This show gets into some recap of a recent golf excursion in GA and SC. If you’ve been to the Tree (“Peachtree”), you already know how special it is. If you’ve been lucky enough to stay and play at Sage Valley, you will enjoy the commentary in this episode.

We got into the recent travel golf we’ve both been lucky enough to play. A phenomenal host and a phenomenal group of dudes make any golf trip special. After some tension arose Friday night between the two of us, we licked our wounds and moved on. For Pepe, he couldn’t help but bring this up at the beginning of the show.

We recap the Peachtree Golf Club in Atlanta and shed some light on that day, as well as how the course is playing. What holes are beautiful and what holes are your nemesis creates some valid discussions. We mosey on over to Sage Valley, where it feels like you’re arriving at a 5-star resort, but you realize you’re at a private golf club with no cost to spare.

Get a glimpse of our last week just by listening to this episode…it’s that easy. And find some friends who aren’t scared to travel and play some golf. The memories are worth it, we promise.

>> Jonathan (00:07):
You guys out there that just hit play, you are
tuning in to a fresh new episode here
on Chasing Birdies. It's been a fun
filled couple of weeks, my man. I can't wait to get in some things.
But first, how's it going?

>> RB (00:22):
Everything's good, bud. Everything's good. Glad
we're back on the same page.

>> Jonathan (00:26):
After our little back in the saddle.

>> RB (00:28):
After our saddle bickerment at
Sage.

>> Jonathan (00:32):
Um, we had a bickerment.

>> RB (00:35):
Put a little show on for the people.

>> Jonathan (00:37):
Uh, we put a show on for the people.

>> RB (00:40):
But here we are, boys. We're back.
That's why we're brothers.

>> Jonathan (00:45):
I mean, but, yeah,
I don't have. Sorry, guys. I just put us in and I should have done
that before this show started.

>> RB (00:53):
Yeah, that's what I did.

>> Jonathan (00:54):
So, um, listen,
I don't have a brother, you know, but. But you're
obviously a brother to me, and, uh, you know,
I understand. Sometimes tempers flare, especially
whenever sometimes you and I are on little opposite ends
of how we collectively look at some things.
But, uh, but there's no hard feelings and

(01:14):
I apologize after I said. But I tapped you on the shoulder walking
into the.

>> RB (01:18):
Yeah, you did, Lodge.

>> Jonathan (01:18):
I said, but I'm not mad at you. I'm sorry if I.

>> RB (01:21):
Four minutes later. So it was all good.

>> Jonathan (01:24):
Four minutes, bud. What, do you want me to do it right away?

>> RB (01:26):
Like, I mean, we could have still been waiting there,
potentially. So.

>> Jonathan (01:31):
I mean, that was kind of funny, though. Why'd you
bring that up anyways? Like, these people wouldn't know that we got into
a little riff. We didn't get into a riff, but.

>> RB (01:39):
Well, first off, bud, I. I do want to say. Well,
there's two things I want to say. One
episode brought to you by Red Valley. Make sure you
go to redvanley.com. check the boys out some fresh
new gear. I had a tennis shirt on this weekend at Sage
Valley, and I felt of good in it. It was light,
um, showed all my chest hair,

(02:01):
um, which was nice. So all
the boys were making fun of me, telling me, I didn't know that you could shower with a
sweater on.

>> Jonathan (02:08):
But it's waterproof.

>> RB (02:10):
It is waterproof. Second thing, dude.

>> Jonathan (02:16):
What?

>> RB (02:17):
Congratulations to you for qualifying
for the 2025 West
Virginia State Amateur, which, I mean,
and you can say it, dude. It's
hard. It's hard.

>> Jonathan (02:30):
Yeah. It's hard under pressure. But wait, we
could get it. Thank you. Thank you for congratulating
me. I appreciate it. And I'd be happy to get into that a little bit
later in the show.
But the third thing is your birthday was
this past week turned nice. 39 years
old. Not even 40 yet, dude. So happy
birthday again. I know the public out there saw it. They were rooting

(02:52):
you on, and, um, I was happy to be a part of
it.

>> RB (02:55):
I appreciate that. I really appreciate that.
Um, saying happy birthday to me about.

>> Jonathan (03:00):
1Am we sure did.

>> RB (03:03):
And, um, so that was exciting
and memorable. Um, everybody thought it
was my 40th birthday that we were with.

>> Jonathan (03:11):
So, you know, and some people make the comment sometimes,
you know, and. And you take a while. You know, that
guy, he's not. He's not 39.
You know, you've heard it before in a member guest. So
it's. It's, uh, you're a
phenomenal 39 year old dude. So thank you. Uh, I was happy to be
a part of it.

>> RB (03:29):
Thank you. That was a memorable, um,
39th birthday. Obviously, we'll get into it, but
boys, I mean, uh, our buddy Taylor
Kinney came out with. He went
missing for about two minutes, which was no surprise to anybody,
but he came out of the bathroom with an orange.

>> Jonathan (03:47):
Yeah.

>> RB (03:47):
With a candle in it
burning. And everybody's saying happy birthday to me around the fire. Sage
Valley. So that was awesome. And you know, Taylor
doesn't know this, but TK Orange is my
favorite. So I don't know if he knew.

