Hi Friends,

In this episode I share a quote about where our focus is. I went through a tough time last year and I found that when I focus too hard on that, when my thoughts are consumed by some emotional pain I couldn't look ahead to the wonderful things coming and that I could be doing now... "You will never see the great things ahead of you if you keep looking at the bad things behind you." By Author Unknown.

(00:00):
Hi, and welcome to Timeless Shrews, where we discover
enduring wisdom through the lensof classic quotes here on the
Classic Advice Podcast. My name is Scarlett, your host.
Today's quote is this quote. You will never see the great
things ahead of you if you keep looking at the bad things behind
you, UN quote. And I can't, I couldn't find

(00:25):
anybody that it was specificallyattributed to.
So that just goes to author unknown.
Last week I talked a little bit about the importance of taking
some time to reflect on where you came from, say last year,
where you were at last year. And when I, when I saw this

(00:48):
quote, I thought it was, it was a good one to, to carry on from
that in that sometimes when we reflect on where we were last
year, maybe we didn't grow as much as we wanted to, or maybe
there's just a lot of hurt that happened last year.

(01:09):
And for me, I, I went through a hard time last year right around
this time of year. And normally I'm not really
nostalgic about anniversaries ofstuff like that, but for
whatever reason, it seemed to hit me a little bit this year.
And around this time of year, I went through something really

(01:32):
difficult. But now it I I stopped
podcasting, I stopped writing inmy book.
And I'm going to expand on all of this on Wednesday, so I'm not
going to go too deep in it rightnow.
But I went through a hard time and and I had to stop myself

(01:54):
from thinking about it too much, about the bad that happened last
year because it's done, it's over with, and now I need to
move on. Now I'm using that experience to
fuel some frustration, some anger at the fact that I stopped

(02:16):
podcasting and stopped writing to move forward and not let
something like that happen again.
That will, that will have power on me so much that that I
stopped doing the things that I love.
I'm not going to let it happen again.
I, I, I won't. And it was a big learning

(02:38):
experience for me as well. These past couple of weeks when
I've been thinking about it thatI'm not going to give, I'm not
going to give that power away again.
Did it hurt yet? Did I need to take time, feel
the icky feelings and process myemotions?
Like I say lots of times on here, stay and process your

(02:59):
emotions. Feel the bad, feel the ick
because I like to just push things down and not feel
anything. No feel it and be sad if you
need to. But also don't get stuck.
Don't get stuck at looking at the what's behind you that it
drakes down here today. All right, I'm going to leave it
there for now. We'll continue this on

(03:21):
Wednesday, but I'll read it to you one more time.
Quote. You will never see the great
things ahead of you if you keep looking at the bad things behind
you. End Quote.
And that is just a unknown author.
I couldn't find anybody that it was attributed to.
So keep looking ahead, you guys.Keep hoping, keep wishing, keep

(03:46):
tracing your dreams, and keep looking ahead to those
wonderful, great things that arecoming.
Until next time, take care. Bye.
