>> Jonathan (00:02):
M
thank y'all for tuning into this week's episode of
Chasing Birdies. And it is just us today,
my man. And you know what? I'm kind of here for it.
>> RB (00:15):
I am here for it for sure. I'm excited.
we tried this a few weeks ago, as we've mentioned,
when I was in Nashville wasn't the best look.
So we just put that. And, here we are
today.
>> Jonathan (00:28):
And here we are, bud. And it feels good to be back with
you, buddy. And you got, you got a little bit of. Here we
go. sniffles.
>> RB (00:35):
We got a little bit of a sniffle. I feel like it's the, it's the weather
changing, man. We go from 85 to 62,
and when it gets real chillier out, you know what that
means? You know what I mean?
>> Jonathan (00:46):
What's that mean, bud?
>> RB (00:47):
That means our red valley hoodies come out, which
I love, rocking the red valley in the
fall, the summer, the winter, any
season. Make sure you go over to redvanley.com,
check them out. As I've mentioned before, all their
fall winter gear is out and looking
fresh. So we are excited to get our
(01:08):
hands on some of that, I gotta tell you. Go ahead,
bud.
>> Jonathan (01:11):
The corduroy pull on pant
out of this world. Ridiculous.
>> RB (01:17):
You have them?
>> Jonathan (01:18):
Yeah. Two pair, bud. Yeah.
Nice. Now, I always do my
little special touch with pants anyways because I'm a little
shorter. So when they say 30 inch inseam,
it doesn't necessarily apply to me. So I got to take them to the
tailor a little bit is what I'm trying to say. But the
feel, the look, comfortability,
that's the thing about those pants and everything about it. You just got
(01:40):
to pull them on. And sometimes you forget, you know, you're looking
for a little zipper. Yeah, there's no zipper there.
>> RB (01:46):
Who are we just with it? I think it was somebody.
It might have been t. Reeve. That's what he was talking about.
He forgot that. He forgets that there's, there's just pull on. Pull
off.
>> Jonathan (01:55):
Yeah, just pull on.
>> RB (01:56):
It's like a diaper, bud. You can't screw it up, huh?
>> Jonathan (01:58):
Yeah.
>> RB (01:59):
So again, redvamily.com.
go check them out. Order yourself some stuff, and
hopefully we, get you a code of
some sort here in the future.
So, bud, let's talk about, we'll
talk about golf. But the last Saturday
of college football,
I know for a fact I took ten games and I won eight
(02:22):
of the ten.
>> Jonathan (02:23):
Yeah, it was, it was a good, it was a good weekend on Saturday.
Last Saturday, that is, not only for
your home team, the Pitt Panthers, and they
just cracked into the top 25 this week, 22nd.
>> RB (02:34):
Yes, sir.
>> Jonathan (02:35):
Congrats for you guys. But the mountaineers
got one done down there in Oklahoma,
actually, in an impressive fashion, if I'm being honest,
because frankly, I didn't know
that line was like, kind of teetering between
three two and a half points, you know, with Oklahoma State
favored. And naturally, we
(02:55):
always kind of have a tough, tough deal down there in Oklahoma City,
but, I'm sorry.
>> RB (02:59):
Still water.
>> Jonathan (03:00):
Still water. Yeah, I'm thinking Oklahoma State,
Oklahoma City, but in Stillwater. So the
Mountaineers got the dub, but you and I kind of went on this little, like,
we kind of saw the light a little bit.
>> RB (03:10):
Yes.
Sunday was not good, which. We'll get into that. But dude,
I was. I played in the 27 hole event at Shannon Penn, and
I, and I said to somebody, I said, I think today you
load up on Vandy. Not saying that
Vanderbilt would win, I just felt like there was so much
emotion from Alabama from the week before that they would
(03:30):
throw a little bit of a dud, not cover. I didn't
expect them to lose that game. And we were
a few days late. Did you see what they
did with those goal posts?
>> Jonathan (03:40):
I did.
>> RB (03:41):
They walked down Broadway and dumped
those things in the river down by the Nissan stadium.
>> Jonathan (03:46):
And I also saw that the SEC find Vanderbilt for.
For that.
>> RB (03:50):
But, yeah, I mean, you just beat the number
one school, in the country. You're
fine?
>> Jonathan (03:56):
No, I didn't see that happening. I mean, certainly
anything can happen on any given day, but no, if you would
ask me on Saturday if I thought Vanderbilt
could beat or even stay within the spread of Alabama,
I probably would have said no.
but again, all things, anything.
>> RB (04:15):
Did you see the video of Nick Saban saying, everywhere is hard to
play except Vanderbilt? He did it on the Pat McAfee show
and they kept repeating it after on the Jumbotron
and Vandy, after they beat Alabama.
>> Jonathan (04:26):
Oh, no.
>> RB (04:27):
Everywhere is hard to play except for Vanderbilt.
>> Jonathan (04:30):
Yeah, that was, That was a big. That was kind of a big deal.
>> RB (04:33):
Yeah. You think? there were some other
good. I mean, I think, what, five or six of
the top ten lost, there was a lot
of upsets and, we were on the right side. A lot
of those upsets. And it felt good,
to wake up Sunday morning, have a little green in that account.
