>> Speaker A (00:00):
Foreign.
>> Jonathan (00:07):
You guys out there tuning in today and
just hit play. Welcome to this week's
episode of Chasing birdies. My man.
>> RB (00:15):
J.P. what is shakin, dude?
>> Jonathan (00:18):
It feels good to see you again, man. I feel like, you know, it's one of
those things I see every other day.
>> RB (00:23):
Yeah. Between FaceTime and
all that. But, um, I cannot wait.
I mean, we are literally under three weeks
for our first golf trip.
>> Jonathan (00:34):
I thought you were going to say Christmas, dude. We're, we're actually.
>> RB (00:36):
Yeah, we're actually under a week. Yeah, we're
about six days away. Um, my children,
Parker and Peyton, remind me every day what the count
is, which is. It's a little exciting in the house,
dude. I mean, got the kids running around, the elves are moving and
grooving around the house. I mean, it's pretty
cool.
>> Jonathan (00:55):
Yeah. Well, good. I'm happy, uh, one of us
feels that way. I'm happy. I'm happy. And maybe you get
some Red Valley for Christmas, because I know you need some.
>> RB (01:03):
Yes. Yes.
And today's episode is brought to you by Red Vanley. So
make sure you go to redvanly.com check the boys
out. Uh, I haven't heard from Jimbo enough
in a little bit, so I hope that he's still kicking.
Um, you know, I saw him at the Rangers game
a few weeks ago, but I just
packed my bags for the golf trip, bud. No, as
(01:24):
you would imagine that I early packed, but I was just so excited
to lay the Red Valley shorts out and see
what, what I'm going to pair with it.
>> Jonathan (01:31):
So, um, I've been swinging the, the, the
stack, you know, the speed stack thing, just to keep me loose. You know,
I'm not really doing the exercises at this point, but anyways, I'm just
singing swing, swinging it to keep loose and whatnot. Hitting some
balls in the net. But, uh, this past
weekend I was hitting balls and,
um, here, look. My. Oh,
(01:51):
man, that's the finger
interlocking. Grip my nail. I must not have cut
my nail. Like, absolutely, like clear
cut. So I had a little piece pointing out and it just started
rip. I'm like, what in the heck is like doing? And it's. It was that.
So I cut myself. But I'm thinking
about when I'm addressing the ball, I feel like
(02:12):
sometimes we as, uh, amateur golfers get
sloppy and sometimes our head position at
address sometimes goes a little behind the
ball, which in theory makes sense to think
that you can hit it easier, like if your head's behind the
ball. So I was, I Was really kind of
trying to keep my head right, you know, even
(02:32):
feeling a little in front of the ball and the ball striking was
good. What do you think about that?
>> RB (02:36):
I don't even know what the. Yeah, I didn't, yeah, your
mind's blown. There's just too much going on there. So I, I
see y'all hit.
>> Jonathan (02:43):
Ball doesn't matter, so. Yeah, right, okay, but
understood.
>> RB (02:46):
Sounds good, man. I, I like what you're doing. Yeah.
So Prep preparation for 2025 is
underway officially.
>> Jonathan (02:54):
Yeah, no, it is. And I
scooped up uh, Benny a little set of clubs here
recently and uh, you know, try
to get him swinging it a little bit. But
Ashley's been,
yeah, I got him a little set and
uh, you know, we'll see what happens.
But how was your weekend? How was your week been? You guys
(03:17):
busy at the jewelry store? I see you guys posting stuff everywhere. You got
jewelry in left, right, and the other.
>> RB (03:22):
Yeah, the, the, your line's been moving and grooving boys in
the backs, in the back side of the building. So that's been
nice. Um, it's exciting.
Um, I think it might be our biggest year ever,
bud.
>> Jonathan (03:33):
Well, I mean, I'm m happy for you.
>> RB (03:36):
Which, that's exciting for everyone involved.
Um, but yeah, dude, it's, it's great.
So I'm excited for uh, the new
year. Set some new goals. You know, last year I
had or 2024, I, I, I mean my year was
summed up with a bat and a Q tip.
>> Jonathan (03:54):
Yeah.
>> RB (03:54):
Um, which, sorry, I don't think
we discussed the Q tip story.
Um, but I was leaving for a work trip about
two weeks ago and it was 4:30 in
the morning and I went to put a Q tip in
my ears just so I remember to clean my ears out. So I let it, I laid
a Q tip on in each like ear
canal. Just laid it in there
(04:16):
softly. And I went to throw my sport coat
on. Well, my right arm
hit the Q tip and drove it straight into my eardrum.
Punctured the eardrum. Oh,
Sounded m like I was in a tunnel for about two weeks.
But I feel like we're coming back a little bit, so.
>> Jonathan (04:34):
Damn, dude. Um, at least it gives you excuse you
could tell somebody can't hear it. Tell.
>> RB (04:38):
She's saying every time she talks to me, I go to, to like
where move her on my right side so I can't hear.
>> Jonathan (04:45):
I'm sorry to hear that. And I'm naturally acting like
that's the first time I heard this story. But uh, I did know that. I'm
happy you're getting better. Um, you know, it's funny. Jewelry.
Everyone needs to buy it every year, no matter what. You get the. You get
the little uptick in inflation. Prices are going up.
That's just because of it. And you still get the
sale, man. So kudos to you and BK for
(05:06):
doing what you do. You know, it's fun. It's fun,
but we are.
>> RB (05:09):
We're having fun doing it.
So.
>> Jonathan (05:11):
So today's episode, you
know, it's kind of a reconnecting episode, kind of a
weird episode. Not from a standpoint of,
you know, having someone on that that you all might know,
but we're connecting with a few buddies of
ours from the past and says, and
Sully, Ryan Sullivan actually plays on a Korn Ferry tour.
(05:32):
Really legitimate golfer, absolute smoke
and says is, uh, with acoustic net.
And, uh, the whole point of it was they had
a hell of a lot of stories to tell, man. And
I think that's. That's kind of why I
decided that this episode is just called Stories.
>> RB (05:49):
Stories from Story.
We already had that. But, yeah, I mean, we've got some
cool stories from Michael Jordan to
Donald J. Trump, um,
that you guys are gonna love to hear that. Um,
but I think, too, man, whenever people start listening, you know,
Sully, uh, to tell you guys
(06:10):
how hard the game of golf is, um,
and talk about chasing birdies, he legitimately did
that in 2024. On
Monday, qualifiers for the PGA Tour, everybody asked, well, why
aren't you playing? Or, why don't you try? So this is going to
answer everyone's questions, all right?
Sully shot 64 under par
cumulative for all the Monday
(06:32):
qualifiers this year, and he did not qualify for
one PGA Tour event. So for all
you people that, oh, my buddy's really good. My
buddy's awesome at golf. No, Bud, no. He
shot 64 under. Your buddy hasn't shot 64
under in his life, let alone.
So, um, but again, it's
(06:53):
to tell you how hard it really is out there. And.
And he is the definition of chasing birdies.
>> Jonathan (07:00):
So, yeah.
>> RB (07:01):
Um, without further ado, I think that we should roll it on over
to Sez and. And Sully and let them tell us a
little bit about what's been shaken down in the last couple
years.
>> Jonathan (07:10):
Yeah. Yeah. Let's go. You guys enjoy this
one. All right, you guys
tuning in today? Uh, we're joined
by two long lost friends of
ours, Pep and I, Kyle, who's
working with Acushnet companies right now. Title is Footjoy
for you people out there that don't know the lingo.
And our boy Sully. Ryan Sul Sullivan, who, you
(07:32):
know, played a couple PGA events, um, a
couple US Opens under his belt. But, uh, we just
felt like we hadn't connected with these guys in quite some time.
And. And today, with it being around the Christmas
holiday season, New year, I just wanted to
rekindle this relationship with you boys
and get you in the pod. So come on with
it.
>> Speaker A (07:52):
Let's go, man.
>> Jonathan (07:54):
I know this is the first time. Yeah, no,
it's a. This is a weird. It's a fourth. This would be a great
foursome, actually, on the golf course. I feel like. Yeah, I was
gonna say threesome, but worse.
Be a great one. Be a great one.
>> RB (08:08):
So, boys, it's good to see you.
Uh, um, I was just talking to Eric Childers, uh,
this morning, actually, and he. I said, I need some. Some extra
material here. And he didn't really give me much because he
said none of it's appropriate for the podcast. So
naturally, um, he didn't give me anything
other than asking you what your Tinder handicap
(08:28):
is. Um, do
you want to give me a plus minus on that, or.
>> Speaker A (08:34):
I mean, Sully's for sure, like, a plus nine.
I might be tickling the scratch. The scratch area, but
Sully's definitely a plus.
>> Speaker D (08:42):
I'm like Scotty Scheffler at the hero
challenge.
>> Jonathan (08:47):
Oh, yeah, he just.
>> RB (08:48):
That was thrown out. He said plus nine.
>> Speaker D (08:51):
So, yeah, with little, uh,
to no wind, you know.
>> Jonathan (08:56):
Yeah. Yeah. Well, good stuff,
man. So I'm happy you guys have handicaps outside of
golf. One, um, of you looks like a
Detroit Lions fan. Oh, yeah, you're still. You're still
the fan of the Detroit lines, buddy.
>> Speaker A (09:10):
I was there through thick and thin, man. I started with
the 0 and 16 season. I lived in Detroit when I worked for
Nike back about 15, 16 years ago.
Um, I was in Detroit for a few years and then spent, uh,
another five years in Grand Rapids, and, uh, yeah, man,
adopted them then. So I was with them before. It was cool
to be with them. And now, like, everybody, obviously, is jumping on the
bandwagon, but it's fun, man. It's fun to have a
(09:33):
team that's. That's. That's, you know, in the playoffs, back to back years, and
has a chance to win it all.
>> Jonathan (09:37):
Oh, yeah.
>> RB (09:38):
So you mentioned Nike, though. Our buddy Steve Piering, who's
a mutual friend of ours. Oh, yeah. He, um, told us he
was the CEO of Nike whenever he was there Is that, like,
part of the partially true or what?
