few people just to, create
that right ebb and flow. And, man, it's fun when
you get three or four or five buddies in camp that are like
that.
>> RB (26:52):
So you talk about camp. So Ryan and I, we
go on a fair number of golf trips with some of our buddies every year.
And, you know, we're so amped up, we're gonna stay up till
03:00 a.m. the next day, drinking all night, and we're gonna
party, right? Well,
99% of the time, we're in bed by
930. So,
like, we've golfed
(27:15):
all day and, smoked, drank.
But come 930, I'm like, all right, boys, I'm gonna hit it. I'll see you in the
morning. Is that what it's like for you boys out there when
you're camping or what? Are you guys staying up a little later?
>> Speaker C (27:26):
No. yeah, for sure, man. Like, so,
And I think a lot of hunters will relate to this.
when I was duck hunting, and I was so mad at the
ducks, and that's all we were doing back in the day, like,
when, and it's sort of an evolution of what that
looks like. The younger guys, the duck hunters, like,
when you're just, you're mad about the ducks. Like,
(27:48):
you're hunting mornings in
Arkansas, and they're like, there's nothing to
do all day. And the guys like, hey, it's time to drink beer.
Like, you get to a point in your life where that's
just not like you're like, I'm not going to drink beer all day, we got to
do something. And then you're like, oh, okay, we can
hunt. We can hit speckle bellies and snow geese in the
afternoon. So now you got ducks in the morning,
(28:11):
you forget the beer drinking, and you go
straight to the next hunt, which is the
specs or the snows. And then
the evening, you have two or three beers or whatever,
and you get tired, and you go to sleep.
Well, now, in deer hunting, when you go to deer camp, it's
like you get up so early, and you work so
hard, and you hunt, and then you try to
(28:33):
come back and take a nap. That's if you don't go
hang another set somewhere else or move because the deer
aren't moving where you want them to. And then. And then
you go to hunt that evening, you get back, and you're
like, man, I'll have a beer, and I'm going to bed. But, like, the
older you get, it's funny because you're like, you start thinking like, hey, did I bring my
CPAp machine? That's a funny thing,
(28:53):
man. Like, when I first got.
I got a CPAP machine. I'm just gonna say it, dude. Listen.
It is what it is. I'm 46 years old. I got
a CPAP machine. It is what? Like, my buddies were busting my
balls. You got a cPap machine, man? It's freaking
old now. My dude's like, hey, man, let's talk to him about the
CPAp machine. What's going on? Like,
(29:15):
so, like, three or four of my buddies now. I see. Because,
like, man, that's the real deal. We'll talk about that
later, man. That's some good rest right there.
But, yeah, things change. That's the long answer,
that as you get older, things change.
Deer camp, duck camp, turkey camp. It
evolves. You're not as, you're not as young
(29:35):
as you once were, and I'm.
>> RB (29:37):
Completely fine with that. I'm happy to go to bed. 930,
maybe 10:00 watch 10:00 news, get up
at 06:00 a.m. have a cup of coffee, and then maybe a morning
cigar. I'm good with that. But there
are always those people that are out drinking till 02:00 a.m.
and they're, oh, you can't hang, dude. It's not that I can't hang.
I don't want to hang. I want to feel normal tomorrow.
>> Speaker C (29:57):
Yeah, that's right.
>> Jonathan (29:58):
That's.
>> Speaker C (29:58):
That's right. Now, I'll say this, too.
y'all know halo waterfowl you know, duck
hunting. Like, that's, that's been my gig
for forever. that is a young man
sport. I mean, that's, that's intense. I mean, those
boys, those boys are, you know, your grand, you
know, your grandpa always said, I mean, you know, if you can be stupid,
you got to be tough. And, Doug hunt's one of those sports.
(30:21):
You're going to be stupid, you're going to be tough. Those boys will get out and carry
on and, you know, two or 03:00 in the morning and
go hang out and, you know, a dive bar and get
up in 04:00 and go walk into a duck
hole. You know, that's, that's, that's,
that's got to be tough to do that.
You know, I don't want no part of that.
(30:42):
I'm with you. I want the rest.
