There has been so much going onin our life right now that I
actually, after this podcast isrecorded, have two podcasts to
edit because, well, we have beenso busy, but it is so exciting,

(01:18):
so exciting that I cannot waitto talk about it And we're going
to talk about it.
We're going to talk about it,but we're not going to talk
about it right now.
We're going to talk about alittle bit of banter right.

Angie (01:31):
That's right.

Chris (01:32):
All right.
So, banter schmianter, what arewe doing?
What are we talking about, angie, come on, come on, high
energy.

Angie (01:39):
I don't know You got this .
look on your face like you wantto jump out of your seat and I
have a feeling like somethingyou want to say.

Chris (01:45):
No, no, no, You're just like.
this is high energy baby.

Angie (01:51):
You look like that guy who preps the audience.
Stand up and clap and stufflike that.

Chris (01:56):
That's what I'm doing.
That's what I'm doing.
I'm getting the meeple chaserpumped.

Angie (02:00):
Oh okay, You're getting that pumped.
I'm just looking at you likeyou're nuts.

Chris (02:05):
Well, I am, but that's okay.
I am getting everybody pumpedfor our episode.
What did we call this episode?

Angie (02:15):
Feeding.

Chris (02:16):
Feeding.
This is the feeding episode.

Angie (02:19):
Well, I want to say food.
How about edible?
No, no.
No How about digestibles No.

Chris (02:29):
No, how about feed?

Angie (02:31):
Feed Okay.

Chris (02:32):
This is the Chasing Meeple's feeding episode.
Feeding episode.
It'll all make sense, ladiesand gentlemen, you'll make,
you'll do something.

Angie (02:45):
I trust you.

Chris (02:47):
Oh well, even I don't know if I'm able to make
something cool out of the wordfeeding, we could do food.
No, we could do food.
No, we're locked in feeding.

Angie (03:04):
Sustenance?
I don't know.
We could think of somethingelse.

Chris (03:08):
The feeding.

Angie (03:10):
The feeding.
It sounds like a horror movie.

Chris (03:13):
It does.
That's why I'm doing it.
The feeding All right, so wehave some pretty cool stuff to
talk about.
In the last episode we didmention that we had a couple
board game publishers send ustheir prototypes.
One of them was Earno's Falling.
We got a chance to play thatgame.
I think we talked a little bitabout it so I don't want to

(03:36):
spend too much time on it.
We did send it off to anotherperson to check out and I hope
they enjoy it about as much aswe did.
It was fun.
I definitely think afterplaying it it does shine at two
players.

Angie (03:51):
I think so.
I think it's a head-to-head twoplayer battle.
I can't really see it playingany other way.

Announcer Dude (03:58):
Yeah.

Chris (03:59):
The other excitement is once again like we mentioned in
the last episode.
Dinky Games did reach out to usand they wanted to know if we
were willing to check out a newprototype for a game that
they're going to be bringing toKickstarter soon, and this one
is different than the last gamethat they kickstarted.

(04:21):
The last game had a Regencytheme, so we're talking Pride
and Prejudice, all that goodstuff.
Can't think of it?
Jane Austen novel stuff.
Bridgerton Yeah that's theother one, and that game was
quite a fun game to play.

(04:42):
Yeah, we talked about that on aprevious episode And if you go
to our YouTube channel, you willbe able to check out the video
that we did about that game.
But we are not talking aboutthe season.
We are talking about theirnewest creation, Raccoon
Restaurant.
So describe Raccoon Restaurantfor the Meeple Chasers.

Angie (05:04):
Oh, I can describe Raccoon Restaurant really well.
You want me to do it.

Chris (05:09):
Yeah.

Angie (05:10):
Audible teacher.
How to play the game.

Chris (05:12):
Yeah.

Angie (05:13):
Here we are.
The board is set up to play ourgame.
Every person gets a playerboard and a chef.
Each chef has a unique ability.
They're very interesting.
One chef has the ability toYou're laughing.

Chris (05:33):
I'm laughing because this What are you laughing?
You finally get to.

Angie (05:40):
One chef has the ability to fill up their bowls with
three items instead of two.
Another chef has the ability tocontinue gathering food much
past the timer.
One chef has the ability tofeed the pig one less item And
the other chef has the abilityto.
When they get cards, they getto get six cards instead of five

(06:03):
, And I'll tell you what thatreally means.

Chris (06:06):
What does that mean?

Angie (06:06):
That's going to mean because there are three
dumpsters.
Everything in this game iscleverly named And there are
three dumpsters.
There are a green one, a blueone and a yellow one, and they
have all matching color chips tothem, and each dumpster has
unique combination ofingredients.
And the first thing you'regoing to do is the gather phase

(06:30):
And you are going to set a 30second timer.
Each player is going to reachinto two of the three dumpsters,
turning over chips, one at atime.
They're going to take the foodstuff and they're going to place
it into a bowl on theirfoodstance.

Chris (06:46):
You're doing wonderful.
You're doing better than theguy who narrated the video.
I know what you're doing here.

Angie (06:52):
Every person can put two of the same ingredient into a
bowl, but they can never putmore than those two ingredients
on the entire board.

Chris (07:03):
That is what I forgot during the rules teach, but
that's fine.
Right now, the Meeple Chasersget to this, ladies and
gentlemen.
ladies and gentlemen, i got it.

