Dive into the world of affordable yet impressive wines with our latest discovery - the Seaglass Central Coast Pinot Grigio 2024. Found on a holiday sale for just $4.99 (normally $12), this bottle proves that quality wine doesn't require emptying your wallet.

Coming from Trinchero Family Wine Estates, a Napa Valley institution since 1948 and the fourth largest family-owned winery in the United States, this Pinot Grigio showcases the expertise behind its creation. The primary grapes are harvested from the Los Alamos Vineyard, located about 20 miles off the Santa Barbara coast, where the Pacific's cooling influence creates perfect growing conditions. What makes this wine particularly special is its thoughtful blend - 97% Pinot Grigio complemented by 2% Albariño and 1% Grüner Veltliner, adding subtle complexity to each sip.

The tasting experience reveals a bright, fresh, and remarkably flavorful profile featuring notes of apple, peach, pear, lemon, and melon. Despite its fruity character, this remains decidedly dry with a well-integrated 13.5% alcohol content. Cold fermented in the traditional Italian style (honoring Trinchero's Italian roots), it offers that "beguiling acidity" that keeps you coming back for more. Unlike its Italian Alto Adige counterparts that typically emphasize citrus, this California expression leans more into luscious fruit flavors - exemplifying why Pinot Grigio is currently having its moment in the spotlight while Chardonnay sales slow down. Whether you're a seasoned wine enthusiast or just looking for an affordable everyday option, this female-crafted wine delivers quality that punches well above its price point. Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, welcome Domain Dave.
Here again forCheapWineFightercom and we got
another value priced summer well, all season Pinot Grigio.
This is a wine I actually foundon a holiday sale because this
is a holiday sale, but it's$4.99 normally 12 bucks good

(00:23):
deal.
That's why we're having ittoday, because this is a good
wine brand at a really goodprice.
It's the Seaglass Central CoastPinot Grigio 2024.
There's a number of wines in theSeaglass portfolio and it's a
wine from Trinchero, a familywine estates.

(00:43):
They've been around in NapaValley since 1948, and they have
50 different wine and spiritsthroughout the world.
They're like the fourth largestfamily-owned winery and a wine
business in the United States.
It comes from a good, it hasgood parents and the main grapes

(01:04):
come from a single vineyard, los Alamos Vineyard, which is
about 20 miles off the coast ofSanta Barbara, ava, which is
about 100 miles north of LosAngeles.
And then they add other CentralCoast grapes to fill out, just
to give it some more texture andflavors, because these less

(01:25):
expensive ones a lot of timescan use different grapes in
different places to bring justthat little bit of something
extra.
That all comes together.
So here we go.
How is it?
I'll take a sip, because Ialready wrote the review on the
CheapWineFuttercom website andit was good.
This wine is bright and freshand really flavorful.

(01:56):
I mean it's got the kind offlavors you know it's apple and
peach and pear and lemon andmelon and it's got that kind of
thing going on and it's got somereally nice acidity, maybe
candied acidity, but not sweet.
This is definitely a dry wine.
It's 13.5 on the alcohol, whichis for a pinot grigio is a
little strong but it holds itwell.
Um, it's just that it gets hotout there.

(02:18):
I mean it gets 100 degrees andin california, especially
southern california, even thoughsanta barbara, where the most
of the grapes come from, jutsout as a small it's not a
peninsula but a small area wheremost of the vineyards are has
cold water from the west, fromthe north and from the south, so

(02:41):
it just cools things off.
So this is a nice tasting, should be 12 bucks but on sale,
because this, this is a good one.
And also I'm being told thatpinot grigio is having its
moment right now.
I mean they a lot of stores, they can't get rid of chardonnay

(03:02):
, or at least chardonnay slowdown, but pinot grigio's picking
up.
People want the pinot grigio, and I think one of the reasons
is that it used to be kind of anacid bomb and now it's kind of
a fruit forward, deliciouslittle wine.
The this one is, um, coldfermented and in the traditional
style, but you whatever thatmeans because it's from Italy

(03:27):
and Cianciaro is Italian, youknow, based came from Italy
initially, so it's got the kindof beguiling acidity that makes
you want to take another sip.
It's kind of got the fruit thatmakes you happy once you do it.
It's got some citrus, but it'smostly fruit, I would say.

(03:49):
I think, like the Alto AdigeItalian Pinot Grigios, the money
ones from northeastern Italy, those tend to be more citrus to
me, and then they are fruit.
And these California ones, which are a little warmer, a lot
warmer to me, and then they arefruit.
And these California ones whichare a little warmer, a lot
warmer, tend to be more fruitthan citrus, which I'll take

(04:10):
either way.
So there you go.
I mean there's not too much tosay.
This is a really tasty, inexpensive, especially when you
get it on sale.
Well-made, it's a femalewinemaker who makes the entire
Seaglass line of wines and theyeven have one of those.

(04:30):
They even have Sauvignon Blancand, I think a Pinot Grigio in
reduced alcohol too, if you'relooking for that.
I usually don't look for that.
I don't want them to takeanything out of my wine, because
every time they take somethingout of the wine they're going to
take something like flavor outwhich I don't want out.
But they're getting better atnot doing that.
I'll take another sip and we'llwrap it up.
Take another sip and we'll wrapit up.

(04:59):
Oh, this is 97% Pinot Grigio,2% Albarino and 1% Gruner
Veltliner, which are all thoseare.
The other two grapes are reallydelicious grapes too.
I'm wishing I had an Albarinoand a Gruner with me now,
because I love those wines.
I don't drink enough of them.
Okay, so this is Domain DaveCheapWineFightercom.

(05:22):
Check us out atwwwCheapWineFightercom, where we
write the reviews and also havelinks to everything.
Now I've got a Chenin Blanccoming up next.
We've done one who done before?
I think we did a four or fiveyears ago, but it's it's worth
repeating.
So, adios, keep it cheap, andI'll be talking to me in a day
or two.
Bye-bye.
