Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome back to the Players Club.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
I'm loving to Fletcher, joined by my co host sat
Tyna moss a height to the nine a K Cowboy
Killer aka johh and we got Shod Springs aka Bluefoot?
Speaker 1 (00:21):
What else they call you? What else do we call you?
Speaker 3 (00:24):
The great one?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Gonna tell you what called I don't listen to cause
we got a heck of a show for the people today.
Let's let them know what we're gonna do on this episode. Well,
you know we're gonna be back with some doves of
the week. We got to show you about our dubs
of the week, and.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
We're gonna be diving into this week four matchup against
the Falcons.
Speaker 5 (00:44):
And we got our rookie, none other than Jay Didn't
Lane then ran at the first punt return.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Looked good.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
All right, But let's get this show started and we're
gonna kick it off with dubs other week. We're coming
off that dub again the Raiders and stadium was rocket
a lot of juice out of electricity. Marcus Mariolda led
us in that game. I'm gonna start it off, man.
You know, me being a defensive guy, but.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
You love your offensive guys.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Show love I show love, but I'm gonna give I'm
gonna get it Dub of the Week to to the
defense man and particularly I'm gonna give it to the
defensive line and and Bobby wagon I'm gonna include b
Waggon that uh in that group as well.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Pain Pain was an animal, Yes, phenomenal.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Believe Ken Long did this thing during three sacks already
on the season, sacking every game. Von Miller got his
first full sag Javonte John Baptiste. He played the guys
that there's some good things in that ball game. Bobby
Wagner had two sacks. The Raiders offense never really was
(01:58):
able to get going, couldn't run the ball, got five
sacks against him. So I'm gonna get my dubs of
the week. Yeah, the defensive line and Bobby Wagner.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
I like that.
Speaker 6 (02:09):
I like that my dub of the week.
Speaker 5 (02:11):
I could easily give it to the whole entire special team,
but when you run one back, you gotta get the
guy who's going to touchdown the dub of the week.
Speaker 6 (02:18):
So mine's going to Jayden Lane. I think one of.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
The things that's huge for him, man, And you know
we're gonna get a chance to talk to him on
the show. So I'm gonna let him know that when
you're young and you're making plays like that, bro, it
just take your game to another place. And I think
we're dealing with some of the things that we've already
dealt with this year, you know, offensively and special teams wise.
Speaker 6 (02:40):
Man, it's huge for him to.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
Have a play like that, man, in a critical game
where we need to go out there and be dominant,
and also just knowing that we're gonna need some of
that same playmaking ability on the offensive side of the ball.
Speaker 6 (02:52):
So, man, that was huge for him to have.
Speaker 5 (02:53):
Every turn we've been seeing it brewing week one, week two,
he's been getting ten here, twelve here, fifteen here. You
start picking up them yards, theyre gonna start kicking away
from him, man, So I gotta to give him a double.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
And to your point, the special teams give a shout
out of Debo because.
Speaker 5 (03:06):
He was about everybody was talking about the returns, but
the special teams at the entire team, they're been dominant.
Speaker 6 (03:14):
Man, my double.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
We gotta go to Marcus Man because it's one. First
of all, it's not easy, you know, because people were
disappointed that Jay.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Jay didn't play.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Right, but his his role A guy who started in
the league. By the way, he's going to going back
to Lanta, but guy started in the league embraced his
role as a mentor to Jay. And you know, it
may be a game or some a series of two
of our guy to start at five gets nicked up.
(03:43):
I gotta come and perform. The offense look good. We
started fast London, you know, yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Turned over to run.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
But but you're you're uncertain a lot of times when
the backup comes in the game. So it feels good
that we got a guy that we feel can you
notice and you speak on London because he was Booth,
it feels like that the offense wasn't limited and then
play calling with him back there. The good thing about
it is he took all the reps during the week.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
He took the start of the reps. So yeah, that's
the difference.
Speaker 6 (04:12):
Was well prepared.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Look some of the games, like last year when he
came in off the bench, you can see it took
a couple of series for the passing game to get
They were clicking from the beginning because he had he
had that chemistry.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
At the time.
Speaker 6 (04:24):
I didn't even think about that.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
I was wondering why it was a difference in him,
like you know, from the start.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Start, and he took all the reps all week long,
and he and he they were on the same page.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
He knew the depth of the receivers.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
He knew when they're coming out of those breaks, especially
on the curl routs and those those types of things.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
He hit Debo man one of dropped. Wanted that one back.