>> Speaker A (09:49):
Like, I think I told you, Pep. I think, like, I love Peering to death,
but I think, uh, you know, 90 of his
stories are a little fabricated. There's definitely not
all of them. But as we know, like, he gets a little bit
excited, and the. The story, like, just grows and
grows every year.
>> RB (10:04):
Well, you. Bash plays every year with him
at the Two man and Pronghorn, which that's actually
changing this year because Bash, uh, he won't say
it, but he just can't take it anymore.
There's just a letdown. It's every year to let down, dude.
Piering always tells us how good he's playing going into the
event, but he's not good enough to control that game
(10:25):
yet. And, like, so he's playing great. It's the
best golf I've ever played. And he gets there and makes, like, three pars and 18 holes
per batch.
>> Jonathan (10:32):
Yeah, well, and now he's blaming it on me, you know, because
he. He tells me how well he's playing outside
of. Outside of me as his partner, you know, so he
thinks that the. The myus of his games
stems from me, which that might be true, but, you know,
peering has definitely been, um.
I mean, you just gotta laugh sometimes, man.
>> Speaker D (10:53):
Right?
>> Jonathan (10:54):
You just gotta laugh.
>> Speaker A (10:55):
Hey, there. There may or may not have
been an ask for me to come out this year. So I
don't know if y'all had a divorce yet, Bash, but he may have said,
like, he says, can you make it to Proghorn in September?
And I was like, I know this is. But I don't know if that's, you know.
You know, I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but
that may or may not have been talked about last week.
>> RB (11:16):
It looks like you and I are partners. This looks like it's all shaping
into.
>> Jonathan (11:19):
What I tell you what.
Yeah, we gotta have a chat because, you know, it's. If
he wants to mutually part ways, I would do it.
Um, it wouldn't be the same. It would not be the same,
I can tell you that.
>> Speaker A (11:32):
But, boy, that was pretty easy. That Bass was kind of ready for this.
He's like, oh, I dropped him for.
>> RB (11:37):
A way out, and he got one, and you confirmed it, so we're good
now.
>> Jonathan (11:41):
I think he just wants to play better, and I don't think
he, you know, does that with me.
>> RB (11:45):
But with Sully's U.S. open appearances,
you might want to be taking him, bud, not me.
>> Jonathan (11:51):
Well, I don't know, Sully. I mean, you know, it sounds like
you had, uh, some, some pretty good runs
in that era.
>> Speaker D (11:58):
Yeah, I mean, I like to think I'm still
healthy and playing good golf right now.
I think as you get older, you try to play the
numbers game and look at certain instances like
Philly, Mick, right? Like, that cat wins the PGA
at 50 or 51.
And, you know, he's no exact
(12:19):
fitness, uh, uh, model himself. So if
you're doing the right things, I don't see why
you can't go out, you know, Bernhard longer. That Guy's
in his 60s, and he's like the Tiger woods of
the Champions Tour. I actually had a conversation with my
buddy Tim O'Neill last night, who won recently
on the Champions Tour, and he told me
(12:40):
that, um, Bernhardt hits a seven
iron, like 150 yards. Like, he's not that
short off the tee, but his irons
are unbelievably short. But the, the thing
that separates him, right, is he can get it in the hole
and his irons, uh, are straight and he's
accurate. So at the end of the day, it doesn't really
matter what club you're hitting. But I
(13:03):
think, you know, not to get off topic, but nowadays you hear a
lot about distance and hitting the ball
as far as you could possibly hit it. But there's definitely something to be
said about guys like Bernhard and
the Brendan Todd's of the world.
>> Jonathan (13:17):
Yeah, yeah, 100%.
>> RB (13:19):
I think Ryan falls into that. He doesn't hit it a long way, but he knows
where he's going.
>> Jonathan (13:23):
Yeah, I mean, I hit it long enough, but, yeah, I
don't hit it. I'm not a long hitter, but
I'm not necessarily a short knocker either.
>> RB (13:31):
Bernard Langer, I mean, that guy defines time. Time.
>> Speaker A (13:34):
Crazy.
>> RB (13:35):
I mean, I went through a similar injury, not the
Achilles. Got hurt playing Wiffle ball.
Snapped my ankle. And
I hate to say it, and I actually
just. I mean, my demise this year, boys,
has been a Q tip and a Wiffle ball bat. I just blew
my eardrum out with a Q tip last week, so
(13:56):
stop it.
>> Speaker A (13:56):
Oh, my God.
>> RB (13:58):
So we're falling apart over here, boys. I'm ready for
20, 25. Um, but I mean,
Sully, you. You just got done with second round of,
uh, second stage, you know, Q school,
and you had 22 birdies and 72 holes. I mean, I
haven't made 22 birdies in a year.
That's exciting. You're obviously playing good golf.
(14:19):
And I guess for, for some of the Listeners, how do
you trying
to make. It is so much patience, right? Because
you're obviously playing well, but you're also probably making
some stupid mistakes that you're not. That you probably don't
make, right? And it's just like, how do you mentally
hold that together?
>> Speaker D (14:39):
Oh, yeah. I mean, for. I'll give you. I'll give you.
I'll give you a little context. Like, this year, I played
maybe 16 tour Mondays, right?
And I was 64 under par.
So I'm averaging more than four under around.
And I missed. I didn't get into a single one. I missed
nine or 10 by one or two shots.
>> RB (14:59):
So, I mean, you should 64 cumulative
under par and never got into one PGA
Tour.
>> Speaker D (15:05):
I think it's the first time in my career that I've, like, not
qualified for a tour event. And the weird thing
is, like, I felt like I played my most consistent
golf this year. I switched insane to me. I switched to the
lab putter, uh, last year. And that
was been. That's been a great transition, uh,
for me making, uh, that change because,
(15:25):
you know, if you're missing putts inside of six, eight
feet more than you should, there's just. There's no
making up for that. And so that's been a great
addition to my bag. And unfortunately, I wasn't
able to showcase that, uh, in an actual
tour event this year because I was just the bubble boy. I was the
poster child for bubble boy. I should start a
(15:46):
podcast, actually, called.
>> RB (15:47):
The Bubble Boy Podcast
Talk or Two Guys, One Cup.
>> Speaker D (15:56):
Um, but, you know, it's a very.
I recently went on a podcast, and the guy was
congratulating me. The host was saying, you know, congrats on
a great year. And it's a weird feeling to hear that because
usually when you think of, like, success, you
can kind of have a little bit of a direct correlation to
compensation. But when your bank account goes the other
way and you feel like your golf game is getting
(16:18):
better, it's just a very weird emotion.
And, uh, you know, back to your point of staying
patient, I think that you have to really cliche.
Trust the process and know that the work that you're doing
is going to parlay success. You know, maybe
not immediately, but it's just like math, right,
guys? Like, if you are consistently knocking on the
door, uh, it's very likely that
(16:40):
you'll bust that door down sooner than later.
>> Jonathan (16:44):
Yeah.
>> RB (16:45):
Is that what 64 under did?
>> Speaker A (16:47):
Silly not to go, like, host mode here, but I just
curious, like, let's go.
What's the mentality like though on a Monday versus like a,
you know, four day Q school that you just got done doing. Like, I mean
obviously you're just gonna try to, you're trying to rip birdies, right? You know, you
gotta shoot 64, 65. But like, how does that
mindset, it's gotta be just gnarly.
>> Speaker D (17:05):
Yeah, no, that's a great question. Uh,
because in a Monday, right, like let's just
say for simplistic purposes, we have
150 guys in the field and there's
only four spots allocated, you know, that
you're going to have to put up a pretty low score on the board, right.
Like, assuming the golf course is
relatively benign, you're going to have to shoot six or
(17:27):
seven under par. So if you get off to a
slow start and you're even through six holes, you
really have to turn the jets on, otherwise you're burning
daylight. And whereas in a four
round tournament you might not be, you know, too
bad a shape being even par through six or seven holes because you got
a ton of golf left to play. So I actually, you know, I'm
(17:47):
full capable of going out and shooting nine under
par, but I would prefer to have a
four round tournament, uh, where I can, you
know, not be out of it after shooting a three
under par. Right, right. So Q
school for me is actually, I, I, I don't mind it
in terms of the structure, but it obviously
(18:07):
sucks when you have to go out and
perform that week, you know, and you could
play great perfectly all year long
and all of a sudden you have like one bad
round or one not. I kind of had a, a
middling week. I shot one under every single day.
I think I shot even the last day, but I missed by
(18:27):
five. The number to get out was eight. And I was
telling the guys before you got on, you know, it was 32
degrees three out of the four days, um,
you can't hardly feel your hands. I felt like an
arthritic geriatric out there trying to play for my
tour card. And you know,
uh, you can't, you know, you can make excuses, but
it's not going to do anything. Like it is what it is. Everybody had to
(18:49):
deal with it. And um, kudos to the
guys, the, I guess 17 guys that shot eight
under better. That's solid playing on a
7,600 yard golf course and the greens are rolling
like, uh, what did Gary McCord say?
Bikini wax on a swimsuit
stuff, something on a goal.
>> Jonathan (19:10):
Yeah, it's the uh, the
jolly Trot, man, you. It sounds like you were doing a jolly trot a
lot this year, man. That's. That's the trot. You know, in
between the holes, when you're walking to your ball, you know, you're under par
your're trying not to think about it, but you're feeling really good, and you're just
kind of, you know, you just kind of grooving and moving a little bit. And I
think, you know, that's what separates so
many of the, I don't want to say
(19:32):
amateur, the. The top echelon of amateur golfers
to these pros, and then specifically from just
regular golfers to upper echelon amateur
golfers is the fact that people don't know how to
control that sometimes, you know, next thing you know, you.
You get in a situation, you're four, five under par, you're
feeling good, you're jolly right. Yeah.
>> RB (19:52):
But you're trying not to make mistake.
>> Jonathan (19:54):
And then. Yeah, and then. Then bogey happens, and then it's the.