>> Jonathan (04:50):
Well, when I was in Tennessee with you, which we'll get into this
little Tennessee trip, because we got a lot to talk about with that.
but I kind of thought the same thing that Monday
night. I was like, man, the Titans are playing. I'm going to take Titans. I'm in
Tennessee. No big deal, right? So kind of the same thing.
Tennessee playing Arkansas. I wasn't in
Tennessee, so I thought, you know what? I'm going to go against
(05:11):
Tennessee this evening. Plus, that point
spread was 14 points. Arkansas being a big underdog,
and Arkansas has been playing decent football in
honor of Matt still. Shout out, Matt still.
So we rolled the dice on the razorbacks,
but. And that paid off good.
>> RB (05:28):
Yeah, but there are some
picks that we took that I'm kind of like, yeah. Ah.
And they panned out.
>> Jonathan (05:34):
But the little Minnesota Gophers.
>> RB (05:37):
Yeah.
>> Jonathan (05:37):
Against USC, I mean, and naturally, boise
state waxen Utah state. Oh, boys
covering that big Marshall.
>> RB (05:45):
The herd got it done. Do you see Zach Bryan was there
down in Huntington, West Virginia, for the Marshall game.
>> Jonathan (05:50):
Yeah.
>> RB (05:51):
So, there was a lot of good things
coming, from Saturday. And then we rolled into Sunday.
I felt like I was going to kind of tiptoe a little bit on NFL
Sunday. I took a four game parlay with
you lost. And then, the Pittsburgh
Steelers took, minus two and a
half lost.
>> Jonathan (06:10):
So, well, there's two teams that are for real for,
well, three, actually, in my opinion, that are absolutely for
real right now. And that's the Washington
commanders, Baltimore Ravens and
the Minnesota Vikings. And
we, as, Steeler fans early in the season, we were on the hype
chain a little bit, bud. You know, we start off the season
30, and next thing you know, we dropped
(06:32):
a three and two, and it's like we're back to square one again with these
boys. And I waited all day
on Sunday. This past Sunday, I was stoked for
this Sunday night game against Dallas. You know, I'm kind of
like, I got the whole day, you know, we could do whatever. We went to
the grocery store, went to church. I went and hit some golf
balls, and I'm just sitting around waiting for the
scale. Then this weather delay happens, and naturally I'm like,
(06:55):
God, I can't stay up past halftime. Now the
game's not kicking off till halftime, so what am I going to do? Well,
what did I do? I stayed up, I watched
it, and it was disappointing. You know,
Dallas was able to run the ball pretty good on, on the
Steelers. And naturally, I mean, Justin Fields still had two
td's, but that offense is still stalling
out, man.
>> RB (07:15):
So, so the, the big question
is you being a big Steelers fan? I'm not. I wouldn't say
I'm a big Steelers fan. I'm not a big NFL fan.
>> Jonathan (07:23):
Well, I'm not a big. Like, I'm not wearing the badge everywhere I go, but,
like, I'm traveling on.
>> RB (07:27):
The southwest airline jersey, but, I
don't do.
>> Jonathan (07:32):
I don't go to the games.
>> RB (07:34):
Is Russell Wilson your quarterback? Now that they're
saying he's gonna be.
>> Jonathan (07:37):
Healthy, I mean, I think at this juncture, it's
worth a shot. I mean, you got to try
to see if somebody can get in there and put some points up. I mean, look what Baltimore
and Cincinnati.
>> RB (07:47):
Why are they not getting. And maybe it's too much coverage,
but Pickens, I understand he's a freak dude, but they
can't. They can't get him the ball,
so.
>> Jonathan (07:56):
Well, they can't get in the ball. But he's also,
obviously, he's a past week. What he
did at the end of the game did not look good on his
part. And, I don't know. He is. He is a freak
athlete and obviously the best receiver we have. But
that's. That's a good question. Why can't they feed him the ball? I
mean, so.
>> RB (08:14):
Okay, I don't know.
>> Jonathan (08:15):
And we had two running backs playing, but, like, these guys. This one
guy came off. He went to Harvard. Like, I had to
listen to that three times. I was thinking Harvard on the mon,
cal u. But in reality, it's actually Harvard.
>> RB (08:27):
Yeah.
>> Jonathan (08:28):
And this cat's in the NFL, so that's kind of cool right there.
>> RB (08:30):
But, tidbit that you. You've paid attention. Glad you paid
attention to the game. Let's rewind it
to, two Sundays ago,
WVU golf
tournament.
>> Jonathan (08:42):
Yeah.
>> RB (08:42):
At Nemicolon. We sat on 17. We
yucked it up with some of the teams. You know, some people
were receptive to us. Some people just ignored us.
That's fine. That's what we expected. But it was
good. It was fun. WVU is putting on a nice
show up there for their event, and my ears
are still ringing.
>> Jonathan (09:00):
Bud Kovich, shout out. Shawn Kovich. Man,
what a phenomenal job he's done with the West Virginia golf
program in the big twelve. And, the boys are ready to
go. we got the invite to go up to Nemacolin
to kind of cheer them on in the practice round. We
posted up on 17 to par three. And, to
our surprise, Kovich had a dj set up as well.
