(00:00):
Hi and welcome back to day six of your Journey with Hope.
You're halfway through the Foundation package.
Congratulations, we're excited for you.
Yesterday was a big day. Letting go and letting Jesus
heal your hurts and hang ups mayhave taken on a new meaning
(00:24):
given a little practice and a little time.
Learning to rest with God in prayer and meditation can really
change you from the inside out. OK, let's go ahead and get
started. Find yourself a comfortable seat
and let your body begin to relax.
(00:48):
Go ahead and start off with somenice deep breaths in through the
nose and out through the mouth. See if you can slow the breath
down a little bit. Make the inhales deep and expand
the lungs. Expand the chest and on the
(01:12):
exhales let go soften through the body.
Then on your next exhale, let the eyes slowly close like the
sunsets. Feel the body become heavy, the
(01:38):
arms, the legs, and feel the contact of the body and the
chair. Then begin to feel the muscles
soften and loosen. Let the shoulders relax away
(02:05):
from the ears and let go of the hands.
Let go of the feet. Soften the stomach.
Allow your awareness to begin torest.
(02:34):
Bring your awareness to the space around the body.
Feel the skin, feel the air on the skin, feel the clothes on
(02:54):
the skin. Gently bring your attention back
to the breath. There's no need to try to change
the breath. You're simply observing the
(03:16):
breath, noticing the breath witha kind of quiet curiosity.
Watch the rise and the fall of the chest.
(03:48):
Notice the feeling of the breathas it comes in and as it goes
out. Gently bring your awareness to
(04:11):
rest with this verse. You are being built to become a
dwelling in which God lives. And again, you are being built
(04:31):
become a dwelling in which God lives.
When we think about mastering a skill, we mostly think about all
(04:53):
the hard work and sweat. We think about pushing ourselves
to give more, to do more. Sometimes this type of hard work
is absolutely necessary, but sometimes passive approach can
be more powerful than an active one.
(05:19):
Consider the power of water rubbing against rock.
The stone will ultimately yield and give way to the water.
What was unchangeable and immovable gives way to the
subtle but constant force of thewater.
(05:41):
This small but persistent force is what made the Grand Canyon.
Consistency is what changes lifehabits that seem too large to
overcome. Persistence is crucial in this
(06:03):
journey. It takes time to notice the
presence of God and consistentlyinvolve Him in your life.
But given enough time, what was once just a small river becomes
the Grand Canyon. We're shaped by our daily
(06:25):
habits. Our habits determine our future.
Creating regular rhythms of meditation and prayer will
transform your spirit in ways that will surprise you.
(06:47):
This eternal perspective will change the way you see the
world, moment to moment. Sometimes your mind will be busy
and it'll be hard to settle in. Other times you might feel
perfectly calm and present. God's direction works in the
(07:12):
same way. Sometimes you can feel His
presence in your life, and othertimes it can feel far away.
Trust that this feeling is normal.
Even when it feels like you may not be making progress, the
(07:33):
water is still rubbing down the stone.
Consistency is what's important.Given time, you'll begin to
recognize His hand in your life.Be flexible enough to trust His
vision. The water is still rubbing down
(07:55):
the stone. Let go of your grip to control.
Trust that there's love guiding your life.
You're being built to become a dwelling in which God lives.
(08:19):
Be the water and not the rock. Jesus, I want to know you.
(08:45):
Give me the patience and courageto let go.
Change my heart. Change me into who I was meant
to be. Help me to be persistent and
consistent in my pursuit of you.I know you are here with me even
(09:11):
when I can't feel your presence.I trust your vision for my life.
Gently bring your awareness backto the body and back to that
(09:36):
feeling of weight. Feel the chair underneath the
body. Feel the floor holding you up.
Feel the space around the body. On your next inhale, go ahead
(10:03):
and open the eyes and sit back and let go.
Remember, when life gets tough, be the water and not the stone.
Consistency is what matters. God loves you and is always by
(10:25):
your side. Take care and we'll see you next
time for Day 7 of Foundation.
