Ever stumbled upon a wine that makes you wonder why you hadn't discovered it sooner? That's exactly what happened when I uncorked the Tarongino Frizzante with Valencia Oranges from Trader Joe's.

This Spanish treasure proves that wine innovation doesn't need to abandon tradition. Built on a foundation of Muscat de Alexandria—one of the world's oldest grape varieties, dating back thousands of years—this lightly sparkling wine offers something genuinely unique. The winemakers have thoughtfully infused it with juice from Valencia oranges, creating a beautiful orange-hued beverage that drinks like a sophisticated, ready-made mimosa but with more character and balance than you might expect.

What truly sets this wine apart is its remarkable restraint. At just 7% alcohol and a mere 51 calories per glass, it's designed for those leisurely afternoons when you want to sip something delightful without worry. The bubbles are gentle (frizzante means it has less carbonation than Prosecco or Champagne), and the sweetness is surprisingly balanced—neither the Muscat nor the orange dominates the experience. Produced by a cooperative of small vineyard owners near Valencia, this $12.99 bottle represents authentic Spanish winemaking tradition with a modern, accessible twist.

Whether you're hosting brunch, looking for a porch sipper, or simply want something refreshing and different, make sure to serve this wine well-chilled—perhaps even in an ice bucket to maintain that ideal temperature. Have you tried any fruit-infused wines that surprised you? Share your experience and let us know if you grab a bottle of this orange delight!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Domain Dave.
Hey, welcome, it's Domain Dave.
Cheapwinefindercom again withanother wine, kind of an unusual
wine, let's see.
It's $12.99.
I think Trader Joe's has the USrights for it, though it's a
wine from Spain that isavailable in other countries, I

(00:21):
believe is the TerenginoFrisante with Valencia oranges.
What that all means is this isa bubbly that they added orange
juice to from Valencia.
They actually told you what thevineyard owner was and this is

(00:41):
from a co-op in Valencia, aroundValencia, spain owner was.
And this is from a co-op inValencia, around Valencia, spain
.
Uh, the grape is, uh, muscat deAlexandria, which is one of the
oldest grapes around.
It's been this way for thousandor two, maybe more years.
It's one of the um, it's one ofthe main grapes that have never

(01:03):
been messed with, so it'susually a dessert wine.
It's got a little sweetness toit and this wine is more along
the lines of a mimosa, one ofthose things where that's a
Prosecco that they put beachberet in.
This is just a frizzante.

(01:23):
Frizzante is like the lowestlevel of bubbles of all the
sparkling wines.
They measure how muchatmosphere is in the bottle and
that kind of informs you aboutthe bubbles and Champagne's.
Like six atmospheres andProsecco might be three, three
and a half.
Well, this is one, maybe two.

(01:43):
So it's very lightly bubbled.
It actually has a screw cap butdoesn't have a you know cork or
anything.
You don't need it, and thebubbles are not that pronounced.
Let me pour a little in myglass.
Yeah, they don't.
They're nice, fine bubbles, butthey're not gonna.
Yeah, they look good.
It looks good.
It actually is um orange.

(02:06):
I mean it's a um, it doesn't.
I mean it looks like a orangepopsicle in color, but it's
pretty.
It would be a great halloweenwine because it's kind of has
the orange and black thing going.
There's no black black and ittastes good.

(02:28):
It's 7% alcohol, which is verylow alcohol for these things,
and on the back label itactually has nutritional facts
and it's 51 calories per glass.
So not only is it low alcohol,it's low calorie too.
And while I would imagine,since Muscat d'Alexandria is a

(02:54):
dessert wine and a sweeter wineand oranges aren't necessarily
sweet but they're ripe, theyhave that nectar from the juice
sweetness.
You know, they have that nectarfrom the juice sweetness.
So while this is probably onthe sweet side, though the
calories tell you it's not toosweet, it doesn't taste that
sweet.
You don't get that sugary thinggoing on.

(03:15):
I'm gonna take another sip.
It doesn't overplay anything.
It doesn't overplay theValencia Oranges.
It doesn't overplay play themusket bubbly.
It kind of is balanced.

(03:38):
I wrote in the review that thisis the summer sipper that you
didn't know you needed $12.99,who knows if they, with the
tariffs and everything, if thisprice will go up, or can they
even get it again after a while.
But this is not a bad wine.
And at $12.99, it also tellsyou that this isn't a throwaway,

(04:02):
inexpensive wine.
That's a solid price for a wineof this nature.
Like I said, they name wherethe oranges come from.
This isn't a throwaway.
The winery is a co-op.
A co-op is a group ofindependent um vineyard owners,

(04:24):
small ones usually.
They might have, they might do,they might grow more than just
grapes.
You have other things and theyband together and sometimes a
hundred or more, and they pulltheir money and they build a
winery and they hire a winemakerand then they have the volume
to start competing with wines.

(04:44):
And this is one of their winesand this is very Spanish.
I mean, you know, sangria is thewhite wine that they dump the
oranges and all of the spices inthere and they like to have the
fruit in their wine and it'sfun and it drinks well.
And this one's fun and itdrinks well too.

(05:06):
Plus, it's orange and it'slow-cal, it's low alcohol.
I mean you can sip this all day, you know, like the old days in
Europe where you would go tothe center of the city and sit
at a cafe and just laze the dayaway sipping on wine and talking
and people watching.

(05:26):
Well, this is one of thosewines you could do it to.
At 7% alcohol, you're notreally going to overdo it.
With not that much sugarinvolved, you're going to be
okay with it.
I liked it.
I'm going to take another sipand we're going to close this up
.
There you go.

(05:48):
It's the 1299 Trader Joe's wine.
I don't think it's availableanywhere else.
Tarantino Frasante with Valenciaoranges.
It's a bubbly of Muscatd'Axandria infused with quality
oranges.
What else can you ask for?
It sips great.
It is a nice drink.

(06:08):
Make sure it's chilled.
If you're going to eat it, havea drink it.
Get a ice bucket so you cankeep it cold.
The colder the better.
This wine's made to be chilled.
So there you go.
It's a strange one, something Ireally haven't had too much
association with.

(06:29):
But mimosas are just fine too.
It works, it tastes great andyou can enjoy.
So, adios, keep it cheap,bye-bye.