(09:21):
Now, I initially thought this dj was
going to be like, I don't know, looking,
like a dj, right? No,
I mean, this guy, great dj, maybe,
but if he played apple bottom, jeans, boots with the fur
one more time, you were going to lose your mind, bud.
And my ears. Guys, you got to
(09:42):
listen to this. This guy, great guy, nice
guy, whatever. But honest to God, he did
not look like your typical dj at all. I
mean, I, was surprised a little bit there.
Right? But. But the second thing, too, was that
the speakers were set up in a way that they were
just blasting on the tee box. I mean,
(10:02):
it's one thing to have music playing when you're ready to go. And granted, I
know this was a practice round, but, dude,
we had to sit behind the freaking tee box at
times.
>> RB (10:12):
So loud.
>> Jonathan (10:12):
I mean, the whole course on
14, green 15, t box
coming down 16, obviously 17, and
probably teeing off on 18.
>> RB (10:23):
No, the music, they said at 18, they could hear
where the carts are.
>> Jonathan (10:28):
I guarantee it. It was so freaking loud.
>> RB (10:31):
Yeah.
>> Jonathan (10:32):
Like, we should have had ear protection. That's my only
complaint, probably that it's a complaint.
>> RB (10:36):
But.
>> Jonathan (10:37):
But we talked to a lot of the guys, man. A lot of the kids came
through there.
>> RB (10:41):
Coaches saw coach I haven't seen in years,
Mike Larkin. So that's good seeing him m down at all.
shocker.
>> Jonathan (10:47):
Someone you know.
>> RB (10:49):
All right.
>> Jonathan (10:49):
Oh, you played against.
>> RB (10:51):
Played against them. but congrats, WVU. They
brought home the victory team and individual,
so congratulations to them. Big win. Nice
win. It was a good field. and I think that field, once
people start hearing about what they're doing up there now, a
colon and NW and all that, I think that
field will only get stronger.
>> Jonathan (11:10):
Well, I said, who's the best team in the field besides west Virginia?
And the answer was Penn State. Right. Well,
you and I took note to that, because during the practice round, Penn
State didn't even practice. They didn't even play in the practice round. But where
was Penn State? They weren't.
And that's. Yeah, they didn't. They didn't win.
>> RB (11:27):
Robert Morris showed up like Bobby Mo, 30, 30 minutes
late.
>> Jonathan (11:30):
The. We had the boys from George
Washington. I mean, these cats,
they loved the music they played, studio love,
blasted it, taking videos. And
naturally, the central Michigan head coach, he
was a freaking nice guy, man.
He said, if I had it my way, we'd be flying on PJ's.
>> RB (11:51):
I said, well, you said, funny enough. I
said, I got one year left of
eligibility, and I can make that happen for
you.
>> Jonathan (11:59):
Yeah. No, I did not say that. But I.
But you know, that's a tough program if you
think about a central Michigan. You know, he didn't
want to be.
>> RB (12:08):
Attached to Antonio Brown. Do you see that? Remember, remember him saying
like, oh, easy, easy, easy.
They don't. They must not like that up there.
>> Jonathan (12:16):
I'm sure he doesn't.
>> RB (12:17):
So anyways, from there,
we're on.
>> Jonathan (12:22):
What did, the medalist shoot? 200,
400? He was under par for both
days.
>> RB (12:28):
So then we moseyed on the airport, had some permanent
sandwich, got out of there late. it was a little delay. And
then we got to Nashville. I stayed in a shitty hotel.
you stayed in a posh hotel. And,
then we moseyed on up to.
>> Jonathan (12:43):
I don't understand why you booked at that hotel, old
hickory.
>> RB (12:46):
Because.
>> Jonathan (12:47):
I still don't know.
>> RB (12:48):
Because it was within the rebates, Buddha.
And we showed up to old hickory on Monday at
09:30 a.m. John Daley sitting there
with a cooler and three packs of cigarettes.
And when we left 730, he was in the same position.
>> Jonathan (13:05):
Did not leave.
>> RB (13:06):
Did not leave. And there was a point.
We. A couple of boys were playing,
music and daily
Facetimed what we thought was a, friend,
right. We just thought he was just like FaceTime and a buddy to show him
that these guys are playing some music.
No, in fact he facetimed Donald
(13:28):
J. Trump.
>> Jonathan (13:30):
True.
>> RB (13:31):
And, was showing
him to all the singers singing and. And
then he turned the phone around, showed all us
and all that. So that was kind of cool.
Dude. See that? He's got him on. On speed
dial. Essentially.
>> Jonathan (13:47):
Yeah. So shout out blue otter. Man, you guys are
awesome. Blue otter polarized. Check him out online. We got
invited through Jesse and Ray Fulcher to go down and play
in the golf event which apparently this is the
fifth year. So, we naturally accepted
and we went down and it was a blast. Little scramble at Old
Hickory. Old hickory was in mint condition despite
(14:08):
all the rain that has happened over there in Tennessee due
to the hurricane. But
you're right, bud. I just wanted to kind of set the stage a little bit. For
what? What the hell we're talking about because you went right into this.
