Speaker 1 (02:13):
I love this coffee.
I have my round ice cubes.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Again fancy.
So what you have?
A round ice cube maker.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Yup.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Like one that you
plug into the wall.
Or is it in your refrigerator?
No, it's a tray.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Silicone tray.
You fill it on the top.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Duh.
Duh it's like you know, pushand the ice comes out.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
No, no, big round no.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Do you know that
actually people crave like
Chick-fil-A ice?
It's like a weird thing, it'slike a phenomenon.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
I did not know.
I don't eat Chick-fil-A icecream.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Okay.
So before you guys click off atany point during this episode,
you have to wait until towardsthe very end, because we have a
special announcement that you'renot going to want to miss A
special coffee.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
social announcement.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yes, you guys, but
this is a fun episode.
We're not talking anythingbusiness or social media related
.
If you want that, check out thelibrary for Coffee Social.
We got a lot of them about somethings that happen in 2024 and
something that's happening in2025 some fun things yes, do you
want to start with spain?
Speaker 1 (03:11):
sure, let's talk with
spain.
What do you want to know aboutspain?
Speaker 2 (03:15):
well, jonathan went
to spain.
I did, I went to spain.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
I went to spain for
my 44th birthday.
I was touring spain.
It was very exciting, spent my44th birthday there.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
I can't believe you
just revealed your age, by the
way.
I know, I know.
Well, I feel like that's justlike a thing for guys.
They don't care For women.
It's like, for whatever reason,we have to keep it hush, hush.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Yeah, I mean because
Mimi's 52.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Hey 52 and I look
good for my age.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
You and I look good
for my age.
So no, I spent my 44th birthdayin Spain.
I toured Spain on a bus.
Mimi was very concerned by thisbus thing, but yeah, on a tour
bus we did pretty much theentirety of Spain, from Madrid,
where I landed, all the way toBarcelona and you know
everything in between.
Spain has always been a placethat I wanted to visit, so this
(04:04):
was really exciting for me fromToledo to Valencia, barcelona,
all of it was just amazing.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
I love that.
So what age do you think thatyou felt like, oh, I have to go
to Spain one day.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
So that's hard for me
to say, because I did obviously
grew up in a Cuban family so,and my grandfather was from
Spain, so I remember him tellinga little bit of stuff from
Spain, but not a lot, but sothere was always a connection
there.
But I think really, when I gotinto high school and I started
studying the language andlearning a little bit about the
culture, that's when I reallyfell in love with it.
And in college, when I my firstclass in college was Pono de
(04:40):
Cid, where I learned that epicpoem, and then I did a class on
don quixote de la mancha, whichwas I got to go see the
windmills and I was so excited.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Actually he's
stepping away my cat is going
crazy right now.
I think you want to go to spain, don't you?
So okay go run to youtube youguys showing things.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
I'm showing things.
So while I was, I read thisbook.
When I was in college.
It was an entire semestercourse.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Wait, wait, wait,
wait.
The whole course was just aboutthat book.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Was Don Quixote.
Yeah, wow, okay, so I, and it'sa fairly big book.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
How many pages is?
Speaker 1 (05:18):
there 940.
It's about a thousand inSpanish.
So, yeah, read it in Spanishlike an amazing book, Fell in
love with it and while I wasthere I got to go see the
windmills and got to see, youknow, Don Quixote and Cervantes
and got my little Don Quixote.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
That must have been
like a moment, like it must have
felt.
It probably still feels surreal.
It still feels surreal.
It still feels surreal thatthat actually happened.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
It still feels
surreal because you read books
that happen in the US and you'relike, yeah, okay, in New York
City.
Yeah, okay, new York City isthere.
Yeah, okay, the history, likein Europe, is from the beginning
of time.
So, it's very interesting, evenseeing, like when the Moors were
in Spain, when this happened inSpain, and you're like, oh yeah
(06:07):
, that happened and here.
Okay, it's very surreal, but Iloved every minute of it.
I'm a little bit of a nerd, alittle bit of a nerd, but I
loved every minute of it and Igot to take photos of all of it,
which was definitely one of mybig focuses.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Well, I think some
people don't know this about you
, but you love photography Likethat's what you do, yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
If they haven't
watched on YouTube and seen all
the pictures behind me.
Yeah, they probably don't knowthat I love photography.
I love taking pictures andediting them up and all that fun
.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Did you bring back
that picture that you, or the
painting that you purchased foryourself?