Angie (07:17):
It's only the gather phase, Chris.

Chris (07:18):
We still have two other phases, Yeah absolutely, but you
know, ok, all right, to ourlisteners out there, the look on
her face right now is a look of.
I should have been doing theone doing the voiceover during
the rules.
Teach you, you.
I'm going to show you right now.
I'm going to show you right now, chris, i can tell that is what

(07:43):
you're doing.
You are doing it.
This is.

Announcer Dude (07:49):
She's laughing because she's she's.

Chris (07:51):
She's in about two seconds.
She's going to fall off herchair.

Angie (07:54):
Job telling all the people.
People Chasers game.

Chris (07:59):
Our measles the measles the measles chasers, chasers.
No, OK, sorry, I did not meanto cut you off, Go on.

Angie (08:11):
All right, then we're going to go into the feed phase.
In the next phase of the game, each player gets five cards.
Unless you are the green chef,he gets six, and then we'll
discard one of those cards.
You're going to take your turns.
You're going to lay out yourfood chips on each of the cards.

(08:33):
You're going to try to feed asmany cards as possible Little
animals.
They all have little clevernames.
Each one is worth a differentamount of points, so you want to
feed the ones that have themost points, obviously, first.
So the way you play is you layyour cards out and then you play
your, and that's kind of theway you play all your type of

(08:55):
resource management type ofgames.
I've always noticed that thatyou're laying, and I kind of
picked that up on some of thegames, but you lay your
resources aside on your cardsand you kind of maybe hold them
off the side and stuff like that.
So with this game I know you'relaying down your cards, you're
putting the food that you needon them, and then here's your
tip If there's another cardthere that you'd rather use the

(09:19):
hot dog on, you can always takeit off there and put it on a
different card.

Chris (09:22):
Yep, that's, that's what I was doing.

Angie (09:23):
That's what you do, anyway.
When you're done feeding theanimals that you can't feed,
play proceeds to the left andyou are going to pass your cards
to the person on your left.
You are now mimicking the ideaif your rat did not get fed in
your rush on, it's going to gohome hungry and he is going to
move on to that rush drawn onthe left to see if they can get

(09:45):
fed there.
Play is going to proceed likethat around the table until all
the animals have been fed thatwould be fed, and then you're
set the ones aside that you havefed.
You're going to go to thecleanup phase and this is where
you're going to return all thechip back into the dumpsters.
You can clean off any on yourplayer board that you wish to.

(10:07):
You do not have to, you cankeep those, and after five
rounds of play like this, everybody will total up their
points and the player with thehighest score is going to win.
And that is how you playraccoon rush draw.

Chris (10:21):
And you know that was very good.
That was very good And OK.
So when we're talking abouttips, i got a tip for everybody
out there.
Here is my strategy The greenraccoon chef has the ability to
draw six cards, as opposed tothe five customer cards that you
normally get.
I like the green chef because, well, greens my favorite color.

(10:46):
Hence I am the green meable.
But I digress.
Here's a tip for you If you'rethe green raccoon, take a look
at a person at the table.
Figure out what their power is.
So example Angie was the yellowchef.
Angie was that power on.
The yellow chef has the abilityto pay one less resource for a

(11:09):
pig card, all right.
So the pig cards are usuallysome per the valuable cards.
Now the most valuable customersare the bears.

Angie (11:19):
Bears, yep Bears, But the pigs they're right up.
Well, i think they're fourpointer.
Yeah Yeah, bears are six.

Chris (11:25):
Bears are six, pigs are four or five, something like
that.
Yep, so so I would, if Icouldn't fulfill a pig.
That was the card I discarded.
No pig card for Angie, and Iwould look at her bowls too.
I was, i was, like it was, likeit was Johnny.
I was, i was really doing that.

Angie (11:47):
You're like trying to medigate on that raccoon rush.
God, in this little lightweight family game, filler game,
one that eight year olds couldplay, you're trying to medigate.
Oh my God, this doesn'tsurprise me at all, does not
surprise me.

Chris (12:07):
I don't like to lose.
We've already covered this.
We've already established thatyou don't like.
I don't like to lose.

Angie (12:14):
Even a prototype game you're not going to lose to me.

Chris (12:17):
Because I lose too much.

Angie (12:19):
Actually.
No, your win percentage hasgone up.
Well, it was last year Twotwenty two thousand twenty two.
You suck, But you're gettingbetter.
You're getting better.
Thanks, I think if you look atyour app you'll find out.
Yes, Chris does recordeverything in a special app And
he's got a pie chart and heknows when I am beating him.

Chris (12:42):
All good gamers should be doing it.
It is the BG stats, the boardgame stats app, available on
Android and Apple iOS I'm prettysure it's on iOS, but anyway,
this game, this, this thing, ispretty awesome.
So, yes, everything is recorded.

Angie (13:03):
Check out.
What do we have?

Chris (13:05):
Well let me take a look here For the year so far.
Twenty twenty three.
I have a sixty three percentwin percentage.
You've gone up.
Yeah, you have a thirty sixpercent win percentage.
You went down.
No kidding year.

(13:30):
I'm gonna curse myself.
2023, the year of Chris, let'ssee.
2022 you had a 50% winpercentage, i had a 49%.
2021 I had a 50%, you had a 45and then, sense, that's not 100.