We walk in and there he is, JD sitting
there, 930 in the morning with a cooler
and I don't know what he was drinking. Spiked
(14:28):
lemonade, spiked iced teeds, beers,
whatever it was. Having some heaters. 930
on a Monday? This isn't even a Saturday. This is a
Monday. And he wasn't even playing in the
event. But
we did play in the event, and we played pretty
well. Now, you know, a scramble. You
got to make birdie on every freaking hole, which we didn't do.
>> RB (14:50):
So, I mean, Jesse and Ray's team made a two on a par
five from the woods.
>> Jonathan (14:55):
Yeah, that's true. Five.
Yeah.
>> RB (14:58):
Last shot, they, they didn't have a shot on the green.
Fourth guy goes to hit a couple
two hopper right in.
>> Jonathan (15:06):
So there's a couple things about this round with you
that kind of had me chuckling a little bit.
One of them being the fact that you had to work the whole time, which
is great because you're always about people just
putting their phone down playing golf.
>> RB (15:19):
There was a little bit of an issue going on, bud.
>> Jonathan (15:21):
And Pep's nowhere to be found. In fact, on the par
five, he hits his putt
for eagle and walks off. No big deal. And
doctor Phil goes. And,
our other guy goes in a group, and then I'm last. A
bat, and I drained the eagle
25ft. Didn't even know my man's in the
cart with his head down. I said, bud, I just made that putt. He said, oh, did
(15:43):
you?
>> RB (15:44):
Like, it was like there was an issue going on. All right, all right.
>> Jonathan (15:46):
That's fine.
>> RB (15:47):
Okay.
>> Jonathan (15:48):
The second thing was, we roll up onto one par four, and this
guy's standing there, which there's a, there's a, another
story to this, but Greg,
who has a duck, hunting
outfitter company, whatever it is,
which he's coming on a podcast, so we'll get into that.
That'll be the next episode spoiler.
(16:09):
But Greg's standing there and saying, all right, guys, I'm a long
driver. If you out drive me, you get a polo. And
Pep takes it literally for what he says and goes, oh, do you know
Justin Moose? And the guy's like, well.
>> RB (16:20):
Cause, I mean, first off, you didn't have.
He's.
>> Jonathan (16:24):
He's a long driver. He's like 480.
>> RB (16:27):
This guy's massive, though. So it was, it
bashes him. That's what it was. It was something you would
ask.
>> Jonathan (16:33):
Yeah. Right at that moment in time, I realized that this guy
wasn't a long driver. He's just doing this for fun.
So he goes first, and he hits
it, 220 up the left side of the fairway.
So I go, well, hey, you, know, it looks like we're getting
a couple freebies here. but, no, that was funny. And,
yeah, we did. We. He looked us up with some, some
(16:55):
polos, and that was a fun spot. Now,
these events, especially for someone
that does not partake in drinking regularly on
the golf course, you kind of have to in these things, because
every hole, it feels like every
hole, there's alcohol. Yeah,
whatever you want.
>> RB (17:13):
Yeah, that's called having fun.
>> Jonathan (17:16):
Well, I had fun. I had a couple with you, Bud. Yeah,
you did. A couple pops with you.
>> RB (17:21):
I mean. Yeah, you
did. And you also let me drive
back to Nashville, which was. That was
awesome.
>> Jonathan (17:30):
Yeah. Well, buddy, what would you have done? Me being a man?
I had two ladies, Ashley and her friend Caitlin.
>> RB (17:35):
Well, I would probably suggest to
take an Uberland to the golf course, knowing that you're in a
drink instead of driving the rental car, but.
>> Jonathan (17:43):
Well, yeah, that would have been more of a better sound
idea.
>> RB (17:46):
I'm here.
>> Jonathan (17:47):
But in that instance, it was either, a,
they drive, and I go with you,
or b, you drive yourself,
and I drive them. And I chose to drive them just because
now you were fine. Bud, you had your shirt off. You know, everyone's
playing acoustic songs at this nice country club, and you're pulling your shirt up
and down like you're at a concert. So you've seen
(18:07):
perfect time driving.
>> RB (18:11):
Yes, I was good.
That was great.
>> Jonathan (18:17):
But the players, so they put on the, You know, that's the thing
about going to Nashville. I think that
from my perspective and our perspective is that, like,
you know, you think about it, and all you want to do, maybe your people
want to go to Broadway, which is fine. That's fine, every now and then,
but the reality is there's more to it than that of. And,
for example, this event highlighted six
(18:38):
songwriters, and gave them the
stage for 30 minutes. And you got to hear some really
cool artists that might not be known yet, but are in the scene
trying to make it. Trying to make it.
>> RB (18:48):
Dude, I didn't realize that Ella Langley
was one of them until, like, recently.
>> Jonathan (18:54):
She got up and sang that song with the
chick. Yeah.
>> RB (18:58):
Excuse me.
You,
Riley Green, which. Can we get into that?
>> Jonathan (19:08):
I mean, Frank told me that. Yeah, we can, but she's like, I think Ella
and Riley are gonna perform a song
here.
