Speaker 1 (00:27):
Welcome to your Daily
Battle Bible Study.
The daily Bible study where wefight three battles Monday
through Friday.
One we fight for a humble, grateful heart, aligned onto the
Lord, checking our gripes, ourcomplaints, our entitlements at
the door, getting humble andgrateful for everything, all the
(00:52):
blessings that he's given us.
Two, we deliberately pursue arelationship with our Lord and
Savior by studying his word,prayer.
And then three, we intercedeand lock our shields of faith
and pray for him.
So this is a Bible study that'sdone around seven o'clock
Monday through Friday, and Ihope you'll join us.
(01:13):
We are in Proverbs, we're goingto do one chapter at a time and
this is, of course, is a partof ministry for Christian
Warrior Mission, a home churchcommunity arm and ministry
forging warriors for today'schallenges.
So I hope you've got your cupof joe, I've got mine and I hope
(01:39):
we get somebody chatting.
Good morning.
My love Lauren might be alittle bit upset at me this
morning because just before Iwent live she likes to get up
and get some time in her Bibleand she was still snugging up in
her bed so I had to tickle herfeet, which is dangerous because
Lauren is not a calm person tobe tickled, she is a thrashing
(02:05):
monstrosity when you do that, but she was very good-natured
about it and, I am needless tosay, I was uninjured.
So thank you, lord, on that one, but it's great to be with you.
I often say you know, if youstruggle to get in the word, do
it with your first cup of coffee, and I have my first cup of
(02:27):
coffee here.
Some of you may be on yourfifth cup of coffee, and that's
okay.
So again, go grab your cup ofcoffee.
Some of you may be on yourfifth cup of coffee, and that's
okay.
So again, go grab your cup ofcoffee, grab your Bible and
let's go ahead and let's win ourfirst battle.
Heavenly Father, lord, we thankyou.
Thank you for waking up thismorning, thank you for the
protections that you gave uslast night.
You protected our family andour nation.
(02:50):
We thank you for the trillionsof cells in our body that had to
work near perfectly just for usto wake up this morning.
And when you take that and youmultiply that time by all the
people we love and know, who arewho woke up this morning as
well, we're so thankful.
(03:14):
We thank you for your commongrace, your creation that
testifies to your existence, specificity of your creation,
the complexity of your creation, beauty of DNA, code of DNA and
(03:36):
stars and man it's justoverwhelming.
So we thank you for those, lord.
We thank you for the heavens, the sun, the earth, the stars.
We thank you for them all.
And we also thank you foreverything on this earth.
Thank you for all the animals, the plants, thank you for
(04:00):
everything, from the tallestpeak to the deepest ocean and
everything between.
Thank you for it all.
Thank you for sunrises andsunsets, cool breeze on a hot
day like today, well, warm fireon a cold day.
Thank you for the sounds ofbirds in the morning, children's
(04:25):
laughter.
We thank you for taste of goodfood and good drink.
We thank you for everything,lord.
We thank you for the people inour lives.
Help us to always treasure thepeople you've put in our lives,
(04:49):
no matter how long they're inour lives.
Help us to leave nothing unsaid.
But we ask now that give us allthe gift of discernment to read
your word as we deliberatelypursue you today and every day.
You give us the gift ofdiscernment to find truth, your
(05:14):
truth.
There's only one truth and youare it.
Help us to discern your truthfrom your word.
May, this time that we pursueyou please you.
May it glorify you and pleaseyou.
May it glorify you and only you, and may it bring us all closer
(05:41):
to you.
In Jesus' name, we pray amen.
All right, battle one done.
Those of you who can't see, this is Lauren saying good
morning and this is her sayinggrateful.
I don't know if that's agenuinely wide smile for being
(06:04):
woken up or if that is a grittedteeth smile for me tickling her
this morning.
So, yeah, today we're inProverbs, we're going to be in
Proverbs for a while, andyesterday, you know, we talked
about Proverbs 1, and we wentover and we pointed out the
(06:28):
order in which God droppedwisdom and how he warned and
gave wisdom, and it was, ofcourse wisdom starts with fear
of the Lord.