>> Jonathan (04:01):
That or I don't know where
he got that orange or the candle. It wasn't even
like a shoelace that he lit on fire. It was a candle.
I mean, which.

>> RB (04:11):
That could have been an option.

>> Jonathan (04:12):
So that was phenomenal. Very thoughtful.
Very thoughtful. So we all thought about you and, uh,
TK Took it the extra mile. And actually we. We sung Happy
birthday to you after. Yeah.

>> RB (04:23):
So thank you, everyone that came. It was a blast.
We, uh, we played two gems.
M. One of the courses we played,
uh, three of the people never
played. Um, and then the other course,
uh, five. The other five of the six never played.
So it was fun to experience that. And,
uh, man, that's what. Again, this is what we're talk. Talking about. This

(04:46):
is what the golf trips are all about. What we just did this past
weekend.

>> Jonathan (04:49):
You know, I said something about
going on a golf trip with guys and, you know, staying under
one roof. Nothing beats it. And my.
My theory behind that stands true after this
golf trip. But
I think that we.
When you travel on a golf

(05:11):
trip, if you have the means, the party
starts on the pj. Okay. There's no two ways
about it. And unfortunately, we did not
travel on the PJ for this trip, which in my
opinion was a little Debbie downer move. But I get it, I get
it. Tariffs are in full force, in effect, and everyone's a little bit.
But our buddy BK

(05:31):
almost got left at the airport, boys. I mean, he
was in front of me at the check in line.
He was in front of me at the checking line. I couldn't tell if the guy checking
him in was kidding or not. When he said baggage
cutoffs in four minutes. And I'm going, holy shit. I got.

>> RB (05:46):
He was joking a little bit too, dude.

>> Jonathan (05:48):
I did too. And I. And I'm thinking
to myself, I need my clubs because I got a qualifier tomorrow.
But BK was in front of me, Trojek was
in front of me at the other guy, and
BK can't get on the plane. And the guy that Trochee
was on took me after bk. So
BK says, hey, take my carry on. You know,

(06:10):
when he sent that, Brandon sent a text message that said,
I'm stuck, I'm not getting on the plane. I had his carry on.
I'm thinking to myself, my man is going to be. He didn't have.
He's going to have to go to Target to get a night night outfit.

>> RB (06:22):
Well, and we were all on the plane too,
which we cut it a little tight. Did. Let's be honest. That
was kind of on us. A little irresponsible.
But I mean, we left Sage valley
at, uh, 3:45. We pulled into
Augusta Regional Airport at
4:13.

(06:44):
And at 4:15 they were cutting off,
taking luggage.

>> Jonathan (06:48):
I can't believe that you let that happen.

>> RB (06:51):
Well, and, but I'm getting a little better. Can
we understand? I'm getting a little
maybe. And I was not antsy at all. I was not
rushing people. I was just kind of like, hey, we'll get there.

>> Jonathan (07:03):
No, because you were first in line and you weren't. You were.

>> RB (07:05):
No, I was, wasn't I? Second. I think Oats went
before Oats was in front of me. Oats,
they said, Mr. Oates, you just got in
because I, I think, I don't know.

>> Jonathan (07:16):
You were first in our group. Oats was second.

>> RB (07:19):
Okay.

>> Jonathan (07:19):
BK was third, Trochee was fourth and I was
last. But,
um, that was funny. Now if you fly
private, you, you don't even need a, uh,
carry bag for the clubs, boys. You just tell them, hey, take them to
the tarmac.

>> RB (07:34):
We're not even talking to these people. We're not talking.

>> Jonathan (07:37):
Not even. All you're just worried about, hey, we're.

>> RB (07:39):
Not even in the Delta line, worried about
anything.

>> Jonathan (07:43):
The conversation goes from, hey, I'll see you at midnight,
to hey, do you think dinner's still going to be warm when I get
home?

>> RB (07:50):
Correct, correct.

>> Jonathan (07:51):
You know what I mean? Or also, there's
all kind of things you could say.

>> RB (07:55):
But I mean, to be fair,
if that was an airport to do it at, it's Augusta,
uh, because the same guys that took our luggage, they saw us
at the gate. So,
um, that is the place. I said, guys, this
is one. This. There's literally two gates at this place. We're
fine. Everything's fine.

>> Jonathan (08:14):
And the, um, the flight to Atlanta from
Augusta is like 20 minutes. I cannot believe we waited
in that traffic on Friday going from August, uh, Atlanta
to Augusta. It was crazy.
Absolutely insane.

>> RB (08:27):
I would have been like, uh, from. From
the airport right there.
Um, it probably 15 minute flight on a
PJ.

>> Jonathan (08:35):
Yeah. Yeah. So
needless to say, BK did end up making on the flight. He was last in
line all the way in the back F32.
And, um, we made the connection in
Atlanta and mosey down home.
And before we get into all kind of stuff, because there's so
much good stuff, but I do want to, and I know you do, too,
so we want to take that moment here and thank Chris Collins

(08:57):
and his family,
um, for the generosity,
for just letting the boys come down and play some G and being
phenomenal hosts, and you guys are awesome, and we
appreciate it very much. So thank you to that
and come to West Virginia. That's all.