>> RB (19:16):
First time ever in Nashville. Now, you can't tell us what's
gonna happen, right? It's your first time. It's like, don't
stop. but it was cool to see her perform
that. And, dude, I've been on a kick.
I sent you the dude's photo or
video of, this Gavin
Adcock,
and he performed that acting up
(19:38):
again song. Mm And I
dig it. And I like it. And, I would probably never have
heard of him, but now I didn't realize how big he really was,
so. And then obviously cool Taylor, Tyler
Reeve, Ray Fulcher, and then John Daley got up
there and sang some songs for everyone.
So it was all around, dude. A
great, fun time.
>> Jonathan (19:59):
It was, Daley, surprisingly, has a pretty
good voice. I mean, you would
think someone that has smoked
the amount of cigarettes he has that, that would have some negative effect
on, on the vocal cords, but. And I'm sure there's professional
singers that smoke too. But, yeah, he had, he had a really good voice,
man. That was a lot of fun. So,
(20:20):
yeah, thank you, guys.
Now, we shot that golf ball out of the
AR, but now this guy.
>> RB (20:26):
Explains the ball further than out of that damn
gun.
>> Jonathan (20:30):
He asked if anyone's ever shot an AR
and. Or if anyone hasn't shot an
AR, and none of you fuckers put
your hands up but me because I'm like, I haven't had. Right. But it
wasn't even that big of a deal. He was making it sound like this
golf ball was going to go 360 yards
onto the green. And I'm watching your ball.
(20:51):
It was a little bunt slice 110 yards to the right.
I'm like, what in the shit is this happening?
Doctor Phil's ball probably went further than
his drive by a little bit, but it still only went about 160 yards,
200. So that whole
thing kind of had me twisted up. We went from that par four where you can
just hit a wedge in the, to now we're hitting eight irons, six
(21:11):
irons, whatever. But that was fun.
I've never seen a golf ball shot out of an AR cannon
before. So for any event
planners out there, that might be something you want to do is maybe bring in someone
with, an ar cannon and let people
shoot golf balls from it. If you're like.
Spent a little time down at Troubadour on Tuesday, we didn't get to
(21:32):
play. Our, our guests that we would play with
were not available. But, You had a good time at troubadour,
apparently, huh?
>> RB (21:38):
yeah.
>> Jonathan (21:39):
Nice overnight stay.
>> RB (21:40):
Yeah, yeah, it was, it was nice. felt good to be on
property, boys. I was happy to have you
guys.
>> Jonathan (21:46):
I mean, there was a dead rabbit in the pool. Did you?
>> RB (21:49):
No, I asked if I should get that
out and they said somebody was gonna come get
it, so, But that probably wasn't. They probably had to
shock the pool for that thing.
>> Jonathan (21:59):
Oh, for sure. And I wonder if the rabbit, like, was dropped
by the air by, like, a. Ah, hawker.
>> RB (22:04):
Yeah.
>> Jonathan (22:05):
Or if it just potentially.
>> RB (22:06):
That's a good. Yeah.
>> Jonathan (22:08):
Yeah.
>> RB (22:09):
Yes. but always good to go
back there, you know, just to smell the fire pits and everything
else. Have, some good dinner. And,
unfortunately, the golf course was looking great because the member guest
was Thursday, and we were there on Tuesday, Wednesday.
>> Jonathan (22:25):
But, oh, that golf course looks so good, man.
>> RB (22:27):
It looks really good. So,
now, go ahead, bud.
>> Jonathan (22:31):
Well, I was just gonna say that
segwaying into golf, you and I had a little bit of a,
experience, let's say. And I had an experience
for two days. So, a couple weeks
ago, about the time our last
episode came out, I played some g with
Garrett Green, seven southern Mason
(22:52):
Williams at Nemacollen
on Thursday. And
naturally, Mason's a hell of a player. Like we all know
that. It's a known fact. My man is a professional.
Well, my man shot 65, seven under, no
bogeys. I'm, mystic and made it look
easy, effortless.
(23:14):
So, Friday, you and I are playing
golf at peak Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport
with your buddies from Rhode island. And
Mason Williams tags along with us.
Well,
it started to look too damn easy
through the first five holes, and then it just kept looking
(23:34):
easier through the first eight holes. And then you make the
turn, you get through 1213, and you
go, damn. I mean,
what was my man doing?
>> RB (23:45):
He was, through 15.
He was eight under. And I think you even
said to me in the cart, because at that point, I got to
four, and I think something
was said, like, oh, you're four under. And I said, yeah, I'm still four
back. Like, think about that.
Right there wasn't that much.
(24:06):
I couldn't make that up anywhere, if that makes sense, you know?
I mean, like, he was playing so good that, and
I was playing, in my mind, really good for myself. So it was
like one of those things. Yeah, and then I.
Mason shoots. He, should have had ten under.
>> Jonathan (24:20):
Should have had birdie on 18. A pete
die to shoot 62.