>> Speaker D (19:57):
Old, uh, uh, the
fu app, right? Like, it's all situational. There's levels
to it. There's guys that are, let's say, scratch
golfers, and they're two or three under par and they're
trying not to up versus, like, let's push.
Let's push the needle and get it to 4 or 5.
>> RB (20:14):
Pedal the metal, boys.
>> Speaker D (20:15):
Yeah, absolutely. You know, um,
so, you know, again, back to the point of,
like, Kyle asking what the difference is.
When somebody back home that's supporting me sees
my scorecard, right, and they see I make a, uh. Let's just
say I hypothetically make a late double boge on a
par five. That's a risky par five. And they're like, well,
why didn't you lay up? It was like, well, listen here,
(20:37):
hobnob, if I lay up and make birdie,
I'm gonna miss by one. It doesn't do me any good,
right? If I need that situational eagle, I have
to do the tin cup and go for it and 2.
Otherwise, I'm trunk slam. And it doesn't make a difference if
I shoot two under par or five under par. When
you need six under par, that's what you need.
(20:57):
Um, you know, and there's a lot of
these idiosyncrasies and subtle nuances
to Monday qualifying versus
four. Ah, day tournament that people don't understand. It's a
very weird dynamic when you shoot
500 par bogey free, and you trunk slam
and you drive to the next town and you just cost yourself
(21:18):
fifteen hundred dollars. And it's like, man, I feel like a loser because
I didn't get one of those four spots. But at the
same time, I'm playing some really good golf
and I just need that break, right? And I've
had, you know, I don't know, 50 starts
maybe on the kornferry web.com so I've had my
opportunities, but I didn't have my lab
(21:38):
like snake killing broom putter in the past, which I
would have loved to have had because I, I may
have been on, you know, uh, the live or the
PGA Tour by now and.
>> RB (21:49):
What, Scotty Cameron didn't make one for you, huh?
>> Speaker D (21:51):
No, Scott.
>> RB (21:55):
I know a guy by
Childers. But you know, we were just
with, we, um, were just with. And this
question was asked. It was. We were sitting around table at Old
Hickory and I never really thought of it, but,
um, what is the worst golf course you've ever
played? And there were two responses
that were hilarious at the table. One was from Tyler Reeve. He
(22:17):
said, I don't play bad golf courses
because he's just, he's a golf course snob. He
is. And John Daly said
anything that the usga,
anywhere the USGA puts a tournament on is the worst
golf course.
>> Speaker D (22:32):
I know. He hates pine earth number two.
>> RB (22:34):
Oh, that, uh, 17, where he just
smashes it across the green. So for you guys,
are there any golf courses? You're just like this
dumb lady just.
>> Jonathan (22:46):
Turned off the lights in the whole house. That's nice.
>> Speaker A (22:48):
Nice. Nice. I mean, I'm always,
I don't know about like, yeah, like you guys, but I feel like I
always kind of rate. This is gonna sound maybe shallow, but I always like to
rate the golf course by like greens, greens and
green speed first. You know, I think I kind of, I start at the greens,
work my way back kind of thing. Um, I mean, layout
obviously is important, but for me, if I'm playing a golf
(23:08):
course and it's. If it might be, you know, I play some, some
like, amateur stuff, some higher level amateur stuff across kind of
the Midwest. And if I'm playing, uh, a, you know, mid AM
qualifier and you go out there and the greens are rolling
seven and a half. I've had that before where they're rolling seven, seven and a half and
you're just ripping putts all day and it's not what it should
be like. To me, that's just, that's, that's going to be in
(23:28):
the back of my mind, like, I don't like this golf course. And, um, it's nothing
to do maybe, with the layout, but that's the way I've always kind of
looked at them. But I don't know about you, Sully, but I'm sure, like,
you guys are always playing pristine, like, elevens, I'm sure on, um, the
green wise, but I'm always ranking kind of
greens first is how I look at it.
>> Speaker D (23:44):
But I would rather play a golf course that's a little rough
around the edges, that has good greens,
than vice versa, where a golf course is,
like, nice, but then the green suck. So I.
I agree with you in that point.
>> RB (23:57):
In terms of looking basically Yakag.
You would love Yakagani. The greens are good. Everything
else is.
>> Jonathan (24:03):
So that's a. Yeah, that's a good. That's a good point. And I
would agree with you. I think Pep would, too.
>> Speaker D (24:08):
Like, I don't. I don't know that I necessarily
directly agree with JD in terms of, like, just because it's
a usga, but I think that's something I do,
uh, find similar to. What he's probably getting at
is that he doesn't think the USGA sets golf courses up
fair for their championships. And I tend to
dislike courses that punish you
(24:28):
unfairly for, like, good shots. And I've played golf
courses like Fire Wheel. Fire Wheel is a
course near Dallas, Texas, that we've played for Q
school. And they've got holes out there where, like,
get hit a shot that's really not that bad, and then you find yourself out
of bounds. It's like, all right, this isn't fun. You know, like, this
is just not. This is not how golf is meant to be
(24:48):
played. And this is coming from a professional standpoint. So you can
imagine what a handicap golfer would feel like if
they're out there and they're going through a dozen golf
balls by the front nine.
>> RB (24:59):
Sully, I. I, uh, have a question for you.
Um, you know, Donald J. Trump
was, uh, just named president a few weeks ago, and,
um, I understand that you've caddied in his
group, um, or caddy for him.
>> Speaker D (25:13):
No, I played with him.
>> RB (25:15):
I played with him.
>> Speaker D (25:16):
I was. I was his partner.
>> RB (25:18):
Oh, you were.
>> Speaker D (25:19):
I'd appreciate if you never disrespect me.
>> Speaker A (25:21):
Like that, but I might have gave some bad
intel.
>> RB (25:26):
I mean, but don't get mad at me, all right?
>> Speaker D (25:28):
That was just secondhand information.
>> RB (25:31):
So you've played with Donald Trump.
Okay. Fill me in on his putting and what
that round was like, because I think it's hysterical when he's playing
golf. Just the pants so far up everything.
>> Speaker D (25:42):
Yeah. So I'll just give you the full
scoopy real quick. I was down in, um,
West Palm beach last year during the week of the
PGA tournament at pga, ah, national. And my
buddy Marcus Bird, um, was playing in
the event and he missed the cut. So he reached out to
me on Friday and asked if I
(26:02):
was in town still. And I told him I was and he goes,
well, let's go, let's go run it at Trump
International right near Mar a Lago. I was like, sick because
I've never, I played the one in Jupiter. I love that course
next to Bears. And so, uh,
we had a tee time for let's say 9:00am
So I mean I treat this shit serious. I get out there
(26:23):
at 8:00am um, warming up. I'm taking
it very serious. I want to play good.
And uh, Kyle Berkshire, the world number
one, uh, long driver is a guy, uh, that I've
been around a little bit. And he was going to play with us as well because him
and Marcus are both from Baltimore, right.
So they've played together in the past. So Kyle and I are
warming up on the range and uh, funny
(26:46):
little side story, while we're waiting on Marcus,
Kyle's launching eight irons into the stratosphere.
And I've got binoculars looking up and he's asking
me if he, I think he should chase
pro golf. And I'm like, I don't know how to
let him down nicely other than just say, look, you're
making a million dollars plus a year with Cobra
and all the stuff. Like, stick to doing what you do
(27:08):
best, right?
>> RB (27:09):
Because stay in your lane.
>> Speaker D (27:10):
You're not going to beat, you're not going to beat
me and you're definitely not going to beat Scotty
Scheffler, uh, in a
72 hole golf tournament, you know. But,
um, anyway, so Marcus
may or may not have had a little bit of too, too many
surveys on Friday night. So he was slow
getting out to the course on Saturday
(27:31):
morning. And apparently before
Marcus ended up finally getting out there, Trump and his
guys showed up on the front slab and
they got wind that Kyle was on property. And
Trump loves watching Kyle blast it, you know,
400 plus. So he sent a couple of guys
to the back to, to bring us to the front. And
you know, obviously, uh, with Secret Service,
(27:54):
well, I mean, actually maybe too soon, but with the
Secret Service he had at the time, they were able
to pull, uh, up my file and see, I Didn't have
any outstanding warrants, and I was a pro golfer. And
so when I met him, he asked me, you know, Sully, wait a minute.
>> RB (28:09):
Real quick timeout. So they actually, like, they
knew.
>> Speaker D (28:13):
They.
>> Speaker A (28:13):
They.
>> Speaker D (28:14):
Yeah, like, if you're on the property, they're
gonna vet you. They're gonna know, like, who's around, obviously.
Right.
>> RB (28:20):
I wish they would have, like, pulled your Tinder profile. Like, is this you?
>> Speaker D (28:23):
This guy?
>> Speaker A (28:24):
This guy. He's definitely playing with Trump today.
>> Speaker D (28:27):
Yeah. Uh,
from my vodka. Anyway, so
I, uh, I went up and shook his hand, and it was a.
It was a pretty surreal feeling, you know, because I've met a lot
of big time people like Kyle Sesniak and
so forth, and I've been, uh, I've been able to
handle it pretty well. And he said, all right, you're the
(28:49):
pro. Hit me an eight iron. So I pulled out my eight
iron, I striped it, dead straight. And then he said,
hit me a driver. I striped driver, dead straight. And he
goes, kyle, I got Sully. And
I'm, uh, like, holy crap. Like this. This is not what I
was expecting. So now me and Uncle
Donnie and one other guy is playing against,
(29:09):
uh, um, Kyle
Berkshire and three guys. And, you know,
I. Like we just mentioned earlier with,
uh, my buddy McGowan and first tee jitters at US
Open. Like, there's levels to this. So I've
been. I've been nervous, but this is a different kind of
nervous when you are being watched by
a very historical figure.
(29:31):
It's. It's a cool different feeling.
And I ended up bogeying my first hole. And.
