Speaker 1 (00:00):
In the church. We are not growing the church as
a whole. We are still chosen and far too many
of us we're just comfortable. We are settled for where
we are. We know that it's not enough, we know
that it's something more, But we have lost our zeal.
We have lost our zest. We are complacent. We want
people to take a lot ear so we can feel

(00:21):
comfortable where we are. We don't want people to challenge
us anymore. We don't want to know one to tell
us that there's more to it than that we are.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
It's time for Sunday Supper and time to feast on
God's word. Sunday Supper is a ministry of christ Church
for the End Times. Christ Church for the End Times
is a non denominational teaching church ministry. Our mission is
to help prepare God's people for life and ministry during
the times in which we lived. Join us on Wednesdays
at six thirty pm for a dynamic, practical, engaging, and

(01:11):
life changing Bible study and on Sunday mornings at ten
thirty am for a weekly church service. But for now,
let's feast at the Lord's table. Here's today's message already
in progress.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
We're talking about following the pattern.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Following the pattern first among many, I was thinking about
something that took place in my life when I first
got saved. When I first got saved, I didn't have
any suits and whatever I know I was, I guess
I was nineteen twenty years so I was nineteen when
I got saved, So this might have taken place around

(01:56):
the latter part of my nineteenth year, some portion of
my twenty years. I got saved and started going to
a Bible study, and I would wear my cut off
jeans pants and what we call that the time the
shepherd mother she said, you can't come to church like that,
So you can't be wearing those those short pants. But

(02:21):
you see, one of the things she didn't know and
probably didn't even care about, I didn't really have any clothing,
and so I started to thinking, I gotta find me
some clothes to wear the church. Now, for those that
are think about, no, we don't have a dress well,
we do have a dress code here at Christ Church
for the end Times, but it's one that's based on
the scripture that means you come modestly, you know, you know,

(02:44):
so don't don't don't come with your with your bathing
suit on, stuff like that, and with your your dress
so short when you sit on the front pew of
the or the seal of the church. And and uh,
and show you a little when we were coming up

(03:06):
and say, Daisy dukes. But Daisy Dukes had shorts on
some of these. And I know I'm getting a little
off track here, but you'll get the point. But some
of our our our feminine type, are so immodest these days.
They won't have even Daisy Dukes. They will come on

(03:26):
with short dress that's so short. And they intentionally stood
on the front row in order to see if they
can get the preacher's attention, in order to distract the.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Preacher from the message. So the preacher trying to preach
with one eye.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
One boy, Hey, y'all know what I'm saying is true.
You get up there, uh, and trying to tempt the
preacher in the pool pity you in the seed and
then in.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
The pool pit.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
And that tells you you're not thinking about the word.
You're letting the devil take over you. You're letting the
devil control you. And so, but don't ask me how
I got into that. I was talking about Mike how
did I get from my cut off to Easter Daisy Dukes?

Speaker 3 (04:23):
But we'll go on. I had this young girl to
make me a suit.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
She did a really good job, and I started thinking
I didn't have a whole lot of money and things
like that.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
That makes you.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
So I saw, I was inspired. I was a man
full of faith in and annoyinging. I said, I'm going
to make my suits. Didn't know anything about sewing. I
didn't know anything about suits. I didn't know anything about
anything except I'm going to make me a suit. And

(04:59):
we was going to go to Columbus that that that weekend,
and so I had this task. I created this task
for myself to make me a three piece suit to
wear to church that Sunday morning. And I and we
were going to leave out about Friday or Saturday morning

(05:21):
or something of that nature. So I had a few
days to make this suit. And I said, it can't
be that hard. I wasn't thinking about heart soft or anything.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
I was just going to make.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
I just knew I could do it, and so I
got me some pat Well. First I asked, I asked, well,
how do I make me a suit? They said, well,
you got to get some fabrics. You got to get
you some pattern, your pattern. You got to get you
some needle, got to get you some thread. You got
to get you a sewing machine. So I didn't have

(05:54):
any of that. So I got me. I went to
a place and got me two saw machines, one for
me and one for the girls in the church on credit. Man, Hey,
when you want to work for the Lord, go for