I forgot where you were inSpain when you saw this.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Run to YouTube.
Guys Run to YouTube.
And, by the way, thank you toFramebridge for the framing of
it.
They did such an incredible job.
I love the blue frame that theyput on it.
I sent them the image because Igot the image in Spain and I
sent it to them and I'm like Ineed you to frame it.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
And they did a really
great job framing it.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
But um wait did you
send it from Spain or did you
take it on the airplane?
I took it on the airplane in ain a little like paper roll and
a bag that I took on theairplane Cause, you know, when
you're buying art overseas, it'skind of like do I ship this Do?
Speaker 2 (07:19):
I so.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
But I and I'm going
to put this down very soon but I
got this picture we werewalking through in a tour and I
oh my God, it picture and likeall the stuff was like this it
(07:45):
was kind of modern, differentthan what you would normally see
in an art gallery, and Iremembered where it was and we
got to the end of this tour andthey let us go and have dinner
and dessert and whatever, andthen we had to go back to the
hotel and they were going towalk us back to the hotel and I
told my parents I'm like I needto go back to that place and
they're like what?
(08:05):
I'm like we need to go back towhere that art thing I think I
know where it was and I kind ofled them through and it was.
It was like through an alley upthe street over another alley
and then into this like littleart gallery area.
So we found it and I went inthere and found like I wanted
all the pieces they were allamazing but found this one that
kind of just spoke to me andgrabbed it for not that bad.
(08:28):
It was a birthday gift formyself.
It wasn't that bad, I mean, after you add on getting it
framed in the US.
Maybe it was a little bitexpensive.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Was it the price of a
Gucci bag or no?
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Okay, not that
expensive.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
I'm still waiting for
my Gucci bag, Jonathan.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Yeah, I know, we'll
talk Gucci bag Jonathan.
Yeah, I know, but yeah, that'swhat I did.
Got that, we went to dinner, went back to the hotel.
It was great.
It was actually one of the lastdays we were there, but it was.
I love Barcelona.
I want to go back to just be inBarcelona for like two weeks.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Yeah, I was going to
ask which place would you like?
You know, obviously you'regoing to go back again and it
probably won't be through a tour, because you already did that.
Maybe, so you would go toBarcelona.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
I'd go to Barcelona.
Barcelona would probably bejust because it's a city, but
it's so much to see and there'sso many unique, different things
there.
Like Madrid to me felt like afinancial center.
It was there, it was cool, butthere wasn't a ton of stuff to
see.
It was just a city, andBarcelona felt like there was a
lot more history and stuff.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Okay, well, anything,
anything that was memorable,
maybe a funny moment, maybe acrazy person, something from the
bus tour or the airplane, something that you could just
make us laugh right now.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Well, I don't know if
this will make people laugh
right now, but it was the mostimpressive thing I'd ever seen
and my tour guide deserves somuch credit for this, and she's
from Colette Tours.
Amazing, you know.
This was in November and it wasliterally Americans touring
Spain both sides of the aisle, both very extreme positions on,
(10:01):
you know, in politics, and theelection happened while we were
there and we were together everyminute of every day,
practically.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
And how many people.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
It was about 20, 25
people.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
I was thinking it was
small.
The first time we talked aboutthis I was like oh, it's like
eight, nine people that you haveto deal with every day.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Yeah, it was like 20
something.
Yeah, 20 with every day.
Yeah, it was like 20 something.
Yeah, 20 people or so.
Yeah, so you kind of become notbest friends, but you really
get to know these people.
You get to know these peopleand and they had very opposing
views, some of which I foundoffensive, and the tour guide
was incredible at being able tokeep everybody human and not
(10:40):
like because I mean literallythe election happened while I
was there.
I cried with everything thathappened and like there were
people that were celebrating andshe managed to keep peace and
show us Spain and she kneweverything about Spain.
It was crazy.
I mean she deserves so muchcredit for that, because I have
no idea if I had been told I gota tour of americans during the
(11:03):
freaking presidential election,I would have been like no
goodbye and out exactly well.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Yeah, it definitely
takes a lot of patience.
I feel like you know and shoutout to the americans I mean,
we're american, we can say thiswe're american.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
we can say this, but
really we're and we're the worst
tourists.
We don't we tourists.
Stop, don't say that we are.
We are.
We don't understand.
We expect culture to kind ofwork the way that we expect
culture to work.