>> RB (09:13):
Yeah, the Collins family, it was great.
I obviously, uh, knew Chris going into the
weekend from my previous time there, but, um, I got
to meet, uh, you know, I knew
Colby, but I got to meet his other sons. And,
um, it was awesome to see everybody finally put,
you know, a face to a name, so

(09:33):
to speak. Because he talked about his boys all the time, and
they were first class. And the house that
we stayed in, dude, I thought for
38. For 39 years. 38
years till my birthday, it was
Hang On Snoopy. Snoopy. Hang
on. No,

(09:54):
it's Hang On Sloopy.

>> Jonathan (09:56):
What?

>> RB (09:56):
Yeah, yeah, it's Hang On
Sloopy. And the house that we
stayed in. I'm not going to share the name, but
this gentleman, I believe it was his grandfather.
Grandfather. His father wrote that song.
So it was all in the house. Hanging up
the lyrics. Uh, it was really cool.

(10:18):
It was really cool. But again, I'm like, that sign's wrong.

>> Jonathan (10:21):
Yeah.

>> RB (10:22):
And they're like, no, it's Sloopy. So
I learned something new this week. I learned
that it's sloopy, not Snoopy.
So there's a fun fact for everybody that's listening today.

>> Jonathan (10:34):
Mhm.

>> RB (10:35):
Um, so I will be sure to change
my lyrics whenever I'm singing that again.

>> Jonathan (10:40):
So Friday kicked off at Peachtree Golf Club
and you know, one of Bobby Jones design courses.
It's, I guess the clubhouse stood
through time within the Civil War era and
all this history, and
it is just an iconic piece
of land. I mean, the golf course

(11:00):
is. I forgot how good it was. I
mean, what do you think?

>> RB (11:05):
Like, it's literally one of my favorites.
It is one of my favorite.

>> Jonathan (11:09):
Good.

>> RB (11:10):
I love that.
All the par threes are great. They all, you know, you go
from a nine iron to a four iron.
Um, um, so you're nine iron and then you're hitting like a seven
iron, then you're hitting a, like a six
or seven iron and then you're hitting,
um, m. Like a five iron, four

(11:32):
iron on, um, I believe
it's six. Um, so it's,
it's, it's incredible. It's literally.
I would for me personally, for golf
courses that I've played a couple times, it's probably top two
for me just because it's just the
layout, the, the um, the

(11:52):
conditioning of it.

>> Jonathan (11:54):
Yeah.

>> RB (11:54):
Um, the caddies,
all the caddies are amazing. Our, our caddy
that we had, I mean, Mike Oates,
he probably would have put him in a Ziploc bag and took him
everywhere he could.

>> Jonathan (12:07):
Well, he's.

>> RB (12:08):
For sure. I know that he would want to do that after the weekend he had.

>> Jonathan (12:11):
But he said it was like a gazelle out there.

>> RB (12:14):
Oh man, this dude. And he wasn't, he
wouldn't get up there like, panting. He was like yardage,
bang.

>> Jonathan (12:22):
Yeah. And, uh, the caddy makes it. The
caddy absolutely makes it. But the whole time you're on
that property, the one hole that I remembered and
you know, when you play a golf course and you can remember holes,
that it meant something to you that day.
And the one hole that I remembered vividly was like the only
hole. And that doesn't mean that I didn't love the course in the

(12:43):
past, but I probably just was, you know, floating around somewhere
in my own mind. But
I remembered number two and
golly, I could not wait to get to number two
and that beautiful little, little par
five, you know, and your second shot,
you kind of have a downhill lie going downhill with water

(13:03):
in front, water to the right, a little cutoff
green and you got to hit a shot. I mean, you might only
have. You know, I think I had, like, two bills, but
you got to hit a shot. You're, uh, You're. You're kind of on
the downslope, right? That's what makes that hole
so challenging. You know, even if you had a wedge,
think about that. Think about how many times you get on a downhill slope with a wedge

(13:24):
and you just get steep with it. What do you do? Lay the sod.
So it's a little bit of a challenge.

>> RB (13:30):
Well, you know, our
host, uh, gracious enough to host this a couple
times, but, um, number
12 is.
I said it when I teed off. It is the most beautiful
hole, and it is
my nemesis. Dude, I. It's the best
hole, but I hate the hole. Does that make sense?

>> Jonathan (13:53):
You hate driving hole?

>> RB (13:54):
Because I have trouble on it every
freaking time. And,
um, it is just. It's a. That
dog leg, right? I. I mean, I'm in the fairway. It's not like
I'm. Or I'm in the right rough, whatever, but
it's just. That second shot doesn't fit my eye one bit,
and I miss it, right? And it. On
the right side of the green, and then that trickles all the way down,

(14:18):
and then it's a little wet down there, and
you can't hit a good chip shot,
and it's just a mess. Dude. It's. For me,
it's a mess, but it is an amazing hole.
Um, but for. For
me, my favorite hole out there, I would say,
like, my absolute favorite
hole, um, would

(14:40):
probably be number seven.
The. The dog leg, right? Par four. You can hit it
around the trees or over. I take it over
just because I hit it higher. But,
um, then that approach shot, dude, it's just.
It's beautiful. It's m. Beautiful.

