What happens when Christian business leaders embrace the reality that they serve a limitless God? True transformation begins.

In this deeply insightful episode, Harold Milby explores how faith-driven leaders can break through conventional boundaries and lead with extraordinary impact by aligning themselves with God's boundless vision and purpose. Drawing from powerful biblical foundations including Matthew 19:26 ("with God all things are possible") and Philippians 4:13, Harold unveils how many of us unknowingly limit what God can accomplish through our leadership.

The discussion takes us through the critical traits that define limitless leadership: faith-driven vision that sees beyond current circumstances, courageous resilience that confronts challenges with divine confidence, humble service that follows Christ's example, commitment to continuous growth, and the ability to empower others to reach their God-given potential.

You'll discover practical strategies to overcome the limiting beliefs that hinder your leadership effectiveness. Through personal reflection exercises, leadership assessments, and a framework for creating your own 30-day growth plan, this episode provides clear, actionable steps to transform your leadership approach.

Whether you're leading a small team or a large organization, these principles apply universally. As Harold reminds us, "God is not too small, God is not limited, God doesn't have boundaries, God is limitless. So dream big, have big dreams."

Now, before we go to ourbusiness spotlight, I just want

(02:04):
to give a big shout out reallyto Minneapolis, minnesota, for
having so many downloads, and wethank all of those of you there
in Minneapolis for doing that, and we thank really all of you
around the world and in my homecountry of the United States,

(02:26):
obviously.
Now in our company spotlightthis week, I want to mention a
company by the name of AlteredState.
Now, first I have to tell youhow they spell it.
It's a little bit different.
They use the word alter andthen an apostrophe D altered
it's an altered state.

(02:47):
That is the name of the company.
They're a women's clothingstore that started back in 2009
by Aaron Walters and Brian Mason.
They actually play Christianinstrumental music in their
stores.
They have prayer requestjournals that are in all of the

(03:08):
dressing rooms that people canleave a prayer request and know
that people will pray for them, and all of their retail clothing
is accessorized with Christiandecor, and many of their
customers have come throughtheir stores and have left type

(03:29):
messages and called them and letthem know that they came into
the store.
Maybe they left a review.
They came in the store feelingreally down, discouraged and
maybe having some problems, butthen when they left the store,
by the experience that they hadin the store it lifted them up
and it encouraged them andthat's something that they

(03:51):
desire to do.
They also give up to 25% oftheir profits to charitable
organizations and, man, they arejust a great company to work
for.
Even their employees, 80% oftheir employees and they have
about 2,000 employees, about 100stores nationwide here in the

(04:12):
United States and you know 80%of their employees.
You know they really testify tothe quality of their work
environment.
They really testify to thequality of their work
environment.
They love working there andthey were actually on Forbes'
list of the top companies towork for at least I know once,

(04:33):
and maybe even more than once.
But it's a great company and wereally appreciate businesses
like Altered State.
We really do and we just saluteyou guys and we just tell you
to keep up the good work.
As a Christian business, we'reso thankful.
All right, you know, asChristian business leaders.

(04:53):
You know we're called to bedifferent, I think, than the
world stereotype of really whatbusiness leaders and owners,
what they look like, what theymanage like, what they lead like
and what they act like.
You know, we're called to beGod's steward and that means

(05:13):
that we're his manager.
You know, we are managing ourinfluence, our resources, our
business and even maybe adepartment, and we're to do that
with excellence.
We're to do it with integrityand faith.
And you're called to be alimitless leader, a limitless

(05:34):
leader, one who basicallytranscends personal, cultural or
organizational boundaries, andyou do that by aligning your
leadership with God's purpose,by embracing growth, by
inspiring other people to reachtheir full potential.
So today I want to explore theimportance of being a limitless

(05:58):
leader, what its biblicalfoundation is and some practical
steps to embody what I wouldconsider to be a very
transformative approach in yourprofessional and even in your
personal life.
You know, I think it's soimportant that we understand,
when we talk about being alimitless leader, it's because

(06:22):
we serve a limitless God andthat's how that we can become a
limitless leader.
You know, it's my hope, as aChristian business leader, that
you'll seek to really deepen, really deepen your impact on the
world around you and thatyou'll create an environment for
really people to thrive in yourdepartment or your organization

(06:45):
, your company, and to lead morewith a kingdom, the kingdom of
God.
Lead more with a kingdommindset and by integrating these
biblical principles that we'regoing to talk about today with
some really good, actionablestrategies, you'll learn how to

(07:08):
break through limitations thatmaybe world leaders may have you
know people that are not bornagain, that are not trying to
operate as a Christian businessor Christian organization but
you'll learn how to breakthrough those limitations and
lead with courage, okay, andwith humility and great vision.

