Speaker 1 (00:01):
So this month we've really focused on something
called reverse engineeredcoaching.
How does it work?
You know what?
What if you collected ordefined information you want to
collect from your leaders?
Do you know?
I had a meeting with a clientin New York and I'll never

(00:22):
forget it, and it was years agoago and it was a wealth
management company, and we askedeverybody the leaders how many
of you have a list of whatmotivates your employees?
Very few did.
And I said how many of you knowspecifically what they want to

(00:44):
do with their career?
Very few did.
Now, why is that important?
Now I'm going to jump into therabbit hole of motivation and
career development.
If I know someone wants to be aleader, if I know someone wants
to work in marketing analytics, whatever it might be, I can
bring that into my conversation.
Such as John, you know, I thinkabout what you're currently

(01:07):
doing in your performance leveland what if we raised it by 30%?
Whatever that might mean?
How do you think that mighthelp you reach your goal of?
And then fill in the blank, itcreates immediate emotional
attachment to what most peopleavoid personal change, what most
people avoid personal change.
So what if, instead of trainingand just practicing.

(01:28):
We said what do you want toknow?
What if we define that thoseobjectives for leaders?
And said you know what?
Go, get the information.
That's what reverse engineeredcoaching is.
It's about creating a bucketlist of information we want to
know.
The only way you can get it isto do what?
Ask really good coachingquestions.