And President Trump parted, and he ribbed
me going to the next tee. He said, uh, sully, I thought you were the
pro. And, uh, so I go And
I birdie seven of the next 11 and kind
of let, uh, him know what's up. And by the end of the
(29:51):
day, I think I shot
67. And he signed my
card. 45. 47. Right. He was
manifesting his, uh, next win. No, when was
this? And my dumb. This is last
March. And I had the scorecard, and
I left it in my rental car and.
>> Speaker A (30:09):
Oh, no, you sent me a photo of
that.
>> Speaker D (30:12):
Oh, yeah, I have a photo of it, but the card
is mia and,
uh, so we had lunch after, and
it was a really, you know, it was a presidential
table. Round table. Had a really good.
Yeah, exactly. And, uh,
Berkshire was really complimentary. He said that he's
played a lot of golf with, um, DeChambeau,
(30:34):
and he's never seen um, Bryson
hit his irons as well as I did that day, which was a nice, you
know, thing to hear, and especially in front of Trump. And
as you guys know, Trump really likes playing with good golfers and
being around pretty women. So I think that that round
of golf, uh, kind of spurred on
more interactions. So I ended up,
(30:54):
uh, getting an invite to, uh, Mar A
Lago. I had dinner, um, with
him there. I had another lunch with
Angelina Jolie's dad. Um,
and, uh, I met,
uh, some really prolific people in the political
realm. And then I ended up getting flown up to New York
City and going and meeting, uh, Greg
(31:16):
Norman at the live event at Bedminster with the hopes
of maybe getting a live start. You know, like, when we were
at dinner at Mar A Lago, Trump asked me, if
he were to, you know, make it happen, if I would go. And I. I
looked him right in the eye, and I said, I will convert, uh, to
Islam. You just show me where to sign.
>> Speaker A (31:35):
Only with the only solely could infiltrate the
president and all the people that he's surrounded by. It's
amazing.
>> Jonathan (31:42):
So that is. That. I mean, I can't
believe he lost the card.
>> Speaker D (31:47):
Yeah, that's. That's probably one of my biggest
regrets, you know.
>> Jonathan (31:51):
But so what happened? So, to live, they.
>> Speaker D (31:54):
So I. Right around the time that I met
Greg, uh, out there at Bedminster,
um, it was when John Rom
went and kind of made the contractual
agreement. So when you've got, like, you know,
the world number one or two switching over, it becomes
a bit of a closed shop. Right? Like, it was. I was
(32:14):
really thankful that I got in front of Greg and had
a conversation with him and got my face to the name and all
that jazz. But at the same time, the
Lefties were, like, suing the. Out of Trump. And it
was not good timing because I. I couldn't
exactly, like, call him up and be like, hey, remember that
whole, like, live conversation? So,
(32:35):
um, yeah, like, I'm still.
>> RB (32:37):
You still. Do you still communicate with him?
>> Speaker D (32:40):
So I had his secretary's
email, and, um, I would reach
out to her and then coordinate that way.
And I also have his best friend's cell
phone number and a very prominent, uh,
CEO of a news station's
information. So with those contacts, that's kind
(33:00):
of how I, uh, quote, unquote, infiltrate
the, uh, president.
>> Speaker A (33:05):
We still, uh, Sully.
>> Speaker D (33:06):
We.
>> Speaker A (33:07):
So just so you guys know, we little tie in. Uh, after Sully
did all this and show me pictures of the scorecard,
he actually sent me a photo that's actually Kind of
a, uh, lot. What Pep has in the background over his head,
um, a mural of Trump wearing, like, a Tommy
Hilfiger sweater, looking all young.
>> Speaker D (33:24):
Oh, yeah, that was it. Ah, that was at Mar a Lago.
Yeah. Like, it was very, like, it was like a wedding
crashers, like, mural type thing.
>> Speaker A (33:32):
It was amazing.
>> RB (33:33):
But.
>> Speaker A (33:33):
But because of this, I was like, hey, Sully, we got to, like, get Trump
a little thank you gift. And luckily, Obviously, working for
FootJoy was like, Sully, here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to order
a pair of my joys because I know he wears FootJoy shoes.
Um, he wears that all white upper right with, like, a black midsole.
I'm like, sully, I'm going to put together a little custom pair.
So this again, back a year ago, whatever it was, we did a
(33:54):
American flag on one heel because we can obviously, uh, do
some customized, uh, customization on the heel. And then on the
other heel, we put 45, 47.
And so, uh, I shipped them down to Sully's guy,
put a little thank you card in there for Sully. And. And, like, I
didn't. I never got him to him. So I've been looking for,
like, every time I see Trump on social media, I'm, like, looking down at the shoes, trying to
(34:14):
see if there's a little heel, American flag or a little.
>> Speaker D (34:17):
Can you imagine? Can you imagine if, uh, that
nut job had, like, picked them off at the golf
course and they, like, found him on the fairway and he
was wearing those shoes?
>> RB (34:27):
Right, Right.
>> Speaker A (34:29):
Yeah, that was pretty cool, man. M. Yeah,
that's.
>> Jonathan (34:32):
That's.
>> RB (34:33):
That's the coolest part of this whole story, is that he signed the
scorecard a year and a half ago and put 45,
47.
>> Speaker A (34:39):
Right?
>> Speaker D (34:40):
Yes.
>> Jonathan (34:40):
Poor Shadow.
>> Speaker D (34:41):
Yeah, he was manifest, baby.
>> Speaker A (34:43):
Yeah.
>> Jonathan (34:43):
Yeah.
So, Kyle, you getting, uh, you and Sully,
I mean, it sounds like you guys are kind of yucking it up a little bit
together.
>> Speaker A (34:52):
We. We go. We go a little ways back. We've had some,
uh, some late nights out.
>> RB (34:56):
Uh, I got.
>> Speaker D (34:57):
I got to play with Kyle in St. Louis years
back, and I didn't know him at the time, but I
was really impressed with his game. And then to find out
he works, you know, uh, a job, and
he's not out grinding like I am every day was
made it all the more impressive that he's able to just, you
know, go out there and ball strike it with the pros.
(35:18):
He definitely could have fooled me.
>> Speaker A (35:20):
I appreciate that. We had fun. It was like, what,
the Missouri Open or whatever?
>> Speaker D (35:24):
It was kind of the St. Louis Open. Our guy runs, uh,
a good tournament there at the Metropolitan. Kurt Rowe. Shout out
to Kurt Rowe.
>> Speaker A (35:31):
Yeah, Kurt. Kurt is the best. So, yeah, it was cool. We met then. Met
then and, uh, kind of came fast friends. We're both kind of a
very similar personality that way. And, uh, yeah, we've had some,
uh, some other late, late, late days, late nights,
uh, outside the golf course, too.
>> Speaker D (35:44):
So just a couple flaming heterosexuals
that are trying to make it, you know, I. I can.
>> Jonathan (35:50):
Yeah, I. I hear you. So.
But your golf. I mean, I know you said you played a lot of high
Enameter events, um, but in your
capacity right now, with Footjoy and Titleists and
whatnot, I mean, what.
>> RB (36:01):
What.
>> Jonathan (36:01):
What are your main operations or what you're ahead
of?
>> Speaker A (36:05):
I'm more. I'm more of, uh. Now I'm more on the member, uh,
guest circuit. I feel like that's like.
>> Jonathan (36:10):
Yeah.
>> Speaker A (36:11):
As you boys know, is there. I mean, is there literally anything better as,
uh, as an alpha male that is in his 40s
who's competitive as. Like, is there. Honestly, is there anything
better? You can't just go pick up a basketball and go run at the Y
and at a high level or, you know, go pick up a baseball bat
and go play baseball. But, I mean, you can compete with one of your
boys drinking, smoking, doing all that stuff, right?
(36:32):
Having a stogie, and you're out competing in member
guest play. And, like, for me, that there's nothing better. Like, that's
the one thing I'll. I still play in a few, you know,
amateur events around town. But, um, you know, if I want to get
my game sharp, it's around, like, member guest stuff because that's. There's nothing
better.
>> Jonathan (36:47):
Yeah, the member guest gets circled on the calendar, like, a
year in advance. Like, hey, we just finished
Saturdays round, last nine hole match. Hey,
hey, Bob, you know when. When this is next year. What's the date?
>> Speaker A (36:59):
Right? Say that day.
>> Jonathan (37:00):
21St, 24th. All right. Pep, do you hear that?
>> Speaker A (37:02):
Get the misses locked up. You're telling her. This is an annual thing. You
sell once and you're all in. You're in forever. So that's. There's nothing better,
man.
>> Jonathan (37:09):
But okay, I got a question for you. How do you, like,
when you're. Okay going back
to kind of the whole thing with Piering? You know, we played Pronghorn now
for, I don't know, five years, six years. But, like,
at what Point. And this is a question for
both you, so you can answer it separately. But at what
point do you
(37:31):
say, you know what? It might be time to get a new partner? I mean, this isn't a
perpetual thing. You know what I mean? So,
uh, at what point? Like, what is it, dude?
>> Speaker A (37:39):
It's hard. I mean, I'll let Sully answer, too, but I think. I mean, it's
just one of those things you don't, you know, if you go three, four, five
years in a row not getting it done, and maybe you start having those,
like, weird bickering moments or those moments of, like,
where someone misses that four footer and they give you that look, and
you're like, that look means we need a divorce, man. You know what I'm saying? Like, we all
know that look, right? Like, somebody hit that. That foul
(37:59):
ball shot, and you're like, you look at that guy like, what the was that? Right? So,
like that.
>> Speaker D (38:03):
If you're getting the same vibes of, like, tension you
have at home, um, with your wife when you're arguing, then it's time
to split.
>> Speaker A (38:10):
I'm annoyed by my partner vibe. You know?
It's like, all right, man. Man, let's. Let's be done with this.
>> Jonathan (38:15):
Right?
>> RB (38:15):
Like, I don't think we Bash. I haven't gotten. I mean,
maybe you have, but I haven't gotten to that point with you yet.
>> Jonathan (38:20):
Well, I don't.
>> Speaker A (38:22):
That's good. Yeah.