(13:52):
Yeah, it is not 100, you arecorrect and in the year of Angie
2020, there's a story behindthat one.
Everybody You actually did haveyou beaten by 1%, 53% win

(14:14):
percentage over my 53, 54.
You had 54 and I have 53.

Angie (14:18):
That's over a hundred.

Chris (14:20):
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, it's a win percentage Oh.

Angie (14:23):
Oh, okay.

Chris (14:24):
So that means out of okay 54% of the time that we played.

Angie (14:31):
You won All right.

Chris (14:35):
Capiche.

Angie (14:39):
Huh.

Chris (14:40):
Capiche okay, get it.
No, is now what you do.
You look up each?

Angie (14:50):
I don't know.

Chris (14:51):
Oh, come on, you were here like looking at me like I
was nuts, when I was like Whatis Shamil and what is a shama's
and you've never heard a capiche.

Angie (15:02):
Well, first you, it was.
Such a whisper is almost likean ASMR and I'm thinking, was
that like a rat noise?
Because we were just talkingabout raccoon restaurant and
they have like rats and I'mthinking, what is this little?

Chris (15:18):
I randomly make rat noises.

Angie (15:24):
I had no idea what you're doing and you're like Capiche.

Chris (15:28):
Yes, I even have a hand thing going fish.

Angie (15:30):
Don't you know a capiche?
Do you know what capiche means?
do you actually know whatcapiche means?

Chris (15:37):
you get it, you understand.

Angie (15:40):
Do you understand?

Chris (15:42):
do you understand?

Angie (15:43):
Yeah, you understand.

Chris (15:47):
Told you Capiche, also known as The raccoon noise or
rat noise.
All right, so we're.
We're good enough to have ithere.

Angie (16:02):
No, we never, never, never, all right so?

Chris (16:06):
Yeah, so that was excellent.
You know I enjoyed the game.
When we first played it, i Wasshocked at how light it was
right like I Don't know how.
Not shocked, i guess maybe Youweren't expecting it, wasn't
expecting it, right.

Angie (16:28):
But the more we played it , the more it grew on me right.

Chris (16:30):
So Thinking about.
That's a quick filler game.
It's a good, you know good gameto get people together.
Just throw it on the table.

Angie (16:44):
Non-gamers, family gathering, where you have not
gamers, and I think it would dobetter at a higher player count.
I think it would do better at ahigher player count most the
time we played it at two, yeah,we played with Alice, we did
play it three, but I'm thinkinga higher player count.
A family gathering, people youknow, just kind of the grabbing

(17:07):
in the Dumpster, diving.
Yeah, i could just kind of befun and silly and what food are
you grabbing and who You knowyou can make it.
You can make it lightheartedand entertaining.
I think the more people youplay with yeah, fun people.

Chris (17:20):
Yep.
So Definitely not for thosethat are looking for something
heavy.
But if somebody's looking forsomething to play with your kids
or some non-gamers and justhave a good party night, yeah, i
think that would be a good gameif I could offer up one.
One thing that I did not likeabout it, and Is the fact that

(17:43):
Maybe it's just me right, like,if you're gonna have a game that
You time, throw in a sand timer.
Yeah, throw in a sand timer.
Like, yes, everybody's got acell phone, but I think I Think
just going that effort, thatthat I think I think the sand
timer Flipping that everybody, even if, you know, everybody has

(18:04):
a cell phone and there are acertain generation of people.

Angie (18:07):
Even if they do, there's not a timer on them right you
know.
So, yeah, i think a timer It'sa time or would be a good idea,
because even if you're giving itto younger people, what if
you're gonna give it to it as agift to you know?
a 10 12 year old.
Yep now old, or something likethat.

Chris (18:25):
Oh, granted, most children have cell phones at
that age?
Yeah but, So I don't know.
I would just say the additionof a sand timer would have been
well, i think so too, i think sotoo again, prototype copy.
Prototype copy Might be added atthe end of the Kickstarter,
yeah, or at some point in timeduring the process.

(18:47):
Who am I to say?
Just a guy who got a chance toplay the game.
So thank you to dinky games.
Thank you, let it, for lettingus try it.
So good stuff.
And we did record a Kickstarterpreview video and we, by the
time you listen to this, it'llprobably already be on our
YouTube channel, so you shouldcheck it out.

(19:08):
Okay, so now remember.
Remember last time we we had apodcast.
You do not like stuff thatChris finds interesting.
You promised me you were gonnahave a better title for What did
we play this week?

(19:29):
So what is it?

Angie (19:32):
I didn't oh.

Chris (19:35):
Oh, oh, it was on there.

Angie (19:38):
Go back and listen, trust me go back to listen when it's
in my one drive.

Chris (19:43):
You're in bright episode, honey.
I think you need to come upwith a better way of saying that
is what was played this week.

Angie (19:52):
I will come up with a new way to say it, the new segment
name, if you.

Chris (20:04):
Just imagine, yes, why I know that cuz I listen to it.

Angie (20:10):
I said yeah, absolutely, absolutely, i bet, I bet okay,
fine, what did we play?

Chris (20:17):
What did we play Angie?

Angie (20:19):
We've played a lot of games.

Chris (20:20):
We did it surprisingly.
Yeah, we did play.

Angie (20:23):
We're at the nursery, so we play games that we don't own.
My castle party and boop, andthen we play a game called
Caesar, which we don't care foror I don't care for yeah, no,
not impressed with it.