That was a heck of a play right there the past.
So definitely, I'm gonna give it. I'm gonna give me
a second dub of the week though, Okay to the
offense of line, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. And the reason
why I'm giving it two hundred yards rushing. When you
(05:04):
rush for two hundred yards, you had two new starters
in the in the game, Andrew Wiley at at right
guard and Chris Paul and left guard. I'll tell you
what thenk Chris Paul was moving people out the clubs ball.
Speaker 6 (05:19):
Get me an opportunity to take advantage of this thing.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Physical physical, So you rushed for two hundred Well, Marcus,
you just got sacked one time. You know, that was
like a bootleg trying to pull a pull a lineman
to block him.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
That's ah, that was a difficult block. So as far
as the sacks, no, no real sacks.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
Job and for they were all.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
Like they did two starters. I gotta get a double
to them.
Speaker 5 (05:50):
I feel you on that, man, And that's a good
That was a great way. We can say segue off
of that one and get into one of my favorite segments,
fast Lane Fast Slang presented by Easton Automotive Group, Any
car anyway for everyone since nineteen eighty eight failers, you know,
fast LANs won them the segments. Man, we got we
(06:11):
got to get into this matchup. Man, what are y'all
looking forward to in this matchup? I mean we talked
a little bit about their secondary We talked a little
bit about you know, you know, the little loss of
the huge loss that they took on the road in Carolina.
What are some of the things that y'all most interested
in this matchup with us coming into their home hometown,
their home feel advantage.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
If I'm not mistaken, last year when we did the
Atlanta game, was that Michael pennock first start, the first start,
that was his first start, and we we thought last
year we was like this kid got a big arm.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Now there's no question in big arm.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
We didn't know, you know, you know, how limited he
would be in the progression going through this progression, getting
to the receivers and everything. But it's always a focus
when you got a young quarterback. He's I'm gonna start.
She ain't even got sixteen stars yet. Yeah, still a rookie.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
He's still a rookie.
Speaker 6 (06:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
So for me, it's gonna be interesting that with this
defensive way we've been playing in the back end. I mean,
they got some receivers Mooney and you know, Pitts and guys,
but I want to see how we play in this
with with coach, with scheme.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
Drake London man all that he's phenomenal, and then piss
are starting to get into his own. I think one
of the things too for me, that's that I'm kind
of you know, I'm gonna be my eyes gonna be
wide for just knowing that we had a couple of
you know, injuries in our secondary and you saw in
the second part of that game the back end of
our game last week or a lot of new bodies
(07:36):
is there. So I'm glad that they're gonna get a
full week to be able to prepare, but a lot
of guys are strusting into some roles, some major key
rolls and gave and gave, you know, the raid of
some time to you know, get some points on the
board and get some huge games.
Speaker 6 (07:48):
So I'm gonna be looking out for that. But not
only that.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
I think one of the things that me, fred And
and Logan talked about earlier this week is just it's
something funny looking with the past game or just the
offense as a whole, with Pennix being a quarterback this year.
I don't know if it's I don't know if they
allow him to be him, but it just don't it.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
Don't look it don't.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
It's not even that it's just last year. He was
a rookie and it was his first start. But it
was like it's like they're holding him back from being
himself or he's not seeing something clear enough, because I
saw a couple of clips when I'm watching tape where
guy came wide open and down the scene where he
was trying to go with the ball and he got
off it quick prematurely and went to the guy in
(08:32):
the flat and he overthrew the guy in the flat,
and I'm saying to myself, what did he see or
what did he not see? So I don't know if
if he failed a rush, I don't know if he's
you know, not anticipating the way he should. I don't
know what it is, you know what I mean. I
don't want to get out too far him to your point.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
I mean, maybe you know with preseasons, like guys got
to catch it rhythm about four or five games.
Speaker 5 (08:53):
He's making that last year without a problem.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
And not only that, but because I saw the same
player you talk about. He starts to the right and
goes through the first secondary and that the guy who
came open should.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
Have been his next.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
I passed him and just threw it, uh out to
the to the flat. I don't know if that was
the one that was to pick six that he threw.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
That might have been overthrown or might have been. I
don't think it was the pick sick. I think he
overthrew him.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Yeah, So just uh not on the same page, which
pinis are we gonna get Are we gonna get the
pinics that was inaccurate with his stoves against Carolina Pathers
Or are we gonna get the one that went into
Minnesota Sunday night, played lights out against the defense that
brings a lot of pressure on the road, hostile environment.