>> Jonathan (38:23):
I mean, I don't get it.
>> Speaker D (38:24):
Y'all are still in the honeymoon phase.
>> RB (38:26):
Yeah, we're still in love.
>> Jonathan (38:28):
I don't ever bicker with Steve. We don't bicker. I. I
just shake my head. I'm like, what in the hell did you.
>> RB (38:34):
He put this video collage together from last year.
You have to send it to them. It is the funniest
thing ever of Steve peering in the woods,
walking on the woods, hitting it out of the woods,
topping it, walking off the tee from his top tee
shot. Like, it is the funniest thing you've ever
seen.
>> Jonathan (38:52):
I know.
>> Speaker A (38:52):
Um, I think, too, like, it might get to a point, too. I
don't know if it's. You know, sometimes it gets to a point where, like, those vibes
start going kind of a little bit south or whatever. And then all of a
sudden, you know, that person kind of is losing confidence
now because he's thinking like, oh, man, my partner. I said, I've been
playing great, and I just made, you know, three straight doubles. And he's looking at
me like, what the fuck you know, and I think that's. That. That can add a little
(39:13):
bit of random pressure for no reason. That's just internal
shit that you do to yourself, right, with like a certain partner.
But, I mean, that's just. I don't know, it's just funny.
>> Jonathan (39:22):
Um, no, it is. And I don't take offense.
You know what I mean? Like, in other words, if someone
was breaking up with me, I'd be like, yo,
good luck, man. I hope it works out for you.
That's great, you know,
but some people might not be like that. What do you think, Sully? I mean,
you think that's you probably on the same page as Kyle.
>> Speaker D (39:43):
I mean, not again, not to veer off topic
here, but hearing that last bit kind of made me think of
something in that I play a lot of pro ams, right? So I
get a different variety of personalities
and egos and all that stuff. And
there's nothing more humbling than the game of golf, right? You
know, and I'll. And I'll meet some of these corporate bigwig
guys who, you know, if it's a pro am day, we're all supposed
(40:06):
to be on a team, so I'm obviously, obviously rooting. We're supposed to have a good
time. But there are just some epic douchebags that you'll meet
in the corporate world and in life. And it's almost
low key, hilarious to watch a guy like that
struggle and top a ball or play.
Like. And they'll always have an excuse,
right? Like, it's not them. It's. Something's wrong with
(40:26):
the club, um, or whatever. It's like, dude, you're
awful. Like, you're absolutely terrible. And if
you weren't such a douche, like, it wouldn't
be so funny. But, you know, because
you are the way that you are. I just feel like it's karma
or something. I don't know.
>> Jonathan (40:41):
Yeah, right. I was playing once with some. Someone like
that, and, um, I remember it was a
fly. Do you guys see that fly? That fucking.
It was buzzing around. I should have backed off. I should have backed off,
right?
>> Speaker D (40:53):
But, yeah, there's never any accountability
ever.
>> Speaker A (40:57):
Yeah. This is the one game you cannot hide from, right?
You can. There's no. Nobody you can pass the ball to and say he missed the shot.
There's no. I mean, it's all on you, right? That's the best part about it. But these could.
Obviously there's a fly, you know, too.
>> Speaker D (41:06):
But they kind of go back to the Trump
thing. I really. Kudos. To Trump,
because for a guy who's so
widely criticized and it's so
easy for the other side to hate on him. Like, he's
actually a good golfer. Like, I. I played
with him, right? And I was impressed with his
ball striking. Like, I know, uh, Pepe
(41:29):
was asking about his, um, short game and putting, and
that's something that I gave him a little tip on
midway through the round. If you watch his golf
swing, right, He's. He's a rounder individual. I don't know
if it's ozempic or what that fluctuates. But his
golf swing, he takes it inside,
and his short game is very similar. He whips
(41:49):
the wedge inside early, and he comes
in shallow and from the inside. And so
he struggles on that Florida Bermuda
with catching it, you know, heavy or riding up
the face. So I gave him a tip on how to be steeper
and more on plane. And the first chip he tried from
30ft, he made it. And he looked at me like,
(42:10):
you're my. You're my dude. And that was a really
cool moment for me, I think. Kind of like you were talking about with the
scorecard being a really memorable, uh,
piece like him chipping in after I helped him with it with
it was one of the coolest things I've, uh, I've
seen.
>> RB (42:24):
That sucks. You lost that scorecard. I would have reached out to people and
be like, hey, I'm gonna send you a scorecard. I'm gonna fill it out. Can you have them
sign it again?
>> Speaker D (42:31):
And, you know, I really went through a dark time,
Pepe, uh, for that. And so I, I. You know, for you to
bring it up like that right now is still too soon. But I
get what you're getting at.
>> RB (42:41):
Yeah.
>> Speaker A (42:44):
Boys, going on that. That humbling, not, uh, to
ramble on a story and say, let's go. I told Pep about a
story. Story, uh, back in the day, of me caddy and for Michael
Jordan. So, uh, the goat. Yeah,
so. So just maybe that's why I'm getting confused.
>> RB (42:58):
So I apologize. I insulted you. I'm wrong.
I'm sorry. All right.
>> Speaker A (43:02):
Hey, look at that. What a man.
>> Speaker D (43:03):
Mistakes haven't worked in we're human.
>> Speaker A (43:06):
So this is back, boys. This is back, like, 2003,
right? I had been, like, the longest tenured caddy at this really
great club in St. Louis called Old Warston Country
Club. I, uh, actually hosted the 71 Ryder Cup.
It's iconic. It's a Robert Trent Jones. Uh,
but anyways, like, I've been The longest tenured caddy, uh, at the
club. I've been there since I was 11 years old. My parents, which is probably
(43:27):
illegal, dropped me off with my brother when I was a little
kid. Did my time, did my, like 10, 11
years. And now it's 2003.
And we all know, everyone at the club knows Michael Jordan's
coming on Saturday because he had been in town for some, like, his, you know,
AAU basketball tournament for his son.
And, um, we know Michael Jordan to be there on Saturday.
And I'm on the bag, I get my name on the loop. Like, you're the guy
(43:49):
going with them. Figure it out. But as we all
know, boys, we've all played with celebrities, solely played
pro ams, all this stuff. Like, you get down to the first,
you know, to the driving range area, and in the green, you're trying
to, like, you know, you're trying to meet everybody. And people
are jockeying all over. Caddies are kind of jumping in like, hey, man, let me go
with you. Let me, let me be in the group also. I'm like, hey, boys,
(44:10):
like, stay the away. Like, this is my day. I've done my
time. You've been here, you've been here for a minute.
>> Speaker D (44:14):
My moment.
>> Speaker A (44:16):
Yeah, so. So anyways, like, shit's going on, you know, Guys are trying to get
their games ready. He's got like, Charles Oakley there. He's got like some
St. Louis guys, Ozzy Smith, they're all in this, like, group of like
16 guys are gonna go play. So finally
we get to the first tee. It's me and my buddy Austin gets in the group,
right? And so, like, I'm gonna, I'm gonna ride. We're
around the back of the carts, just do a little four caddy job, give them
distances, do all that, read their greens, break their bunkers,
(44:39):
right? So get out there. MJ's pretty
cool. He's got these like, you can imagine, like
2003 style. He's got this like, black mock turtleneck with like
these like, mustard yellow pants on six foot six
dude. And we're going around, we get, we
get, you know, it's kind of like whatever, feeling everybody out. They got their games
going, thousand a hole, whatever it is. We get to the fifth
hole and, uh, at old worst, it's a beautiful hole
(45:01):
off, off a bluff. And, uh, I'm with
mj and uh, we're in the fairway. So this is, this is so
classic. So we're down the Fairway. I'm like, AMJ, it's
155 middle, pins back. It's a long
green, figure eight green. I'm like, it's 165 to the
back. Back pin. Um, and wins in the face. Like,
wind always howls here a little bit, like, you need to get back there. I'm like,
it's probably playing 180.
(45:23):
And he, like, he's looking in the bag. He's like, wait, what'd you say about the
wind? And I'm like, yeah, it's probably like a 15,
you know, club and a half. Wind in the face. He's like, me
and Tiger, he goes, wind doesn't affect our ball.
I'm like, I don't know if y'all have ever seen MJ M swing
or his golf game at all, but you talked about Berkshire hitting moon balls.
I mean, MJ M is super steep, and I, you know, you can
(45:43):
recognize that on the, you know, by the first swing of the day.
So he spin the. Out of the ball. So he's like, hey, man. He's
like, kyle, give me the seven. And I'm like, oh, fuck, this is going to be good.
Usually I would walk away and go to the other guys, but I'm like,
oh, this is going to be good, Mike. I'm just hoping he flushes this, right?
So he flushes it. Ball's going up, and it's just in the
air forever. I think it, like hits the front of the green,
(46:03):
like, and spins off the front by 30 yards short, right?
Like, he should have hit maybe a knock down five or four.
And I just know he likes shit talking. So
I hit him on the arm as I'm walking by. And I
said, wind doesn't affect your ball, right? And he gave me
that look, right? That divorce look, like, who's this motherfucker? Uh,
so we go
(46:24):
up, whatever, and we get to the next hole, right? And,
uh, kind of get to the greens or whatever.
And again, this is like probably Michael Jordan's Mental
Warfare. I don't know if it's one. He was trying to just
make me look like an. Because I made him look like an. Just me
and him. Um, but you know, he has like a 10 foot
putt. It's one of those putts. It's a ball out. You know, you could pit it,
(46:44):
you could hit it, right edge, firm. I'm like, mj, it's ball out. You
know, if you want to hit a little harder, hit it on the edge. He blasts
it through the break, and he's like, oh, man, Kyle can't read the greens.
So the rest of the round, when he missed a putt, he would yell out like, kyle can't
read the greens.
>> Speaker D (46:57):
Kyle can't read the greens.