Miss Birdie shot 63. So, two day
total, nine under and seven under. That's a
total of 16 under par in two rounds. No
bogeys. Now, if this was a 36 hole event,
my man might have cracked, 25 30 under,
(24:41):
but that wasn't. This was for fun. So I get it. So you people
don't judge what I just said. But the point is to shoot
that type of score two days in a row, bogey
free really exhibits the quality of the
player, my man. And, dude, I was like, fuck
Mason. He is just. He's on one, dude. And
his putting, he's always been a good
(25:01):
putter, but his
putting now is at a completely different
level. Like, he's making some good
1520 footers. The pace is just
incredible. it was a lot of fun to watch. I was
pulling for him to shoot that little ten under.
62 tie the course record, I guess.
But still, 63 is. Is not
(25:24):
too shabby.
>> RB (25:25):
Well, yeah, I mean, he shot 16 under for two rounds. With you.
No bogeys,
we couldn't do. Best ball for the year.
16 under.
What do you think about that?
>> Jonathan (25:40):
I know.
>> RB (25:41):
So, regardless, that was fun to watch him
get his game dialed. And I think I even made
you a, comment to you when he got to eight under. I said,
and I mean, it's out of respect. It doesn't feel like
he's doing anything special. It's just
solid.
>> Jonathan (25:58):
Yeah, I mean.
>> RB (25:58):
I mean, except for the fact on 15, he had driver gap wedge,
but not had driver six. Aren't in the par five.
>> Jonathan (26:03):
But, I mean,
I mean, hit that drive 340.
Like, no exaggeration. It
was like 340 yard. There's a little
downwind, but still, it.
>> RB (26:18):
Doesn'T matter, dude, you drive wedge into a
par five. Yeah, a legit par five to. Not like a,
poop one.
>> Jonathan (26:24):
So that was that.
So, the last couple of weeks with you and I has been. It's been
pretty,
>> RB (26:29):
There's been a lot, dude.
>> Jonathan (26:30):
I know there has been a lot.
>> RB (26:32):
And one of our previous
guests had been on a couple times,
got back in the winter circle on the champions tour. This
past week, Rocco media
won the Jim Furyk, and friends event.
Okay. In Jacksonville, Florida.
He is one. This is kind of a cool stat.
(26:55):
Rock has won in his twenties, in his thirties,
in his forties, in his fifties, and his sixties.
>> Jonathan (27:00):
Wow. That's pretty
cool. Yeah.
>> RB (27:04):
So, congratulations, to Rocco. We're
hoping that we can potentially get him to pop
in, but he had to go to a playoff with Bob
Astiz, and ended up making with that circle j,
which, Dyer. What's his name?
>> Jonathan (27:19):
Jeff Dyer.
>> RB (27:19):
Jeff Dyer is probably still south
or north. Sorry.
>> Jonathan (27:24):
Yeah, that's what I said when we sent
Rocco a little congratulatory text. I said,
jeff Dyer is probably on the moon right now, bud.
I mean, he joins him on his show on Sirius. Congrats,
Rocco. I love it. B cats. Oh, wait
a second. So, peering, him and Adoc
called me on earlier this week.
(27:45):
Well, last weekend, actually, before their member, guest,
shartiers. And Steve's like, bash, you're
never going to believe this. I'm like, what'd you shoot today,
guys? And Steve's like, I shot one over
my own ball. He's like, you're the problem.
I'm like, man, I'm happy he shot one over. That's
phenomenal, bud. But I don't think I'm the problem. I think the
(28:06):
course that you play is the problem. Yeah, I didn't
ever. I did not find out how they did in that.
>> RB (28:11):
Yeah, I haven't heard much at all.
I heard about Friday, haven't heard about Saturday.
So that's typically how Steve peering
works. gets amped up, high up on his game,
immediately brought back to reality. and
generally, people that are
an average golfer, that's what happens, and that's fine.
(28:32):
And I'm not just singling him out. I'm saying that
golf's not that easy. If golf was that easy and you could
play, there's a reason why. You know what I mean?
>> Jonathan (28:42):
Mm Yeah.
>> RB (28:42):
So. But, no, I have not heard any results from Steve
peering about Saturday, or adot, for that
matter. and generally,
when peering does well, we're quick to hear about those kind of things.
>> Jonathan (28:54):
So, yeah, he said he had a little bit of beef with me, I
guess, because the last episode, I was talking, saying some things,
which I don't know what I even said, but, well, it's simple.
>> RB (29:03):
It's, it's about being, not being a partner
with him anymore. And, I mean, guys,
we've tried this. We're like, we're beating a dead horse right now.
>> Jonathan (29:13):
Yeah, I just think it's a little mental for him, that's all.
It's a little mental.
>> RB (29:17):
I think that he has more fun, like,
never mind. I'm gonna go down this road. I don't want to,
because then I'm gonna hear it.
>> Jonathan (29:24):
So can we talk about the prototype titleist golf
ball? Yes.
>> RB (29:28):
I, was fortunate enough to get some of those
prototype 2025 pro v one.
Pro v one x's. I don't play the pro v one x, so I gave
those to a friend of ours,
and, you and I split the pro v one
SDE.
>> Jonathan (29:43):
No, we didn't split it. You gave me one three,
but, okay.
