How iconic was it? And new ever Man Seek? I
love this one. And we are joined by Australian artist
Carla Weeby. She's heading on tour supporting Beth McCarthy very soon,
which is super exciting, and she just dropped her brand
new single, Life's in Awful Mess. Congratulations on the new sing.
(01:00):
What was it like working on it?
Speaker 2 (01:02):
I went back this morning and looked at my voice
memos and I found like the earliest idea of the
song and it's just really cool to see how it started.
The chorus lyrics were completely different and yeah, and then
I just I got in with a producer named Ben
Oldland and we just yeah finished the song.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
I love that.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
That must be so cool when you're first working on
a song and you look back at your voice notes,
then you're like, oh my gosh, like we've turned that
from that to this.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
I love that part of it. Like I always go
back and I try and find the earliest version because
I'm like, that's so cool that we can take this
little idea and now it's a song and people singing it.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
And there's one bit in the song it's like two
minutes thirty five ish. How it's the end of the
chorus and there's like a I don't know how to
describe it, but it's like that moment sing it. It's like,
I don't know, I'm bad to singing, but it's like
a not like a done done Dune kind of thing.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
It's like dun du to like the big the hits.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Yes, I was like, this is so cool. Thank you More.
Speaker 1 (02:00):

And you're heading on tour soon with Beth McCarthy, which
is super exciting.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yeah, so excited. I haven't played shows since I think
it's maybe March or April. I'm more than ready to
get back on the road. I'm very excited.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
That'd be so good as well, like playing new music
to the audience and everything as well.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Yeah, well, yeah, I've never I've never performed like this one.
Life's an awful mess, so that will be a first.
I'm so excited about that. And yeah, a couple other
unreleased ones and then some of the fan favorites will
be there as well.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
And who are some artists that inspired you as well?
Growing up?
Speaker 2 (02:50):
I always loved Abba, I grew up my mum's favorite artist, whatever,
but Avril Levigne was a massive influence on me when
I first wanted to become a singer. Justin Bieber, I
would say Taylor swiftly on as well. I learn a
lot of her songs on guitars. So they're the kind
of artists that I think inspired me to start my
musical journey.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
I love as well, like they're a mixture of artists
as well, like from Abba, Taylor Swift, justin. I love
that it's a different variety of artists who have inspired
you as well.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Think if I have to say my taste is pop music,
I love pop music. But yeah, they're quite quite different.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
If any of those artists you know, go on to
like Avro, Lavina anything, you have to go on their
tour with them, I think.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
She's I think she's touring them. I don't know if
she's coming here, but she's touring. So I'm gonna start
manifesting that one from now.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
I've got a rapid round of questions for you. Yep,
what was the first concept that you went to? Hillary
d Oh my god, Hilary Da Yeah, that's so cool.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Yeah, which is amazing.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Yeah. And how would you describe your music in three words?
Speaker 2 (03:50):
I guess vintage inspired, honest, like romantic, not necessarily in
like a love romantic way, but I think a lot
of my melodies I describe as like romantic kind of
cinematic melodies. So love. It's been more than three.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
That's all right. And what you go to coffee order?
Speaker 2 (04:09):
I'm not a big coffee person, but a decaf oat
milk latte with Honey.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
And what's your favorite TV show?
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Love Yellowstone?
Speaker 3 (04:17):
And if you could have a superpower, what would it be.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
I would want to fly.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
What's something on your bucket list?
Speaker 2 (04:23):

is something I'd love to do. I want to swim
in the wild with orca oils in Norway. And thank
you so much for the jack, Thank you, thank you
so much.
