Remember those moments where you just couldn't seem to find the right word to express your feelings, and yet somehow managed to get your point across? Those are the Gen X moments we'll be exploring today. We'll be navigating through our unique and sometimes bizarre ways of dealing with life's curveballs- be it disciplining our not-so-kid-anymore kids, dating in the digital era or the perennial struggle of getting to work on time. Also, we'll be chuckling over our challenges with the world wide web and our adorable faith in pro-wrestling.

Ever washed your sneakers as a ritualistic rite of passage? That’s just one among the many quirky tales from our youth we'll be reminiscing over. To top it off, we'll also be discussing the art of embracing our perfectly imperfect bodies. Yes, that 30% body fat is a badge of honor! Being sandwiched between Millennials and Boomers makes us the overlooked ones, but you know what? We're here, we're unique, and we're proud. So buckle up and join me, Dez, on this amazing journey of rediscovering Gen X, one podcast episode at a time.

on a daily with you all, andit'll be fun.
It'll be fun.

(00:28):
I'm going to throw a little bitof analysis in with my
observations.
I think I'm a pretty smart guy.
I say pretty smart things, butI say them to myself, so I want
to share them with you now.
So that's what the podcast isgoing to be about Just my
everyday goings-ons, experiences, and we'll have guests, have a

(00:51):
co-host, we'll do all of that.
I'm a failed comedian, multiplehobbyists, so it's going to be
funny.
It's going to be fun.
I'll take you on my fun journey.
I know everyone has journeys, but mine is better, mine is a
little bit more fun, so we'll dothat Anyway.
So welcome to the first episode.

(01:12):
Thanks for joining.
I'll hop to it.
I have a few things on my mindAnd so this episode I want to
talk about Gen X, and so I am aGen X on myself.
We're pretty much a forgottengeneration, if you will.
I don't really hear much about,as you hear, you know about

(01:35):
millennials or whatever theycalled, and other generation
after them, and then boomers.
You hear about them becauseit's easy to say boomer, so you
kind of remember it, but no onereally talks about Gen X.
So I'll just do a little deepdive from my perspective, stuff
that I do and think about andhow I react to things as a Gen

(01:57):
Xer.
So you know, and if you agree, let me know.
I guess I don't know how itworks.
I don't have much.
I don't really listen topodcasts, i don't have a
background in podcast etiquette,so just bear with me and I'll
bear with you.

(02:19):
Nonetheless, come on, you know, let's do it.
Anyway, a couple of thingsabout Gen X.
This is what I want to say.
So, cookies, cook with some ofthose cookies, not the chocolate
chip or Oreo or whatever Theinternet.
Cookies, like what?
who needs cookies?
Like, why are you asking me toaccept your cookies?

(02:41):
It sounds more like a bribe.
You know what I mean.
Like, what is that?
I don't even know what it is.
Get out of my face.
Is it oatmeal, raisin,chocolate chip?
Is it Oreo?
Is it macadamia nut?
No, get out of my face, i don'twant.
I don't know what it is Cookiesout of here, whatever, anyway.
So, like you know, we're alittle bit older but we still

(03:05):
think we're young.
And we see you walking down thestreet and we're about to bump
into you.
We're going to do the straightup Allen Iverson crossover when
you boom, boom, dodging you alittle bit And I will knock it
out.
So don't judge us, maybe alittle bit harsh on the knees,

(03:25):
but we're crossing you up.
Get out of here.
Wrestling So I was thinkingabout this.
To us, wrestling is real.
We grew up in that prime era ofwrestling WWE, wwf, etc.
But we think it's real.
Like dude, you getting smackedin the face with a chair, That's

(03:47):
real.
We will fight tooth and nail todefend our position about
wrestling being real.
You know, we kind of know it'spredetermined in our heads, but
no, it's real.
It's real.
So present day issues, socialissues, political issues,

(04:09):
whatever you want to call it.
So we don't have an expansivevocabulary.
I don't know if that's a word.
You know it's a word.
We don't really know.
We're not gonna be like blah, blah, blah and we think the
judgment tool of the partisanball I went like dude is whack.

