Speaker 1 (00:14):
Welcome into the game.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Playing with head coach Dan Quinn, Logan, Paulson, I'm you, Ols,
Brian Cooper Jr. We are here in the Big Bear
AI Command Center studio.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Coach.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
We're going to our second of a back to back
road trip. We're going out early this time to LA.
What are the benefits of that getting out there a
little early?

Speaker 4 (00:29):
Number one, get acclimated, you know, time changed to go.
So let's get the team together. We'll go out and
have a practice in LA on Friday. Our normal practice
we would have here. Do all that there is mainly
just to get one mind, body, heart, throw everything exactly
lined like you want to do it. It's also good
to have the team together and so much like we

(00:50):
did in training camp, go away for a few days.
Just having that space together it helps. And so this
is one of those weekends that we get to do that.

Speaker 5 (00:58):
And how awesome is it to have an ownership group.
It's going to support that because it's expensive. Someone's got
to pay the bills, right, support winning, right.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
And that's that's the name of the game. Man.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Can we you know, find our ways to gain an
edge and anything lot and so this we feel like
this one and we thought about it during the off season.
Sometimes you can do a road trip back to back
and stay on the West Coast when you have two
West Coast games. Well, the schedule didn't quite set that way,
but we thought this is a close opportunity to go
do that and coach.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
It looks like Jane and Daniels just training in the
right direction. How valuable is that to get him back,
not only just for this offense, for the entire locker room.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Yeah, just he's worked incredibly hard, you know, to put
himself into that spot to get back on the field
with his teammates, and so he provides a lot for us,
you know, on the field, off the field, and he's
got great command of what we do. So, yeah, we're
pumped to get him back in it.

Speaker 5 (01:45):
You could talk about the process of getting him back.
I mean, it's like the medical staff, the training staff,
that coach. It just seems like everyone was here to
support him and support this decision, which is great.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
And he and all the other guys, it's also how
are they doing, you know, the player and so most
of the time they're just chomped the bit to get there,
to get going for extra but you know, whereas yet
swelling pain, all that movement, mobility, the coaching side, doctor's side,
get everybody together, and it's nice to have, you know,
now a year and a half relationship with Jayden, so

(02:15):
we trust one another, we know what good looks like,
we can communicate, and so we said all along, we're
going to make a smart decision, not a fast one,
and this is you know, the right call on the
right time.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
And he's ready and.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Culture offensive line. You look at them, they've been extremely physical,
especially in that run game. A lot of moving parts
there as well, with guys filling in. How has it
been watching that group come together and still find success
even through everything they've been through.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Yeah, I think every team has it. You know, there's
gonna be some adversity that hits for different teams. Sometimes
it's early, sometimes it's late, but that's part of you know,
playing and we've got a big crew. I like where
the run game is headed. I feel like we're gaining
traction in that spot. The other part of that, Brian,
that's good is the run action passes that come off
of that. The better you run, the better the play
passes you know can become. And oftentimes that's where a

(02:59):
lot of explosive plays can come from. There's downhill on
the run game and you're able to you know, rip
one past you. So the better we run, the better
the explosive passes can also come. So it's all tied
together and we feel like we're.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Gaining on it.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
We've still got plenty to do, but it'd be great
to have Jayden, you know, right in the middle of
it again.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
Yeah, it's gonna be so cool. And one one guy
in particular that sticks out to me is Chris Paul. Yeah,
kind of a late round pick. I got a soft
spot because I know, like the journey I'm getting there.
Can you talk about his work and kind of how
he's earned this opportunity because you're always talking about this
is a competitive group.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
You want to preach competition. This is a great example that.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Yeah, we have to live that logan.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
You know, if we say we're going to be about
the competition, then there can't be this person or that
person like hey man.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
That the best guys have to be able to go
do that.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
And Chris has really established himself, you know, especially in
the running game of square, the power that he has
to go and so the double teams and the movements
you can see with him and laryerm me together. But
I always love when a player has an OP and
you go take it, you know, because it not given
to them. You have to earn it. And there's still
all the competition. But he's off to a good start.
He really is proud of.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Them, and Coach, you've mentioned the running game a few times,
so let's talk about it.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Really are running back by committee?