So you got and think about this as players. Anytime
(09:46):
we've had a sub part game that whole week, we
just we're sitting on that, yeah, and more nine to ten,
we go out and we have a really good game
that next game because we're gonna correct whatever we we
messed up, We're gonna pay attention to the details. We're
gonna overcorrect and just and usually have a better game
(10:08):
the next game.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
One of the things too, that is probably something that
we need to look look into more. Does he play
better indoors?
Speaker 6 (10:16):
You know what I mean? Because because that was an
outdoor game about.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
That Carolina he played at U dub and in the end,
but somebody now.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
Like now, is he comfortable more because he's been in
Atlanta for a year now? Is that something that we
need to look into, because I mean for him to
play like he played in Minnesota and then to have
the game that he had the week a week later home.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
Player and he played he played pretty good the first
week against the Buccaneers.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
So you see, so that was outside or that was
inside that was at the Dog.
Speaker 6 (10:46):
So we got a question that Yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
I'll say this too. Dealer would be John Robinson. Man,
that's guy. When you got him in the league.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
We rank him.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
I drafted him. I drafted him.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
One top top five.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
Yeah, when you recommend backs backs top three, you might
have to based on what he does for his team.
He might be number one now over Ta Kwan because
of what he does in the passing game too. Like
he's leading them in rushing and receiving right now with
(11:20):
Drake London, with Kyle Pitts. It's not like he's doing it.
Then he gets just some Jags out there receiver tight.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
End, he's man.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Him and Jamior Gibbs are the guys that you're talking
about that they can run in catch, but these guys
in space Gibbs at Detroit, but you're talking about a
guy in space man Like it is like we're everybody
on the teams like do not turn your back, run
to the ball, to not let your team may be
(11:50):
one on one with this guy. You got a gang
tackling And yeah, he's exciting.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
So I'm glad you brought up Gibbs. I guess you
probably I think he's No. Less, no lower than three. No, right, No,
somebody might have me one, somebody might have two, somebody
might have three. But he's top three, yes, and down
top three Barkley Gibbs.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
And because he's doing with Christian, he's doing with Christian
was doing. Yeah, So he's top three.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Whatever you want to put him with, whatever number you
want to put him in. So our linebackers, but were
gonna have to come to play.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
Drafting the fantasy you can speak on that later, keep
going man keeping.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
I mean, I don't want him to have a good game.
Speaking from some of the things, Hey, I.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Take a fantasy loss. I'll take a fantasy lost. Logus
the Commanders we win, right.
Speaker 5 (12:38):
Right, Speaking to some of the things that that they
can do offensively, What are some of the things you
want to see from our offense this week?
Speaker 2 (12:46):
I want to so obviously run the ball like we did.
That's that's gonna be key. It's gonna be critical looking
at the focus d speak. I'm gonna speak on them,
but I'm gonna speak on the Falcons in their blitz
package right now.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
They got this linebacker number zero.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
It's a Diablo, Yes, sir, he's gonna Our backs are
gonna have to They're gonna have to their neck.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
Yeah he turned hand.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
So yes, and they bring a blitz. They bring four
straw four wig.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
A lot of times you're getting that running back having
to block him, so we.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Line that protections to the to the blitzer, right.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Yeah, so or just they usually have somebody right in
that a gap, so the center has to help help
the guy who's in that that a gap, that nose shaded,
so that leads the back to pick the other a gap,
blitz her up and it's a linebacker he coming in there.
He I mean, he's bringing it, so our backs gonna
(13:51):
have to bring it.
Speaker 5 (13:51):
What is some of the things offensively that you can
scheme up to slow people down that bring blitzes like that?
I wanted to ask you that because I'm pretty sure
you've been on teams where you had that same kind
of job, or y'all had the same kind of I
guess you can say success and getting to the quarterback
like that. What are some of the things you can
do formation wise.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
To I think a little difference is now the game
has changed where you got guys like Deebo when I
slot and you can get it in his hands immediately
on the bubble and you can you can block, you
can block the extra defender a guy like that's one
on one with the guy in the slots. So debo
when you have a with smooth talking about last week
the alert guy like that that kind of like you
(14:32):
can blitch but also blitzing.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Mean you're gonna have a one on one.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
And now we're getting to and before we were getting ball,
they were getting all coordinators were getting the ball. Slants,
quick eyes, hits, the santanna you know that. But now
the game has even changed anymore. It's like horizontal bam,
like how do I get it in his hands? There's
a couple of different things you can do screen game,
screen game like tight end screen ye wide receiver screen,
(14:59):
the bubble, running back, slip screen.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Also max pro.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Yeah, at least seven man protection, max it up two
man routes.
