Speaker 1 (00:10):
Welcome into the game play with head coach Dan playing
the legend Logan Pauls and I'm your hole supply in
COVID and we are here the big Bear, Ai Man
send it studio other Bear then as you.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Call it, that coast, we're going right into it.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Monday night football again more prime time. Actually, what is
being a message to the guys as you prepare them
for this big moment?

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Man, we're pumped number one, uh, to get a chance
to go compete, and it's gonna be an awesome environment
uh for us to go play. But man, we're really
pumped to get this up and align our football, get
our football, you know, to play with you and all
our fans watch us to be aligned exactly like we wanted.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
So coach, you know, obviously extra day because of Monday night,
how you utilized that? I know sometimes the players don't this,
the players schedule doesn't change, But for the coaches, how
important is that extra day?

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (00:53):
We felt it was important, Logan to dig into us first,
you know, even before we got into Kansas City. Like
I'm saying, to make sure, what things do we need
to do to emphasize to play like we're capable of
haven't been hitting the ball like we want.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
There's some things where to tick off.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
This is that course correct time, and so we dug
in hard on ourselfs before heading into Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
And coach, before we talk about our offense, I have
to highlight Sam Cosmi coming back. I don't knew that
last time we spoke.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
What did that mean?

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Not only this team, only this locker room, but for
yourself to have a guy like Sam Cosm back.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Yeah, man, it was awesome. And you get that big
dude right back in the middle of it all and
so didn't look like you missed be And that's the
really cool thing. There's something that can come back, and
Logan can speak to this. You can come back stronger
from an injury.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
And you hear people.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Say that, but it's not just the knee, you know,
like people say you'll come back stronger, they're talking about
the entire person. He's mentally stronger, he's physically stronger. So
there's a lot that can come out of a rehab
and a turn to say, all right, you can feel
that from him, the work that he put in.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
So he's just going to keep getting.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Better as he goes to Okay, technique wise like that's
going to continue to improve, but you feel a stronger
minded person after going through something hard. And I've seen
that before. I see it what coused me too?

Speaker 4 (02:11):
And how important is to getting that piece and he's
kind of been the piece we've been waiting on for
the offensive line. How is important to get those five
guys now playing together kind of working all put on
in the same direction.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah, and the practice reps right, Yeah, that's where it
goes down, man, that practice and so that's what we
want to make sure a man every time we're out
on the field, these guys communicating throwing a great practice
day after day after day, and so to have some
continuity that will be good to get some people back
into the lineup and get practicing all together.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
That goes a long way.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Man and coach, we talked about it before, when guys
are out and allows other guys to step up with
somebody we've seen step up and been really.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Impressive with Chris Wall absolutely.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
And how impressive you've been with Chris Paulin's just seeing
how he's been able to develop, especially playing alongside of
guy like Larry.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
He has and one thing Chris has always been on
the line of scrimmage, and the fans would note, see
he is an excellent communicator. He can get the calls out,
he can move around. But I think this, you felt
the strength his hands, how strong he is. In the past,
there'd been one playoff or one here. Where did that
come from? Why that play?

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Now? Man?

Speaker 3 (03:12):
You see this consistent play time and time again. And
so I love the connection he and Larmie you know,
have built together now after some games together, and I
look forward to Sam and Josh doing that as well.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
On the right side.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
Does the communication surprise you because he's kind of, at
least in my exposure to him, kind of a quiet guy.
So is it interesting? And like, you know, it's funny.
I want to walk in the sidelines he's talking and
parking everybody. I'm like, that's a little bit different than
what I would expect that surprise you guys at all.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
It did for me early because I thought, like you,
he's quiet. But then once you sit in the line
room or you're you know, put your head near the huddle.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
You can hear what he's talking. And man, it was going.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
And so I really respected that from him as one
of our best communicators, but to put it all together
to see that come to light his strength at the line.
This league has some really strong defensive tackles and Chris
he is always down for that challenge. So having him
in saying with that kind of size and side, that's
a big deal.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
And he's not too quiet.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
I don't know if you know he's a singer.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
I've heard that.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
I've heard coach has before we go to our defense,
we're facing a tough defense and the Steak Spangannola defense
for the Kansas City Chips.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
What did you've seen.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
From him as you've watched the tape and kind of
study and prepare for this tomorrow's game.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Yeah, I like their system, good blitz package. They use
multiple fronts and so what that can mean, Brian, is
this different looks. How do you get to this play,
to this play, to this play And so for us
heading into this game, for us to be able to
use that tempo and to be on the line of
scrimmage and to play fast, that's going to be something that.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
We do and it's important that we really nail that
in this game. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
And the other thing that sticks out about them to
me is that they've kind of been in the same
defense for a long time, and it just seems like
it helps bring the defense to life in a way
that you know, like first year, second year defense have
a hard time doing. How important is that continuity for them?