>> Jonathan (30:44):
So, yeah, and I'm
on a different level than even pep. Like, I'm good to go to bed before
09:00. but, like, duck hunting, you got,
see, I've not really been one to eat, like, duck breast
as dinner. Like, I see it on menus sometimes, which, I know
it's a little, I think it's a little fattier or
maybe greasier. I don't know if that's right way to describe it,
(31:05):
but I mean, you're obviously eating the
kills, right?
>> Speaker C (31:09):
Oh, yeah. We really, we don't ever shoot
anything. We don't either. Either we
eat or we give it to somebody or we
give it to the homeless 100%.
>> Jonathan (31:20):
So what's your favorite, what
is your favorite meat of your kill? Is it, is it venison or do you like
duck or.
>> Speaker C (31:28):
Man, this is a toss up between duck and
elk. duck. Duck is
amazing. You know, where I screwed up as a young man, I
would try to cook it like I was
cooking chicken, and then I realized you're
supposed to cook duck like you're cooking steak.
And, man, I was so far
(31:48):
wrong, man. I mean, like, literally, it's
amazing. You cook that stuff like steak. Duck is the
real deal. I mean, I'm telling you, you know, it's good.
I mean, I love that. And then elkhorndeh
elk is in the cow family. It's not in the venison
family. It's not deer. And, you know, elk is
one of the most, sought after meats. Like, all the
(32:09):
help, you know, whether it's mountain ops or first form.
Yeah, I'm using some
groups that are very high in
fitness, good companies, good quality folks,
those guys love elk meat, and there's a reason it's the most
lean, good meat on the planet, in my
opinion. And I think there's a lot of health
nuts or health consciences, people or
(32:31):
folks that are worried about taking care of themselves, which we all
should be. At least I should be more, That's a
good meat, man. Elk is a real deal.
>> RB (32:40):
So, I
love bison and elk.
just ground bison. Ground elk
instead of your normal cow meat. but,
dude, I'll just. I had it the other night. I had
elk with mushrooms,
onions, and then I just sprinkled a little bit of cheese on
there. And I just eat that.
(33:02):
it is so lean elk,
the latest red meat you can eat.
>> Speaker C (33:10):
You're spot on, man. I mean, if people are going nuts
over it.
>> RB (33:15):
An elk strip steak. Oh.
>> Speaker C (33:18):
Oh, man. Tenderloin, back strap, man,
listen, you. If you could sell that. I mean,
that people lined up here to Chicago.
>> Jonathan (33:29):
I had my first elk. I don't know what it was.
If it was elk, what cut it was.
>> RB (33:35):
You had a strip sake?
>> Jonathan (33:37):
No, no. This. The first time I had elk was in Jackson,
Wyoming, at a little restaurant. And it was.
I forget the type of what it was. It was a
nice freaking chuck of
elk. It was on the bone. It was bone in something. Not bone in, but
bone in. it was dynamite. So, yeah,
it's, it's good stuff. And trying that stuff,
you know, at the end of the day, if you cook it up good, you don't
(33:59):
really. It doesn't taste gamey, I guess, is what I'm
trying to say.
>> Speaker C (34:03):
No, no. Those guys know how to cook
it. There's secrets, to
everything. You just soak a lot of that stuff in,
cold water with some salt in it overnight in the refrigerator.
Draws that blood out. It takes that gamey taste
out. I mean, man, it doesn't take
much for elk to taste really good. It really
doesn't. I love it, man.
>> Jonathan (34:24):
You look like a guy that knows his way around a kitchen and a
smoker.
>> Speaker C (34:29):
It's a nice way to call me fat.
>> Jonathan (34:31):
No, no. Lean. Lean, Greg.
>> Speaker C (34:34):
Lean. No, I know. I know. I'm kidding. No, thanks,
man. I'll tell you, I will say this. I
decided, you know, I think my wife
wishes I was a little better
in the kitchen, but
she's giving me the accolades and props I
need on the grill, but. The grill. But
(34:54):
I gotta get better at the smoking, man. I hadn't done the.