>> Jonathan (14:57):
Beautiful. What hole was it? Oh,
it was number 15. We get off the
green, and I started. I started off hitting my
driver decent, and then for some reason, I could not hit the face.
I was like. And they were going straight, but,
like, all my ball marks was, like, on the top of my club. And I kept saying, like,
I'm not hitting the fucking face of the club. I'm missing

(15:18):
it. And
we get off the green on 14, and it's
thundering a little bit, so BCATs
and says, hey, let's. Let's go. Let's hit real quick, you know?
So we go over to the tee box,
and the caddy waves us on, and
BK Hits. TK Hits,

(15:39):
and I hit. But. Right. Kind of Before I
hit was the siren for the weather delay.
And I roasted that drive. I
mean, I cured it.

>> RB (15:51):
Mhm.

>> Jonathan (15:52):
So the caddy comes back up to us after the
rain, uh, delay, and he says, hey, guys, I said,
uh, two of you are in the water
and one of you are
fine, but you're going to have like a 9 ironing to the par
5. And we're all what? He's like, you hit from the
front tees. Well, that's nice.

(16:13):
So what do you want us to do? He said, go back. Go play it again. So
BK Got a free shot, TK Got his free shot.
And me, I proceed to hit it high on the
face. And it goes like 160 yards. So I had like 400
yards on his par five. And
that's just the way the cookie crumbles. But it's a great
hole, great track. Great track. Collier's

(16:33):
phenomenal human being. His whole staff.
Um, you know, I know the one gentleman there used to work at the
Greenbrier, so I friendly with him a little bit from the past.
And m. It's just cool, man. It's just
a cool vibe. It's a cool vibe. So
you're kind of sniffing around at Augusta. You know
what I mean? You're just kind of sniffing around.

>> RB (16:53):
You get that vibe there too, dude. So,
um, it's very
Augusta, like there in.
They like it that way, right? Not a lot of people know about
Peachtree Golf Club and they love it that way.
Not, um. A lot of people get the opportunity to play Peachtree
Golf Club and they love it that way. And

(17:14):
it is that vibe when you get there and you
have so much darn fun doing it
while you're there. So after we finished
that, after we finished that, uh, little rain delay, we got back
after it, we had one hole and then you guys were, um. We
waited for you guys for a while. You guys were put on the clock.

>> Jonathan (17:32):
Um, we were 15. You guys are about
to tee off on 18. So yeah, you waited a little bit,
but thank you for waiting.

>> RB (17:40):
So we grabbed a little lunch and then we
threw the sticks in the
car and we headed on up, uh,
to Sage Valley Golf Club,
where we were welcomed with open arms
by our hosts, um, and some other
people. And, um,

(18:02):
it was awesome.

>> Jonathan (18:04):
I know it's almost. It's almost
surreal in a way, because
it's not a resort, but they run it better than a
resort. The service, you know,
they didn't mess up any of the luggage going in any
bedroom. I mean, they. They got it down to
the bedroom, dude, not just a cottage. It's down to the

(18:25):
door.

>> RB (18:26):
Every golf club, country club resort
should just take a gander in a day of
life of Sage Valley, because like you said, um, I
mean, we met our driver at the Augusta airport. He picked us up
because we dropped the rental car off, which was a great move.
Um, and he
handed us all our tags, said, hey, guys, can you throw these on your bags?

(18:48):
Your names are all on it and we'll put them in your room. We never
touched our luggage. One time when we were on property
at Sage Valley, showed up at the Cottages. We had two
cottages. Cottage one, um, and cottage
two. It was on the bag tags. And all your
bags were in a bedroom and all your travel bags
and golf clubs were outside of the right house.

>> Jonathan (19:08):
Yeah. Um,
you know, like that, that is
like, that's called service.

>> RB (19:16):
Mhm.

>> Jonathan (19:17):
And I was happy to have experienced that type of
service because that was unbelievable.

>> RB (19:22):
And that's the thing about going to somewhere like that.
I've told you guys how good it is, but it's almost like I don't
want to keep going because I don't want it to be
a disappointment in some way.
But I think that it exceeded everybody's
expectations that we're on this trip, so.

>> Jonathan (19:40):
Oh, yeah. Hands down. Hands down.
Saturday night was cool as hell, though. I mean, you kind of just
mosey around, grab a little bite to eat at the
lodge. Which was Friday night.

>> RB (19:50):
That was Friday.

>> Jonathan (19:51):
I'm sorry. Friday night kind of gave me some greenbrier vibes
a little bit. And everyone's happy. This was after our little,
um. You and I had a little. Which we
mentioned earlier. Yeah, we. It
was. We made up quick. I wasn't mad. Okay, I'll say it again.
I wasn't. I wasn't really mad.

>> RB (20:07):
I was.

>> Jonathan (20:07):
I was just like, what are you doing? And you were like, what are you doing?
You're. You're. Well, you told me I was wrong and I
said, that's fine. Okay, so.

>> RB (20:16):
So we move on.

>> Jonathan (20:17):
Um, but I was
so stoked to go play the par three. Like, I never played golf
at night, you know, other than hitting driving ball, you know, at
the driving range, under the lights, or, you know, maybe topgolf
every never. But, you know, uh,
was awesome. I mean, the par three,
it got a little game going. See, it all comes down to

(20:40):
who you have with you. Because who you have
with you will make or break
the experience. And it might not
be concrete making or breaking it. It
might be energetic, uh, making it or
breaking it. And man, the Collins
boys and our.