Speaker 3 (04:57):
You think, yeah, because it allows people to fit into
and now that can be demonstrated as it goes. But
at each level of the defense, they've really got some playmakers.
I thought they're just they're just a sound crew logan,
you know, play in and play out. They don't beat
themselves and like I said, wellever work cut out for
us to play our way, our standards and really go

(05:19):
on the attack.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
The coach as we look at our defense. We lost
a very very important person at Durren's arms, so he
got hurt, but it allowed again we talk about these
guys that come up with step opportunity. Jacob Martin comes
in and looks impressive, comes in and feels in. How
great is it knowing that you have guys like Jacob
Martin out They're just ready for their number to be
calling and ready to get on.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
He's a great example, Brian, a guy who's like hungry
and waiting for the chance. He's intentional about his practice habits,
the way that he works.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
And so usually when you're ready.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
For that op and they comes, you're able to meet
the standards that you've said. And so Jacob's an ideal
example that, so I'm not surprised for him to have
a good game knowing that he's ready for that next step.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
When you talk about intentional practice habits for people that
maybe haven't been around practice, like can you give an
example or maybe something he does really well?

Speaker 3 (06:07):
The skill work that goes into you know, hands and
feet as a pass rusher. Oftentimes you just think I'm
running into the guy or blasting them, and that's fun,
but there's way more to it in terms of how
you time up your steps, how you get your feet,
how do you work your hands, how can you bend?

Speaker 2 (06:23):
And so that takes.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Steps and work and over and over practice or the
deliberate of like not just another play, it's how can
I get this much better? And so going against a
guy like Laramie that is impactful because he really pushes
you to your limit about what you can get. So
in practice weeks like this one, we like going against
one another to sharpen our skills up talk.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
About doing those little things.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Somebody that seems to do those little things on a
defensive line all the time as.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
A guy in to ron Pain.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Yes, well, if you've gotten to see last year and
this year, you speak on the growth of the Wron
Pain from what you saw last year when you got
in here to the development he's made the season, it's
very significant.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
I use the word intentional again with him. I felt
that from him in his own words. I'm trying to
be intentional with everything that I'm doing out on the
practice field, and he just is on it man the
pad level, his technique, his strength, his ability to communicate.
You can see him now talking up and down the
line of scrimmage. We've played him at end, at tackle,
at nose tackle. He's improved as a rusher. So yeah,

(07:23):
he is one of our heavy hitters. And he and
kin Law on the defensive tackles that that's one of
the matchups in this game that I think is a
really critical one. The interior their defensive line, their offensive line,
the interior of our defensive line. With all the speed
that they have, a big piece of that, it's going
to be our interior guys.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
And you guys called this out like in training camp
that he was like there was something different about him. Yes,
and so has it grown even from that point? I
guess my question.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
I think his performance.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Has because in the spring you see the attitude, you
see the intentionality.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
And then but getting into the opening game, there's a
screen I can one of the first i mean first
heard down and for him to just haul ass down
the livet scrimmage, make a play on the receiver. Okay,
that's a that's a person that's put in the work
because that wasn't luck, that wasn't anything other than just
as big guy moving and it's just continued to carry

