(00:00):
Hi, welcome back to day five of Foundation with Hope,
Mindfulness, and Prayer. Today we're going to focus on
the naturalness and ease of meditation.
The best thing about this practice is that there's no
expectations. It will naturally become easier
(00:23):
just by spending the time you'reimproving.
There's no need for any additional effort.
Just relax and enjoy yourself. If you get distracted, just come
back to the exercise. It's no problem.
Meditation is something to experience, not something to
(00:48):
accomplish. OK, let's start in the usual way
by finding your seat and gettingcomfortable.
Go ahead and take some nice deepbreaths.
Remember to expand the lungs andbreathe in deep.
And on the exhale, let go, soften, begin to relax.
(01:15):
And on the next exhale, go aheadand close your eyes and let your
body become heavy. Gently bring your awareness to
the breath without trying to change it.
(01:40):
Listen to the subtle sound of the breath.
Notice how easy and natural it is to breathe.
(02:01):
The breath breaths itself. Simply notice the breath, feel
the breath come in and feel the breath go out, feel the rise and
(02:24):
the fall of the chest. There's nothing to do.
There's nowhere to be. You're exactly where you need to
be. Move inward.
(02:57):
See if you can discover a place of safety within a sense of
security. Feel loved, calm.
(03:24):
Notice that you can come here atany time.
Feel the naturalness of resting within.
(03:45):
Let your awareness be free. Effortlessly rest into the arms
of God. Take a moment to consider this
(04:23):
verse. May the words of my mouth and
the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight.
And again, may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my
(04:46):
heart be pleasing in your sight.Sometimes the way we feel can
drive a lot of the decisions that we make.
(05:07):
Maybe you're stressed at school or work, so you break your diet
that you've been focusing on. Or maybe you get into an
argument with your spouse so you're rude to another family
member out of frustration. These types of things happen.
They're natural. In most of these situations,
(05:32):
your feelings are driving your actions.
We let ourselves get attached tothese surface level emotions or
frustrations and then we react. As you find peace in God, it
becomes easier to move beyond these surface level thoughts and
(05:55):
reactions. When you have something solid to
stand on, you won't be as easilyshaken.
Most times when our feelings arehurt or we feel a sense of
entitlement or anger, it's because there's a deeper
(06:15):
unresolved issue or insecurity. And that's OK.
There's nothing to be ashamed of.
We all have issues and everyone is fighting a secret battle on
the inside. When you spend time in prayer
(06:38):
and meditation, you're allowing Jesus into your heart.
You're opening yourself up to change, allowing your heart to
be healed. When we get a cut on our arm,
(06:58):
our body instinctively knows howto heal it.
We don't have to do anything forthe cut to heal.
The body effortlessly and naturally senses the cut and
heals it in its own time. In the same way, God already has
(07:21):
the healing process in place foryour heart.
Allow your heart to open. There's nothing you need to do
except spend time with Him. Your hang ups and hurts will
naturally heal through the love of God.
(07:50):
Jesus introduced a new way of thinking, a way to find peace
and contentment, not because your life is perfect, but
because you are eternally loved.Allow Jesus to change the way
(08:11):
you see the world. Let his heart become your own.
Let Jesus's words live in your heart.
Let them change the way you think.
God is love, and knowing God is becoming a reflection of that
(08:34):
love. God, thank you for this life.
(08:57):
Help me trust this natural healing process that you've
designed for me. Make me into the person I'm
meant to be. Calm my mind and transform my
heart. I want to share your love with
(09:17):
others. Gently bring your awareness back
to the body and back to that feeling of weight.
(09:39):
Feel the contact of your body onthe chair and take a moment.
Feel the heartbeat. Take a nice deep breath in and
slowly open the eyes. Sit back in your chair.
(10:02):
Take another deep breath. If that feels good, give
yourself a stretch. When you go about your day, stop
for a second to remember how natural it is to find God's
presence all around you. You can always find rest and
(10:23):
healing in God. Take care and we'll see you back
tomorrow for Foundation Day 6.