I haven't done as much with the pellets and the
smokers, as you would think. Like, I'm
just like, I've been old school, like, for so long. I would
get my, like, weber grill and go out there
and get charcoal and, like, put it out there because I'm like a. Like
a freak for, like, just a good charcoal
hamburger steak. And, you know, I've got
(35:16):
this. My kids and my wife bought me this
beautiful lever gas
grill. And listen, for
speed. you can't beat it. But, man, I'm still,
like a. I still love charcoal, man. I'm old
school, man. I guess that's just growing up poor. I don't
know. We didn't ever admit, but I do love it. It's good.
>> Jonathan (35:36):
Well, I like smoking. I have a smoker. I like grilling.
I grill a lot. And I, had a guy over the house a couple weeks ago
fixing a fireplace, and we started
talking about grills. And I didn't know he was a grill guru.
And now this cat was standing in my living
room talking to me now about grills because I mentioned
to him that I was trying to get a new grill. I've been researching
(35:56):
grills, and he starts going
through every brand, you name it, whether it's
Weber or Napoleon or
coyote or jumping over
to the green egg versus the primo
and this and that, and I'm like, but
just get my fireplace working, all right? Because that's really.
(36:16):
But it's interesting, I think that especially
in this season, we're coming into, man, nothing beats the smell of a
smoker going. But I need to hurt
my skills a little bit.
>> Speaker C (36:26):
Yeah, me and you both. Me and you both.
I got. I got a couple buddies who, like, I told him, I was like, y'all,
y'all gotta hook your boy up and look, you know, come on over.
Let me show you. I just gotta make m time to do it, you know? I'm bad
about, my family make fun of me because I'm bad
about burning a fire, you know?
You know, three quarters of the year, like, it could be
90 degrees outside the summer. I got a fire. Go. I turned the
(36:49):
air down. We're freezing in the house. I love burning a fire in the
house, dude.
>> Jonathan (36:53):
Yeah, my wife's awesome.
>> RB (36:55):
My wife yells at me all the time. Tells me I'm wasting the wood outside
because I'll throw a few logs on a fire
outside, and I'll walk away and I'll sit on the back patio and smoke a cigar.
And she's like, what was the point of that over there. And I said,
I just. I just like the smell.
>> Speaker C (37:09):
I, like to know it's burning.
>> RB (37:11):
I just like the smell. I don't care. Like, I know it's a hundred
degrees outside. What is it? That's why I'm sitting over here.
But I like the smoke coming to me and smelling that. It's
just. It's incredible.
>> Speaker C (37:22):
It is just that, hey, I've had the same
thing. Hey, man, that's that woods growing while we sleep. We
cut it all down, burn it tomorrow to grow back next week. I
love it. I'm with you, man. I'll burn something. I have,
ah, I have been said that I was a
pyromaniac, which I don't get that. I do like fire and
I do like burning stuff. But I love a fire,
(37:42):
man. I will burn it every day if I'm home.
>> RB (37:45):
I'm with you, man. I am with you.
>> Jonathan (37:47):
Cozy.
>> RB (37:48):
And again, it's still like there's a good fire.
Roll in it and I'll throw another log on. For what reason? I don't
know. Because I want the flames higher. I don't know.
>> Speaker C (37:56):
No, I'm the same way. I just want to see a
fire. I mean, it's like a good Saturday
college, football or Sunday NFL Sunday.
I may be working around the house, but if the game's on,
mentally, I'm good. Same with the fire. Just have
the fire rolling. I could be working, but I want to walk by and
I want to smell it. I get it. I love you.
>> RB (38:17):
So you talk about Saturdays and maybe
I'm, assuming because of all our other
buddies are from Georgia. They're Georgia Bulldog fans.
Is that.
>> Speaker C (38:26):
Oh, yeah.
Made y'all throw up a little bit.
>> Jonathan (38:30):
No, it's a dog. That's a good team to be your
team. I mean, no complaints there.
>> RB (38:36):
I like the Marshall thundering herd, so there you go.
>> Jonathan (38:39):
Yeah, they're actually.
Well, we won't get into that, but.
>> Speaker C (38:44):
Oh, we just to butt in there, we
did just do and received them in the mail
today. We got an Auburn halo hat, Alabama
halo hat, and the Georgia. And those are our three best
sellers. So, we're launching those this week
on the sort of sec thing.
