(00:00):
Hi, and welcome to Timeless Truths, where we discover
enduring wisdom through the lensof classic quotes here on the
Classic Advice Podcast. I'm Scarlett, your host.
Today's quote is this. You get what you fight for, not
what you wish for, UN quote. And when I was looking up to see

(00:21):
who this was attributed to, credited to, it is really close
to two other quotes, one by Daniel Milstein, which is you
don't get what you wish for, youget what you work for.
And another one by Clint Anderson with you get what you
work for, not what you wish for.So we'll, we'll attribute it to

(00:41):
those two, two people, Daniel and Clinton.
I, I think this is something that is very, I think it's
something important to keep in the back of your mind.
And you know, it's if we sit andthink that life is going to

(01:07):
happen to us, we can be waiting for a really long time to get
what we wish for. Dreams and goals and
aspirations. Most good things you got to
fight for them, whether that would be self improvement.

(01:33):
It's really hard to improve on yourself and be very self aware
to catch the things that you need to improve upon.
It's also very relatable to youryour marriage.

(01:58):
You know, me and Roy are really, really close and I think we have
a really great relationship. But do we have to fight for our
marriage at times? For sure.
We're two very different people. We're not always going to see
things the same. We're not always going to agree
on things, but learning how to fight the problem instead of

(02:19):
fighting each other is very key in a marriage.
The same goes for parenting, youknow, or, or working with your
Co workers or you know, if you want to have good solid
relationships, you're going to have to fight for them.
What about your goals, dreams and aspirations?
You know that the book, my book that I've mentioned on the

(02:39):
podcast before, I'm trying to write a novel.
I'm going to have to fight for that.
I'm going to have to really workfor it.
My dream, our dream of building our homestead.
It's not a glamorized thing to live in a camper.
And there are going to be trialsand tribulations that we're

(03:02):
going to have to fight for if wewant to get our wish at building
our cabin, which we're in the thick of it now we're.
We're living in it and this is our only option at the moment,
so we're going to have to make it work.
But keeping in mind, you know, when things do get tough,

(03:24):
because yesterday was a little bit of a tough day for me, I was
starting to get down because we're getting a lot of frost
coming through in our campers. So trying to navigate how to fix
it and it's, you know, it's one of those things we're going to
have to fight for to get our wish.

(03:44):
We've got to keep going through the tough times and and we will
come out the other side if we keep fighting.
I'm going to leave it at that for now, but I'll repeat the
quote one more time for you before I let you go.

(04:06):
And it says, quote, you get whatyou fight for, not what you wish
for, UN quote. And we'll give that to Daniel
Milstein and Clint Adders and Clint Anderson.
Thank you guys for hanging out with me today.

(04:28):
Go fight for what you are wishing for and your wishes will
come true. Till next time, take care.
Bye.