Now, in Jesus' pro-culture today, you know everyone, no one
(06:49):
wants to fear the Lord, nobodywants to be afraid of anything,
and that's correct In Jesus' broculture today.
There's very little reverencein modern churchianity today and
(07:13):
I think that a lot of us wouldbe more faithful in our walks if
we had a healthy fear in all ofthe Lord that when we go before
the universe, the Lord of theuniverse, creator of the
universe, creator of everything, lord of everything.
We will all stand naked beforewith every motivation known and
(07:38):
everything we ever did, if wetreated that with a lot more
reverence.
A lot more reverence, so, um,so, and that's where it all
begins, Because if you fear Godabove everything else, you have
nothing else to fear.
God is with us.
He can be against us Now,everyone will be against us, but
(08:02):
it doesn't matter because Godis with us.
So again, fear of the Lord isthe beginning of all wisdom, and
that's going to be reinforcedhere in chapter two.
So I'm going to go ahead andshare my screen and I'm using
Logos here, which I'm gettingbetter with Great program, but,
(08:22):
man, pretty steep learning curveto be able to use it on the fly
and in a slick, clean way.
So so let's do that.
So share screen, no, okay.
(08:45):
So I think you guys can seethat it's kind of gotten out my
(10:10):
ugly mug, which is okay.
Let's see if I can trysomething else here.
Maybe that works better.
Okay, now let's go to the otherone.
There we go, alright.
So I'll just slide over for alittle bit.
So my son, oh sorry, yahwehgives wisdom.
(10:32):
This is Proverbs, chapter 2,and I'm reading out of the
legacy standard bible, um, theesv is great too.
I often read that there's goingto be slight differences in
words, but the meaning should bewill be the same.
So here here we go.
My son, if you will receive mywords and treasure my
(10:55):
commandments within you, to makeyour ear pay attention to
wisdom, incline your heart todiscernment, or if you call out
for understanding, give yourvoice for discernment, if you
seek her as silver and searchfor her as hidden treasure and
(11:17):
search for her in treasure, sothat's if you do all those
things, then you will understandthe fear of Yahweh, right.
So there it is again.
Right, setting the standard, setting the base, the
foundations of everything is thefear of Yahweh, okay.
And it's not a terror orwhatever.
It is a healthy, reverent awe.
(11:39):
It's respecting Yahweh andgiving due respect and deference
to the creator of the universe.
So, and find the knowledge ofGod right.
So you fear God, you'll knowknowledge.
(12:00):
Have knowledge of God, forYahweh gives wisdom from his
mouth.
From his mouth comes knowledge, come knowledge and discernment.
He stores up sound wisdom forthe upright, a shield to those
who walk in integrity, to guardthe paths of justice, and he
keeps the way of his holy ones.
(12:20):
So scroll down, right down tothe top again.
Look at that language.
This is designed to speak tothe warrior in you Shield, right
, these are the paths of justice.
Again, the war language is realin the Bible and it's because
(12:41):
men are wired to be protectorsand not pacifist bush balls of
today.
God speaks to us in his divineword Kindle that in you.
Okay, so then you willunderstand righteousness and
(13:02):
justice and equity.
Every good track and justiceand equity, every good track,
wisdom will enter your heart andknowledge will be pleasant to
your soul.
Discretion will keep you.
Discernment will guard you.
Discernment is good judgment, solid judgment, being able to
(13:23):
see what's good and what's bad.
Okay, to deliver you from theway of evil.
Now here is going to be somemore warnings.
Okay, again, step one fear ofGod.
Step two is to deliver you fromthe way of evil the man who
speaks perverse things, fromthose who forsake the paths of
(13:45):
uprightness, from those whoforsake the paths of uprightness
To walk in the ways of darkness, who are glad to do evil and
they rejoice in the perversityof evil, whose paths are crooked
and who are devious in theirtracks.
