This week on Comics and Chronic we're joined by some very special guests, hosts of fellow comic book pod The Oblivion Bar Podcast, Chris Hacker and Aaron Knowles! We're discussing Wonder Woman Dead Earth with story & art by Daniel Warren Johnson.

We start the episode off by thanking Chris & Aaron for their service 🦅🇺🇸. But Chris tells us about his first & only time smoking weed & Cody reveals that he lost his virginity and smoked weed for the first time in the same night. The Oblivion Bar was fortunate enough to have Daniel Warren Johnson on their pod twice so go check out those episodes! Daniel Warren Johnson is a master at using trauma to build his world & characters. Are there moments in this comic that are edgelord or out of character for Wonder Woman? The Oblivion Bar gives their answer! Should canon & lore play a role in telling a strong story? This story makes for an excellent one-shot and is another reminder that DC’s Black Label puts out strong mature stories. Does there need to be more distinction between DC, Vertigo, & Black Label? Chris shows off his Trunks commission from DWJ! The book has a great post-apocalyptic almost Mad Max: Fury Road vibe but with Wonder Woman as the main character. Chris makes an excellent point that emotions aren’t a bad thing but are quite literally what makes us human, empathetic, understanding, and even more so is what helps ground and makes relatable these god like characters and is what we as fans and readers of comics come for.