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Three guys that no matter whose name you call, they
seem to be ready for that. How do they those
three guys compliment this office in what you guys are trying.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
To you know, what's awesome the way they compliment one another.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
And these guys are all about it, you know, in
terms of how they support one another to go and
it'll work itself out, you know, in the weeks ahead.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
We're still growing into that spot.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
Austin, you know, in the early part was there and
so we really only had two games, you know without Austin,
and so they're finding their space and making their ways.
But there's a lot to gain, and like we love
what they bring and how they compete. Past protections coming
along you know in a strong way too, and as
Logan would say that, you know, that's just as important
because you've got to be able to nail that part too.

Speaker 5 (04:46):
And one of the things coach I always thought like
kind of your superpri was was identifying people's skill sets.
And so how do you look at YOUNGLNG player like
Buck Rosky Americ kind of say hey, this is what
he's ready for. He's not ready for this yet, yeh.
Kind of find out where his where he can best.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
Yeah, and it's such a strong way that he can
make that impact. He's not doing it on teams yet.
He'll get to that spot as well. Where you know,
Dave mac has plenty of experience on to that side,
and Chris who's gaining experience. But I like that they're
all gaining and uh, when we find certain plays and

(05:21):
certain things that they'll be excellent that we keep digging
into that. But Bill on the inside runs if we
can get him to the next level, his ability to
put his foot in the ground, change directions, try to
get to the you know, to the middlefield safety and
if we can do that, Logan, I think he's got
a real chance for some big ones because of that
ability to get to the second level and then make
that person mess.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
And coach, we can have an office of discussion without
talking about Deebo Samuel and how much he's been able
to do. Let's talk to him earlier this week and
he said, this is the most fun I've ever had
in my career. I'm sure you have a lot to
do with that. How great is it having a guy
like that that you can count on to do a
myriad of things and he's found success in.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
It very quickly.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
Yeah, and he's scoring and to me, that's where you know,
like he can make the game and the impact of
return game, catching the ball, running the ball, and so
he has such a unique skill set and the closer
it gets to the first down or to the end zone,
like the harder he goes. And he's got that competitive
nature and competitive greatness about him. He's an absolute blast

(06:17):
to coach and he is always down for it.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
And I know you've coached against him, But did it
surprise you when he got in the building, like all
the stuff you could do because you see like, oh
maybe you could do this, but like to see it
in live, living color?

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Did it change your perspective of it?

Speaker 4 (06:30):
It did, because I was expecting just catching runs and screams,
not just but.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Yeah, and so seeing him.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
Work on the route tree, him work you know, on
the stems, and so the byproduct maybe the other guy's
missing he was outside inside and so there was a
connection made with that with Jayden. So, yeah, he's off
to a strong start. He is one hell of a competitor.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
And not just on offense, on the team side too,
like he can really make that.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Impact and coach on the flip side on defense is
going against a very high powered offense. What has been
your message toit of guys to continue to play what
you call commands football.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Yeah, I think number one starts with our attitude and
play style and I want that to jump off the
tape to you guys and you watch it, our friends,
our family. We've got to make sure our tackling is
on point. You know, when you play play good defense
the NFL, there's gonna be space. You've got to be
able to tackle. The second piece of that. Let's make sure,
like our leverage is exactly how we want to be,

(07:27):
whether it's in the past game, the running game.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
And so we've had a couple of games where.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
I've really liked that style where we've met it or
exceeded it, and then we've had others where we have it.
So it's time to level that out, you know where
that's just you know how we get down every time.