>> RB (29:47):
So I made, I made, I made
a 30 foot eagle putt
on Tyler Reeve, and he took my ball and threw in the lake on
16. So I'll probably kicked
off Tyler, the
next one. I think I actually lost that
one. And then I gave you.
>> Jonathan (30:06):
That was nice. You. I appreciate it. I actually really,
truly saw a difference in that golf ball. Now, granted,
it was probably one, which
I'm usually playing pro v one x, but
with that being said, the COVID
lasted phenomenally. Like,
typically, my balls get eaten up because of the
wedges. This cover lasted a little bit longer.
(30:28):
I played the whole round with it. It was a little dicey at the end there,
but into the wind, no
movement.
>> RB (30:35):
Great.
>> Jonathan (30:36):
feel around the green so
the x spins a little more.
>> RB (30:41):
Do you necessarily need that?
>> Jonathan (30:43):
Well, that's the thing, because as you noticed and
as well as some other people noticed, my
driving ability with this golf ball was great.
I mean, I feel like I got a little bit.
>> RB (30:54):
Yeah, a little higher. A little more launch.
>> Jonathan (30:57):
Well, launch, but also a little more distance. I'm not going to be the guy
that says, you know, I picked up 20 yards, because that's not true.
But I probably picked up three to five yards on a
carry compared to what I was.
so I might be doing the old switcheroo for 2025,
but I'm playing. Playing a new pro v one
in lieu of the pro v one x, because it does make a difference.
(31:18):
Now, I'm not. And I got to say this.
I don't know what I'm going to do. It's end of season now, so it's not really
that big of a deal now. But I don't know if I
love the sm ten s, dude. I really don't know.
>> RB (31:29):
You're crazy.
>> Jonathan (31:30):
I don't. I have had
such a difficult time adjusting. For
whatever reason, they're the same spec. The only
thing that's different is the face, the
finish.
>> RB (31:42):
Did you change, your grinds at all?
>> Jonathan (31:45):
Same everything. Same everything.
>> RB (31:48):
Well, do you think that your attack angle has changed a little
bit?
>> Jonathan (31:52):
No, because I had both wedges, my SM
954, my SM 1054,
and I was carrying my SM 954
three yards further than my SM
1054.
Same grind, same everything.
The only thing that could be a little bit different
(32:13):
is I feel like the sm ten s
might be a little heavier.
>> RB (32:17):
I think they're heavier. I, think that's why I like them so
much.
>> Jonathan (32:21):
And so it's not so much around the green with my
58. That part's pretty.
Pretty similar. but
what I'm saying is, like, those shots from 110, 118,
120, you know, I'm.
I'm coming up short. I'm pulling them
left. It's not the accuracy is not there. So
(32:41):
I might do the old JT move, where I keep a couple sm nine s
in the bag and keep the SM 1058. Yeah.
>> RB (32:47):
Well, you know, somebody, like, can get that done for you.
>> Jonathan (32:50):
Yeah, I do. So, I don't
know. But I will say with the
driver aspect of it, end of season kind of results
here. You're driving with that new Gt.
Mason's driving with that titleless Gt. Eric
Childers is hot on that Gt.
it might be a good play for next season.
>> RB (33:09):
Yeah, it. It sits so
darn pretty. I love it, dude. I love
the launch on it. So.
Never thought that I'd have a titleist driver in the bag, but I
do, so that's exciting.
>> Jonathan (33:25):
Yeah.
>> RB (33:25):
I mean, I've had three months off to think about it, so that's
good.
>> Jonathan (33:30):
Yeah. Well, and that was the
thing, too. Like, you and I, we didn't get to play much golf this year.
you know, we talk every day. We send videos, whatnot. But, you know, we
really only played a handful of times this year. Really, like five times.
We should probably plan a golf trip.
>> RB (33:44):
Yeah.
>> Jonathan (33:45):
The fall.
>> RB (33:46):
Yeah, we should.
>> Jonathan (33:47):
The winner.
>> RB (33:48):
Yeah, the winter.
how pretty is Nemicol right now with
the leaves changing mid October up there?
It's. It's amazing right now. I saw you hit smacking some balls on
Sunday by yourself at the end of the range.
>> Jonathan (34:00):
Yeah, back of the range. Turned a little music
on and just kind of hit some balls. Yeah, it's
perfect. Mandae. nemo Colon has really,
really blossomed this year with the openings of the two
hotels. Gusto, the
italian restaurant, is slated open this fall,
and it looks like a restoration
hardware store.
>> RB (34:22):
Yes.
>> Jonathan (34:23):
So I'm stoked for that. So you guys out there
listening today, make sure you check out Neme
online@nemacolan.com. dot. The golf is phenomenal. If
you can get up here between now and the
end of November, I highly recommend it. But if you
can't plan a winter stay, bring your family,
check out the resort. It will
(34:43):
certainly knock your socks off. And we are happy
to be partners with Nemicolon Resort.
So again, that's nemacolon.com. and I tell you, dude, it's
funny because we go to Nashville, hanging out with some of the
boys. That's what they talk about.
>> RB (34:57):
Nemo.
>> Jonathan (34:58):
Colin, I think we, I think me and the fan want to come up to,
I think, Nemocon maybe in January for
blah blah blah, like three or four times. I've heard
that from three or four different people.