So we sell a ton of those hats. So, yeah, for
whatever reason, those are the three best sellers. So,
(39:09):
people like. Yeah, I like your hat, man.
No, my boys at 24/7 hunt, those are
good friends of ours. Good folks.
>> RB (39:16):
Well, so as I mentioned,
before, not a hunter. I just like the duck.
>> Speaker C (39:23):
Yeah.
>> RB (39:24):
it's a good looking duck, and an orange is my favorite color. And here
we are.
>> Speaker C (39:30):
Looks good on you.
>> Jonathan (39:31):
So, Greg, you played a little bit of golf today,
or potentially today. So,
you know, we got to talk a little bit about golf because
obviously you do golf, but maybe
you don't want to golf like you hunt. I don't know. So,
you know, what's it like chasing birdies with you?
>> Speaker C (39:50):
I will. I'm not going to make the senior tour.
I'll start by saying that, hey, neither.
>> Jonathan (39:55):
Us, neither are we.
>> Speaker C (39:58):
I will say I am. You know,
I really, you know, what do they say? Drive. Ah.
For show, putt for doe.
It's crazy how that changes for me. Like, one day
I could just be lights out, and the
next day I'm terrible on the drive.
The day that you saw me, terrible on the
drive was decent at, the putting
(40:21):
before, believe it or not, as weird as that sounds.
And then today I was, not that good
on the drive or the putt, but I was working my
irons. Like, it was about, like, I hit my five
iron. Like, I was hitting my driver. Like, I've never
hit a five iron good in my life. And I hit
like ten shots a day. That
(40:41):
blew my mind. But now I couldn't, do
anything on my 60 degree or my 56 degree. Like,
it was horrible. My buddy was like, are you okay? I was like,
I think so.
>> RB (40:52):
It was just, I mean, it just
sucks.
>> Speaker C (40:55):
I was just, hey, I want to be consistent. That's, you know, that's
the one thing in life that I would like to say about. Put, on my
grace on. He was
consistent.
>> RB (41:04):
Yeah.
>> Speaker C (41:05):
Consistently crazy, stupid, wild, funny,
whatever in a passionate. But
golf. Mmm m it's not gonna be on there.
It's not gonna be on there.
>> RB (41:15):
Well, you're probably consistent with duck
hunting or whatever, so, I mean, you give
some give and take, right?
>> Speaker C (41:22):
That's right. That's right.
>> Jonathan (41:24):
But you hit those five irons like that, probably one. You probably want to play
golf tomorrow now.
>> Speaker C (41:28):
I kind of do. I'm not gonna lie, you're right. I mean, that is
the one thing. You just nailed it right
there. With golf, like, you can play
ten days back. You have one and you want to play for
ten more days.
You just like, just do it. Golf is so
addictive when you have a good stroke.
Like today, me and my buddy, you know, we had a
(41:49):
mulligan or whatever, a piece. For whatever reason. It was
a weird tournament. You had mulligans so, like, like, you
hit a good shot, and, you know, he was like, okay,
you want it? We, you know, whatever. you know, and we had a
guy short, so we got to hit his other shot. And
I was like, well, I hit his other shot. I just hit a good one. And he was like,
yeah, you should hit it. You hit a good one and then you shank it, and you're like, oh,
(42:09):
my God, I should have let him hit it because it's so
mental. I mean, golf is so mental. Like, I'm,
not telling you. I'm preaching the choir, but you get up to that ball,
you know, if I can figure out a way for nothing to
go through my mind, I'm going to crush it. As soon
as I start thinking I'm going to do it like this,
I'm going, it's over.
>> Jonathan (42:29):
Yeah, no, it's, it's.
And, you know, part of the reason why we wanted to have you on
here, honestly, we know you love golf, play
golf and whatnot, and. But most of our guests,
they're doing something else in life. They just all have
the passion for golf, just like you kind of do.