Speaker 6 (15:14):
So now I saw I saw its have two.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
We had more guys on the line at one particular time,
like one drift we had like I'm not sure if
it was two tight ends or we brought in we
had another of alignment.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
We brought it got to so we were thirteen personnel time.
So you can max pro it and do a bunch
of two man routes. Let them go out and if
they can't get on the top of the deep curls and.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Also run the ball.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Yes, a lot of times, especially if you know where
the blitz is coming, run away from that blitz, and
more often than not, you somebody might get cut off.
You get you can see gas in the in the
blitz game.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
I was watching the game. Heck, it might have been us.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
It was us against them, might have been last week
against the Raiders. Well, we blitzed Bobby Bobby. Yeah, so
one time, the one time they actually had some success.
They caught Bobby going through and we were we were little,
we were shorter man because they ran away and they
got about maybe about eight yards or something like that.
(16:16):
But that's another way, like you could have some success,
uh against the blitz.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
Yeah, you know, if it all comes back down to
how we established our run like we last year, If
we're dominated up front with those guys.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Man, then he's so talented. I want to hear about
you in the passing game from you. With the the Falcons,
they got the number one ranked pass defense, very well coached,
mixed it out. They bring pressure they got better rushers
now as well. They they spent two first round draft
picks on on edge rushers. That was really their a
(16:55):
killers hill last year, not being able to get pressure
on the quarterback. But second and Darry wise, they've been
sticky and coverage. How can we get.
Speaker 6 (17:04):
How much man coverage out they shown?
Speaker 5 (17:07):
Because when you have a team that blitz like that
and it has good rushes, you normally see them pressed.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
They're playing their lead coverages covered three, they're playing with
cover threats.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
It's like a three match.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
Yeah, So it's Jeff Albrick, who's their defensive coordinator, works
come from Jack work for Sala who work for the
Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
So it's that three match.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
So it's uh, it's almost like man, they play man.
Once you get.
Speaker 5 (17:39):
Field, you gotta you gotta get them in some of
those funky tight splits and be able to use the
feel a little more, you know what I mean, Because
you don't want especially when you got a guy, when
you got guys that's coming off the edge and then
you got great packages with your blitz, I want I
don't never want to see us spread it out because
it's gonna be hard to get the ball out. Why
if you do see us spread it, you're getting the
ball to the slot or the right now, you know
(18:01):
what I mean, Because you got to think in your head.
Your clock got to be going off real fast. If
you know that pressure is gonna be come, especially if
we're not. If we're not you know blocking it well,
you know, if you're getting a guy to come in
every time, that's gonna speed your quarterback up.
Speaker 6 (18:14):
You got to have a hot guy. You gotta have
that tight.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
End and something where he's he has a favorable matchup
that you could are probably gonna always attack. Which that's
one of the things I love about having who we
have as a tight end. I think, man, look, when
you have a zach Ertz that can just dominate man
the man, and that know how to get into those zones.
When you have a debo that's always close to the
(18:36):
line of scrimmage like that, you can probably even use
him the chips sometime or fak and just pop out.
You need those kind of kind of routes in your
game plan. And then what that's gonna do is make
them be more respectful about what they're doing up front.
Speaker 6 (18:50):
And then now you can get the guys on the outside.
Speaker 5 (18:53):
But like I said before, if you get him in
those bunches, those those zips, those tight coverages where you
can be able to say, okay, I got you, I
got you, I got you closer now and I'm gonna
spread you out. You get some of the high lows
in like like you get a guy on one of those.
I just saw a team do this well the other day.
I forgot who I was watching. It was Monday night football,
I believe, and they ran the guy on the option
(19:16):
route in the inside and the slot. He either had
the incut outcut or sit down, and the guy behind
him came in on the back end on a little
dig right behind him.