(04:30):
What do you think about that?
What do you think about thisnew policy.
What was whack?
See this whack.
What was trash, what wasgarbage?
That's what we say.
We don't have to.
We don't have no super dupermonologue with mad source words
Get out of here, you know.
So therapy, we don't know whatthat is Moving on.

(04:54):
So we are at the age where wehave teenage to adult children,
right.
So it's kind of awkward how wediscipline them.
We're on the fence.
We are the generation that wegot punched in the face Straight
up.
So we know you can't kind of dothat now.
So it's like dude, i want tohit you with a phone book.
You're talking on a smack, butthat's what.

(05:17):
There's no phone books around.
So lucky you Anyway dating.
So if you, if you anyone aroundor over 42, we know what to do.
We know what to do.
It's no confusion.
We just want to act like we'reconfused because everyone wants

(05:38):
to act like they're confused.
We know who needs to ask whoout.
We know who needs to do what, who needs to open what door, who
needs to call who.
Like we do, we just want tolike, blend in with all the blah
blah.
But Gen X, someone over 42,around that age, we know exactly
what to do.
So I would say don't let usfool you.

(06:00):
But I'm not going to give tradesecrets out.
So you know, let me know if you, if you agree, being late to
work with late to work, becauseif you're around that age Gen X
age you've probably been doingwhat you are doing for at least
over 10 years, so you're over itby now.
I'm not, i'm not coming to workon time.

(06:22):
Over it, traffic's always anexcuse.
There's that.
So we actually cared aboutstuff about 10 years ago.
I'll throw that in there.
So a little hip hop tidbitEminem We like Eminem, but not a
fan of the beard.
We don't know who you are withthat beard, eminem, take it off,

(06:44):
go shave it Like.
You're not Eminem with thatbeard, you're like some other
dude Anyway.
So we will still fight.
Although we're probably over30% body fat, you know what I
mean We'll still try to take itto you Got a little pudge, but

(07:05):
you know we'll still meet yououtside All that.
So beef when you say beef, it'snot just food for us, you gotta
be careful what you talk about.
It's like beef is a thing,that's a thing.
Anyway, we don't, we don't knowabout that.
Talk it out stuff.
It's like, dude, i'm meetingyou at the playground three
o'clock, three, 15 monkey bars, you and me You know what I'm

(07:29):
saying, so that we know abouthouse parties.
You know, we know about.
You know you have like 21dollar bills and you put a $10
bill over it and looks like you, straight up, you got Monet, you
know.
So we wash out sneakers ortennis shoes, scrape them joints

(07:53):
with a toothbrush, likecleaning them is like a sacred
ritual.
We would pass it down.
But I don't know these kidsnowadays.
But you know, just let me knowif you agree.
You know, that's, that's justhow we roll Anyway.
So our parents, you knowbullying, this is how we dealt

(08:18):
with bully.
Our parents, hey, you betterfight that bully or fight me,
and you live with your parents.
So that would be a ongoingfight.
So they would also say stuff tous like, hey, what are you
cooking tonight?
Like what?
Yeah, fight that bully, comecook night's over, anyway.

(08:39):
But we know stuff about noodlesand noodles, cds, tapes, good
old Nintendo.
We don't know what the wordoffensive means.
We know what the word offensemeans, but you know, we got that
covered anyway.
So I wanted to talk to youabout Gen X, and I just had

(09:03):
these ideas, and as I come upwith more ideas, i'll let you
know, but I think I think thatis a very descriptive
characteristic of my generation.
You know, we're dope, we'restuck in the middle, we're like

(09:24):
that sandwiched generation.
You know what I mean.
But so yeah, until next time, just keep rocking that 30% body
fat with pride.
Gen X is So, keep it real Andthat's all that.
