Speaker 1 (00:00):
Life is waiting for
you each day and you have to
prepare for each challenge alongthe way towards success.
It's not simple, but it can bedone.
Welcome to my Common SenseMotivation episodes.
I'm Chris Fantastic Powell.
Sometimes in the rush of life,in the whirlpool of meetings,
phone calls, deadlines andresponsibilities, we forget
(00:21):
something simple yet powerfulRespect.
Respect for others isn't justabout being polite.
It's about building your future.
Every interaction plants a seedand those seeds grow into
relationships, opportunities andtrust.
It doesn't take much effort areturn call, keeping the
(00:43):
appointment you promised, acknowledging someone when you
pass by.
These are small actions withbig impact.
But too often we think we're toobusy, too important or that it
won't matter.
That false sense of importancecan blind us to the truth.
We need people.
No matter what your goal is, nomatter how talented or driven
(01:06):
you are, people will always be apart of your journey.
That text you ignored.
That friend, you didn't respondto that colleague, you brushed
off.
Those moments matter.
Sometimes, the very person youoverlook is the one who holds
the key to the door you've beentrying to open.
Respect isn't just for your bossor your clients.
(01:28):
It's for your family, yourfriends, your neighbors, even
strangers you'll never see again, because here's the reality.
The world doesn't revolvearound you.
We all move together and theway you treat others creates the
atmosphere you will live intomorrow.
So don't forget respect ispower.
(01:49):
Respect is opportunity.
Respect is the bridge betweenwho you are and where you're
trying to go.
And the best part it costs younothing but can change
everything.
Here's a story the respect youdidn't give.
There was a young man namedEric driven, ambitious, always
(02:13):
chasing the next opportunity.
He was talented, but in hisbusyness he often overlooked
people.
If a phone call came in thatdidn't seem important, he
ignored it.
If someone asked for a littleof his time, he brushed them off
.
He thought respect was optional, something he could give only
when it benefited him.
(02:34):
One day, eric had a meeting thatcould determine the future of
his business.
He walked into the roomconfident, maybe too confident.
Sitting across the table wasthe person who would decide
whether or not to invest inEric's company.
Eric reached out his hand, ready to pitch.
Then the investor looked at himin the eye and said We've met
(02:55):
before.
Eric's heart sank.
Months earlier he had brushedoff a man at a small networking
event who tried to introducehimself.
Eric didn't think he was worthhis time.
That man was now the veryperson with the power to change
his future.
Eric swallowed his pride, butbefore he could speak, the
(03:16):
investor continued you didn'trespect me then, and if you
can't respect people when youthink they're small, how can I
trust you to respect the biggeropportunities I put in your
hands?
Eric lost a deal that day, buthe gained something far more
valuable, a lesson that wouldchange his life.
From that moment on, he treatedeveryone with respect, whether
(03:39):
it was the janitor sweeping thefloors, the assistant answering
the phones or the CEO in thecorner office.
Eric made it a point to honoreveryone.
Years later, another opportunitycame, and this time the person
across the table wasn't astranger it was the janitor he
had taken the time to thank.
Every morning.
(03:59):
That same man built his ownbusiness and now had the
resources Eric needed.
And because Eric had learnedthe power of respect, the door
opened wide.
Remember, respect is neverwasted.
The person you overlook todaymay be the exact person holding
the key to your breakthroughtomorrow.
Never think respect doesn'tmatter.
(04:22):
It can change your entire life.
Make it happen.