Chris (20:40):
So like for those that, okay, so let's.

Angie (20:42):
I don't know, even know who makes it.

Chris (20:44):
So the nursery and you know, i went to the nursery.
The nursery if you've listenedto us for a while, the nursery
is a really awesome board gamecafe Located in Sturgeon Bay,
wisconsin.
If you are ever there, check itout It is.
It's fabulous.
It is part of the gnome games,i guess, store.

(21:06):
It's a gnome game store familyof stores.
Yeah, good stuff.
So, yeah, anyway, back toCaesar.
Oh, so there's two games.
Paolo more is the designer ofthat and I'm a big fan of
libertalia and I'm thinking, okay, cool, cool.
I don't know if Paolo more, ihad something to do with.

(21:28):
What is the other game likethat?
So see, there was Caesar andthen there was like Blitzkrieg,
blitzkrieg, you could do WorldWar two in like 20 minutes Yeah,
the phrase for that.
And then Caesar came out and itis you know, conquer Rome,
basically, or seize Rome in 20minutes.

Angie (21:46):
Oh, is that like Blitzkrieg?

Chris (21:49):
Yeah, oh yeah, i never bought it, Yeah, so.

Angie (21:53):
I don't like airy control though, so there was.
I wasn't really Going to likethis because I don't like so it
is.
I don't like airy control, andthat's what it is.
It's airy control, mm-hmm, itwasn't When there's airy control

(22:14):
.
Sometimes airy control slippedinto a game.

Chris (22:17):
Mm-hmm I.

Angie (22:19):
Can think that's when I dislike it the most.
This I knew what it was aircontrol going in and that's a
Little bit like that badly.
And when you thought I was notgonna like Dice-thrown Because I
don't like that reallyhead-to-head battling type of
thing.
But I knew going in that thatis what dice-thrown was going to

(22:42):
be.
It wasn't a surprise, it wasn'ta mechanic.
That is what the game is.
You may consider deck building.
It is.
That is what it is is ahead-to-head battle.
So going into it I knew what itwas going to be.
This I realized it was going tobe airy control and And when I
say slipping it into, there is agame I love very much, who I

(23:05):
believe it is slipped in there.
It is what it is what came isthat.
And this winter.

Chris (23:15):
Oh yeah, just let it go already.

Angie (23:18):
I will.
It's gone, it's gone, it's gone.

Chris (23:21):
We know you don't like.

Angie (23:25):
It's gone and only the reason why it's gone is because
I did hear Stan Kronanski whenhe was doing that live play
through with Ellen and RandyKirby.
Somebody had asked him in thechat if, if the mechanism works
against the theme, which winsout, and he says mechanism

(23:48):
always wins.
So I thought that was a goodanswer.

Chris (23:52):
Very good answer.

Angie (23:53):
I thought that was a good answer because my issue with
that area control is it didn'twork with the theme.
I'm saying Paleo Americans arenot going to have people squat
on their backyard.
That was my issue.
Obviously, he went with themechanism of the area control
rather than Paleo Americans notletting people squat on their

(24:14):
back.
Understandable, awesome.
I appreciate it.
I think highly of him.

Chris (24:20):
Good Stan is pretty awesome.
For those of you that want tohear more about Angie's love of
that mechanism, you can checkout our Endless Winter Review
episode.
So anyway, yes, so notimpressed with Caesar, not

(24:42):
impressed with Caesar.
It's actually like Caesar.
There's like a, there's like asubtitle to the game.
There's many different gamescalled Caesar.
This is Caesar.
Like Caesar Roman 20 minutes orsomething like that.

Angie (24:55):
But we did get Shelfie.
That is what we brought home.
Usually we go there, we do comehome with a lot more.

Chris (25:02):
Yeah, we got my.

Angie (25:02):
Shelfie.
We got my Shelfie, yep.
What did I say?

Chris (25:06):
Shelfie.

Angie (25:07):
Oh, did I?
Yeah, we got my Shelfie, whichI've been looking at, been
really, really wanting for along time.
We got that and got a chance toplay it, and I'm really happy
with it.
There is a question aboutscoring and I did pose that
question to somebody that had apicture on Instagram.

(25:28):
Did you read that?
No, about the scoring, and theybelieve as you do.
Thank, you.
That you score every group andnot just your largest group.
Thank, you.
Her color.
No, i'm going to say that isthe way it's written.

Chris (25:44):
And that's the way you score it.

Angie (25:45):
In my mind it should be the largest contiguous group per
color.
But I'm going to say that PhilWalker-Harty knew better.
If he wanted it that way, hewould have wrote the rules that
way.

Chris (25:59):
That is true.

Angie (26:01):
I will yield.
Thank you, phil Walker-Harty,phil Walker-Harty All right.

Chris (26:07):
So okay, Phil Phil.

Angie (26:11):
If you're listening, if you're listening.

Chris (26:14):
What's the proper way to score?
Is Chris right or is Angieright?
You score as written in therule book.
That's what I'm going to say.
So, phil, reach out to us, manchasingmeplesatyahoocom, leave a
comment on our YouTube channel.
Whatever you got to do, justlet us know Angie has not slept

(26:38):
a minute.
No, i'm just kidding.

Angie (26:40):
I am asking random people on Instagram when they show
pictures of it.
Oh, by the way, when you scorethat, how do you score for each
teal group, or just That game is.