(06:14):
the Lord. You just go for it, you like Peter said, Lord,
if if you bid me to come you thinking about
you may sink and start whatever between nine and then
the Lord pay for those saw machines. But that's a
lower side. And so I got one for me, one
for the church, gave one to the girls for them
to make their clothing.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
And uh.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
I went to my apartment and I sat down, and
I was going to make this suit, and I didn't
know where to start. And the pastor of the of
the group, it was just a lot of young kids
just got saved on fire for the Lord. And Master
Wilson came by, and I guess he kind of saw

(06:56):
what I was trying to do, and I was. I
just had that three was all raveled up and all
that other kind of stuff. I didn't know how to
set the tension on the machine or whatever, and he said, well,
you got to set the tension on the machine. He
gave me a few pointers, and then he said, well,
you got to get the pattern to cut the material

(07:16):
out and show me how to put the pattern on
there and what have you. So skipping some of the details,
but I was committed to making sure I finished that
suit before we left.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
And I think it was probably.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Around Friday something when he came out, because I was
running out of time, and so fortunately I don't sleep
a lot, so I said, I'm not gonna go to sleep.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
I'm not gonna go to bed until I make that suit.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Some went up, somen came down, sun was about to
come up again, and I'm working on the suit, working
on the suit, and guess what, Finally, about eight o'clock
or something like that, I had that suit finished.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
The seeds wasn't as tight as they needed to be.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
When I put that thing on it it was about
twice my size.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
But I finished that suit. Couldn't wear it.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
But I finished that suit, and I said, I'm gonna
make me twenty four suits. I'm gonna make me a
so I can have at least two suits a week
or whatever. Now, I said that because I shared that story.
Because I really didn't know how to follow the pattern.

(08:37):
He showed me how to cut along the lines, and
I did that. But one of the things either he
didn't think about or he didn't tell me, is that
that pattern was designed for you to trim the pattern
to your size, you know, And so I didn't trim
the pattern. I put it down there and I just
went by the lines of what have you got the

(08:58):
things where it needs to be, and.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
I just made it.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
I made the suit, but I made it for someone
that was a bit larger than I was. But from
that experience, it gave me the experience and I.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Just kept working with it and kept working with it.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
When I finally made the googling for myself and people
start saying, man, you did that, will you make one
for me? And I just I needed more practice and
I needed more material for my owns. I said, well,
you get enough material for you, you get enough for me.
And that's how I got my first Christian wardrobe by

(09:38):
would making my own suits. And then I began to
charge four of them and whatever, and got pretty good
at it. Now I said all of that to say
that as believers, there's a pattern that we should follow,
and we as believers are not following the pattern. Talking

(10:00):
about growing, and I just want to give you a
few definitions here just to kind of get us started.
When you look at growth, growth is the process of
developing and maturing and increasing. We in our lives in
the church, we are not growing. As I shared with you,

(10:23):
We're not going to just go through all of that today.
One of the things we try to illustrate to you
in our last message is that the church as a whole,
we are still we are still children, and.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
We are comfortable in being children.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
I think was past Angelo earlier talking about you know,
becoming comfortable, becoming settled with where you are, and far
too many of us we're just comfortable. We are settled
for where we are. We know that it's not enough,
we know that it's something more, but we have lost
our zeal, we have lost our zest.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
We are complacent.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
We just want we want people to tickle our ears
so we can feel comfortable where we are. We don't
want people to challenge us anymore. We don't want to
want no one to tell us there's more to it
than that. We don't want anyone to tell us that
you got to risk in order to accomplish some things.
Sometimes you have to leave from where you are in

(11:18):
order to get to where you're going. In fact, how
will you ever get to where you're going if you
don't leave from where you are, if you don't leave
your present place, and you got to risk. The thing
about leaving the safety of home, the safety of normalcy,
is that you don't know what's around the corner. But

(11:40):
if you go back and think about it, you have
to take a risk to get to your present place.
There are patterns to things in life, and if we
learn those patterns and learn how to follow those patterns,
then we can literally be assured of the outcome if
we follow the pattern. Fortunate thing in the church, we're

