Many thanks! ❤️
During our latest “Coffee with” episode, Serbian City Club had the pleasure of hosting Maya Jordan, a pianist, as part of the 17th annual Serbian Month in the UK.
During the discussion we got to hear Maya’s interesting journey from Serbia via Cyprus to the UK and about her experiences of studying in both Serbia and the UK. The main reason for speaking to Maya was to put a spotlight on one of the most active and influential members of the Serbian community in the UK. Maya is one of those unsung heroes responsible for changing the perception of Serbia for the better, and for continuously highlighting our rich and vibrant cultural heritage.
During the discussion we reflected on many events Maya organised that gave our community visibility and respectability, while discussing why Serbian community does not necessarily support those great efforts. We discussed whether Serbian institutions provide any support to artists who move abroad and further explored is there a successful collaboration between artists in Serbia and those abroad.
We further explored how and why the celebration of Serbian Month in the UK became such a great changer for the Serbian Community in the UK and what impact the Serbian Month catalogue had in Serbia.
We will air on Saturday at 7am UK and 8am Serbian time on our Youtube and website, and all other leading streaming services.

Cardiac Cowboys
The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