>> RB (20:59):
Group, I mean, I think there was 11
total of us on the par three
course. And everyone was hooting and
hollering the whole way around it. And that's the beautiful thing
about sage, is that the lights are on. But I'll tell you what,
at 1am Those lights are off at
1am and the sprinklers come on five minutes after that.

(21:20):
And it's funny, people, you know, people are telling us it's
hilarious because you'll see people running around when the lights go off with, you'll
see flashlights out there trying, uh, to dodge the
water. And one of our buddies in
the group, um, might have got hit with
some, some rain or some water
going to put it 3:00am in the morning. So,

(21:40):
um, but that little part three shootout
we had was great. And then after we followed it up with some drinks by
the fireplace. Yeah, I
moseyed on back to the, the cottage with a couple of boys
around 12:45. But then there were some of the boys that
stayed up till 3, 3:30, just yucking it up. And you
know what? Guess who was up at 7:30,
8:00 clock the next day ready to go.

>> Jonathan (22:03):
All those guys, Everybody. We were all ready to roll.
Yeah, we stayed out, yucked it up. And I was
surprised, but you know, I know you were
dabbling a little bit. So it was time for 90 Night Tom Kites,
as you say. Um, but that
frickin. We're sitting around that, that fire pit. You
know, you just kind of sit and talking to people and uh, telling stories

(22:23):
and we were telling some freaking crazy stories, man. I mean
like, just some weird shit that like you would not talk about.
Not that it was bad, nothing was just weird.
Exactly. It's just some random shit. And you're just sitting around,
you know, you're laughing and it's, it's funny and blah,
blah, blah, blah, blah. And then the sprinklers hit on at
1:00, 1:15, boom. We're sitting in the

(22:44):
rocking chair and these things come ripping on and
everyone's scurrying around like, okay, that's our sign to
get out of here. But that's the kind of shit that
like I hang on to. Like.

>> RB (22:55):
Yeah, uh, yeah, it was, it was, it was.

>> Jonathan (22:57):
You know what I mean?

>> RB (22:58):
Because, because too did you have. We had so many different
walks of life, truly so many walks
of life there. And
there's, there's one thing
that brought us all together.

>> Jonathan (23:10):
Yep.

>> RB (23:11):
Other than Jason Burbies. But, um, one
thing, and that's golf.

>> Jonathan (23:15):
That's it.

>> RB (23:16):
And that's the beautiful game. Dude. That is the beautiful
game of golf. And,
you know, let's just call it what it is. All right? Five of
my, you know, six of us went. Five of my friends never
met any of those guys. Not one of them.
And on Sunday when we left, everyone was hugging each
other. Yep. And, and give, you know,

(23:37):
high fives, hugging. And, and we, we created
a, A friendship. Everyone created a friendship. And
it's all because of golf. What other thing could we do in our life
that you meet people we wouldn't.
The Collins family. We would never have met them. Yeah, it's
really cool. It's really cool.

>> Jonathan (23:53):
But the round, hitting a big course on Saturday.
Get up kind of ready to roll. You're picking the groups,
you know, And I said it
probably a half dozen times like, thank God a range
session is not indicative of how you're gonna play.
Because I was out on that range and I'm
hitting balls like

(24:14):
everywhere. I'm hitting them fat, I'm hitting them thin, I'm
hitting them low, I can't turn through the ball. And I'm like, this is gonna be
a long day. This is the last thing I need.
Naturally, I'm already thinking about my driver. But,
um, got the round in
with Vinny, um, and
O.T. and my boy
Logan on the bag. I mean, he was

(24:36):
a stud. I mean this kid was. Now
I will say that,
um, later in the
round on Sunday, um,
some of the putts were, you know, not his fault
at, not at all his fault. But, you know,
everybody collectively was having fun Sunday, if that makes

(24:57):
sense. But great
caddy loved the yuck it up, gave me
my numbers. Kind of confused me a little bit in terms of
like, you know, It'd be like 145
front and 152 to the
pin. So then he'd be like, I like a 60 shot and I'm
all, where the hell are we getting 60
from? 152. But okay, I'm here

(25:20):
for it. Let's do it. But your caddy was
a gem.

>> RB (25:24):
Oh, my caddy was a gem. Dude, I love that guy. We had a,
we had a great time, you know, it's hilarious. And
he, he lost my towel.
Mhm. On the first day. And I said, don't worry about this.
Like, they make them every day. I'll buy another $30 towels
and it's fine.
And um, got home last night,

(25:44):
took my clubs out of my travel bag. Today because I had to switch
putters out. Still betting already, but I had to switch putters. Sorry.
Playing through, boys, but, uh, just was not
comfortable. Was not putting well. First time with this putter.
So we got to put her on the shelf for a little bit. But I'm
like, dude, why are my clubs not going all the way down
back?

>> Jonathan (26:04):
Mhm.

>> RB (26:05):
Stick my, Stick my arm in the side. There's a little zipper on the
inside that gets into the. Dude, my freaking golf
towel was in there.

>> Jonathan (26:12):
No.