>> Speaker A (46:58):
So I don't know if it was mental warfare of like one, he wanted to
embarrass me or number two, he was also like, I
got money games with all these guys and if they hear me
saying Kyle can't read the greens, they're not going to want to read from him
and they're not going to trust what he says. So that's just like total
mj. We've all seen obviously like the last dance. He uh,
loves shit talking and obviously he'll get back at you
too. So it was a fucking classic day though.
>> Jonathan (47:20):
Yeah. I mean, the guy probably definitely knows how to win the mental
battles, right?
>> Speaker A (47:24):
For sure. And it's just so funny because like, you know, 03, like Tiger
was on top of the fucking world, right? I mean, nothing did affect
Tigers golf ball in that in those years. But, but
mj, like, you're, you're the goat of
the basketball court. But like, bro, like you're about a, uh, four or
five. Like, yeah, you're spinning like the
ball, the wind will affect your ball. It was just classic, dude. It was such a, it's
(47:45):
such a cool day.
>> Jonathan (47:46):
I love it, man. We saw him, man. He was, he played behind
Pep and I when we were down at Grove. Him and Dwight
Freey and a couple other cats. That's sick in
his entourage.
>> RB (47:56):
But we're, we're at Grove
having lunch and I said, bash, I got
it. I gotta get the restroom. So I'm staying in the restroom. I'm standing
there and you just feel like, you feel like
a ghost is coming in. You just felt it.
>> Speaker A (48:10):
Isn't that crazy?
>> RB (48:11):
And he comes in, bucket hat, cigar in his
mouth. He's like, what's up, big guy?
As I'm holding my.
I look over him, I said, oh, nothing. How about you?
I'm like, that's what you
today? Like, so that's what you
said. So he went in the stall,
(48:33):
closed the door. Naturally I popped my head under the stall. I'm
like,
camera. Hey man, let's try that again.
I mean, you talk about a guy like
he doesn't even have to be that good at golf. That's the thing that people
don't understand. It's his presence and the amount of
money that he will play for. Um,
(48:55):
and, and you know, I think people
too don't recognize he's not Going to play golf for fun. Like, he's got
to play for something. I had another buddy that played with him at Grove,
and he took MJ for 200 bucks,
and he said, when we're done drinking this
tequila, we can square up. Basically, he's saying, listen,
I'm gonna drink you so hard
that you're gonna forget that I owe you money. And my buddy said, I just
(49:17):
kept drinking and sitting there, saying to myself, I'm not drunk. I'm
not drunk, and got to it. And he's like, here's your 200
bucks. After they finished a bottle of tequila sinkora.
>> Speaker A (49:26):
Oh, that's great.
>> Speaker D (49:26):
Well, let me. Let me ask you guys, what did you think of
Grove? Because right after I played with President
Trump, I actually got to play Grove,
uh, the next week. And I think it's a good spot,
and the amenities are top shelf.
>> RB (49:40):
I. I think I. I agree. Yeah. I would agree with everything.
You said that, like, the. There's
some holes that I think. Obviously, I think they're blowing it up
in March and they're redoing it, from what I've heard.
Um, but, I mean, did you look at, like,
15, 16, 17, 18. They call it
Jordan Alley for a reason, right? Like 15,
(50:01):
par, uh, 3, 150. The middle of the green,
16s. 280 to the middle of green, par, par 4.
17's a driver. 5 iron, 6 iron, par
5 and 18 is 495. Dead nuts into
the wind, par 4. So it's like, as
a gambling course, it's.
It's set up for Jordan. It is a thousand percent.
(50:21):
But as far as the amenities are concerned and everything else, dude,
15 out of 10. Like, 15 out of 10. Take the
golf carts. You literally take the golf cart in the
fringe. You. You. They go 30 miles an hour. The
pro shop, sick. The food's very good.
>> Speaker D (50:35):
The clubhouse facilities,
unbelievable.
>> Jonathan (50:39):
Oh, yeah.
>> Speaker D (50:40):
That's why we pulled up the first day.
>> RB (50:43):
All those guys. And we pull up the first day.
Uh, what kind of balls you use title?
>> Speaker A (50:49):
Yeah.
>> RB (50:49):
Well, probably one or probably one X. Probably one. All right, here's your
bag of balls. And it's just like, that touch
to an experience is incredible.
>> Jonathan (50:58):
Yeah. And I. Everything he said. I
mean, he kind of just answered the question by himself there.
So we'll let him slide on that.
>> RB (51:05):
And not to mention who you see and who's
there, which he loves.
>> Speaker A (51:09):
That's so cool.
>> Jonathan (51:09):
But I was a little under. I thought the pro
shop was really good, but this shoe thing kind of got me Thrown off.
Probably because I was thinking about it as like,
it's gonna have a wall.
>> Speaker D (51:19):
Of just like his closet type stuff.
>> Jonathan (51:22):
Yeah. And you're just gonna be able to see shoes that you can't see
anywhere else or whatever, you know. And, uh, that wasn't the
case. But I mean, yeah,
because you hear guys talk and they're like, yeah, you know, it's,
it's whatever, it's blah, blah, blah. But no, it's not
just whatever. It's. It's a phenomenal. Like if someone
invites me back because that's the only way I'm getting on
again, I mean, my answer is going to be,
(51:44):
uh, when? Yes.
>> Speaker D (51:46):
Yeah. And the vibe is not stuffy at all.
You know, like you get the amenities and
everything that you would get at another top shelf
facility, but you don't have that walking on
eggshells feel.
>> Jonathan (51:59):
How do you two handle stuffiness at clubs?
>> Speaker A (52:03):
I mean, I, I deal with every day because I have to go into
some of these clubs for, for work, obviously. Um,
I'm way more of a vibe like you guys are talking about Whisper Rock,
for example, out in Scottsdale. I mean, what a hang that place is. It's
just like so chill, untucked polos, just like,
you know, you got tour pros hitting, you're hitting next to freaking whoever. Right.
I mean, I like vibes like that personally. I deal
(52:23):
with the stuffy clubs. You just kind of have to. But, um, I
way more prefer like the modern, like these new clubs like
you guys are talking about, like Grove and Whisper Rock, places like
that personally. And
I'm sure it's always the same, I assume.
>> Speaker D (52:37):
Yeah, I, I got, I uh, got
fortunate this year to go out to Discovery
Properties a little bit where Melman,
um, owns those. And like, they've got
the one at Gazer Ranch in Idaho,
Coeur d'alene. And then there's one I went to
in the Dominican Republic called Playa Grande where
Ricky Fowler has a house. And I seriously
(52:59):
think that blew pebble beach out of the water. I
mean that place was phenomenal. I was
really surprised on the northern coast of the Dr.
Um, I had no idea that there was a place that
existed like that in the Dominican.
>> Jonathan (53:13):
I think Discovery Properties are setting the new
standard. I mean, 100.
The, the vibe that it brings, the
plushness. I mean you look at these comfort stations,
dude, you could pull a stool
up and just chill there all day.
>> Speaker D (53:29):
I literally, I literally bumped
into Kim Kardashian at the one in Gaza Ranch.
Like I turned around and her and her daughter
Northwest were right there. And I was like, you know, you never know
you're gonna meet at the Discovery Project. And they went back to
their cybertruck. They were like raiding Ramsack in
that comfort station and then taking off. You
(53:49):
know, it's just cool because I thought that you were talking
about there's so
many, uh, A listers and former,
uh, pro athletes and country musicians that are
hanging out at the quarter lane one that it really wasn't that
stuffy because everybody kind of feels like, hey, like, you've already
made it if you're out here. So there's no need to like, one up
(54:09):
anybody, you know, I, I,
um.
>> RB (54:14):
I was a troubadour about a year and a half
ago, warming up on the range with
Thomas Archer and Ray Fulcher, who are big
songwriters and, and uh, my backs to where
people are coming on is a Tuesday afternoon, 4:00, we're gonna tee
off and. And I hear this guy, yo, yo, Ray. Ray.
I'm like, that name that sounds familiar, that voice.
And here it was Wallen. And I'm like,
(54:36):
oh, shit. Like, I don't get.
I don't get shocked by anybody, but like, yes, you do
right now. So,
you know, he's talking to Ray and he's like, you want to
play a little action today? And Ray's like, pep. What do you think? I said, I'll take
it. Whatever you want. So they go off, we get to
14, and they're at the comfort station of Troubadour, him
(54:57):
and his buddies. Actually, you might know Will Sellers.
>> Speaker D (55:02):
Name sounds familiar. Okay.
>> RB (55:04):
With J.T. uh, um, they're all playing,
so we all joined up. Dude, we played till
9pm and then we drank till 1am with this dude. And he
couldn't have been any cooler and, and nicer to
everyone, which obviously when you're
in a golf club where there's nobody at, they're going to be themselves,
right? So we absolutely tied one
(55:25):
on that night. It was.
>> Speaker A (55:27):
I got. I got a buddy who's a member at Troubadour, and he said, sit.
Kind of along those lines. He said he had a club, um,
championship match against like one of the country stars. I don't know if it was,
if it was, uh, Morgan Wallen or
who, but he said he showed up, uh, you know, he's like buttoned up. He's
kind of a new member at the time he button. He's wearing his polo and tucked into his
shorts. Whatever he said. Homeboy pulls up with his,
(55:48):
like, golden retriever. He's wearing, like, his high school basketball
jersey and basketball shorts, and they go out. He's like, hey, let's have a match. I'm like,
holy. That's, like, what a vibe that is, right? Like,
just. Just do whatever you want. Have your dog running around.
>> RB (55:59):
I mean, Wallen had this speaker that was as big as
a golf cart. It was in the back, and this music was
so loud, I don't even know how he sat in the cart. And it was
just rap the whole way around blaring. And
like you said, it's just, do what you want, right? Just respect the golf course
and do.
>> Speaker A (56:14):
What you want, right?
>> Speaker D (56:15):
There was actually a guy in the Dominican whose job
is director of Vibes. Super cool
guy. And he had the same setup you were
describing, uh, Morgan Wallen having with the speaker in
the car, and he had, like, the Dominican flags hanging out the back. And
so, like, if he knew. Knew, uh, we all were coming out there and we
were big country fans, he would have, like, country
(56:35):
music blaring from three fairways away.