(12:02):
not following the pattern. We don't even know what the
pattern is. And so what we've done we've made up
things on our own. We design our own way of
doing things. But so when we're talking about growth, growth
is the process of developing, It is the process of maturing,
is the process of increasing in our lives. We have

(12:26):
to realize that we have to continue that growth process
we've got to continue to grow, We've got to continue
to increase, and in that process, it's going to require
some risk. It's going to require all of us to
be in our uncomfortable place. We're going to have to
face some challenges that we would rather not face. We're

(12:48):
going to have to make investments that we'd rather not
invest in. But that's all the part of growth. And
one of the things I found is that if there's growth,
there's normally there is a pattern to growth. I was
thinking also, when you ride down the highways and whatever,
speaking primarily here in America and other places, you would

(13:11):
see what I'm about to say almost all around you.
But as you're driving around highways and so forth, you
when you look at individuals harvesting trees, and they will
cut trees and then they would replant those trees. When
they replant those trees, you can tell the trees that
are replanted because as you're riding down the highways, you

(13:34):
can look to your left or your right, and you
can look at the trees and they're all in a
straight line. Because they was planted, not by God, that
was planted by man. They still grow, they still do.
Whatever trees do. But there's those straight lines, and that's
done for a reason. When you get ready to cut
that tree again, you can go right down that path

(13:54):
that got the wi the where it needs to be
for the tree and for the equipment.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
But with God, it's like God just throw things out there.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
See when we look at it, we consider it to
be randomness because it's all over the place. Ji Lead
is one of the largest razor companies literally in the world,
definitely in this country, and they do a lot of
testing and exploration. They study how hair grow so they

(14:24):
can know how to cut it. And one of the
things je Lad found out is that hair doesn't grow
in straight lines. Sometimes when you part, your hair come
down in the straight line. But if you look close enough,
one of the things you let found out that no,
it's not a straight line.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
Every hair on your head is random.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
When ja Lett put that magnified that hair under magnifying glass,
or that skin under magnifying glass, what they found is
that hair doesn't grow in a straight line. It goes
that way, it goes that way, you go that up, down,
all that other kind of way. Let me tell you something,
how else you're gonna get a full hair coverage. It's
all over the place, and that's why they're the best

(15:06):
razors on the market. So I said all of that
to say that with God, it seems as if that's
just randomness all over, but there's a reason for it.
There's a pattern that's being followed because what we consider
to be randomness is order. Because God knows that if

(15:28):
when the wind blow, as opposed to the wind being
able to come across your skin in a certain way
for you to catch colds and whatever, you got another
when the wind blow that way, you got another hair
going the.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
Other way in order to keep you warm.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
When you look at the trees and the forest and
what have you, one of the things that people don't
see is that what those trees are doing. The trees
are natural wind break and so when the winds come
up and whatever, because of the randomness of.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Those trees, is slow.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
The progression of the wind, and it helps to control
the erosion and all that other kind of stuff because
of the order of God. God follows a pattern. And
this is why I was sharing with us that growth.
Even though you don't see the pattern, the pattern exists
because if there's gonna be order, there has to be

(16:21):
a pattern. God didn't just decide to get up one day,
I'm gonna make me a planet or whatever. God started
with a plan. And if there's a plan, there's a pattern.
And God follows the pattern. And therefore, when you look
at the Genesis account in creation, everything fits a pattern.
God didn't put cows on the earth before grass came,
did he No? He didn't put grass on the earth

(16:45):
before you had the son, did he no? Because you
needed photosynthesis or whatever. All those things that we are
discovering now God put into place and put into order
from the beginning. And people have a tendency to say,
I don't know if there's a God. This is why
the scripture says the fool has said in his heart

(17:08):
there is no God, are no God. You gotta be
a fool. That's why God is saying. The proof, the
evidence that I exist is creation. If you want to
know whether or not God exists, look at creation. Nothing
comes from itself. The only self what's the term I

(17:28):
use for this, The only the only indi visual, The
only thing that self existent and the only thing that
can be self existence is God. Because once something create God,
then whoever, then whatever created God becomes the God. God

(17:48):
is the only self existent one. And if God is
self exists, and he doesn't have to prove himself to
you that he exists. What God is saying, if you
want evidence of my existence, just look at creation. So
you can poo poo the Genesis account, but just look
at the order of things, look at what's recorded in Genesis,