>> RB (26:13):
Yeah. So it was kind of cool. It was
a nice little find.

>> Jonathan (26:17):
Yeah, mine's gone.

>> RB (26:19):
Um, but yeah, my, my
caddy was, was fantastic. And, uh,
you know, it was cool, dude, all the caddies had some
Augusta stories, uh, that were
some we can't repeat and some we can. But,
um, more than likely everything. All the stories you heard about
Augusta are probably true. And, uh,

(26:41):
it's really cool to hear those stories and some stories from,
you know, the Bill Gates and the Donald Trumps that,
um, are
funny.

>> Jonathan (26:52):
Yeah. You know, like the, uh, caddies
having to take the, uh,
uh, IQ test. Like the
quarterbacks. True or false? I don't know. I'm just putting that
out there. True or false?

>> RB (27:03):
That's, that's a, um, m answer for
you. I know it's true. So we've had people
confirm that.

>> Jonathan (27:11):
And, uh, the beautiful thing about
Augusta that I've learned in terms of just learning about
it and never seeing it, other than walking it,
is that they don't care who you are.
No, there's no exceptions.

>> RB (27:26):
Uh, the other thing about Sage 2 that was so cool is that,
like, I was there for two rounds, dude, in October,
and I met a lot of the caddies, or not a lot of the
caddies, but, uh, I probably met seven, eight different caddies
because my group.

>> Jonathan (27:38):
Mhm.

>> RB (27:40):
I saw every one of them and every one of them came over and
said hello to me. You remember when we
first walked in, I'm on the range. I don't know if you
saw. I was talking to different caddies and it's just,
it's so cool to show up and they
want to talk or they want to hang out or they want to catch up or whatever.
So again, attention to detail in

(28:00):
life.

>> Jonathan (28:00):
Exactly.

>> RB (28:01):
Get you off. It gets you a long way. So,
um, but you are likable, dude.
Yeah.

>> Jonathan (28:07):
Like, you mosey up to people, you roll in, you look like you're ready
to go walk into the jewelry store, but you're on the
golf course, you got fresh J's on Tennis, sunglasses, you
got a cigar. And then you're like, that's my
second one already of the day. It's not even noon. The guys
start talking about the shoes, you start talking about the shoes, you drop, you
know, hey, you know, Gentry. Gentry comes up and

(28:27):
then it's just like these guys remember you.

>> RB (28:29):
Well, I'll tell you this much. The first day
I did, or no, the second day when I was playing with you, I didn't tell you,
but I forgot. I Zen in and I started smoking a
cigar. Oh, boys. I was feeling a little
woozy out there, Zinn.
So, um. But okay, played our first
round, we had a little rain delay. It was good. We got

(28:51):
fifth. I got 15 holes and you got 15 and a half
holes in. And then we headed back to the
cottage.

>> Jonathan (28:58):
Mhm.

>> RB (28:58):
And um, got ready.

>> Jonathan (29:01):
What was. You've played, you've been there twice.
M. What time was your favorite? Or
are they two separate experiences?

>> RB (29:08):
Two separate experiences.

>> Jonathan (29:10):
Because obviously you had a phenomenal time in October.

>> RB (29:13):
Yeah, it was. It's just two separate experiences. You can't. I
think it's a, It's a different, It's a different
enjoyable experience every time you go there.

>> Jonathan (29:22):
Yeah.

>> RB (29:22):
Just because again, you get a different caddy,
you're having a good old time. Right. Your caddy was perfect for
you.

>> Jonathan (29:30):
Uh, he was in the mix.

>> RB (29:33):
Yeah, he was in the mix. We, um, got to meet
one of Ray Fulcher's high school, uh,
classmates, which was hilarious.
Um, so Cody, great
guy, but. Yeah, it's different.
It was different. But this time it was different because I had friends
that, like, not that I didn't have friends the first time, but these are like

(29:53):
my closest friends. And
we're here at this incredible place that
a lot of people would kill to be at. And we're just roaming the
fairways, yucking it up, drinking beers, drinking
frozen, uh, transfusions, which
are incredible.

>> Jonathan (30:10):
Deadly. Dude, I don't know what I was thinking
on Sunday when you asked me if I wanted a frozen,
um, transfusion. I thought you said corona,
but you came over with this frozen transfusion. And
I had a couple sips of it. It was straight alcohol. And
if you recall, that's when I blew
my tee shot right into the woods on eight

(30:32):
and chunked a wedge out
and proceeded to chunk an eight iron up the hill and
then chunk a wedge out of the bunker and make a nice double
pogie. And that's when I looked at my boy and I said,
hey, hey, bud, I can't drink this
anymore. Number one, it's too sweet, it's
sticky. It's like I'm drinking Kool Aid, which I can't.
And number two, I cannot um, drink this type of

(30:54):
alcohol now, let alone ever. So
can you throw it away for me? And he's like, huh,
we ain't throwing it away, but we'll take it. I said, alright boys,
well there you go, take it.

>> RB (31:06):
So we moved it on down to um,
the event, uh, Saturday night in
Augusta. And um, we had a good old
time. I'll tell you what boys, you might want to share the photo
of the amount of beers that our
table drank. We had um, six of us.
Fuge caddy. Great dude.