(08:17):
on and culture defense.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
I have his hands full with a guy and Patrick Mahomes.
We've seen some great quarterbacks this season with Patrick Mahomes
feels like he's one of one. What makes a guy
like Patrick Mahomes so special and helps me have.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
A game plan against them.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Yeah, this will sound unusual, but this guy's a winner
and like, yeah, no doubt, but there's moments in the
game where a winner can find the spot to make.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
The play, to do the play that that's needed.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
He scrambles to you know, for a first down he
throws the pass at the right spot to the right person,
and so.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Getting a quarterback over and over is difficult to do.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
But against a competitor like that, man like you, just
you never back off. You keep finishing at it. But
that's the thing that impresses me most in the the
biggest of moments, you know, he's he can really deliver.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
Yeah, and I think that, like the thing you said
there was so interesting. It was just like it's maybe
the offense is kind of boring, but it's like he
just finds these opportunities where the game changes just from
one of the plays that he makes over the course
of the game.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Yeah, and as a good QB doesn't get bored of
throwing the check down, throwing it to where to go.
But when the moment's there for the SHOT's play and
I think he goes and that's the sign of a
really complete player that's not there, I'm gonna.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Take this one and that's my shot. Now I'm going
to go for it.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
And that's when you know when there's a chance to
go take your shot, because the coverage is finally the
right spot and you find the matchup, then you go
and he's able to go do.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
That, coach, were so excited for tomorrow's game. Before we
get to that, n LP, gotta get in that, no question.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Okay, command is family.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Before we hear more from our head coach, Dan Quinn.
If you are listening on audio platforms, make sure you
go to Commands YouTube page right now so you can
check out the film room between Logan Paulson and head
coach Dan Now for more from head coast An Quinton.
Coach has been a fun show so far. We know
you're excited for tomorrow's game. Before we do that, we

(10:10):
understand this moment. You guys are going to be an
arrowhead stadium time, all eyes on you. How you can
get guys ready for the magnitude of this moment?

Speaker 3 (10:18):
Yeah, that confidence comes from earning it, you know, the preparation,
the mindset going all the way through the week, knowing that, man,
you've hit all the details, you've gotten all the things
you need, the looks are right, and you earn.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
That right to have confidence. And when you do, then
you get moments, you know.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
Like the game where you're able to absolutely go let
it rip. And so you earn that confidence through the
week and man, then you can go let it fly.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
Yeah, And I think the other thing about Arrowhead is
it kind of has this great environment, the noise, the fans,
it's like, and how are you making sure the guys
are ready for the physical environment that's going to be
for u?

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Yeah, we had to work hard at the silent count sure,
and that's the advantage you know, from going on the road.
So if you're able to neutralize that, there is no advantage.
And so we work hard on that to we have
our ways, different counts, different ways to go about it,
and uh, you know, we'll be ready to attack in
every single way.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
And the only one to ask is like for a
young player like Connorly, how do you like these moments
are big? I know it's a big time school, but
how do you make sure that that young young players
ready to go?

Speaker 3 (11:20):
It's about the focus first, sure to make sure different look,
different player, different call, get go to the next one,
to the.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Next play, to the next play.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
And so it's about stringing those together and then knowing
what's my assignment?

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Where do I go just over and over and over.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
In the loudest environment, you know, aim, small miss, small target,
That's where I'm at, That's where I'm going.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
This is my thing.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
That's where I'm going, So we don't make it too big,
just man like, where am I targeting?

Speaker 2 (11:49):
And sure and Coach.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Something that makes us all feel better, especially in enemy
territory is knowing the best fans in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
I'm going to show up and show out exactly. Coach.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
We appreciate your time so much. It was great seeing
you guys in the film.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
Stay.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Can't wait to see what we're doing tomorrow's game.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Command is Family.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
This was the game plan with head Coach Dan Quinn.
The legend logan Paulson, I'm your host, Brian Cope Jr.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
We'll see y'all tomorrow night on Prime Time.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