Chris (26:54):
It's fine.
It's fine.
I like the connect four-ishfeel of dropping the tokens.
I want to get a couple moreplays in before I make my final
judgment on the game.
At this point it's fine.

Angie (27:15):
I like it.
I like the lighthearted breakwe had.
I had been playing a lot ofheavy year old type games,
serious games, and so I like thelittle break, the little, you
know the cutesy a little bitlighter Wait, fun theme maybe,

(27:39):
if you want to call it that.
So that's why I wanted to playit that day.

Chris (27:45):
No, it's good.
You know, it's always good toplay a light game.

Angie (27:49):
Yes, it is okay.

Chris (27:51):
It is okay, yeah, so you did mention that we played boop.

Angie (27:56):
Play boop.

Chris (27:58):
Again, another game that I'm just going to say is fine.
It wasn't anything amazing, itwas another.
I liked the.
I guess I liked the boopingmechanic.
I thought that was reallyinteresting.
The booping mechanic.

Angie (28:17):
I like the bed.

Chris (28:21):
Won that one.

Angie (28:23):
You did.

Chris (28:24):
Yes, that's right, i did.
Oh my gosh.

Angie (28:29):
I can't believe you set me up for that All because I
would have taught that gamebetter.

Announcer Dude (28:37):
Oh my gosh.

Angie (28:38):
You are so envious I can see it in your face.

Chris (28:42):
I am.

Angie (28:43):
Okay.

Chris (28:44):
No, it is it was interesting, not a game I would
buy.
No Good game to play.

Angie (28:54):
Yeah, That's the nice thing about a game library.
And you know, here's theinteresting thing.
There were the ladies sittingat the other table and they kept
asking the guy I don't knowwhat game they were playing.
They were playing.
It was like I'm not sure It wasplastic, and they kept talking
Oh, they want that game.
Oh yeah.
Two of those games are askingthe fella if they could find out

(29:16):
if they could buy it.
And he came back.
I don't know if you heard himtell them The game's out of
print.
Well, it's not.
it wasn't a game they had thatthey sold.
They gave it to them for thelibrary, and that made me think.

Chris (29:32):
I already told you we should do that.

Angie (29:33):
No, but I never thought if they would.
You know, i'm assuming the gamelibrary gets a lot of things
that they put maybe Dutton Dingsin there.
They get games from publishersDo they need it.
You know their shelves arepretty full the way they are,
you know.

Chris (29:50):
Call me crazy.

Angie (29:51):
Crazy.

Chris (29:52):
Yeah, but if I had a board game cafe like this is not
a knock on their lendinglibrary at all or they're
staying in play library.
I do feel like if you have itin your stay in play library,
you got to have it on the shelf, you got to have it to buy Yeah.

Angie (30:15):
You know that surprised me.
That surprised me.
You know they.
It's there to entertain thepeople while they're eating.
You know, most lendinglibraries don't have a store.
The nursery is really different.
Yeah, that it is.
Stay in play.
You are at a board game cafewith a store.

(30:35):
A lot of board game cafes are.
They charge you $20 an hour tosit at the table and some guy is
going to make you a rotisseriehot dog or an oven pizza.
You know, maybe he could throwa panini on the grill.
I'm not sure.
But you don't really expectquite that much and you
certainly don't expect a store.

(30:56):
I don't think I've ever seen aboard camp.
You know what?
Meepleville.
I think the very few timesyou've seen a board game cafe,
but they are very much.
Not sure he's very much cafe.
Yeah, some, like meeplevilleseems to be a lot of board game

(31:18):
library with some cafe and thena small store.
Nursery is big cafe, smalllibrary, nice size store.

Chris (31:36):
You know, i don't yeah, i don't know and we've never been
, you know, we've never been tomeet Boville.
We might be wrong, we just knowwhat we've seen on YouTube and
but I watched it because Iwatched him give a tour of it.

Angie (31:47):
Yeah, and maybe he's got a bigger cat bite.
Maybe, but there's just likesit down restaurant.
People are gonna come in justto eat sure, sure Yeah.
Breakfast.
They got it right.

Chris (32:02):
There is a formula that the notary has got, and they've
got it mastered.
Now, if we could just get thenotary to open up a store where
we live, that would be amazing.
I'll have you, if you arelistening.
Give us a call.
Well, we'll figure out a placefor you.
Yeah, okay, castle panic isthat?

(32:24):
no, it wasn't castle panic.

Angie (32:25):
No, castle party, castle party.

Chris (32:29):
Another game that I just thought was fine.

Angie (32:34):
It was a little flippin right something right.

Chris (32:37):
It was a flippin right.
most flippin rights kind ofhave that same, i Don't know.
Flip a card, make a shape.
Thought it was neat that eachperson got to add Yeah, you know
the type of monster that goesinto the shape, but for the most
part Not.

(32:59):
Uh, not another game that areby.

Angie (33:01):
I love Super mega lucky box and that's a pretty simple
flippin right.
Can't get any simpler than that.

Chris (33:07):
Yeah, again, phil, no harding something about that guy
, all right.
And then, speaking of heavyweight euros, what game did you
get a chance to check out?
Was it Sunday night, onMother's Day?

(33:29):
You got to play a game onMother's Day that you've been
looking for do legacy of you.
Say it again without rubbingpaper.