(31:27):
Um, that's Tyler Reeves, like personal caddy.
And then um, two other caddies there
as well. So we had a good old time. We got in the
mix with the uh, silent auction. I
didn't um, but we
had some people get in the mix and they actually
thought this was a Sean Combs
boot.

>> Jonathan (31:48):
Show him the boot.

>> RB (31:49):
But it is a Luke Combs boot
he wore and he signed uh, that
we won an auction and. Well we
didn't. Taylor um, did. And
um, this is the traveling boot. This is what
we're going to be playing for on all these golf
trips going forward. Uh, there might be some

(32:09):
beers drink out of here.
Uh, it will make an appearance at the Chasing Birdies two man.
Never know, we might leave it on a tee box, have some beers, a
cooler of beer and you gotta do a boot chug out of
it. Um, but this is gonna
be traveling with us so.

>> Jonathan (32:26):
Or you gotta put it on and hit a shot with it
on.

>> RB (32:30):
Yeah. No matter your foot size.

>> Jonathan (32:32):
Yeah. And leave your other golf shoe on and put the boot on
shot.

>> RB (32:35):
Um, but you can see right there it's signed Luke
Combs. Um, and
uh, yeah man, the
uh.

>> Jonathan (32:44):
Head, if that could somehow turn, which
it can't, but that'd be a sick way to make a head
cover if you could. But the boost
is gonna get passed around. We gotta, we
gotta figure out its place in our life. And I think
you're on the right, right track with it.

>> RB (33:01):
I think you're on the right track. Yeah. So we, we threw that thing in
the travel bag, we got it back home safely. And uh, like
I said, I'll, I'll keep it in a safe
spot until the chasing. Chasing birdies too man. At
Nemacolan here in about which
it's about two months away, dude. And I feel like I haven't done anything for
it.

>> Jonathan (33:19):
So, yeah, well, I'm here to help if you need
it. Saturday night was wild, though. I mean, that event
was phenomenal, and I was happy to be a part of
it and see everything. And naturally, you know, it was quite
entertaining as well. But,
um, I really thought you were going to
want to peg it up Saturday night. We got back at about midnight. We
had an hour to go out, and, uh. Well, let

(33:41):
me back up. Great call ordering the pizzas. You and
Vince ordered the pizzas?

>> RB (33:46):
Well, Vince and I were, like, going back and forth. He wanted,
I don't know, some pizza place. I want a Papa John's.
We let the. We let our. Our driver from Sage
settle the debate, and, um, he
naturally picked the one that Vince liked. And
so Vinnie ordered up three
XLs, and, um, I rode out

(34:08):
with a golf cart out to the gate,
um, with oats and, uh,
a little Toyota Corolla from 1997
pulled in. I opened. We opened the gates for
them. They came in, hand us the pizzas, hand Mike the
pizzas.
They asked if they can go down and turn around. Mike said, nope, just.
Just, uh, turn around right here.

>> Jonathan (34:27):
Turn around right here, bud.

>> RB (34:29):
So they did that, and they were out the door. We brought the pizzas
back. Everyone had some pizza. It was great.
Um, you and Taylor went down to the par three
course. I wasn't gonna do any of it
because I was indulging. And, uh, I
said, you know what? I'm here one more night. I'm gonna get up and go.
I followed Vince out the door. It started pouring, and

(34:51):
I came right. Yeah, I walked outside with
Vince, and, uh.

>> Jonathan (34:55):
Is that thunder?

>> RB (34:56):
It was pouring. And, um. So I. I
turned right back around and,
uh, shut my eyes a little bit.

>> Jonathan (35:04):
Well, I thought that pizza was Papa John's, but
it was Marcos, which I never had before. I thought the. I thought the
crust was a little doughy, because I get.

>> RB (35:12):
I. I did not like that crust.

>> Jonathan (35:13):
No, No. I didn't even eat the crust.

>> RB (35:15):
I got to the crust and threw it away.

>> Jonathan (35:16):
Yeah. But, um.
Yeah, TK's all it. Let's go to the part three. What the hell?
So I said, let's go. So take a couple bags,
take a little cart down, and
tee off on the first hole.

>> RB (35:30):
And that's real quick. That's the thing, too there.
That's really cool. You don't have your
own cart. It's. If there's a cart there, just take the cart and go.

>> Jonathan (35:38):
Just take it.

>> RB (35:39):
Take it to the clubhouse, take it to the par three, take it to
the bar, take it to the range, whatever you want. So there's, like, carts
everywhere.

>> Jonathan (35:45):
Yeah.

>> RB (35:46):
So when you take the cart, you just get on par three, you might get
done, your cart might be gone. That's why you really can't leave anything in
those. Uh, because somebody might just take it because there's one
available. Um, so you guys mosey on down
there.

>> Jonathan (35:58):
And it started pouring on the first hole. It just
starts shitting rain. And
I have a T shirt on and a pair of,
like, jeans and. And some Jordans.
And Jordans, not, uh, Jord's Jordans.
So we're walking, and
I'm like, hey. And then it also starts thundering,

(36:19):
and there's a couple cracks of lightning, and I'm like
this. But I said, hey, man,
um, you want to keep playing or you want to go
in? And he's all, let's keep playing. We're already wet. So I was
like, that's a great idea. All right,
second hole. I can't even.
I can't even. Like, I'm dripping

(36:40):
wet. And I hit a little 54 in there
and made the putt. And we were both laughing because I was like, that's a first
birdie I made all day.