So we're lucky.
>> RB (35:12):
We are very lucky.
>> Jonathan (35:13):
Sunday.
>> RB (35:14):
Yes. I will see you Sunday up there, bud. Little
10:10 a.m. tea time. So
that's exciting to know that I'll see you again.
>> Jonathan (35:23):
Yeah, you will, Buddha.
>> RB (35:25):
But hockey has started.
>> Jonathan (35:28):
Did it start?
>> RB (35:29):
It's. It's Wednesday. This Wednesday past
Wednesday. It started. So that's exciting. We got
hockey. Full force.
>> Jonathan (35:37):
Regular, season.
>> RB (35:38):
Yes, yes, regular season. Which means
NBA is not far behind.
>> Jonathan (35:46):
October is a great month.
>> RB (35:47):
It's all coming together, dude. I think the PGA
Tour will start back up here, kind of, technically
speaking, some, some decent events coming up.
>> Jonathan (35:56):
Oh, dude, did, I didn't even hardly watch any
of the President's cup?
>> RB (36:01):
No, I didn't. I didn't watch a shot, to be
honest with you.
>> Jonathan (36:05):
I mean, it was on in the locker room when we finished up on
Sunday, two kids were watching. I'm like, bud, can I put on football?
>> RB (36:10):
Yeah.
>> Jonathan (36:11):
And I did. I got the remote and change it. Cause I'm like, who gives?
Like, it's not that I don't care. It's just that it wasn't, it's not
the right.
>> RB (36:17):
It's not exciting.
>> Jonathan (36:18):
It's not exciting.
>> RB (36:19):
It's. Yeah, but, hey, I'm excited. They won.
So that's exciting for the United States of America. They
won. Now, the real question is, can they
win the Ryder cup in 2025 at
Bethpage Black? That place is going to be bonkers,
dude. In New York, those fans are going to be
nuts.
>> Jonathan (36:37):
Yeah, that's going to be
nuts. I'll tell you what else we got to get lined up here. Bob
Mennery. I mean, this cat, now, how many times have
we been in contact with Bob Henry? He
wants to play golf with us, bring his boys up. We get this match
going.
>> RB (36:51):
He wants a money game, this, that, and the other, which, for the record,
we play Bob Mennery, we will absolutely
throttle this guy.
>> Jonathan (37:00):
Well, we don't know, but that's what we want to find out.
>> RB (37:02):
We want to find out and he, you know,
whatever, but it'll happen.
>> Jonathan (37:08):
It's got to do it.
>> RB (37:09):
Showdown in Motown. That's for sure.
>> Jonathan (37:11):
Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
Well, you guys, man, I don't even know what
to tell you all to do this weekend. It's Thursday. I know everybody is
feeling the weekend. Vibes coming up. Football is
back tonight. Little NFC west
action, I guess, with San Fran and,
Seattle kicking off tonight. Well, I mean, I think
McCaffrey's a, huge decided team.
(37:33):
And also my fantasy team
suck. I was so high on my fantasy team early
on. I mean, I had these great players,
right? None of them have
materialized at all. I mean, Tyree kill naturally can't
do shit because two is out. So he has, like,
five points in three games. Two games.
Etienne, nowhere to be found. Patrick
(37:55):
Mahomes was terrible for the first three weeks. I
put Justin fields in. He got me nothing hard.
>> RB (38:00):
Travis Kelsey's dog doo doo.
>> Jonathan (38:03):
I mean, it's a tough
sledding right.
>> RB (38:06):
Now, but as long it's a good year to.
If you play halfway decent NFL this year, you're
separating yourselves.
>> Jonathan (38:13):
Yeah. So, yeah, because we
know. Because we know.
All right, guys. You guys enjoy your
weekend. Enjoy the fall weather.
>> RB (38:24):
Yeah, let's have a great weekend. Go to chasing
underscore birdies. Tap, it. Like
it. Tune in. We appreciate you listening to the
episodes. And again, we got, the guests
for. In two weeks. We met
down in Nashville, and it'll be exciting to
talk to them a little bit about hunting and, dude, I mean,
(38:44):
you and I got a duck hunt scheduled, so that's exciting.
>> Jonathan (38:47):
I told you. Yeah, we got to go on a hunt.
It's like them coming on golf trips with us. We'll be that. We'll
be. We'll be that person. Like, hey,
do I tie my boots this way?
>> RB (38:58):
Yeah.
>> Jonathan (38:59):
Should I. Okay. Should I stand here?
Okay. Yeah, that'll be us.
>> RB (39:03):
But that's exciting. So, get out of your comfort
zone a little bit. And that's what everyone should do this week. Get out of your
comfort zone a little bit. Go have fun. Do something you
wouldn't do. All right, have a
great week, and we'll catch you in two weeks.
>> Jonathan (39:17):
Hey, guys, thanks for tuning in. Thank you to Evo ally Emily at
simpler media for all your help. Rachel London,
Jacqueline di Paterio. You girls kick ass. We
appreciate it so much. Thank you all for tuning in today on chasing
birdies. And like Pep said, we'll catch you all in two.