But at the end of the day, there is some
crossover with respect to your
(42:51):
passion with hunting and our passion, which is golf,
because at the end of the day, as we mentioned earlier, it's about who you
surround yourself with for that day, for that trip, whatever it
is, you know, having the adrenaline
rush that you have. Believe me, I can understand
being in the stand and seeing a nice twelve point walk by, and you're
going like, But it's the same feeling over a six footer that you're like,
(43:12):
I gotta fucking make this putt. I gotta make it. I gotta make it. You know what I mean?
So, like, yeah, absolutely. And the beauty aspect
of it, hear me out on that. You know, you go to these different
places and hunt, you know, and you, whether
they're new places or places you're fond of, you like to go back. Same thing
with golf, right? Like, you get outside, you're in nature, which
is incredible. And you get to see different places,
different tracks. And at the end of the day, you're doing
(43:35):
the same thing whether you're at Pinehurst or you're playing
at Oakmont. But it's just different settings. And that's
kind of synonymous with hunting in that regard, too. So
there's a lot of crossovers there. I think that kind of, there really
is.
>> Speaker C (43:47):
That's a good point. I didn't really? Until you said
that, did I really, relate the two? But, man,
there are quite a few places that I still want
to hunt. You know, people ask me all the time, are you going to go on
a. Do you want to go to Argentina and going to,
you know, Guelph as a whatever, or do you want to
go to Africa? And I'm like, man, there's so many places
(44:07):
in, you know, North America that I still want to go that I
haven't seen. I want to do that. And I've never been to
Sawgrass. You know, I've been to Augusta
nationals.
I've been to East Lake. But there's so many other
places, in the. Just, you know,
northern part, of the country, or
just out west. I've never been to some of these great golf
courses. I just want to go check them out. So. Yeah, I'm with you,
(44:30):
man. There. There is some real crossover. You're right.
>> RB (44:33):
I'm heading down your way here in about a week and a half,
with, Tyler reeve and Cole taylor going down
to play Sage valley for two days, so.
>> Speaker C (44:41):
Oh, no kidding. Those are good dudes right there, and that's
going to be a heck of a play.
>> RB (44:45):
Yeah, we're going to. We're going to have a high old time.
and I'm really excited for that one. But that's the thing, like, we're talking about
right now is, like, you're excited for the next golf course
or we are. I should say you're excited for the next hunt and
location and all that, or your next big
kill. so there is, like he said, a lot of crossover,
and it's cool.
>> Speaker C (45:04):
Yeah, it really is. I mean, there's a lot of
connectivity in this. I mean, when you sit here
and think about it, when you just said that, I just said, wow,
man, I want to do this, this, this and this, because, I mean,
like, everybody wants to go, you know, abroad to
go check out some golf courses, but, man, there's so
many here that I want to check out before I even get to
(45:24):
that phase, if I live long enough, you know? But there's. There's that
many that I want to go play, or even if I don't play,
I want to go see, watch the tour, do it, you
know? M so I'm with you. Tell Tyler, man,
watch out. That joker may pack a fishing
pole on you and go catch some fish while y'all over there hitting the
golf ball. He's. He's good at both.
>> RB (45:44):
He's good he's hilarious.
>> Jonathan (45:45):
He is a good dude.
>> RB (45:46):
He's got a. He's got a decent voice on him, so I'll give him
that.
>> Speaker C (45:50):
Yeah, he does, man. He's. He's a real deal.
>> Jonathan (45:54):
Yeah. No, he is. All those boys, everyone
we met, you know. Yeah. Just good. Good
people, man. Good people. And that's what. That's what we need more of
in the world, bottom line.
>> Speaker C (46:04):
Yeah, no doubt. And I'll tell you, I was a blue otter. Blue
otter is a good. A good group of folks
who bring a bunch of good people together. That blue
otter golf tournament, you know, it's an honor to be there every
year. And, you know, I wouldn't have met you guys if I wouldn't have been
there.
>> RB (46:19):
Exactly.
>> Speaker C (46:19):
I thank the lord every day for good relationships like
this. And blue otter, man, Bradley
and all the boys over there. Just good,
Megan. All those folks are awesome.
>> RB (46:30):
Well, we'll have to. We'll have to keep an eye on the
schedule. Next, time Riley's in Pittsburgh, you
mosey on up this way. we'll take you.
We'll do a little fishing, and then we'll take you to some
good golf courses. We got a. We got a bunch here in the backyard,
and we'll go smoke a cigar.