(18:09):
and look around you and you'll see all of that
is still right before you. And if you can't believe that,
believe in God, not believing in God, whatever you do,
you that's your thing.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
But you ain't gonna change nothing. You can't.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
God is not gonna not exist because you don't believe
that he exists, just like you might not believe that
you exist. That don't mean you don't exist. I just
have to throw this in. You don't believe. You a
girl and you got everything it takes to make to
be a girl. Ain't gonna change nothing. You're gonna have

(18:49):
it cut off. You can have it tough, nip, whatever
the case may be. Guess what you are still what
God has granted you be you a girl. If you
don't believe you are man man, that's fine, Nip tuck.
Cut to whatever it is, played yourself. You're not gonna
change all of God. You're still a man, and don't

(19:13):
believe those lives. Well, you can't help who you love.
You can't.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
Everybody determine who they will and will not love.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
If you can't help what you love, how can you
go to the store and say I don't like that.
If you can't, well, I just love you. You can't
say I don't like spinish, I don't like beasts. If
you can't help what you love, they serve you speaking.
Oh I love that they serve you by Oh I
love that they serve you dirt.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
Oh I love that. If you can't help what you love,
don't listen.

Speaker 1 (19:46):
To those devils. That's the exception, and you fall for
that stuff. So I just can't help it. The devil made.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
Me do it.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
That ain't made you do nothing. The devil just presented
an opportunity that was in your heart anyway. The Bible
says every man is tempted when it's drawing away of
his own lust and entice. The only thing the devil
does is give you the enticement. And because you want
to do it anyway, here, you gotta forsake that stuff.

(20:17):
There's a pattern that underlies growth, and if you want
to have successful growth, you grow according to the pattern.
If you want to have successful life, you live your
life according to the pattern. That word pattern is talking
about resemblance. When you hear this word, when it comes

(20:39):
to pattern, you're talking about a die. And when we're
talking about a die, we're not talking about what you
put your clothes. You know, what you do to your
clothes when you want to change color. We're not talking
about dropping dead or anything like that. We're talking about
a casting or or a form of such that you

(20:59):
hear out in order to form an image or whatever
you want to and then you pour something in it,
and all of a sudden, it comes out looking like
the dye that was cast. And so when you look
at it, that word pattern, you're talking about a die
or a stamp. You know if a lot of a

(21:21):
lot of times we use this term about rubber stamping,
and what happens is that with a rubber stamp, you
create this this this stamp we call a stamp of
this little thing that has whatever you want on it.
Then you put it in the ink whatever and you
stamp it or whatever you do it it is a
die that's cast and from the time you cast that,

(21:42):
guess what you get the same thing.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
Over and over and over and over. Amen.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
Another thing about pattern of pattern, A pattern is a
sample of something else a pattern and also a model
of things and so forth. And so when we look
at patterns, that's the context that we're talking about. I
do understand that a pattern could be these these decorative,

(22:11):
repeated designs and so forth, but we're not really talking
about that when it comes to patterns, even though some
aspects of that is applicable. But by and large, we're
talking about a model or a design to be used
as a guide or that can be used that which

(22:35):
can be used as a as for a set of
instructions for us to follow. And so those are the
two words that you want to always be mindful of
as we discuss the things that we're going to share
with you. I want to come I want to share
a couple of scriptures with you also as we begin.

(22:56):
The first is Exodus chapter twenty. We're gonna look at
verse one through ten, and then I'm going to also
share with you Romans chapter eight, verse twenty nine, and
then John chapter fifteen and verse sixteen Exodus chapter twenty
five one through eight, and the Lord spake unto Moses,

(23:20):
saying in the pause that just a second. Now the
children are Visrael then brought out of Egypt. They're going
through the Promised Land. God is now positioning them to
move into the Promised Land. And now remember us, one
of the things that we shaid, God is a god
of order. And if you're going to have that order,

(23:43):
and if you want that order, repeat it. You got
to have a pattern. And there are things that God
want to bring into this realm, and in order for
it to come into this rem he has to give
you some guide, some instructions for you to go by
in order for that manifestation to take place. And so
what God is doing here, He's preparing to give a

