Welcome to Coaching Conversations

We have created a NEW and Innovative line of books called Workplace Coaching Books. These books use QR codes with embedded audio and video lessons speaking directly to the reader. Each book comes with assessments and journal based coaching pages where they document what they've learned and what they've applied. In addition each book comes with the self analysis link that prompts them to share what they've learned and what they've put into action leading to greater learner application a

Progress Coaching 360 is a dynamic leadership development system that equips managers and teams with powerful coaching skills through a blend of training, real-time practice, peer learning, and feedback. It combines expert-led instruction, a train-the-trainer model, group coaching certification, and monthly coaching pods where leaders practice, share wins, and tackle challenges. With built-in accountability and hands-on application using Coaching Cards and best practice sessions, Progress Coaching 360 turns coaching from theory into action—building a sustainable culture of growth, feedback, and performance.

Progress Coaching 360 teaches leaders how to coach and employees how to develop coachability skills. This unique combination helps build great workplace cultures.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
For years we've talked in the workplace about
leaders coaching, and one of themost fundamental questions we
get is how do you get leaders tocoach?
You know they say they don'thave time.
The real reason people don'tcoach is they don't know what to
say or do.
So when you think about aspeech or learning a foreign
language, what do you have to do?
You have to learn it, you haveto practice it, you have to

(00:21):
apply it.
It's pretty simple and recentlywe started to create a tool
that actually measures coachingconversation skills and we're
actually calling it Coaching PAL.
Pal stands for Practice, application and Learning
Practice.
It apply it and what did youlearn?
It's as simple as that.
And when we think about practice, you know often we've had

(00:43):
people say well, tim, we'redoing the same thing over and
over again.
We've got to do somethingdifferent.
I'm like look, if you want toget better at shooting free
throws in basketball and ittakes you 500 shots and it can
get boring after 100 shots andyou want to switch to hook shots
, would you be better atshooting free throws?

(01:05):
If you want to give a keynotespeech and you know it's going
to be an hour long, but you knowwhat you just want to focus on
short stories which are only 10minutes.
Would you be better at givingkeynote speeches?
See, improvement requires acouple things.
Improvement requires a couplethings Repetitive practice,

(01:26):
application to the real worldand reflection to develop
learning.
That's why we call it PAL.
When we think about practiceand I love Angela Duckworth's
book Grit she talks aboutpractice and I just love her
book Because the fact of thematter is, if you don't practice

(01:50):
something, you don't get betterat it.
Now I'm going to make a commentthat typically at first will
rub some people the wrong way, especially in the training
industry.
Training solely is not theanswer.
The answer lies in theapplication.
That's why the official name ofour company a lot of people
don't know this is TrainingReinforcement Partners.
It's building that bridgebetween the training and the

(02:12):
learning to the real world whereapplication needs to occur.
Let me give you the mostfundamental example.
You know I no longer takebusiness like this, but when I
get a call from a salesorganization, oh, we're looking
for a speaker.
I asked one question in thatconversation and it determines
if I want to do the project.
I said how often are yourpeople practicing?

(02:33):
Well, what does that have to dowith the event.
I said a lot.
If your people aren't practicingand you want me to come in and
do a speech or do a program andhave people role play and
practice, they are going to hateme and they're going to hate
you for bringing me.
I don't want to be a part of it.
If you don't have that in yourculture or not willing to put it

(02:53):
in your culture, I'm notinterested.
Now let me tell you why.
You know I've dealt with a lotof different people and I would
say 98 and a half percent of thetime we typically deal with the
nicest people in the worldtraining, learning, coaching.
I mean I always tell my wifewe're in such a great industry,
we're very lucky to have what wehave.

(03:15):
The fact of the matter is, whenI dealt with sales
organizations and I used to dosales training, I hated it.
I absolutely hated it becausepeople didn't want to role play
in practice and I go.
Well, then how do you getbetter?
Well, I've been doing this along time.
Tenure does not equalapplication.
Tenure can give somebody afalse sense of accomplishment.

(03:39):
Industries change, peoplechange, markets change, products
change, customers buyingdrivers change, and if we don't
change with that in practice toshow up our best selves, we're
never, ever going to create thatsuccess that we could.
So when you think about theconcept of practice got to
practice Application, where dothey need to apply it?

(04:02):
And then let's talk about whatwe've learned from both.
So when we look in the mirrorand we say, are we continually
improving, we can honestlyanswer it.