>> Speaker C (46:48):
Baby. I'll be there.
>> Jonathan (46:49):
Yeah.
>> Speaker C (46:50):
I'll call you bluff.
>> Jonathan (46:51):
Yeah.
>> RB (46:53):
We'll get it taken care of.
>> Jonathan (46:54):
Yeah. Bring your wife up. Our resort that we're, associated
with. She would. Absolutely. Your wife would. Well,
your whole family would go goo. Goo gaga
over it. It's incredible. So, man, I'd love to
do.
>> Speaker C (47:06):
I've got. That's one thing that my kids and my family
do. They love all traveling together.
And I. One day, we're gonna find an
amazing place to hunt and an amazing place
to golf. Place where you bring your wife,
kids, and everybody be. That's a real deal.
That's like a. It's like a epic goal.
>> Jonathan (47:27):
That would be. That'd be a great. Yeah.
Well, Greg, man, it was awesome having you on here.
so we appreciate your time.
And before we head off, we're going to hit up the last
segment of the show called the tap in segment, presented
by betonardi golf. Check them out
online@bettenardi.com. dot Jonathan's going to
ask you a few questions that demand your quick
(47:48):
response. And here he goes.
>> Speaker C (47:50):
All right, biggest kill,
163 and a half inch whitetail.
>> Jonathan (47:56):
Damn.
>> RB (47:57):
Jesus. I wasn't expecting that one.
>> Speaker C (48:00):
I wasn't either.
>> RB (48:02):
Dream hunt.
>> Jonathan (48:06):
Absolute.
>> Speaker C (48:07):
ilk with a bow in Utah.
>> RB (48:10):
That sounds beautiful. I'll come out, come
traipse around with you. I won't do anything.
>> Jonathan (48:14):
But he doesn't.
>> Speaker C (48:15):
Y'all bring it all.
>> Jonathan (48:16):
That's a dream hunt of his. Like, he's not okay,
sure.
>> Speaker C (48:21):
listen, y'all. Y'all badass. Let's go.
>> RB (48:23):
This freaking guy's got a cigar. Can you put it out, bud?
dream, foursome, dead or alive.
>> Speaker C (48:30):
Oh, wow.
Wow. I would say I'm definitely. I mean, you gotta bring
Jesus to the party. I mean, that's my dude. you know, I would
say, Chris Farley. and then
I would say will Ferrell. Like, the four of
us would be ridiculous. I'm going to count myself as that
foursome.
>> RB (48:49):
That would be a, pretty epic.
>> Speaker C (48:50):
Foursome if you can't
tell my personality. I love laughing, having
a good time. I'm
happy just to wake up every day.
>> Jonathan (49:01):
I love it, Greg.
>> RB (49:02):
And the last question, Greg, what are you chasing?
>> Speaker C (49:06):
I'm chasing birds. Birdies.
Ducks, deer, turkeys. Hell,
I may, I may go rope a donkey.
>> RB (49:17):
That's a good one right there. That's the first time anybody sitting
there.
>> Jonathan (49:22):
That's awesome, man.
>> Speaker C (49:25):
Thank you all for having me on, man. Y'all are a trip.
This is always fun. And just hanging out with you guys
of the day was awesome. And, I've been on a few
podcasts, but, in my day, of course, but,
y'all are just, cream of the crop good dudes, down to
earth and salt of the earth. And I appreciate your time
and appreciate your friendship.
>> Jonathan (49:44):
Well, likewise, man. We really appreciate you coming on here. This
was. This was a great time, man. So,
appreciate it.
>> RB (49:56):
Enjoyable.
Different episode with our
dude Greg camp, which, funny enough, he's not a long drive
hitter. I found that out the
hard way at old Hickory. but it was a blast talking to him and
seeing, you know, his passion for. For hunting
and see his relationship with Riley
Green. That's all. That's awesome.
>> Jonathan (50:18):
Yeah, just a good, good dude, man. You could just tell family
oriented, loves the outdoor loves life.
And that's what we're all about here on chase and birdie's real
talk. So, Greg, thanks for coming on. It was awesome.
