Speaker 3 (00:03):

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Counting down the biggest songs in the country and around.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
The world, as voted by you.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
All Right here, baby, Hello, it's Jem hanging out with
you for your Saturday night. You can get in touch anytime.
Countdown with Jem on Socials tonight on the show. I
can't wait to introduce you to New York artist Hayes Warner.
She is so talented and her latest single sample No
Doubts iconic hit just a Girl. You are gonna love it.

(00:34):
We have heaps of music from.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Be a Doctor and a Good Be, Mley.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Sarrus and Pharrell and Ariana Grande Kems. You're gonna hear
these songs somewhere in the countdown. I'm super excited to
introduce you to American artist Hayes Warner. You're gonna love her.
Her music's pop rock and if you loved No Doubt
growing up, I mean, who does it? They're iconic. Her

(00:59):
latest she samples their song and she is hanging out
with us right now. Hey, Hey, so nice to meet you,
and congratulations on your brandy single justa Girl. It is
so amazing. I love the vibes to the song and
it samples no doubts just a Girl, which is amazing.
What was it like working on that collaboration?

Speaker 2 (01:19):
I mean, so I collaborated this song with Billy B
who's a New York City rapper, and Kevin Rudolph, who
you know, guitar icon.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
He has let it Rock. He's just amazing. Billy B.
I DMed. I've always been a fan of her.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
The second I'm in this part of this song, I
was like, I want another female perspective on this song,
someone that I love, someone that I look up to.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
So I just called DM her.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
I was like, hey, huge fan of yours, what do
you think of this instrumental?

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Like trying to act chill about it.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
But she responded right away, and she's just the most
like loving, bubbly person ever. She came up with her
verse in like an hour. She's amazing, She's a mother.
She just she adds a lot to the song.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
That's like cool, how you just DMed her? And then
the rest.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Shot my shot.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
I tell that all the time now, I'm like it
kind of it was kind of a flirty. I was like, hey,
she she responded.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Because it came out an International Women's Day as well,
which was perfect.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I'm like, it wasn't planned random, We've planned for International
Women's Day.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
It just it felt like a good day for it.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Yeah, that's so cool. And are you guys working on
a music video for it as well? Because I've seen
you guys post of like snippets.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Some little snippets. We have something coming, so I'm really
excited about the video.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
It's it's very like performance heavy. We took some inspell
from the No Doubt video and I really love it.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Your ladies single just a Girl's samples No Doubts, Just
a Girl? What was it about that song that you loved?

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Well?

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Number one, I'm biggest No Doubt fan, Like, way before
I even did this song, I've always said No Doubt
is my number one inspiration for like.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Why I want to make music.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Number two, I think it's just when she released this song,
it was, you know, groundbreaking. No one was really talking
about female empowerment in the way that the song did,
and it just kind of like broke boundaries.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
It was a huge moment and a huge hit. I
still listened to it. Everyone still loves it. It went
viral on TikTok.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
It still means a lot to so many people, and
so I just thought to bring attention to what she
said and not you know, change or alter or anything
about what she was saying in her song.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Bring relevant to the fact that literally very little.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Has changed since it came out in nineteen ninety five.
So I just thought it was just still a really
relevant song. I still love it, and I wanted to
do a little twenty twenty four twist on it.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
I love that especially like her being such a huge
influence on you as well, like it, Yes, it's so
cool you got to release this song, and Kevin Rudolph
as well, like he's behind let It Rock, like that
song I remember hearing high.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Oh yeah, you don't even know how many let It
Rock jokes I make like it's like I need to
calm down.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
But that song too, I like grew up on that song.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
So it's just been like a crazy whirlwind of a release,
this one.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
And you've been working on your debut EP. What's it
been like your experience working on that, because that's massive,
like your first piece of work.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
It's crazy just like it also, like you were saying,
like a piece of work. I want it as a
whole to each like be different but all like cohesive.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
And so it's been like I've been releasing music now for.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Like a year and a half and making it my
whole life and just kind of like figuring out what
songs of mine that I've written throughout my life are
meaningful now to me and meaningful for that project now.
And I think that this just a girl single kind
of does. There's a lot that I pull just because
one is such a huge inspiration to me. There's a
lot about this single that is going to be relevant
on my new EP, whether that's like sarcastic lyricism or

(04:33):
you know, definitely rock is a huge element that I
pull from.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
And I'm gonna rap a rat of questions for you.
How would you describe your music in three words?

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Sassy in your face? There's like three words empowering. I
just like cal hoorns.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
But there you go. Yeah, that's all right. And what's
one of your favorite places to visit?

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Okay, my dream destination is actually Australia. I hand I
need to go.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
To Australia, but my favorite place to visit is I went.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
To Austin, Texas for south By Southwest, and it was
just like in so beautiful weather.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
It was warm, the atmosphere. Love Love Austin, Texas.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Now, what's the film that you never get tired of? Watching?

Speaker 3 (05:15):
The Truman Show?

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Because I remember watching that when I was in high school.
In my media class, we watched it and I was like,
oh my gosh, this is wild. How is everyone acting
around him? His whole life?

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Amazing? It's like it's like a bald TV show. Yeah,
I mean, it's kind of funny what the Kardashians have exactly.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Who was some artists that inspired.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Gwen Stefani, I haven't met, that's so clear, No, Gwen
Stefani Letcher trying to think of some other ones's Mazy
Peter's I Love I Really Love a Lot of Olivia
or Drigo's new album.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
How do you have your coffee?

Speaker 2 (05:45):
I used to like it black, and then I started
getting like pumps of caramel and I can't go back.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
So I'm like Duncan Donuts one one.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Or if I'm feeling like, you know, actually sweet, two
pumps of caramel and almond milk.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Yeah, surecus like the sugar syrup, like the flavoring is
the best it just makes it sweeter or it's just
so nice.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Oh, I know, but now I can't go back to
its healthy black.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
What's something you'd like to achieve this time next year?

Speaker 3 (06:10):
I would love to be on tour tour in Australia. Yes,
there you go.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Can do you have any plans to come here? It's
still like in the works.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
It's in the works, but I'm not gonna say no
because I'm gonna manifest it my little things, like you.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Know, you've gotta manifest it. It does work. Like I
didn't help people say manifestation it works.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
I believe it works. I believe it works.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Thank you so much for the chat. So lovely chatting
with you, and congratulations with everything as.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Well, and hopefully next time it's in person.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
That last month, Kanye West and Ti Dollar sign It
dropped their album Vultures One. They've been doing listening parties
in at different cities around the world. You've probably seen
videos pop up on your TikTok, because I've seen a
bunch as well. And the album went to number one
on the charts, which means we have one song left
in the calmdown and you can't get in touch anytime.

(06:58):
Countdown with Jem on Social was thank you so much
for hanging out. And Arianna Grande she dropped her album
Eternal Sunshine. It is absolutely amazing and you may have
seen the video for her song we Can't Be Friends
and oh my gosh like the reference to sixteen Candles,
which came out in the eighties. The music video it's
so futuristic as well. It is so cool. Go and

(07:19):
check it out if you haven't seen it. And this
is the number one song on the Coundown this week.
It is Ariana Grande we Can't Be Friends on Clubline