No, I know, I feel like, yeah,we're kind of stuck in our
bubble.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
I've been outside of
the US and I understand that.
Also, I have a random thought.
When you were talking aboutalleyways and how you had to
guide your parents through thealleyways to get to the, to get
to the art shop I don't knowabout there, but like, alleyways
in europe are not alleyways inthe us, like, no alleyways in
europe are, like you know, likeusually like what is a stone
(11:50):
paved, like it's very it'spretty, it's romantic.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Yeah, I mean until
you run across the place where
they throw the garbage out intothe alleyway.
But really it's like a romanticalleyway.
It's like all the stone and thegreenery is like growing up the
walls and like it's pretty,it's picturesque.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
I don't know why that
came in my mind.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
It's not like a New
York City alleyway guys, it's
not like there's just dumpstersback there and there's people
waiting to kill you.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
You don't go down an
alleyway in New York City, never
you don't go down an alleywayin New York City, never, okay,
let's go ahead.
Let's talk about Tay-Tay.
You want to do that?
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Sure the day that I
waited 90 minutes to get Mimi a
t-shirt.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
I'm wearing it.
You guys, you got to come toYouTube I want to show you 90
minutes.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
90 minutes to get her
a t-shirt.
That's it.
I went to.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Canada and waited 90
minutes 90 minutes to get her a
t-shirt.
That's it.
I went to.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Canada and waited 90
minutes, and that's it.
Then I left.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
You would say that
Jonathan would say that Listen.
Okay, first of all, let's backup.
Jonathan Howard went to theHeiress Tour.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
I did, I did.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
And it was almost one
of the last stops of the
Heiress Tour.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
It was.
There was one week left.
Yeah, it was night three intoronto.
She had six nights in toronto,so there was two weeks left the
following week in toronto andthen the next weekend in
vancouver and so it's like forhow I don't know how he scored
these tickets magic I mean.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
But he told me he's
like oh yeah, oh yeah, I'm going
to the Earth Tour.
I'm bringing my sister.
I'm like what about?
Me.
What about Mimi Langley.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
I was like I don't
know Mimi Langley.
Never heard of her.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
But I mean, you know,
and as soon as he told me, I'm
like, okay, I'm going too, so Iwent on Ticketmaster, bad idea,
you guys, bad idea.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
But I'm so excited
that you guys got to go, you and
your sister, yeah, and it was.
I mean I paid a decent amount.
A Gucci purse, yes, probably.
Yeah, maybe even more.
I mean it was, it was a lot,but it was one of those things
that, like, everybody wastalking about it Everybody, you
know.
You got to go to the heiresstour.
It was the.
Obviously the talk of it's overnow, but people are still
talking, talking about peopleare still like mourning the loss
of the heiress tour.
Um, and I'm like my sister'shad a little bit of a rough year
(14:07):
.
You know there's a lot going on.
Let's go do something fun, because we generally for
christmas do like eventyexcursion things with one
another, like we bring myparents to broadway to go see a
play, stuff like that, so we cando things as a family.
And I was like you know what, let's do this.
And I was able to find ticketsthat were not cheap but not like
(14:29):
, oh my God, I need to like geta new mortgage on my house.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
First of all, you
were on the floor.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
We were on the floor,
yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
There's no upper
balcony for Jonathan Howard.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Yeah, no nosebleed
sections for Jonathan Howard.
Okay, no nosebleed sections forJonathan Howard.
We were on the floor and it wasjust.
I mean, taylor Swift was rightthere, I know I saw the footage
man.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Go check it out on
his Instagram.
He has a.
Well, you have a reel on there.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
I have a reel, I
think a reel or two on there.
Yeah, yeah, we were close.
Yeah, we were close and it wasimpressive.
And even if you weren't close,so the whole thing was
incredible.
Like you got wrist littlewristbands that had lights on
them and you were part of theshow.
You looked up and the entirearena was like lighting up,
depending on the song, dependinglike it was, so you don't need
(15:15):
your lighters and your cellphones.
She had that handled for you, like you didn't have to think
about it.
Your wrist just lit up when itneeded to light up.
That's cool, I mean.
Yeah, it was really impressiveand she goes for three and a
half hours.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
Listen.
I saw the Disney special.
You guys, you can catch theArrows tour on the Disney Plus
plan.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Well, and that one
didn't have the Tortured Poets
in it either.
It's the old version, butshe'll put up the new one.