Like, they just do that little attention to detail,
uh, really well, and make, uh, sure that everyone out
there feels like, you know, they're being tailored
to.
>> Jonathan (56:48):
Yeah, it's smart. It's
definitely a vibe, man. And, yeah,
that's. That's my feeling, too. I mean, I can't
deal with the stuffiness because I don't like the egotisticalness
that comes with it. You know what I mean? I'm,
um. Yeah, I just want to play golf. At
the end of the day, I'll play golf. I want to have a good time. You know, I
definitely respect the course, certainly like playing
(57:09):
nice courses, but, uh, really, I don't really have.
I don't care. You know, a lot of these
clubs.
>> Speaker D (57:16):
They'Re, like, one rule that they'll have is don't be
an. Right? Like, as long as you're not an. You're
not gonna get kicked out. Like, that's the only rule. Just respect the
course, Be. Be chill, and
you'll. You'll fit in fine. That's how it is at Old
Mo in Tampa.
>> RB (57:32):
I love Old Mo.
>> Jonathan (57:33):
It's a great course, great
track.
What about a Midwest cow? Where. Where you. What do you
oversee?
>> Speaker A (57:40):
So I oversee, uh, just kind of across Missouri, Illinois.
Nothing. Nothing too crazy here. I've got some top
100 courses, but nothing like, y'all have kind of out.
Out north, you know, in the north, uh, east and down south
and. And all that, but no there's some good tracks here, for sure.
It's just, uh. It's so. It's so humid and hot here that
you just can't get golf courses maybe the way they should be.
(58:01):
Like, I know. You know, with peering. Some of those guys. We always talk
about golf up in Pittsburgh. I think that's like, the perfect climate.
Like Michigan when I live there. Some of the best golf courses ever, because you
could always get those courses. They were always pure with bent grass.
You could always get greens rolling quick. Little different here
across the Midwest because we get so hot and humid that it's like
there's a month window where they can kind of like, really
(58:21):
get them down and fast. Um, but. But,
uh, no, it's. It's. I'm in a good spot for sure. It's just,
uh. I don't have all the. Some of the clout clubs, uh,
that y'all are talking about.
>> Jonathan (58:31):
Really. I got a buddy up at Rich Harvest Farms. How's that
place?
>> Speaker A (58:35):
So I've not been up there yet.
>> Jonathan (58:37):
I hear not, but freaking awesome from multiple people.
>> Speaker A (58:40):
Yeah, there's some. I mean, there's some great golf across that. Like
that north part of the Midwest. I mean, you can. Wisconsin,
even, like, over into Nebraska, Minnesota. There's just. It's just.
It's plush up there, man.
>> Jonathan (58:50):
We had Danny Woodhead on the podcast a while back,
and he's out in Nebraska, like, in the m. Middle of
nowhere.
>> RB (58:56):
Yeah, but when I start, Nebraska's in the middle. Nowhere.
>> Jonathan (58:59):
It is, but when you start peeling back the layers a little bit, you realize that,
like, there's some deep. Like, what is it? Is
it Bismol or,
um, Bismarck?
No, it's. It's something like that where you gotta take a helicopter
to get to it. I don't
know.
>> RB (59:15):
Sandhills up there, isn't it?
>> Jonathan (59:17):
Yeah.
Um. I forget the name of it. I want to say
Dismal or Bismore, something like
that. Well, it doesn't matter, obviously, because no one knows of it,
but I actually.
>> Speaker D (59:30):
Played a golf course this summer in
Iowa called the Harvester. And
if, um, Butler national and
Oakmont had a baby, that would be this golf
course. It's the love child of the two. It was
incredible.
>> RB (59:44):
Butler National. So hard.
>> Speaker A (59:47):
Yeah, it's very hard. So.
Wish they had a better logo, but that. That golf course is
amazing.
>> Speaker D (59:53):
Yeah.
>> Jonathan (59:55):
One thing to pivot off of this golf talk real quick is
the fact that, um, coming
into this football playoff season with
college, it's. It's shaping to be a pretty
Exciting, you, uh, know, weekend. I mean, you got some games
going off, you got, got this new structure in place. I think
it's great for the game.
>> Speaker A (01:00:15):
It's crazy. It's crazy too, that, uh, I mean, we've gone
so long seeing, you know, teams going undefeated
or you can only have one loss this year. I don't know if it's like
the, the parody just because of like the transfer portal and
stuff, but it's crazy to see, you know, Alabama, Georgia, these guys
losing two, three games. It's just, it's so out of the norm.
Uh, but it's fun because I feel like it needs to be more like that. Right. It's always
(01:00:35):
been the same three, four teams every year, and they're always arguing
who's going to get in and all that kind of stuff. So. So I'm excited for,
for this little playoff. I think it's gonna be fun.
>> Jonathan (01:00:43):
Yeah.
>> Speaker D (01:00:43):
Yeah. Unlike the PGA Tour, it seems like they're trying to
grow the game of football for college. So that's pretty cool.
>> Jonathan (01:00:49):
Yeah.
>> RB (01:00:49):
There's no gambling, though.
>> Speaker A (01:00:53):
Sure about that?
>> Jonathan (01:00:56):
What, what would football be without gambling? I
mean, really?
>> RB (01:01:00):
I just don't like how, uh, uh, every pregame show is
brought to you by bet us or DraftKings. Uh,
yet if you gamble on your team,
you're splendid.
>> Jonathan (01:01:12):
I get a kick out of the guys that are giving
your their pick of the day before the game goes off. You know,
like these analysts.
>> Speaker D (01:01:18):
Right.
>> Jonathan (01:01:19):
My pickup today is, is this guy over
75 and a half yards. And here's why.
I would love to see what their percentage is on hitting that
shit and versus not.
>> Speaker A (01:01:29):
Because that's always what's so funny about like, the sports
media that like, you know, you can make, you can be
Colin Cowherd or whoever and make these loud
statements about, oh, uh, this, that, uh, and the other and just be so loud.
>> Speaker D (01:01:40):
Annoying.
>> Speaker A (01:01:40):
But those guys are, they're never held accountable, right? You can say
whatever you want.
>> Jonathan (01:01:44):
Yeah.
>> Speaker A (01:01:44):
You can be as loud as you want. You. You don't know if the Chiefs are going
to win at all this year, but you can just go out and say all that. And it's just
kind of funny because they're never, ever held accountable for what they say.
Right? Like, they never go back and say, you were wrong
about this or that. You know, it's so funny.
>> Jonathan (01:01:58):
I was sweating for the guy.
>> RB (01:02:00):
My wife she lets me know, but.
>> Jonathan (01:02:03):
I was sweating for the cat that dumped 3 million on the
Eagles when they played, uh, Carolina.
>> Speaker D (01:02:09):
Did he win that dude, he should.
>> Speaker A (01:02:11):
Have lost that guy. That. That Leggette kid dropped a wide
open touchdown with, like, 10 seconds to go. He literally had no
one around him and just dropped it. It's almost like, was that fixed?
You always wonder. Sometimes I'm like, is this fixed? Like, I know these
referees. Sometimes it feels like the wwf, where you're just like,
you can't make this shit up, right? And I get it. It's like great
tv, right? When the Chiefs are winning every game by a
(01:02:31):
phantom call or doinking. Winning off the upright,
sometimes you're just like, how the hell does this happen?
>> Jonathan (01:02:37):
I know, I know. It's. It's crazy,
but insane. That's what the. That's the world we live in,
and that's what it is. Especially if you have vested interests. You
got to live and die by the cause, the. And whatnot.
But. Right.
>> Speaker A (01:02:50):
Are, ah, we gonna ever land this plane on the PGA Tour stuff? Sully, do you
have any intel on this? I mean, I got. I got a buddy who works down at the Tour, and
I'm just like. I always ask him, like, are they gonna, like, land this plane with
the live stuff with the going on? Like, it's just
like.
>> Jonathan (01:03:02):
I don't know.
>> Speaker A (01:03:02):
It just seems so. Just still just in. In just
like random flux, you know.
>> Speaker D (01:03:06):
Just in constant litigation and not, uh, being
able to. I think. I think the thing with that
is Gary, uh, player,
uh, was talking about it and that, uh, in his opinion, that
PGA Tour dropped the ball early on by pushing back
so hard because if they had a play ball with
them a little bit, it would have made things way
(01:03:27):
smoother, right? So now you gotta. You got
a entity like the Live, the Saudis, Piff
or whatever it is that have way more money,
and in the end, they're probably gonna win.
You know, it's like the bigger fish is
gonna survive that financial, um,
battle. So who knows? But,
(01:03:47):
um. And I think the big thing here
is the spectators want to see the best
players play against each other on the same stage. And it's
unfortunate that Scottie, uh, Scheffler
and, you know, the Jon Rams are not squaring up
while they're both in their prime. And it
just hurts the. You know, it seems like the
overall mood right now from a
(01:04:10):
viewership standpoint is it's not as exciting
as it has been in the past. And that's un.
Unfortunate.
>> Jonathan (01:04:16):
Yeah.
>> RB (01:04:16):
Yeah, for sure. So
maybe next time we get on here, we'll have a little answer to that.
>> Speaker D (01:04:22):
Yeah, maybe if you see Me next time with a
turban on and Titleist logo on the side.
That tells you everything you need to know.
>> RB (01:04:37):
I love it.
>> Jonathan (01:04:39):
Well, boys, it was a blast, man. Um,
I know we're kind of close here on the time, but,
uh, you know, glad we were able to rekindle our
relationship. Our long lost relationship.
>> Speaker A (01:04:49):
Long and lost. Yep.
>> Jonathan (01:04:50):
You know, kind of just yuck it up here a little bit. It was fun.
>> RB (01:04:53):
I love it.
>> Speaker D (01:04:54):
Absolutely.
>> RB (01:04:55):
We gotta do it again.
>> Speaker D (01:04:56):
Yeah, left off for sure.