And I stand corrected, because I said, you
know, this was our first time having a hunter or something like that, to the effect
of that. But I was wrong. I forgot about
Willie Robertson early on. So listeners out
(50:40):
there who may have just started listening to Jason,
birdies or maybe.
Yeah. You go back into the archives. You will see it
episode back in the day of me and Pep
with Willie Robertson. And so Greg makes
two. But this was good. This was good.
>> RB (50:58):
The pooch is cute, huh? Huh?
>> Jonathan (51:00):
Adorable.
>> RB (51:00):
Birdie, I like.
>> Jonathan (51:02):
Yeah, I do, too.
>> RB (51:04):
but with that, you know, us going on the duck hunt and everything, I
need to fine tune my shooting. I'm gonna take
my butt up to Nemicolon,
practice some, I guess, shooting
there, and, try to make it
as real as it gets with the ducks. So
make sure you go on over to nemicolon.com,
(51:25):
book your stay. Take, the family.
Go by yourself, whatever you want to do. There's something
for you to do there. The golf courses are.
It's amazing right now. The trees are as good as it
gets. Right now up there. Mystic M Rock is ripping
on all cylinders, shepherd's rocks bouncing back
after the aeration. So it's
(51:46):
exciting. At Nema Colon. Go to
nemecolan.com. you will not be
disappointed.
>> Jonathan (51:51):
You will not be disappointed. Because you know what?
Last weekend, pep, I had a little celebration on
Saturday. Yeah. Which I don't like telling people it was my
birthday, but it was. It was my birthday. So I'm another year
older, but I'm like, what am I gonna do today?
You know? What can we do? So I told ash, I said, you know what?
Let's roll up there, grab a little lunch. And by
accident, I put my clubs in the car, by
(52:14):
accident. And actually, I put my shoes in the car, too, by
accident, in case I got out. And, we went
out at 03:00 not a soul out
there. The weather was great. Played 18
holes. She watched around. She played
videographer. We listened to music. And I
realized at that moment in time, I was like, man,
this place is extremely
(52:36):
special, and it's right here for us. But
for people listening across the country. Dude, you guys are
missing out.
>> RB (52:42):
Well, we're happy to have you there.
>> Jonathan (52:44):
It's beautiful. So happy to be there.
yeah, always. So, look for actually get to play
with you potentially tomorrow.
>> RB (52:51):
Yeah, tomorrow. If you, don't cancel, like, the last one.
But that's all good.
>> Jonathan (52:55):
The frost delay got me, bud. We'll blame it on that.
>> RB (52:57):
The frost delay got a lot of people. So, make sure you go over
to chasing birdies on instagram.
Chasing birdies. Any old episodes?
Chasing birdies.com has everyone we've
interviewed, including the Willie Robertson, which
we will say it was early on. Don't know
how good. We were, with that interview, so maybe we
(53:18):
gotta get him back on and chat a little bit after our duck
hunt.
>> Jonathan (53:22):
Let's do it, man. And, you guys out there tuning in
today, like I said earlier on, we do appreciate your
support. We hope you enjoyed the episode. And
it's hard to believe that the month of October is zipping on
through. But you enjoy your,
I guess, second to last weekend of, clown. Yeah, I guess it is
the last weekend of October coming up here.
>> RB (53:41):
And happy Halloween to everybody out there.
>> Jonathan (53:43):
Halloweeny.
>> RB (53:44):
Make sure you check that candy some. There's some creeps out there.
>> Jonathan (53:47):
And if you're still watching golf, the Zozo championships kicking
off today at accordia Golf country
club, Narasino country club, whatever the hell that is.
Never heard of it. And then you got a good little game tonight.
Minnesota and the Rams on Thursday night Football. But.
>> RB (54:01):
So get it going.
>> Jonathan (54:02):
And,
>> Speaker C (54:03):
Yeah.
>> Jonathan (54:03):
And pit. Oh, my God. All right, y'all,
we appreciate it very much. Thank you to Allie,
Ivo, Emily, for putting this thing together.
Jacqueline de Paterio, Rachel London, for all y'all's
help. And we will catch y'all in two.
>> RB (54:17):
Chase them.
