Ray bibb Rexa and Illy.

Speaker 4 (00:23):
He joins us. He had a huge announcement this week.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Find out what it is in less than fifteen minutes
and do you also see the dual EPA announce that
she's touring here next March.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
How exciting is that.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
This is Colobline Countdown at Weed Jem as we're cutting
down the top twenty songs and Australian artist Elly has
so many hits under his belt like Tight Road, Catch,
twenty two, Paper Cards, Welcome and a bunch more. And

(00:57):
this week he announced some very exciting news. He's going
to be dropping his seventh studio album Friday, the twenty
fifth of October, and he's also going on tour to
which is super exciting. And Ellie is joining us right now. Hello,
congratulations on your brand new single good Life I Love
with the song that we see in Other Side of
You and you know It's a very open song about

(01:19):
you know, going through these hard times and like you can.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Get through it.

Speaker 5 (01:22):
It's like kind of a mix between Ozzie hip hop
and my other great love Ozzie pub rock and my
other great love Oasis.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
So like it's like a really nice mashup that I think.

Speaker 5 (01:33):
People will it will take people by surprise because it's
never really done a song like that before. But I
also think it's an amazing song. I named my album
after it, so like I'm really happy with that as well.
I'm just I'm just a happy dude.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
At the moment. You know.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
That's a good place to be. And like, what's it
been like as well working on this album. This will
be your seventh album now, which is crazy, which.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Is so cool.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yeah, it's it is crazy. It's it's kind of wild.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
Like you know, I remember when I started out and
playing to no one, like literally more people on stage
with me, my DJ and my hype man than.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
They were in the crowd.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
To like be here seven albums in, I think in
the best form of my career in terms of a songwriter.
It's I'm aware of how lucky I am and how
like fortunate I've been to have, particularly Australian audiences get
behind me.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
It's super exciting to announce that you're going on your
Good Life tour this November.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
How does it feel to be going back on the
road again.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Oh dude, I can't wait. Man.

Speaker 5 (02:30):
Like we did a regional run last year which was
kind of just to get back out blow the dust
off after you know, not being able to tour for
a few years, and that was fun. But coming back
out with a new album of material and playing new songs,
I can't wait.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
And we haven't played a capital city.

Speaker 5 (02:46):
Run in a long time, so getting to play to
you know, particularly the Melbourne crowd, but all these cities
that have shown me a lot of love and support
over the years.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
I'm like, we're gonna knock it out of the park.
I know that much.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
It must be cool as well when you're doing in
your hometown like Seal, your family and your friends come
and support you at the show.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Yeah, I've got a song for my dad on this
new album.

Speaker 5 (03:07):
Which I haven't played him yet, but I know that
that's going to be like he'll be at the Melbourne
show and that's going to be hard to even perform it.
But those sort of moments, uncomfortable moments, but they can
be like the most beautiful moments of your careers.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
I've got a rapid round of questions for you. What
football team do you support?

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Manchester United?

Speaker 2 (03:28):
I love David Beckham, even though he doesn't play for
them anymore and hasn't played for years, but I.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Had a post of him on my wall as a kid.

Speaker 5 (03:35):
And then in New York a few years ago, I
was at a shoe store and I looked to my
right and he was there, and I did a double take.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
And I don't get starstruck at all.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
I haven't for a long long time, but I was
frozen looking straight ahead at the pair of shoes in
front of me for about two minutes because I couldn't
look at him again. And I regret it now because
I should have gone and be like, dude, you're my
idol as a kid.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
So I blew my chance. But he's his beauty in
real life, as he's been on the TV for me
since I was about four years old.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
So you'll meet him again and it will it'll be great, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
I hope, So I hope. So yeah. Now that I
know he's a sneakerhead, maybe there's a chance.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Yeah, yeah. And what's your favorite show to binge watch.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
I don't know if anyone's heard of The Boys, but
it's like a superhero It's kind of like X Men.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
And what's the quickest song that you've ever written.

Speaker 5 (04:24):
There's a song from way back in the day called
it Can Wait, which was like my first kind of
song that anyone really cared about. And I wrote that
in about fifteen minutes.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
And what's your most used emoji?

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Probably the crying laughing emoji.

Speaker 5 (04:37):
Yeah, you know, I get a lot of meme sent
to me, so that's the only way you respond.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
I got some funny friends.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
So And what's your favorite holiday destination?

Speaker 5 (04:47):
Probably Manchester for the football, but yeah, I mean New
York is my favorite city on Earth, so I'll say
I'll say New York.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
And if you could have a super power, what would
it be?

Speaker 1 (04:58):
I mean, can you go past flying?

Speaker 5 (05:00):
That's a good one, is that the I mean, I
know that's probably a cliche. If you've asked other people that,
what other answers do you even get?

Speaker 4 (05:06):
That is the most popular one.

Speaker 5 (05:09):
But invisibility is like only creeps would give that as
their answer, Like no flying flying.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
That's a good, honest, super episode.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
At least you don't have to go hop on the plane.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
You're just there, I'm saying, right.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
And what's the festival that you'd love to perform at of.

Speaker 5 (05:24):
All of them in the world. Probably Glastonbury. Yeah, it's
just got so much history. I think they're open to
more different stuff than Coachella or one of the American
ones would be.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
So I'll say Glastonbury.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
Yeah, we're happy to get you on the lineup.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Yeah. If Coachella called, don't show them.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Thank you so much for hanging out, Ellie, and make
sure you're going to get your tickets because he is
going on his Good Life Australian tool this November. Can
you believe The Weekend is going to be here in
a few weeks for his tour, which is super exciting.
And yesterday he dropped the lead single from his upcoming
six studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow Now.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
He filmed the music video for this song on an
iPhone sixteen pro go and check it out online if
you haven't seen it.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
It's brand new.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