(07:32):
So it's very important.
So let's describe this in alittle bit more detail.
What is a limitless leader?
Well, a limitless leadership isthe practice of leading without
being constrained, I would say,by fear, by doubt or any kind

(07:53):
of self-imposed boundaries.
You know, it's really rooted inthe belief that God's power,
that God's wisdom and purposeare boundless.
They're limitless and asleaders we're invited to kind of
tap into that infinite resource, that infinite resource, the

(08:20):
infinite resources that God hasto achieve extraordinary
outcomes.
You know a limitless leader Iwould say number one he seeks
God's guidance in hisdecision-making.
He embraces challenges asopportunities for growth and he
inspires other people toovercome whatever limitations
they have.
And so I really, you know, seeGod creating this whole idea of

(08:48):
limitless through his word.
You can see that.
Just a couple of passages.
You know.
Matthew, chapter 19, verse 26says but Jesus looked at them
and said with man this isimpossible, but with God all
things are possible.
And that's right, all thingsare possible.
In Psalm 78 and 41, it saysthat, yea, they turned back and

(09:12):
tempted God and limited the HolyOne of Israel.
And this was talking about thechildren of Israel when they
went to the promised land.
And they didn't go into thepromised land in the beginning
because they were afraid thatthey could not defeat the people
of that land.
And so the passage here inPsalms is talking about that and
it says they limited God, theylimited what he could do as a

(09:36):
limitless leader.
Realize that you serve alimitless God.
There is no boundaries on God.
There is none.
There's nothing that God can'tdo.
I've seen God do some amazingthings and, yes, I've seen
miracles take place, literally, bona fide've seen miracles take
place, literally bonafide, certified miracles take place,

(10:03):
and that's because God islimitless and I believe in that
limitless power that he has andI depend on him.
And so why does this limitlessleadership really matter?
I believe because we're livingin a very complex and very
rapidly changing world and evenbusiness environment, and
Christian leaders face, I think, very unique challenges.
There's ethical dilemmas,there's cultural pressures,

(10:26):
there's temptation to prioritize, prioritize profit over purpose
.
And limitless leadership iscritical because it aligns with
God's call.
First of all, because the Biblereminds us that God's plans are
far greater than our own.
That's what it says in Jeremiah29 and 11.

(10:48):
And limitless leadership allowsyou to pursue God's vision for
your organization.
It allows you to driveinnovation because what happens
is you remove that mental or theemotional barriers because of
God being a limitless God, andso you trust in Him.
So it really fosters thiscreativity, this adaptability,

(11:09):
and it really enables yourbusiness to thrive, even in a
lot of uncertain times.
And it also inspires otherpeople.
A limitless leader is going tomodel courage, he's going to
model faith and he's going to dohis best to empower employees
and stakeholders and communitiesto pursue excellence.

(11:32):
And obviously it actuallyreflects Christ's example.
You know Jesus led withoutlimits.
He broke the cultural norms, hehealed the broken.
You know he transformed thelives through love and through
success and sacrifice.

(11:55):
And so I believe it's important.
You know David Ramsey.
Dave Ramsey said that God isthe ultimate entrepreneur and we
are made in his image.
When we align our business withhis principles, success becomes
a natural byproduct.
What a great quote.
I completely agree with what hesays.

(12:15):
Now, how do we bow?
I guess we bow ourself tolimitations.
Why do we do that?
How does that happen that welimit ourself?
Well, first we fail to realizethat God is limitless and he
wants us to be imitators.
The Bible says be imitators ofme as I am of God.

(12:38):
Paul said that.
It also says in another passagethat we're to be imitators,
imitators of God.
And so we're to imitate God.
We're to be like God.
The Bible says that we're to belike gods and it says are you
not gods?
He wasn't saying gods put us onthe same level as God, but what
he was saying was aren't weGod's?

(12:58):
Aren't we made in his image?
Aren't we to be imitators ofhim?
And so we fail to realize thatGod is limitless and he wants us
to be imitators of him.
Next is unbelief.
You know, in Jesus's hometownof Nazareth, the Bible says that
he could not do many mightymiracles there because of their

(13:20):
unbelief Not because he isunbelief, but because of their
unbelief.
And so it's so important for usthat we don't have unbelief in
our life, especially at thepotential that God puts in us,
because there's a lot ofpotential that God has in you, a
lot of potential God has in me,and God has a purpose, and God
is always pushing us towards ourpurpose Disobedience.