Speaker 5 (07:41):
And again like with some of the new like practice structures,
and you know, you can't hit every day like you
know obviously like oh if I got to get this block,
I got a block. But is there a way to
kind of help the guys see it and feel it.
That's maybe not you know us cracking skulls that practice.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
All yeah, and you do see that.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
It happens by the example of film seriously, and then
out at practice, I need to hear it, you know,
talking ahead of the call, what are the motions, where
the shifts, because if we get that part right, then
you can play fast. And I want to make sure
like no hesitation, just absolute directness of how we go
and if there's any gray or I'm not sure that
will slow you down. So like no hesitation, no missteps.

(08:20):
Let's really going to nail our communication which allows us
to play really fast.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
And culse before we wrap up. We're playing a guy
in Justin Herbert.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
We've seen a lot of different quarterbacks, but what does
his skill set make it tough to defend? And also
game planing games.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Yeah, I say two things.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
First, man, he can really rip it. And they've got
a trio of receivers that are unique in their own
way with deep shots, intermediate routes with Keenan option routes,
double moves.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
You know with Maconkey.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
But when you can see it and it comes open,
it does not take long to deliver the ball. He's
a difficult guy to get down because of the strength.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
This is a six to six big QB.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
And so when you sack them, when you finish, man,
you got like grab on and like other guys are
coming to. It's a strong player that can avoid, you know,
on the run to create first downs as well.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
And Coach, we can see and talk football all day
with you, but it's time for your favorite partners film
study Logan, Coach, appreciate you, Okay, command this family before
we hear more from our head coach Dan Quinn. If
you are listening on audio platforms, make sure you go
to command as YouTube page right now so you could
check out the film room between Logan Paulson.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
And head coach Dan Quinn. Now for more from head
coach Dan Quinn.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Coach, We've had fun with you before we let you go.
We're already has the quarter of the way through the season.
It's crazy to think we're already in week five. What
have you taken from those first four weeks that we're
going to use today against.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
The LA Charger.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Yeah, a lot.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
And I want to make sure of you and everybody
else sees, you know, the energy that we're going to
play with. You know, where that's home, that's on the road, anywhere,
anybody anytime like that has to be like La PC
wherever that goes, that travels with us, and so that
type of intensity to go. We're really looking to, you know,
push the pace and play fast and those are some

(10:10):
things that you'll see from the team today.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
And how has the team changed?

Speaker 5 (10:13):
I think you know, obviously the Commander's play style is
the constant element, right, but like the team chames, there's injuries,
Guys play better or play worse than you think they're
going to play. So how do you see it now?
And then where do you think it's going to be gone?

Speaker 1 (10:25):
And I think there's a way to win every game.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
You've heard me say this before, and I think that's true,
and so injuries happened to different ways and different you
know parts, and so the best way to win for
us in this style and how we want to play it,
and so I'm pleased that we're gaining traction in the
run game and the run action passes that go along
with that. We've got work to do to get better
on third down offensively and on the defensive side, consistent
pressure on the QB.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
You know, if we can get that done.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
Every game, day in, day out, those are some things
that we know we can play well doing. So those
are some things that we're really going to lean in
on on this next quarter and.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Culture back on the role.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
But when you looked around Atlanta kind of felt like
a ha game a lot of how great is that
to see that just keep going.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
To see that support. Yeah, it was.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
It was unexpected in some ways and nice to know
that we travel and uh man like coming out there
and seeing that outside walking out of our tunnel and
hearing it.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
It's the best feeling.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
And so we want more of it around the country
and around the world. So wherever that is, that's America,
it's in Spain, like all of it. It's it's so
appreciated by the team and we know it's not easy
and not cheap and uh, but man, is it appreciated.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
It is definitely appreciated.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Commanda's family.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
This is the game plan with here Coach dan Quinn,
the Legend Logan Pulse and I'm your host, Brian Colvid Jr.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Let's get this win today in LA. Thanks coach.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