(24:07):
pattern to Moses to follow when it comes to constructing
the tabernacle. And so that tabernacle isn't just something for
them to do for a religious exercise. That pattern God
has given in them, that pattern for that tabernacle for

(24:28):
God to put something or maybe I should say, take
something from the spiritual, take something from the heavenlies and
bring into the earth. They bring into the natural in
order for him to spend some time among his people.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
Now that's important.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
As we do this, we got to we also have
to understand that we are the temple of God. And
so if we're the temple of God, God isn't going
to lead the construction of your life up to you,
up to someone else. God has a pattern for you.
This is why Jeremiah with my Bride's favorite script Jeremiah

(25:08):
with Is twenty nine and eleven is when God says,
I know the plan that I have for you. God
is saying I already got the pattern for your life.
I have a pattern for your life to follow. And
that's what we have to understand in our lives. God
has a pattern for our lives to follow. The reason
why we are not more successful, the reason why we
don't accomplish more than we should accomplish, it because we're

(25:32):
not following the pattern that God has laid.

Speaker 3 (25:34):
Out for our lives.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
If you want success in life, follow God's pattern for
your life and you will see enormous success.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
In your life.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
Don't equate success all the time with dollars and cents
and popularity and power and all those things. Those things
are deceptive, they are elusive. Those things will get you
off track, and you will never become that which God
has or for you to be. And far too many
people are not becoming that which God has ordain for

(26:06):
them to be for a multiplicity of different reasons. The
chief among those reasons is they are choosing not to
follow the pattern that God have place for their lives.
We marry people because we want certain things that we want.
We don't want to follow God's pattern. We go into

(26:26):
occupations and set up businesses and stuff because of somebody
what somebody else want, or some other someone's pattern, or
what have you. The Bible instructs us to acknowledge the
Lord in all of our ways. Then he will direct
our paths. And He's going to direct your path according
to the pattern that He's laid out for your life.

(26:49):
Sometimes one other person's pattern will have to fit up
with your pattern in order for you and with others
in order to create the tapestry of God. And you're
gonna see this even when it comes to the tabernacle.
So we don't just need a tent. We need something
to go in the tent. Someone may be a candlestick,
someone may be a pan or something for the hands

(27:12):
to be watched. Someone may have to beat the curtains,
some may women have to do something. And you may
not like what God has created you to do or
to be, But guess what God has created you for
a specific reason and purpose. And you are just as important,
just as valuable as anything else that's in the pattern.

(27:35):
And verse one of Exodus twenty five, the Lord's spaken
to Moses saying verse two, speaking to the children of Israel,
that they bring me an offering of every man that
giveth it.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
Willingly with his heart, Ye shall take my offering.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
And I guess I'm gonna have to spend some time here,
even though I didn't intend to. What I intended to
just read this, let you hear it and go on.
But I guess I got to follow the pattern.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
Right.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
See, some of us we don't understand give. And I'm
not saying this in order for you to have some
kind of guilt, conscience or whatever in order to send
pastor bend at money if you're picking this up on
radio or YouTube or television, whatever.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
But if you if.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
You're motivated to give, please do so. That's not the
reason for it. Know, when it comes to you all
in here, always say you do you, you do whatever,
and this scripture is gonna tell you why I take
the approach to that that I take. Listen to this.
He's saying, speak to the children of Israel that they
bring me and offering. So give the people an opportunity

(28:45):
to give. It's not that those other things are not important,
but when it comes to that which is most important,
then you give that short thrift and you just go
on like God is just pleased with everything that you did.
We're sad mistaken because we're not far the pattern of God.

Speaker 2 (29:01):

Join me on this podcast as I navigate the murky waters of human behavior, current events, and personal anecdotes through in-depth interviews with incredible people—all served with a generous helping of sarcasm and satire. After years as a forensic and clinical psychologist, I offer a unique interview style and a low tolerance for bullshit, quickly steering conversations toward depth and darkness. I honor the seriousness while also appreciating wit. I’m your guide through the twisted labyrinth of the human psyche, armed with dark humor and biting wit.