Angie (33:42):
I got to play the legacy of you.

Chris (33:45):
Like a save me legacy of you.

Angie (33:49):
Why you my Garfield games ?
Oh got it.
Yes, shem Phillips Hitted eyethe park.
This is so good, chris reallyit is good, it is easy in my top
solo game.

Chris (34:02):
No kidding.

Angie (34:03):
It is so good.
There's so many reasons why Ilike a.
They started you straight intothe campaign.
They net to not dumb it down, say here's a starter game.
No sir, do you straight intothe campaign.
It is like It is not like arolling right solo game.
It is up, it feels like aGarfield board game And it's

(34:32):
Gonna be easy.
It's resettable.
I don't have to do anythingfancy to keep everything in
order.
But it's got this awesomeInsert in the box where
everything sits.
You know each category sitsthat I need.
It's a matter of putting thingsout.
Putting the cards, taking thecards are the right slot

(34:54):
technically.
That insert.
I can keep all the tokens there.
I never have to move over.

Announcer Dude (34:59):
It's got a really good story.

Angie (35:01):
There's a lot to do.
You have to read it out.
To do, you have to really keepa balance.
It's not one of those zero typegames that you can do just one
thing or there's so much to do,but you You have to concentrate
on something.
You have to do everything.
You have to watch the flood, you have to make sure your
barbarians don't take you overand you have to manage How many

(35:22):
town folk you have in that deck.
So it's really you have toreally keep that balance.
You have to go after thosebarbarians because they will
overrun you very, very quickly.
I Can see it happening, but Iwas very good at that.
But the cards obviously, as yougo through the story, things
get more difficult and itshuffles more cards through and
stuff like that.

(35:42):
But it feels It just feels likea board game.
That doesn't make sense.
Sometimes Solo games and themaybe it's because I solo a lot
of rolling rights, but I feellike I'm getting a full Garfield
game.

(36:03):
Well, that's cool you know thefull experience.

Chris (36:05):
I'm assuming maybe you're .
This is me not seeing you playit or seeing you play.
Do you mean by the fact thatyou don't have to manage an AI
player?

Angie (36:13):
Yes, yes, and that might be the legacy version of it that
I don't have to And that, yes, that's a big thing too, because
you don't have to.
You are playing against thebarbarians.
I'm not playing against someInvisible opponent, and even
when you do have an AI, it'slike mimicking another chief.

(36:35):
But this is like this directCombat with the game.
You're battling the game, whichis very, very interesting.
A lot of times, a solo thing isit's against.
You have to me a score.
This is essentially you'rewinning or you're losing.
You're winning or you're losing, and You can win or lose seven

(36:57):
times.
There's a deck that you add acard in for a victory card, or
you add in a loser cardsomewhere that's going to be
shuffled into, it's gonnashuffle through, be a pile, and
that's even when you think Maybeyou're gonna get a benefit,
like when you've overcome partof the flood, you thinking, okay
, i did something really great, but you still get penalized for

(37:21):
it.
So it's Not that it'sunforgiving, but it doesn't, it
doesn't let up.
That makes sense, it's good.
I really really like it.
Easy, easy, easily, easily.
My favorite solo game.

Chris (37:38):
Very cool.

Angie (37:39):
It's really, it is really great.
Glad you got a chance to play itand I realized Sometimes why I
have issues with rule books isI'll be reading this rule and
I'll read the rule and I readthe rule.
I'm going what do they mean bythat?
and Then I don't read the nextline, which it explains what it
means by that.

(37:59):
Sometimes I get too caught upin reading this one line and
make you sure I understand therule without reading That.
It is explained, and I findthat in some of the Garfield
games they will explain it.
But I'm looking at this, goingwhat do you mean?
I don't know what this is.
I don't know what this is and Ineed to read further in the

(38:22):
rule block or even furtherfurther down the page.
There's some other game.
I did that too.
I Don't remember what it is.
It's like I read the rules Toofinely mm-hmm.
I think resurgence was probably.
It's probably resurgence, soit's being too thorough that it

(38:43):
was tripping me up.
Okay, i Know you have no ideawhat I mean.

Chris (38:49):
No, I have absolutely no idea what you're ranting or like
.
Like what tangent you went offon like you lost me after easily
my number one solo game.

Announcer Dude (39:00):
It's Time for the chasing meeple's quiz.
Will Chris make the meeplechasers proud by scoring max
points, or will he be serving upa fine vintage of wines?
Angie has got the controls onChris's dopamine drip, folks.
If he doesn't score high onthis quiz, she might just cut
him off.
Will Chris get his victory high, or will it be a dopamine

(39:21):
drought?

Angie (39:22):
was time.

Chris (39:24):
Alright, angie.
What is the theme of this quiz?
is it feeding?

Angie (39:32):
well, no, what it is not, but things do tie in all right
things do tie in and um I It'sall gonna tie in this whole show
It's gonna tie in wait, i can'twait, it's gonna tie in and it
is awesome.
Good, it is awesome, but rightnow I'm gonna give you There's

(39:56):
gonna be six games and I'm gonnatell you what we're gonna do,
chris.

Chris (39:59):
All right.

Angie (39:59):
I'm gonna list the components And I'm gonna set a
30 second timer.
Oh, you have 30 seconds to tellme what the game is.

Chris (40:08):
All right.

