"Leaders don't grow on trees, they're built." This powerful truth cuts through the noise of leadership myths that have misled so many of us. Leadership isn't some mystical quality bestowed upon a lucky few at birth—it's forged through fire, failure, and those quiet moments when no one's watching but you keep pushing forward anyway.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Life is waiting for you each day and you have to
prepare for each challenge alongthe way towards success.
It's not simple, but it can bedone.
Welcome to my Common SenseMotivation episodes.
I'm Chris Fantastic Powell.
Leaders don't grow on trees.
Let's get one thing straightLeaders are not born, they're

(00:22):
built.
They're built through fire, built through failure and built
through the quiet moments whenno one's clapping, but they keep
going anyway.
Today we're talking aboutleadership.
Not the buzzword, not the title, not the corner office, but the
real, raw, powerfulresponsibility that comes with
it.
A lot of people thinkleadership is some magical gift

(00:46):
handed out at birth.
He's a natural leader or shehas it all.
Let me stop you right there.
That's not how it works.
Leaders are not plucked fromthe trees like ripe fruit.
They're forged through life, through moments of pressure,
pain and purpose colliding allat once.
Leadership isn't about beingloud.

(01:06):
It's not about commanding theroom or having all the answers.
Sometimes the strongest leadersare the ones who had to fight
just to believe in themselves.
They didn't wake up withconfidence.
They built it, one failure at atime, one setback at a time,
one step forward when everythinginside them screamed to quit.

(01:29):
What makes someone a leader.
It's not the title, it's notthe promotion, it's not a book
or course or seminar.
It's the deep down convictionthat says if I don't step up,
who will?
Leaders often don't even knowtheir leaders until life forces
them to become one.
Until someone needs guidance, until a challenge demands action

(01:51):
, until a moment asks thequestions will you lead or will
you wait for someone else?
And here's the truth.
Great leaders don't forcepeople to follow them.
They don't need to.
People follow real leadersbecause they feel the truth in
their actions, they feel thefire in their commitment.
They see the consistency, thehumility and the courage to take

(02:13):
the hits and keep moving.
That's leadership.
Leadership doesn't have auniform, it doesn't have a
script.
It doesn't always come with anapplause, but it's the parent
who works two jobs and stillshows up.
The coach who builds charactermore than skill.
The manager who listens beforespeaking, the friend who leads

(02:33):
by example even when no one'swatching, the partner who brings
vision and peace into arelationship.
Life creates leaders, nottextbooks, not theories and not
certificates.
You can sharpen a leader in aclassroom, but you can't create
one there.
That comes from the fire ofliving, from the pressure of
purpose.
So if you've been through somethings, if you've been broken,

(02:57):
doubted, overlooked, misunderstood you might just be
in training.
The question is will you answerthe call when it comes?
Because, remember this leadersdon't grow on trees, they grow
in storms.
They grow in silence, they growin service.
And if you feel somethingstirring inside of you, if

(03:17):
you've been carrying a burden noone sees, if life keeps pushing
you into situations where youhave to step up, maybe that's
not coincidence, maybe that'syour moment.
You don't need permission tolead, just the decision.
Make it happen.
I'm Chris Fantastic Powell.