Okay, we'll stop there.
All right.
(14:12):
So, all right.
So, starting in verse 12, todeliver you from way of evil,
all right, the man who speaksperverse things, again, avoiding
those who drag you further awayfrom God and God's intent for
you.
And unfortunately, all of us, aswe talked about yesterday, had
(14:38):
friends or a friend group thatdid this, who were evil, whose
heart was debased, who wouldpull you, whether it's towards
drugs or you know, or countlessother things out there that you
know, pornography, the bad crowdthat we're all that we're all,
(15:00):
most of us were not raisedChristian and, in the proper
environments, had to, um, wereconstantly tempted by, you know,
this reminds me, um, till weget common here, um, which
(15:23):
reminds me of somethingyesterday.
So we homeschool our kids andwe took Warren, took our
daughter, well, took our wholefamily, to a gymnastics studio
and the gymnastics studio therewere kids there and you know,
and obviously not verywell-discipled Christian kids,
(15:47):
because there was a lot of meangirl, little girl stuff going on
and a lot of monstrous badchildren behavior, with a lazy
coach who didn't correct, um,correct behavior or adjust
things.
Um, and you know, my daughterwasn't able to pick up on the
(16:11):
mean-spirited things and thewicked things that the children
were doing around her.
But my wife and you know, andmy mother, who was saved two
years ago here, baptized on theproperty, very long, hard life,
godlessness, who she oftenquestions, are the way we raise
(16:33):
our kid, you know, being on thefarm, disciple, not a lot of
exposure to the wickedness ofthe world.
She, even she immediately sawthe difference in the children
and agreed with you know thatgave her a pause to do that.
(16:53):
So again, paul Washer, the wisePaul Washer, you know, describes
sin in a very good way.
He said, you know, sinfulpeople would fit into this
category.
And when sin springs up in yourlife and you're, you know,
(17:17):
walking through the jungle orwherever you're at, and a Cobra
pops up, and when a Cobra popsup, you've got, you know, a
second, a couple seconds tofigure out what you're going to
do.
We're either going to run, getaway from it, right, because the
cobra represents sin, or you'regoing to cut its head off if
you've got a machete on yourhand or whatever.
So you know, again, here's theBible warning us about hanging
(17:45):
out with people and beingtempted by the world to pull you
away from God.
All right.
So let's now pick it up in verse16.
To deliver you from the strangewoman, from the foreign woman
who flatters you with her words, who forsakes the close
(18:06):
companion of her youth.
So she's already left.
She's already left her husbandof her youth right and forgets
the covenant of her God, and herhouse sinks down to death and
her tracks descend to the dead.
(18:28):
All who go with her will notreturn and they will not reach
the paths of life, so that youwill walk in the way of good men
and keep the paths of therighteous.
So again, let's stop rightthere.
Let's go back up a little bitto again.
Now we're talking about thestrange woman, we're talking
(18:50):
about the flesh, we're talkingChristians how many men I mean?
This is rampant everywhere.
But I expect the world that Iwas a worldly man and I was a
(19:16):
lustful man and I've done everysin under the sun.
But once you are saved, onceyou declare for the Lord, once
(19:40):
you declare for the Lord, onceyou are his, the temptation to
as life beats you down, as theresponsibilities come on and
things go as your oldrelationship, the one that you
are trapped and bound by acovenant with God.
If you're not doing it right, you can drift.
Right, you can drift.
(20:01):
And as you drift, right again,we do this so often and you have
to schedule touch points withyour wife.
All right, when Lauren and Iare in God's will and we have,
you know, put God first, husbandand wife, second, kids third,
(20:26):
then everything else after that, there is no space between us.
So when, of course, the solomonwas wise, but the son of god is
wiser, absolutely, bible's allfrom god, brother.
So, um, as we go right and aswe're, because we're, like we'll
(20:51):
say, holding hands in the darkand you're walking in the dark,
I know where she is at all times.
I know if she stumbles, sheknows if I stumble, I know if
she's struggling, I know ifshe's scared, I know whatever,
just from the touch of her handstruggling.