Angie (40:09):
All right, and there is one bonus question.
So what I say?
this is gonna be worth 15points, because each game is two
points plus the bonus questionis three points, so 15 points.
All right and I was gonna gowith five points each, but I
really think you're gonna getthese.
So Pressures on.

(40:30):
Okay, i won't start with thatone, because that one's kind of
not that I want to throw you asoftball or anything.

Chris (40:38):

Angie (40:39):
Yeah, I wouldn't.
I don't want to do that.
You gotta give me a good one tostart off.

Chris (40:43):
Okay, get that dopamine going.
You know how quickly I become.

Angie (40:47):
Ready?
Yes, one game board forreference cards for double-sided
property boards, 12double-sided expansion boards,

All right, let's go on to thenext one 10 meatballs, 27

18 cards with blocks andscoring conditions.
It's the way it's written yeah,it's.
Hard what penny tones.

(42:00):
This is the component 18 cardswith blocks and scoring

Tinder, tinder no block no 18car.

Chris (42:18):
Oh Wait, this won't count , but is it sprawlopolis?

dungeons pirates, okay.

Angie (44:40):

Angie (45:07):
There's a connection.
They're all Kickstarter's Oh.

Chris (45:14):
Oh, all right.

Angie (45:17):
Everything's working in.
See how it's all working in.

Chris (45:20):
Never would have gotten that Working in My mind is going
in different ways It's workingin See Raccoon restaurant.
Kickstarter.

Angie (45:29):
Yeah, i got it.
I got it going.
Now you understand why.
Our top five list of feedinggames Yeah, no, I don't.
Restaurant feed food.

Chris (45:47):
Seriously, I did not get it Music.

Announcer Dude (45:55):
Music, music.
Now that Angie has tied it alltogether, it's time to simmer in
the delightful aroma of our topfive board games, with a mouth
watering mix of food and feedingDead ready, because this is not
just any list, it's an epicbanquet of gaming goodness that
will be a feast for your ears.
Put on your stretchy pants, because we're serving up an all

(46:17):
you can eat buffet of games.

Chris (46:24):
Music, music, music, music Music.

Angie (46:41):
Music.

Chris (46:48):
Music, music.
Music 40 minutes And so nothaving the time to truly think
about it, she says to me, comeup with top five games that

(47:10):
involve feeding or food, and youcan be loose.
You lose, you don't have to beloose, i'm like, all right, well
, i'm going to get creative.
So, angie, what did you do tomake your top five?

Angie (47:25):
And after you, give you give up, i was very loose,
you're very loose.
I was very loose.
I didn't want to do games thatwe've talked about too much
before, so I was loose.
I was loose.
So I mean the word top five maybe kind of loose, but All right
Well there was one I didn'tactually write down, but yeah.

Chris (47:46):
Well, I was not very loose at all.
I was strict, and what I didwas I went on.

Angie (47:53):
I was, i was busy, busy.

Chris (47:56):
OK, so this is not my top five And this is going to be so
cheesy.

Angie (48:00):
But I don't care.

Chris (48:01):
Meeple or something typed in food in the advanced search
on BGG And this is the top fiveaccording to BGG.

Angie (48:13):
Oh, you cheated.

Chris (48:14):
Food games.
So who do you want to start?

Angie (48:19):
You can start.

Chris (48:22):
Number five.
All right, i'm going to sayyou're now, i played zero, but
there is one game that soundsreally cool And that game, and
the game that sounds really cool, is ranked 4,215 on the BGG

(48:51):
rankings.
And there I go Get the BGG.
Oh man, lauren, completelyruined my list.
Is Absolutely, you're all Allright is Consumption, food and
choices.
Now, a name like that doesn'tsound like it'd be a good game,

(49:15):
however, let me let me tell youthis.
So this game is a game whereyou blend.
It blends worker placement andresource management, and the
theme of it It was.
The game was actually designedby a Dietitian, i think, and
it's it.
It revolves around the theme offood and lifestyle.

(49:37):
So in this game, you navigatethe intricate world of food
choices and you balance yourdietary needs, physical
activities and personalpreferences over six rounds.
You you, basically you play therole of a character that has a
certain dietary preference, Andthen you that that dietary

(49:58):
preference guides your strategythroughout the game.
You shop for ingredients, youdine out, you complete your
recipes and you engage invarious activities.

Announcer Dude (50:06):
just like in real life, angie.

Chris (50:08):
And the game beautifully simulates the juggle between
eating, exercising and living abalanced life.
Now, at the end, you get ratedon how long you live.
No, no, on whether or notyou've basically stuck to your
diet of you know whatever, andyou gain and lose points based
on how well you adhere to thatpreference.

(50:28):
Now that game actually soundskind of neat And looking at it
you could think about it.
Think about this.

Angie (50:38):
Sounds like something Ben Green, wow, wow.

Chris (50:42):
Ben Greenfield.
Come on, ben Greenblatt, he isa gamer, i don't want you to.
I was listening to one of hispodcasts.
He was talking about how he wasplaying Fort He was shut up.

Angie (50:54):
Shut up, no way.
Yes, he is a gamer.

Chris (50:58):
He enjoys board games with his family.
So cut the guy some slack.

Angie (51:02):
There's some slack now he gets it.
Now I cut him some slack.

