Speaker 1 (00:01):
I think about when we
are coaching people and we
think about everything going up.
I just saw a great, great videoby a gentleman by the name of
Travis who was talking about theAI apocalypse and we're going
to have a shortage of talent, but are those two going to
intersect?
Are they going to bump intoeach other?
And obviously they are.
I go back to one fundamentalthing that we are very focused
(00:23):
on here at Progress Coaching, and that's coachability.
I think about a YouTube channelI just saw with a young lady
who talked about being ageneralist.
She's a jack of all trades andit was really one of the
greatest things I've ever seen, because I've always thought well
, you got to specialize.
I'm almost wondering if we'recoming full circle.
Let me explain when I thinkabout what's coming.
(00:47):
We're going to have to use AI.
You're going to have to usechat, gpt.
You're going to have to becomeskilled or at least a user in
some fashion.
As I do this podcast, I justsaw one of the greatest little
tools on podcasting.
(01:07):
I didn't quite understand it atfirst, but essentially what
they do is they take one of yourpodcast episodes, they build it
around a WordPress plugin andthen basically it converts it
into a form and once you fillout the form, it sends you back
suggestions based on your form.
And I'm like specific to thecontent of the podcast.
I'm like that's a creative idea.
(01:28):
As an owner, I cannot ignorethose things.
For years, obviously, peoplehave made fun of me because I
have ADD and obviously the shinyobject syndrome might be one of
the best skill sets I've everhad.
Has it been a distractor and attimes, caused a lack of focus?
Oh my gosh.
Yes, my former coach, scottRasmussen, would say that all
(01:49):
the time I think there's alittle distraction here.
I go a little, there's a lot.
So when we're coaching, we haveto be really widespread in what
we're doing, and what I mean bythat is we have to be very
widespread in terms of whatwe're doing and we have to be
(02:09):
very conscientious of the thingsthat we're doing to gain
traction with our careers.
I'm going to give you an example.
If you do manual editing at anewspaper, you will not be doing
manual editing at a newspaperin two years, if not now.
So what are you going to do?
Go into your boss's office andsay I know that the tool does it
(02:32):
faster, but I don't want toswitch careers, what are you
going to do?
I know that's kind of a rough, crass depiction, so let me ask
you, as a listener of this wheredo you think people need to
embrace the change?
Where do you think that peopleneed to really look in the
mirror and say you know what Ineed to explore?
(02:54):
Coachability here.
See, coachability is aboutunderstanding yourself that when
someone's giving you feedback, advice, mentoring, coaching,
guidance, that it's not personal, it's for your well-being.
We spend so much time resistingand pushing back in feedback
that we fail to realize it'sreally just cloaked in
(03:15):
perception.
And if we opened up that doorto perception we probably would
become more skilled.
We probably would be wellprepared for what's about to
come.