(13:43):
You know, Abraham limited Godin being able to fulfill his
promise in his life because hecouldn't see himself being a
father at 100 years old and hiswife becoming pregnant at 90
years old.
And so he got in there and hemeddled and he got his
handmaiden Hagar.
He got her pregnant and gavebirth to Ishmael.

(14:06):
And that's not what God wanted, nor is it what God told him to
do.
But he limited God.
He didn't think God could do it, so he thought he'd help God.
Let me tell you something Goddoesn't need your help.
He doesn't need your help.
He wants you to be a part withhim.
He wants you to actually be apartner with him.
But he doesn't need your helpbecause God is all-powerful,

(14:27):
he's all-knowing, and so it'snot anything that's going to
catch him off guard.
So you've got to believe inthat and you've got to be
obedient when God speaks to you,and you've got to be obedient
to his word and you can't doubt.
That's the other thing.
Doubt the children of Israeldoubted that God could take them

(14:48):
into the promised land, and sothey didn't go.
They didn't go, and the Biblesays they didn't go because of
their unbelief.
And so again it goes back tofaith, which is another issue.
Lack of faith you know Jesus, you know didn't?
A lot of people didn't thinkthat Jesus could raise Lazarus
from the dead, but he did.

(15:09):
And these are the kinds ofthings that hinder us or cause
us to fail to fully, reallyembrace God's power, his
promises or even his plans forour lives.
And so we've got a strongbiblical foundation.
When we talk about limitlessleadership, it's deeply rooted

(15:29):
in the scriptures, and I've readsome already, but here's a
couple of others.
Philippians 4.13 says I can doall things through Christ, who
strengthens me.
And this verse really remindsus, as leaders, that our
strength comes from God, notfrom our own abilities.
It doesn't come from oureducation, it doesn't come from
our wisdom, it doesn't come fromour experience.

(15:52):
You know God will use thatsometimes, but it's Christ who
strengthens us and because ofthat we can do all things.
There's nothing that we can'tdo when God is behind us.
Ephesians 3 and 20 says now tohim, who is able to do
immeasurably more than all wecould ask or imagine.
So God's power exceeds ourwildest dreams and that's why I

(16:17):
believe we need to dream big.
Dream big personally, dream bigif you're involved in ministry,
dream big in your business, because I got to tell you God
can do it.
God is not too small, god isnot limited, god doesn't have
boundaries, god is limitless.

(16:37):
So dream big, have big dreams.
Mark 9 23 says everything ispossible for the one who
believes, and faith is there toremove those limitations and it
opens doors to what I wouldconsider to be divine, very
divine possibilities, godlypossibilities.
And Matthew 5 and 16 says letyour light shine before others

(17:01):
that they may see your gooddeeds and glorify your Father in
heaven.
So limitless leadership.
It really glorifies God throughimpact of service, and that's
what really it's all about.
You know, when I talk aboutsome of these businesses in the
business spotlight segment everyweek, you know you'll find
something that is in common withmost of them, and that's

(17:23):
service.
You know they want to servetheir customers, they want to
serve their employees, but it'sservice.
So you know, to become alimitless leader, you've got to
cultivate several biblical,grounded traits.
Okay, first is a faith-drivenvision.
You know, a limitless leadertrusts God's plan and he pursues

(17:47):
a vision that aligns with hispurpose.
You know, abraham obeyed God'scall to leave his homeland.
God told him.
He said I want you to leavewhere you're at.
I'm going to take you to theland.
And he gets him there and hesays as far as your eye can see,
I'm going to give it to you.
As far as you can see, I'mgoing to give it to you.
So he trusted in God's promise, but yet he couldn't see it.

(18:09):
You know it wasn't right then.
It didn't happen right there, and this was something that was
a far off.
In fact, he told Abraham, hesaid I'm going to make your
descendants like the sand of thesea.
You know he couldn't see thatin his natural eye, but he
believed it.
But he believed it.
And so what you've got to do isidentify what your current

(18:31):
business challenge is and, instead of shrinking back, what
you need to do is seek God'svision for your business or your
organization, write a clear anda very faith-inspired mission
statement, and then you begin tocommunicate that with your team
and even with other people thatyou come into contact with that

(18:53):
are affiliated somehow withyour business, such as vendors
or partners, whoever it may be.
So that's important.
Next is having some kind of avery courageous resilience.
Courageous resilience you know, limitless leaders that you're
going to face challenges, butyou can do it with boldness.