She will, I'm sure there's anew one.
But I mean, and the torturedpoets?
Like I?
Personally, I love torturedpoet society.
Oh my God, tortured poetsociety is not correct.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Wait, wait, wait,
wait.
What is it called?
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Tortured poets
department.
It's the dead poet society.
Are we fake Swifties or whatAre we fake Swifties?
Speaker 2 (15:59):
or what You're a fake
Swifty.
Jonathan Howard is.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
I'm just going to
edit all of this out.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
I'm telling the live
audience over here the live
audience over here that she'stalking to.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
Oh, I get.
I do that all the time becauseit's the Dead Poets Society is a
movie Is that a movie?
Yeah, yes, Tortured PoetsDepartment is Taylor Swift's
album, but I do that all thetime.
It was like one.
It kind of blew me away justhow great the lyrics are in that
album.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
And like that set was
incredible.
I'm like, oh, and she justthrew the same at the end when
she released the album.
She just threw this littlething at the end.
What she was.
I'm still it's been months.
I'm still blown away by theconcert, Still blown away, Like
I.
It doesn't register in my headhow a human does that, night
after night after night.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
She's a professional
man and she has heart and she's
passionate and at some pointit's not about the money,
because they've already hit themoney.
Do you know what I mean?
It's like yeah, there has to bemore to it than just that, yeah
.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
And she was happy.
She loved every minute of it.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Exactly.
You cannot fake that, no.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
That'd be hella hard
to fake.
That'd be hella hard to fake, yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
What did you say?
Hella, yeah, the Californians.
Am I like rubbing off on you?
Because you never say that inNew York we say, matt, that's
mad Cool.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
I don't ever say that
.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
Have you ever said it
?
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Never.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
Oh, my goodness.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
Never.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Okay.
Well, in New York you'resupposed to say that's mad cool.
Right In California, they saythat's hella cool.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
None of that language
is used anymore.
You're old, you're old.
I know we're old now.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
We can't say that.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
We can't say that.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
So anything from
Taylor Swift that you I mean
anything you want to just share,I mean, was there a moment
where someone spilled a drink onyou, or was everyone nice?
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Everybody was nice,
everybody was nice, everybody
was exchanging bracelets, everybody was like, friendly
with one another.
I will tell you, it was like analternate reality.
In that four hours that you'rein there, it was an alternate
reality.
It was insane.
Like she has created a culturearound her that is so deeply
ingrained in what she does, howshe connects.
(18:14):
I mean these people, thesesongs, for a lot of them are
their life story, you know, anddifferent moments that connect
with them and they just all.
It's almost uncomfortably weirdhow much they all love each
other, but they do sort of justit's a connection.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
I love that.
And did you eat anything?
Why is food on my mind?
Speaker 1 (18:37):
I did eat,
unfortunately.
So obviously some of you guysknow that I have a really
restricted diet because I hadheart failure a couple of years
ago, so I can't really have highsodium, unfortunately.
Which everything has high therewas everything when you're in
an arena, and we had to getthere early, so we had gone to
lunch and had an amazing lunch, like amazing food for lunch, but
that was hours and hours andhours earlier, so I had to get
(19:00):
pizza that was so salty yeah, Ihad to take a salty.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Yeah, I guess you
could taste the salt now.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Yeah.
Oh yeah yeah, so very, verysalty pizza.
I had to take a couple extra ofmy diuretic pills when I got
back to the hotel just to makesure, but yeah well, I'm glad
that you ate, though, becausethat was a four hours experience
it was and you needed yourenergy to sing along and, you
know, be there and then, ofcourse, you got me a t-shirt.
You got her a t-shirt.
(19:28):
That was an hour and a halfbefore you texted me when you
were in line, though, yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
I think you texted me
.
I forgot who texted who becauseI dropped it.
Like I said, oh, if you want toget me a T-shirt, I never
pressured him.
You guys, did you ever feelpressured?
Speaker 1 (19:42):
Yes, I knew that if a
t-shirt, I would be dead.
You're dead to me.
Now you say that to me.
You're dead to me.
Yes, I texted you from from theline.
I think I was texting your sizeand that was when I first got
in line and I'm like, oh this.
And then they showed me wherethe gift shop was and it was
like way around the you're like.
(20:02):
Excuse me, sir, this is not theline, that's the line back there
no, well, that was the bathroomline, because most of the
people that were there were notmen.