Chris (51:05):
All right, so anyway, um, i think about it, though I
would.
I'm seriously consideringtrying to find this game.
You could, you could make thisfun.
You could, you could makerecipes in the game and see how
they work in real life.
You could literally Do thatwith this game, the way it's

(51:27):
described.

Angie (51:30):
I don't think it's that.
I would do that.
I mean, i'd have fun playingthe vegan if somebody else is,
yeah, paleo person or something.
And they had to figure out howto eat with just eating, yeah.
Yeah, nothing, but you know, okay, kale.

Chris (51:44):
Right, you can live off.

Angie (51:45):
But there you go.

Chris (51:46):
That is.
That is the number five foodgame according to board game
geek.

Angie (51:54):
Yeah, mine is the Yawning Portal, well, that's good.
Yawning Portal has to do with.
It is in the D&D universe andyou are adventurers and you are
coming off a long trek andyou're hungry, unless you are.
Maybe you're scared to go onyour long adventure and you want
to get drunk first, but it isthe bar, the pub, the restaurant

(52:18):
that all the adventures areknown to go in the D&D universe,
is it Hasbro?

Chris (52:25):
No, it's Avalon Hill.
Avalon Hill owned by Hasbro.

Angie (52:28):
Owned by Hasbro?
Yes, and it was a Kickstarter.

Chris (52:33):
No, it was not.

Angie (52:34):
Okay, it was crowdfunded.

Chris (52:36):
It was Hasbro Pulse.

Angie (52:37):
It was still crowdfunded?
Yes, it was crowdfunded.
Okay, here.

Chris (52:42):
So that was your number five, that's my number five, the
Yawning Portal.
Number four.
All right, My number fouractually not my number four
board game geeks.
Number four is Kings Breakfast,So King's breakfast.

Angie (53:08):
How does this come up as their top five food games?
One of the games is in the fourthousandth.

Chris (53:13):
Yeah.

Angie (53:14):
You think it'd be like food chain magnet, or just keep
on listening, babe.

Chris (53:18):
All right.
This game is ranked fourthousand one hundred and fifty
on the board game geek rankings.
And it's King's breakfast.
So King's breakfast is a lightand fun card game designed by
Alan Moon and Aaron Weissblum, published in two thousand three.
The game is centered around thetheme of food, specifically a

(53:41):
King's grand breakfast.
So in the game you act as kingservants trying to bring the
king the best breakfast from theavailable dishes.
The aim is to get as many foodcards as possible without being
too greedy and attracting theking's attention.
You, if you collect too muchone type of food, too much of
one type of food, and the king'sgoing to notice.

(54:03):
And if the king notices Angie, you lose some cards.
Oh you play several rounds andeach round, players have to
choose whether to add more foodto their collection or to pass.
Passing can be strategic, as itallows you to potentially avoid
the king's attention and holdon to your food cards.
If you get the most food cardsby the end of the game without

(54:27):
getting too much attention fromthe king, you win.
And that is the board game.
Geek Number three, No numberfour.

Angie (54:42):
My number four is Endless Winter Paleo Miracle.
I stan Krodansky with FantasiaGames.

Chris (54:50):
OK, all right, that's it.

Angie (54:57):
We've talked about the game.
Oh yeah, OK, I don't know if Ineed to go over it, all right,
but I could tell you how it fitsinto the feeding.
How do you know how it fits?

Chris (55:06):
into the feeding.
You get animal cards and youcan either keep them as pets or
you can eat them.

Angie (55:11):
Yep, you can slaughter hunt the woolly mammoth and max
out your food.

Chris (55:18):
Number three, my number.
I keep doing it, i keep doingit.
The board game geek Numberthree, food game, is Foodie
Forest, ranked 4,137.
And Foodie Forest.

(55:38):
I didn't take any notes on thatone, so just get my word for it
Foodie Forest is number three.
I totally thought I had noteson that one.

Angie (55:54):
My number three is Three Sisters.
It is a roll and write gamewhere three sisters are
companion gardening.
So they are gardening squash, beans and corn.
So there we get the food, because you garden to get food
to eat.
And it's a fun roll and writegame.

(56:14):
I've been soloing it a lot.
So, I hate Farmer Ruth.
She's a mean son of a gun.

Chris (56:23):
I know you explain her so bad, she's nasty.
I thought it was Ethel, though.

Angie (56:30):
Maybe it is Ethel.
Did I call her Ruth?
Maybe it is Ethel.

So Food Chain Island, it's asolo game and it's published by
Button Shy and designed by ScottAlms.
The game is based on a foodchain sequence where players

(57:34):
manipulate a three by three gridof animal cards.
In this game, each animal cardrepresents a different tier of
the food chain.
Your goal is to manipulate thecards so that animals eat each
other in order to create asingle dominant predator.
Yep, the catch is that animalscan only eat specific other

(57:55):
animals and only in a certainorder.

Announcer Dude (57:58):
Following the rules of the food chain.

Chris (58:02):
Blah, blah, blah, blah.
No Food Chain Island is acompact and quick game.
A solo gameplay makes a goodchoice for when you're looking
for a gaming experience, Angie.

that a food game?
And the whole thing, becausethe slaughter in the cattle was
going to be my food and youwould question it and it was
going to be funny.
And the whole time here you'resitting here, not even your top
five list, your top five off BGG, which is that, just like the

(59:09):
top five searches that pulled up.

Chris (59:12):
