(00:00):
Hi, welcome back to day four of Foundation with Hope,
mindfulness, and Prayer. Yesterday we talked a little bit
about how we need spiritual foodto truly live, and today we'll
see that Jesus had a regular habit of seeking solitude to
reflect and to pray. We're also going to put a little
(00:25):
emphasis on the mind and how ouremotions often change like the
weather, and how to be at peace with that.
OK so let's go ahead and get started by finding a seat.
Make any final adjustments to make sure you're comfortable and
(00:47):
then take a few nice big deep breaths in really filling U the
lungs and on your next exhale let the eyes become heavy and
slowly close. Come to that feeling of weight
(01:10):
in the body. Feel the effects of gravity
pushing down. Feel the space around the body.
Bring your awareness to any sounds in the room, just simply
(01:39):
noticing the sounds. You don't have to hold on to 1
sound, simply notice any sounds. Now move inward to the heart and
(02:18):
see if you can feel the heartbeat.
And if thoughts take you away and take your mind, it's OK Be
friendly with them. And when you hear my voice,
(02:40):
bring your awareness back to theheart.
See if you can find a place within that's safe, feel a sense
(03:10):
of security or love calm. Notice this place and you can
come to this place. There's nowhere to go.
(03:40):
There's nothing to do. You are safe.
(04:07):
Take a moment to consider this first.
Jesus often went away to other places to be alone so that he
could pray. And again, Jesus often went away
(04:29):
to other places to be alone so that he could pray.
Jesus went off on his own to pray.
(04:52):
It's a strange thing to think about.
It would make sense that since he's the Son of God that he
wouldn't need to do this, but hedid.
Jesus had a regular habit of seeking solitude to reflect and
(05:12):
pray. He understood that God was the
source of his strength as fully human.
Jesus knew that connecting with God on a daily basis was
necessary to live a spirit filled life.
(05:34):
He knew that life was full of struggle and hardship and that
he needed the presence of God inorder to fulfil his purpose.
Jesus's life is a model for us. He invited his disciples to
(05:54):
imitate his spiritual habits. He wanted God's presence to be
at work in their lives too, spiritually, emotionally, and
physically. It's necessary for you to
seclude yourself and rest, especially in today's world
(06:21):
that's so determined to pull your attention away.
You have to make space to restore your spirit.
Allow yourself to rest in the arms of God.
Spending time alone allows you to communicate with God without
(06:46):
the distractions. As you spend more time with Him,
you'll begin to feel His direction.
Your perspective will naturally change.
Our lives are like the ocean. Sometimes the surface is rough
(07:09):
and hectic, but as we begin to let go and rest deeper with God,
our lives begin to get calmer. The deeper you rest into your
true nature, the less you're affected by the waves on the
surface. The ocean floor is always still,
(07:37):
regardless of how turbulent the waves on the surface may be.
The deeper you go below the waves, the quieter it becomes.
The deeper you rest with God, the calmer you become.
(07:59):
As you rest deeper in, the more you'll feel God's peace and
presence in your life. Even rough waves won't be able
to shake the foundation and loveof God in your life.
(08:27):
God, help me rest in your arms. Help me be easy with my thoughts
and emotions. I trust you.
I want to know you. Help me let go and rest into the
depth of Your love. Help me find the solitude my
(08:52):
soul needs. Gently bring your attention back
to the body and back to that feeling of weight.
(09:18):
Feel the chair underneath the hands.
Feel the feet on the floor. Notice any sounds in the room
and for a moment notice the breath.
Take a nice deep breath in and slowly open the eyes.
(09:42):
Sit back in your chair and have a stretch if it feels good.
Remember, no matter how turbulent your life may be, the
ocean floor is always quiet. You can find rest in God.
(10:03):
I hope you feel a little calmer and we'll see you tomorrow for
day five of Foundation with hope, mindfulness, and prayer.
