Today we’re once again joined by Javier Hernandez, a pioneering indie cartoonist and one of the leading voices in Latino comics for more than three decades. Best known as the creator of El Muerto: The Aztec Zombie, Javier’s work is a powerful blend of Mexican folklore, myth, and modern life.
But Javier’s impact goes far beyond the page. As a co-founder of the Latino Comics Expo, the nation’s first convention dedicated to spotlighting Latino comic creators, he’s helped build a vital platform for diverse voices, championing independent storytelling and community connection.
Now, he’s bringing us his latest project, Man from Mictlan, a new comic that journeys into the mysteries of life, death, and the underworld—all told through his unmistakable artistic style. He’s here to share more about this current Kickstarter campaign (already fully funded), his creative process, and why these stories matter so much right now.