(19:15):
Why?
Because we trust in God'sprovision.
I'm not trusting in myprovision, I'm trusting in God's
provision.
David confronted Goliath, buthe only confronted him with
faith, not fear.
He didn't have fear when hestood before Goliath.
He had faith in the God that heserved.
And so you know you can, instead of retreating, instead

(19:40):
of falling back, you need topray for courage and then take a
very actionable step toward, however, whatever it is that you
need to do to fix thatsituation or that resolution,
but take at least one stepforward and toward that
resolution.
The next thing is humility, andreally kind of humility and

(20:02):
humble service.
You know a limitless leader.
You know you're going toprioritize serving other people
over your own personal interests.
You know Jesus, even though hewas the leader.
It was Jesus who washed hisdisciples' feet and what he was
doing?
He was modeling servantleadership and you can find that
in John, chapter 13.

(20:23):
You know, but you need toregularly engage in acts of
service, you know, and thatcould be like mentoring
employees or maybe volunteeringin your community, but that's
extremely, extremely important.
And then you need to make acommitment to lifelong growth.
You know you need to continueto grow.

(20:48):
You know I was speaking atchurch.
I had the privilege of takingthe pulpit as our pastor was on
vacation.
He had asked me to fill in, andone of the things that I was
talking about is how God wantsus to operate in a limitless way
, because God is continuallyshaping us.
We're changing, we'retransforming, and if you're the

(21:10):
same today as you were the sametime a year ago, then
something's not right.
You should be growing andlearning more and developing
more, transforming more each daythat goes by, each year that
goes by.
And so you want to commit to apersonal and a very personal and
a professional development planand you want to recognize that

(21:33):
God's continually shaping you.
You know Paul said inPhilippians, chapter 3, you know
he said that I press toward themark of the prize, of the high
calling of Christ Jesus.
Well, he didn't say he wasthere.
He said I press, I'm trying,I'm growing to get to that
destination, and so we have tobe willing to do that on a

(21:55):
regular basis.
So you need to invest inyourself.
Invest in yourself throughmaybe some books or conferences
or coaching listening to thispodcast is one get some feedback
from people that you respectand then just be self-aware of
your growth or lack of growth.
And then the next thing thatyou need to do is you need to

(22:18):
empower other people.
You know a limitless leaderequips people.
You inspire other people toreach what their God-given
potential is.
You know Jesus discipled hispeople, his followers.
He entrusted them.
He entrusted his people, hisfollowers.
He entrusted them.
He entrusted his disciples withhis mission, and we can see

(22:38):
that clearly in Matthew 28,verses 19 through 20.
And so we need to delegate verymeaningful responsibilities to
people on your team and thencelebrate with them their
successes.
You know that's how you empowerother people.
You know Jack Welch led GE intosuch a time of growth and the

(23:07):
company really did well underhis leadership.
And he said this one time hesaid it's about growing your
people, not you.
You grow from the reflectedglory of your people, and I
think God is really approving ofthat statement, because I think

(23:28):
that is what it's all about iswe grow people, and we're not
looking just to grow ourselves, but we're looking to grow others
.
So how do you become?
You know we just talked about, you know, some of the
characteristics of a limitlessleader.
So how do we become a limitlessleader?
Well, you've got to cultivate adeep relationship with God.

(23:50):
And now why does that matter?
Well, because a limitlessleader flows from the intimacy
that he has with God.
And now why does that matter?
Well, because a limitlessleader flows from the intimacy
that he has with God and withouthis guidance, your efforts are
very limited by your own humanstrength.
So you need to develop a closerelationship, a very deep
relationship with God, andthere's some practical steps to
do that.

(24:10):
You need to spend time inprayer and in reading God's
scripture every day, even if youjust set aside 15 minutes, 10
minutes, 30 minutes if you can,but set aside this time each
morning to pray and read theBible.
Have a journal and recordthings that maybe you feel like

(24:30):
God's sharing with you, andprayers, maybe that you share
and you write down for yourleadership team and then make
sure that you honor God bytaking a weekly day of rest, you
know, preferably on Sunday, butyou need to be able to reflect,
that rest and recharge you knowduring that time and then be

(24:51):
accountable, show accountability, you know.
Join some kind of a leadershipgroup, a Christian leadership
group, or find a Christianmentor that will encourage you
in your spiritual walk and inyour spiritual growth.
The next thing you need to do tobecome a limitless leader is
you want to overcome limitingbeliefs, and this is huge.

