Every time I sit down for these conversations, I go in thinking about how important it is to share someone’s story—to amplify their voice, their lessons, their experiences with both my community and theirs. But every time, I walk away realizing just how much I get from it. And Danielle was no exception.
Danielle reached out to me after seeing my interview with Breanne Summers, and when I first looked into her story, I knew I had to make space for this conversation—despite my best efforts to press pause on recording more interviews!
She’s a third-year law student at Harvard, Columbia’s 2021 Student of the Year, and she embodies what it means to lift others up. She gives her time so generously—mentoring students, making connections, guiding others toward opportunities. And here I am, 51 years old, realizing how much I can learn from her. Age is irrelevant. Her wisdom, her experience, her heart—it’s all so impactful, and I know it will resonate with everyone who listens.
This conversation was a beautiful reminder that even when life feels full, when I think, I can’t possibly fit in one more thing—I always get more than I give.