>> Speaker A (01:04:58):
And I hope to see you boys out in Oregon. I'll see Sully before that, but I hope to see you
boys out in Oregon. Maybe. I mean, I might have. Might or might have not have gotten
an invite. I know Bash didn't know this, but I may or
may not have gotten.
>> RB (01:05:08):
This is. Now I know it's
gonna be like. This is awkward.
>> Jonathan (01:05:12):
Well, I was supposed to have lunch with Steve, actually, you know, he
said it, and then he. He canceled.
But that's to be expected in some case. I
understand he's a busy guy, so that's not a knock, but, you
know, the chance of that happening was probably.
>> RB (01:05:25):
Under shirts with
tunas and. And a clown. A clown riding a
tuna on a shirt.
>> Jonathan (01:05:33):
But we'll have that discussion.
>> Speaker D (01:05:35):
Do you guys make it to the PC PGA show, uh, at
all or down in Orlando? Not really.
>> Speaker A (01:05:42):
I'll see you down there, silly.
>> Speaker D (01:05:43):
Yeah, yeah, I know Kyle does. That's. That's. Maybe we can shut down.
>> Speaker A (01:05:46):
I can shut down that little, uh. That little dance place we went to
last year like we did.
>> Speaker D (01:05:52):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Establishment.
>> Speaker A (01:05:55):
Oh, it was.
>> RB (01:05:57):
All right, boys. Well, with further ado,
we'll. We'll catch you on the flip side.
>> Speaker A (01:06:02):
All right, uh, boys, good to see you guys.
>> Speaker D (01:06:03):
Thanks for having us. Yeah, always.
>> Jonathan (01:06:04):
Good.
>> RB (01:06:09):
Boys. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for coming on,
telling some stories. I love the Donald Trump story
because DJT saw him
hitting some balls on the range and said, that's my guy. And he
ratted off seven birdies and, like, 11
holes.
>> Jonathan (01:06:24):
A little nervy there, but, yeah, he was.
>> RB (01:06:26):
Man, to lose that scorecard.
>> Jonathan (01:06:28):
I know that's, like, the most.
>> RB (01:06:30):
We're gonna post that so that everybody can see it because he only has a photo
of it. But to lose that scorecard. And the
best part of that story is it was a year and
a half ago, and he put 45 and 47.
He knew.
>> Jonathan (01:06:42):
Yeah, it's wild,
but, yeah, that. That's, you know, kind of
getting back to what you said there in the beginning, you know, you listen
to somebody who actually has the game and the capabilities to take it
to that level, man. And, uh, it just shows you how tough
it is. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the
game, people. So as amateur golfers, we need to
(01:07:02):
embrace it and. And keep chasing. That's all. That's what we're
doing. Yeah. Every day. Chase every day.
>> RB (01:07:08):
And I'll tell you, what I've been chasing, um, bud,
is the steak
pizziola that you've put me on.
>> Jonathan (01:07:16):
Oh, God.
>> RB (01:07:16):
Up at Neme. So make sure you go on to
nemecullon.com. check it out. The new restaurant,
Gusto, uh, which we had our little
friend dinner.
>> Jonathan (01:07:25):
We did?
>> RB (01:07:26):
Um.
>> Jonathan (01:07:27):
Yeah.
>> RB (01:07:28):
Wow, Man. I ate there two nights and three out
of three, so, um, it's amazing. So they're doing a
great job. The food's amazing, man.
Uh, the lights. It makes you feel like you're a kid
again. Uh, the Hardee's Village,
where Santa's cruising around a little
bit. Um, so make sure you go to
(01:07:48):
nemecolin.com, check them out, book your reservation,
tell them the boy sent you. Uh, they might give you
a free bubble bath or something.
>> Jonathan (01:07:56):
Um, a free
pillow. Yeah, dude, I agree with you. It's.
It's phenomenal. So it was good. It was good to hang
out.
>> RB (01:08:05):
Simulators. Yeah.
>> Jonathan (01:08:08):
How'd that go?
>> RB (01:08:10):
Um, probably out of the first eight wedge shots
I hit, three of them were hosel rockets right up Lee Jansen's
ass. Um,
but you know what? I'm
excited. I'm excited.
>> Jonathan (01:08:23):
I'll tell you what I'm excited about. These college football playoffs
that are about to kick off, boys.
>> RB (01:08:27):
And, I mean, I hear this week might be.
>> Speaker D (01:08:30):
Well, there's town for one.
>> Jonathan (01:08:32):
Yeah, there's. There's a good possibility there that I'm, you know,
know, gonna be able to go catch that night. Uh, game Saturday
night. Uh, Ohio State. At Ohio
State, uh, against Tennessee. Our
boys. You're the boys. So, you know,
I'm kind of torn in between who I'm gonna actually cheer for
in this capacity. But, um, at the end of the day, I'll
probably have some sliver of red on,
(01:08:55):
but that doesn't mean, you know, I'm an underdog better.
I like betting underdogs. Tennessee's an eight and a half point underdog
at this juncture, at this point. Yeah. So we'll see what
happens. But, uh, shaping up to be a
nice. It's gonna be.
>> RB (01:09:08):
It's gonna be insane late December
in Columbus, Ohio. Is it the first playoff game of
the whole playoffs?
>> Jonathan (01:09:15):
No, because they start at noon on Saturday.
2 12, 3 and 8. But it's the first nightcap
game of the playoffs.
>> RB (01:09:23):
It's gonna be, that's gonna be. It's Columbus so high
is be Rocket boys.
>> Jonathan (01:09:27):
Yeah, yeah, it's going to be, it's going to be, it's going to be good.
>> RB (01:09:29):
So what's your take on the um, the old Pittsburgh Steelers
this past weekend against the Eagles?
>> Jonathan (01:09:34):
Not kind of what, ah, expected. What would anyone
expect that to be? I mean you think they're going to go in there and actually
surprise the world and win? I mean they had opportunity to
keep it close there. I mean especially before that fumble.
But no, I mean you have two possessions
the second half, your defense can't get off the field.
Dude.
>> RB (01:09:52):
How about in the fourth quarter? 11 minute drive they had at the
end.
>> Jonathan (01:09:55):
Tough game. There's no doubt about it. Philadelphia's
loaded. But you know, I certainly
uh, thought that there might have been a
closer game, but. And then this weekend they got
the, the Ravens on
Netflix. Not on Netflix, on Fox.
>> Speaker D (01:10:11):
Sorry.
>> Jonathan (01:10:11):
Christmas. Christmas is on Netflix. But
yeah, it's gonna be uh, it's gonna be interesting, man.
So we'll see what happens.
>> RB (01:10:19):
Well, with uh, that, you know,
I'm excited for the playoffs, the NFL playoffs. The
Steelers, um, they're
in. So that's the bright side.
And Tomlins got another winning season.
So with 2025
on the heels here. But
(01:10:40):
what are you looking Forward to? To
2025 or what's a goal of yours
that you're chasing?
>> Jonathan (01:10:48):
Uh, I don't know. People ask me that recently, what do you want for
Christmas? All this. Jaz. And I just say simple one word answer.
Peace. That's it. I don't care what capacity that
comes. I just want more peace. You
know, I was reading and it's
crazy that I read this because I felt
this, I've felt this for years.
That in the morning, early hours,
(01:11:10):
say between 4 and 6:30, when that stillness
exists and if you're able to be conscious at those
hours, m. Your thought process
is so deep and clear.
Okay. And I've had that experience
multiple, multiple times. I used to do it on a regular.
Got away from it a little bit, I'll be honest.
>> RB (01:11:30):
Mhm.
>> Jonathan (01:11:30):
But that. Whether it's an hour or
45 minutes or whatever, but that hour
in the morning, if you can channel that energy
that establishes such a more prolific
and, and, and uh, peace filled
day, because your thoughts are so much more Intense.
I need to get back to that. Okay. And. And
(01:11:51):
incense, right?
>> RB (01:11:51):
Uh, well, yeah, just burning those a little bit.
>> Jonathan (01:11:54):
I got it burning. I had a burning this weekend. That. Definitely.
But the point is maybe that. And then maybe that'll carry
over to golf.
I don't know. Not that I care if it does or doesn't,
because ultimately, you know, golf's for fun, but
peace. That's what I'm chasing.
>> RB (01:12:08):
What about 2025? Peace.
>> Jonathan (01:12:10):
Uhhuh. Yeah, I know that was deep, but.
>> RB (01:12:13):
That'S an answer expected from you.
With. Without further ado, um, everyone,
you know, thank you again for another wonderful
year. 2024
was fun. It was filled with a lot of
drama.
>> Jonathan (01:12:29):
It was.
>> RB (01:12:30):
Um. But with that being said,
I'm ready to turn the page of 2025. You
all have yourselves a merry little Christmas with your family.
Enjoy, um, the holidays.
Um, tell somebody you love them at the
holidays, okay? Because it's not. It's
something, you know, whatever. Life's short, so. So
(01:12:51):
tell them you love them. And, uh, have
a happy, happy New Year, too.
>> Jonathan (01:12:56):
Yeah.
>> RB (01:12:57):
Uh, and healthy New Year. And stay outside the wall
field. And be careful when using Q tips and be
careful when cutting a cigar. Um, but with
that being said, keep chasing. And
make sure you go over to chasing underscore birdies
on Instagram. Like, love. Tap it.
We appreciate all the support. Support. Yeah. Little
(01:13:17):
support.
>> Jonathan (01:13:18):
No, absolutely, guys. We appreciate all the love. Support.
This year was a fun year,
even though I was without my partner for a majority of
it. But, uh, as always, you guys have
a blessed weekend, Merry Christmas,
and have a wonderful happy new Year. Safe
and sound. And we look forward to seeing y'all in
(01:13:38):
2025. And naturally, got to give a big shout
out over to Rachel London, Jacqueline de Paterio for helping us
out here, and Evo Ally Emily for putting
this thing together. You guys have a great weekend, Merry
Christmas, and we will catch y'all in two.
