Speaker 1 (00:02):
hey, welcome domain,
dave.
Cheap wine finder calm again.
We got another wine reviewvalue price wine, like we always
do.
Today we've got a wine I foundfor 1299.
It lists for 18, so the pricesyou might find where you're at
might not be the same, but waitfor sale.
(00:22):
It's the justin central coastsalbion blanc 2023.
Justin's one of those brandsthat are available everywhere,
from high-end wine shops togrocery stores.
I mean, it's just, it'savailable.
And this particular one got 91points from wine spectator.
Wine spectator is the good one.
(00:44):
I mean, not that the enthusiastis bad, but that's the one more
people listen to.
And it's the central coastsauvignon blanc.
But it's.
It doesn't have um greatparticulars, it's from all over
the central coast.
They didn't do anything toospecial with the production.
(01:05):
Um, you know so, but it's good,so hold on one second, I'm
gonna take a sip.
One thing they did do with theproduction is whole cluster
(01:26):
pressing.
Whole cluster means thateverything gets pressed,
including the stems and thesticks and all that, and that
happens a lot with high-endPinot Noir, and the thought
behind that is, by taking thewhole cluster with the sticks
and stems and everything, thatall the flavor is going to get
(01:47):
pressed into the wine that the.
You know that, that it's notjust the grapes, it's the, it's
the, the whole cluster thatmakes a difference, and this is
a whole cluster.
Sauvignon blanc I don't thinkthat is something that is
especially in the under 20 range, is something that is
especially in the under $20range, is something that happens
a lot.
(02:07):
There is no Justin, at least notanymore.
There wasn't until 2010.
And then the Wonderful Companybought the winery.
The Wonderful Company has twoother wineries, I think two or
three other wineries, high-endwineries.
I wasn't familiar with them,but we're a cheap wine finder.
But they also.
(02:27):
Their brands include PalmWonderful Fiji Water.
Halo's Oranges the little bittyones.
Wonderful Pistachios WonderfulSeedless Lemons wonderful
seedless lemons.
Um, an online florist company.
I mean, it's a very particular,diverse kind of most.
(02:54):
Their brands are pretty good.
You know it's like a floratellaor teleflora.
So there you go.
So there might not be yourtypical wine company, but they
have brands that you might bevery familiar with.
So how is this Sauvignon Blanc?
Because Justin has been aroundfor a long time and they seem to
(03:17):
spare no expense in making thewine At $18,.
It is for not being anythingyou know, for being from
vineyards throughout the centralcoast.
You know not being anything inparticular, it is kind of high
but it tastes really good andactually 18, I got it for 13.
I'm just used to getting traderjoe's and all these, um, you
(03:42):
know 7.99 savionignon Blancs.
I'm gonna take another sip.
The Sauvignon Blanc is bothsubtle and complex.
You got to kind of think aboutit to find the flavors Really
nice lip acidity, you know, notover the top but balanced,
(04:07):
really nice flavor.
It's maybe medium body, maybe alittle under medium body.
Put a chill on this thing.
This is a really nice wine, like I said, uh, wine specter
gave it 91 points and that's no.
You know that that indicates inthis price range a really good
wine, any price range.
(04:28):
It is a good.
It's a good sauvignon blanc,it's a good value priced wine.
It tastes great.
You don't need new zealand, youdon't need france to get a
really nice um sauvignon blanc.
There are Central Coast wines.
I just read that Central Coast, that E&J Gallo just shut down
(04:51):
their Central Coast division.
Just a whole bunch of wineries.
E&j Gallo was the largestfamily-owned winery in the
United States and the wineindustry is having a problem.
We're E&J Gallo is shuttingdown an entire division You've
got to look out.
But there is when that happens.
(05:11):
There's going to be bargainsout there.
So you know, while thingsreorganize, well good, you know
they can reorganize and we'llget bargains in the meantime.
You know things don't go onforever.
So hopefully it rights itselfand people start drinking wine
again, because people need todrink more in this day and age.
(05:32):
Being sober with all the crapgoing on ain't that good.
So, adios, keep it cheap.
This was the Justin CentralCoast Salbion Blanc 2023.
It was well worth drinking.
If you see it, give it a try.
I've got a Trader Joe'sinexpensive Chardonnay coming up
from a very good producer, butit's one of those hidden ones.
(05:54):
So, adios, keep it cheap.
This is Domain Dave, like us,we like your podcast and I'll be
talking to everybody in acouple of days.
So, adios, bye-bye.