(25:11):
You want to overcome limitingbeliefs because fear and doubt
and insecurity can hinder yourleadership potential.
So limitless leaders, replacethese with faith and truth.
So what you have to do isyou've got to identify the lies,
you've got to reflect onthoughts like I'm not qualified,
I can't get it done, I don'thave the experience, I don't

(25:35):
have the education, and you needto write these things down and
then pray over them, overcomethem.
You know.
Replace with what God says thosethings.
I can't, I'm not qualified,I'll fail.
You know.
Replace those things with whatGod's word says, because God
will equip you.
He's called you.
God equips those that he calls.
So you need to do that and thenaffirm who you are in Christ,

(25:58):
declare who you are in Christ.
I'm a child of God.
I'm called to lead with purpose.
You know you've got to begin todo that.
You know Mary Kay Ash, who's afounder of Mary Kay Cosmetics.
She said don't limit yourself.
Many people limit themselves towhat they think they can do and
you can go as far as your mindlets you, what you believe.
Remember you can achieve whatyou believe you can achieve.

(26:22):
If you can't believe it, youcan't achieve it.
So it's that important.
And then develop a growthmindset.
Develop a growth mindset, because a growth mindset it
really embraces challenges,doesn't repel it.
It embraces challenges asopportunities to really learn,

(26:43):
and so that's important.
So make sure that you havegoals that stretch you.
You know, make sure that you, after a failure, that you sit
down and you reflect on it andyou learn from it.
You know what did you gettaught during that failure?
What did God teach you duringthat time?
And then adjust accordingly.
And then make sure you look formentors.

(27:03):
You know, have mentors Connectwith seasoned Christian leaders
for guidance and perspective.
And you know, have mentorsconnect with seasoned Christian
leaders for guidance andperspective, and you know you
need to do that.
These are so important.
You know you need to askyourself questions these
practical tools here andexercises.
So you know you want to havepersonal reflection.

(27:25):
Questions like how has fear ordoubt limited my leadership in
the past?
Write that stuff down.
Have a journal.
Write it down what is God'svision for my organization?
How can I align what I'm doing,in other words, what my actions
are, with that plan that Godhas, that vision that God has?
Maybe ask yourself who in myteam can I empower to grow in

(27:47):
their potential?
These are great questions toask in very good and practical
ways that you can help becomethat limitless leader.
And then take a leadershipassessment, you know, like on a
scale of one to ten.
How consistently do I seekGod's guidance when I'm making
decisions?
How often do I take risks topursue God's vision for my

(28:09):
business?
How effectively do I empowerother people to succeed?
And then you know, gradeyourself, like I said, on one to
10.
So you know, have an actionplan.
Here's an idea for you Create a30-day plan for the next 30
days to grow as a limitlessleaders and make sure you have a

(28:30):
spiritual goal.
In other words, how much timeare you going to spend with the
Lord?
How much time are you going todevelop yourself spiritually?
Have personal growth goals, youknow.
Read a leadership book, you know, by a Christian author.
Or you know, maybe, a team goalwhere you mentor one person,
maybe once a week, and then havea business goal, you know.

(28:51):
Launch a new initiative byfaith, you know, in these next
30 days.
But have some kind of a planfor the next 30 days to help you
move more towards becoming thatlimitless leader.
You know, and there's a lot ofbooks out there that you can
read.
I'll encourage you to read someof these the Purpose Driven

(29:12):
Life by Rick Warren.
Lead Like Jesus by KenBlanchard.
Courageous Leadership by BillHybels.
These are just a few, andthere's a couple of
organizations I could recommendtoo Fellowship of Christian
Athletes.
They have a lot of leadershipresources and Christian
Businessmen's Connection.
That's another greatorganization that you can become

(29:35):
a part of, so I would encourageyou to do that.
So, as a Christian businessleader, you're uniquely
positioned, as we've talkedabout, to lead with a limitless
faith and impact yourorganization and the world
around you for God's glory, forhis glory not yours but his.
And when you align yourselfwith these biblical principles

(29:59):
and you cultivate some of thesekey traits that we've talked
about and you take somepractical steps, I believe that
you can break throughlimitations.
I believe that you can inspireothers to do the same.
I believe that you can breakthrough limitations.
I believe that you can inspireothers to do the same.
I believe that you can embracethe call to be a limitless
leader, trusting that with God,all things are possible.

(30:22):
So commit to one specific stepthat you've heard today, just
one, and then maybe it'sstarting your daily prayer habit
or mentoring an employee, andthen share this vision with your
team to help foster thisculture of limitless leadership,
and then pray, pray, say youknow, lord, make me a limitless

(30:43):