>> RB (36:49):
One birdie at Sage Valley. And it was on the par three course.

>> Jonathan (36:51):
Yeah. And, uh, got a picture of that. And then so
we proceeded to play another hole.
And then from there, it was like, now
it was. It was a little bit much because, like,
I don't have underwear on number one. So, like, I'm wet everywhere.
That's funny. Um, my hands are wet.
My frickin hair, which was great

(37:14):
because I hadn't washed my hair, so that kind of
worked, but I was just wet. And it
was. It was a phenomenal memory. Again, a
memory. That's what it's about.

>> RB (37:24):
Well, and, you know, I
knew that you came home and our
boy TK Woke up in the morning,
saw his door was open, so I popped my head in, and everything was
gone. And I walk out to the lobby of the, uh,
house, and these were sitting
there.

>> Jonathan (37:43):
It was like Christmas morning.

>> RB (37:44):
Yeah.

>> Jonathan (37:44):
What are those?

>> RB (37:46):
So, chasing birdies, he. He gave me some foot
joys, and he took a Sharpie to these bad
boys. And, um, I'm going to
wear these potentially at every round in Emicolon, because
he did a good job on him. Chasing birdies on it. The
Masters, um, there's a word that I'm not going to say, but the master
stair case champion, 2025. I

(38:07):
took him down again. So I'm 20 against the
old boy. Um, but his game was rounding
out, and, um,
that was an incredible weekend.

>> Jonathan (38:17):
So the thing I love about TK Is the fact that he's, like.
He loves the game.

>> RB (38:22):
Yeah.

>> Jonathan (38:22):
I mean, my man loves it. And
if you want to play more golf, that's not an issue.
You want to go hit some putts at night? Not an issue.
And what a better place than Sage Valley to do it.

>> RB (38:34):
Yeah, exactly. So that was a memorable trip. I'm glad you
made it. And you got another golf trip coming
up.

>> Jonathan (38:41):
Uh, yeah, I do.

>> RB (38:43):
And.

>> Jonathan (38:43):
Oh, yeah. Thanks. Thank you.

>> RB (38:45):
You got it through the first round of qualifying. Probably felt like
a monkey off the bat. You probably felt like Rory getting
monkey back. Yeah. And you're back at the
stadium last weekend in May. Uh, Ian
Patrick Archer probably already had you get her house so
that he can sleep on the couch or something. But
he'll make all the tea times for you.

>> Jonathan (39:04):
Yeah. Yeah, he will. He already texted me that, which is great,
so I hope he gets in, too, which he should. But, no,
it was. It was just good to put. Put together a round
that. You know, a complete round. I mean, I. I
still had a four putt in there, but, um, outside of that shooting
73, um, it felt good.
And I. You know, whenever I took that

(39:24):
tripod out at Sage Valley, and I was videotaping your
swing, my swing, and Colby's swing,
I did it for a reason. Not only to send to you guys
your swings, but for me, I did it for a reason, because
I'm like. I was hitting the ball so bad, and
that shot, I did exactly what I had been
doing all day. And it's. It's like. I mean, I hit

(39:44):
that ball straight right high into the trees,
and it fell down 150 yards
away. So my. My right elbow
was getting so stuck. I watched that
video a hundred times. I'm not kidding you, on the plane.
And I compared it to other videos of my swing, and
that's what happens sometimes. You. You know, you make that

(40:05):
turn, and whenever you're coming down, that
right elbow is getting stuck behind, and you're
turning left. So the only thing that's gonna happen is you're
gonna. You're gonna swipe it off the toe
more than likely, or you're gonna keep coming up
under and just hit major high block. Like, just.
So today, my thought was, um. And

(40:25):
my thought still is. Is like, hey, just try to keep. Feel like that
elbows out in front of you, you know? And that's What I did whenever I played
the other day at, uh, Bridgeport Country Club. Phenomenal.

>> RB (40:33):
Good. Um, you're back.

>> Jonathan (40:35):
12 hours I was at. I was at Sage valley,
and then 12 hours later, I was pegging it at Bridgeport Country Club.
What a. What a phenomenal feat. And
boom. So thanks.
I appreciate it. I felt like Scotty Scheffler
with his massive win that past weekend. Yeah, well,
and I tell you what, the next episode we got,

(40:55):
uh, it's PGA Championship week.

>> RB (40:58):
Mhm. Yeah.

>> Jonathan (40:59):
Which will be.

>> RB (41:00):
We'll get into that. We got a special guest. And,
um, we'll. We'll let you guys
know about that one as we get closer to that.
I'll get a surprise for you.

>> Jonathan (41:10):
All right, bud.

>> RB (41:11):
So let's go.

>> Jonathan (41:13):
Well, it sounds like it's. It's bedtime for you. And it
sounds like, uh, it's raining, it's pouring.
Um, and so,
um, you know, I'm.

>> RB (41:23):
Gonna go hit shots in the rain like TK Would do.

>> Jonathan (41:26):
Yeah, go do it. Get that wedge work going. And
that's that.

>> RB (41:29):