I know if she's scared, I knowwhatever, just from the touch of
her hand.
If you don't schedule thosetouch points or if you're not
walking, that because you've hada battle or resentment happens
(21:14):
as you drift and once you losecontact and you're both walking
in the dark of this world, that's when you become
vulnerable to everything, because you don't know if
they're one inch away or milesaway.
Right, because you've letresentment and you've let the
enemy in your camp, okay, andlet the world distract, and all
(21:36):
these things.
So what happens is you driftand then all of a sudden
somebody else comes in and theywhispered honey words in your
ear and tell you how great youare, and all these things.
And it's really easy for menparticularly feel
underappreciated, and oh, I mean.
Well, I don't want to say that,it's easy for the human
(21:57):
condition, but for people tofall victim to this type of
thing.
This is why the Bible is herein the second proverb, telling
you what to do, right, what toavoid, right, so, um, so now
(22:21):
let's get down here to all, right, we, for her house sinks
down to death and her tracksdescend to the dead, and who go
with her will not return, theywill not reach, and they will
not reach the path of life.
Okay, now, that's the end, sothat you will walk in the way of
good men.
Keep the paths of the righteous.
(22:42):
The upright will dwell in theland, the blameless will remain
in it, the wicked will be cutoff from the land, the
treacherous will be torn awayfrom it.
So again, you know,heavy-hitting advice, commands,
(23:04):
um, from god, right again, ifyou just obeyed proverbs, your
life would be infinitely, um,more peaceful, more abundant,
less less dramatic, less sinful.
Right, they really are thatgood, which is why, again, I
(23:27):
recommend reading a proverbevery day for the rest of your
life and applying it to that day.
Now, as you continue to workout your sanctification, as you
work out your you know, pursueGod with fear and trembling,
you're going to be able to applythem more steadily to more
(23:50):
aspects of your life as you getbetter at this.
But if you don't know thembecause you've never read them,
well, that's impossible, right?
So again, we've got some peoplein here.
Hey, chris, terry, good to seeyou, you know, and XCore, I
(24:12):
think.
Cubed, thank you for watching, thanks for coming in, I
appreciate you.
And, of course, god is wiser.
The Son of God in God is thewisest of all.
So God bless you guys.
(24:35):
Let's go ahead and fight ourthird battle now, which is to
pray for one another and blessone another, and ask for God's
blessing for the day.
Heavenly Father, lord, we thankyou.
We thank you for this timetogether.
Thank you for the brothers andsisters who join me to lock
shields together, come togetherto invest in one another and to
deliberately pursue you with allthat they are.
(24:56):
Lord, I pray that you wouldsend them out today, set divine
appointments, give theirtestimony to share your gospel.
I pray that you would equip usall to be lights in the world,
that people would see us andknow that we are yours.
Lord, have people wash up onour beach with questions that we
(25:22):
can answer?
The answer is always you.
Lord.
I pray a prayer of peace andprotection over this fellowship,
over our troops overseas, ourfirst responders at home, our
veterans of yesteryear, ourtroops overseas, our first
responders at home, our veteransof yesteryear.
Lord, I pray for my belovedAmerica.
(25:48):
I pray that you would bless her, that she would turn from her
sin, hit her knees, repent, seekyour face, and that you would
(26:10):
see her and heal her so that wecan once again be one nation
under God, indivisible, withliberty and justice.
Lord, I pray for our leaders, that you would use them to do
your will and only your will.
So now I call this fellowshipof attention to put on the full
armor of God.
Pick up the strap on the shieldof faith, pick up the sword of
(26:37):
the spirit and boldly stepforward to join the shield wall,
locking shields to the left andright as we march forward to
take ground for your kingdom, for your glory forever.
In Jesus' name we pray.
Amen.
All right, everyone.
That is all I got, brandy, sogood to see you this morning.
That's all I got for you thismorning.
(26:57):
I will see you tomorrow.
We'll be on Proverbs 3.