Speaker 6 (19:26):
You can kill them all day.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
With the Falcons to look at them, and I just
I'm glad this this this.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
AI is amazing. HEYI big bear AI. As a matter
of big Bear at a command.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
So this year Falcons have been playing twenty one percent
man last year they were forty one percent. To show
you the difference of philosophy, they've been seventy six percent
zone come.
Speaker 6 (19:56):
So so yeah, now you tell me a lot of but.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
To blues point for the outside corners cover three that
really turns.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
That man man.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
Yeah, so you're getting you can put that a little
bit of the man window as well.
Speaker 5 (20:11):
Yeah, I just think it's gonna be short throws to
get things going, a lot of a lot of you
know things. How we do it, you know, we run
our offense like that anyway already. I think our offense
is one of the offenses that you really see us
stretch the field with our guys until we get enough,
until we get the.
Speaker 6 (20:26):
Change moving, you know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (20:28):
Once we get the change moving, then we take those shots,
you know. And so that's what I love about it.
We're gonna we're gonna dink and dunk you and make
you be honest, you know, make you play into our
hands the way we want you to play. And then
we hit you downfield when we get you, you know, slacking, and.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
We gotta give a shout out because that Jerry gray
is over there.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
We called him the oracle o Matrix. I would be
in the middle of the.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
Game, I just remember Jerry Grayton and y'all watch come back.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
On me and Jerry would be having a full out
conversation doing all right slant slat. But a lot of
times he was right man, and but one of he
can coach one of the things. And I tell you
all quick story, and I didn't realize how important it was.
(21:20):
Shawn's first year, Sean Taylor's first year, and Greg Williams
is all about you gotta the safety's got to make
the calls and the right right calls. But Jerry is
all about everybody's got to be on the same page.
So Jerry, he got so mad that me and Smooth
didn't make the calls and Walt didn't make the calls
(21:40):
because he didn't like the fact that you know, Sean
was the first year. You know he gonna wait and everything.
So Jerry would get mad and be like, no, you
make calls. Everybody. Everybody has to be on the same page.
Everybody has to talk. And that's how that's a sign
of it. And they will be well coaching the back end. Yeah,
on far as communication, that's why you're good past this.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
Just get off coverage standpoint.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
So I'm looking at this, uh, this percentage of the
brows they played forty nine percent. Man, man, everybody be
of us.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
Great lies and Greg Bloes Greang Blasch called one call,
keep playing fifty bad sixty five roaster.
Speaker 6 (22:20):
Yeah, you ain't get in the quarterback you getting.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
Top top, you know, and thinking about matchups, thinking about
because we matched up with everybody, Yes, sir, matchup this
week man, fellas le's talking about some of the matches
to watch out for, you know, starting with you tanning
what you got.
Speaker 5 (22:42):
I think my biggest matchup is going to be you know,
their secondary against our receivers, especially our young guys. Man,
it was great to see McCaffrey get into the mix
of it, you know, last right, because you know, I'm
big on if you're out there, you're going to have
a purpose. Sooner or later, you're gonna be called upon.
And that's why I was telling Jalen. You know, I'm
probably gonna tell him a little more too when we
(23:02):
get a chance to sit down and talk to him.
Is that look, man, that punt return was more than
just a punt return for our team.
Speaker 6 (23:10):
It was huge for your confidence.
Speaker 5 (23:11):
You're huge for your but for just the things that
you're going to be asked to do going further, you
know what I mean throughout this season and going forward.
I mean and so when you have guys that can
do both and you have guys who are due threats. Man,
you know, take on that responsibility of leaning on those.
Speaker 6 (23:27):
Veterans because they gonna need you.
Speaker 5 (23:28):
And I remember being on them Puffs in New York
and those guys told me, we're gonna need you.
Speaker 6 (23:33):
We're gonna need to see it sooner or later.
Speaker 5 (23:34):
And that's what I want to I'm gonna let him
know we gonna need to see that, because offensively, it
can't just be all on Terry and Debo, especially from
the receiver standpoint, we need you to use that full
three speed and be able to get you know, stretch
the field sometime and at times she might be a decoy,
but we might need you to take the top off
so somebody else can get open.
Speaker 6 (23:52):
So that's the matchup I'm looking for.
Speaker 5 (23:54):
We're talking about Gray, Jerry Gray right, talking about what
he can do.
Speaker 6 (23:58):
And I remember his years here. Man, he's always.
Speaker 5 (24:01):
Tapped me, hate Tenner check this out, trying to show
me something. Jerry talking, you know, but he talked to hem,
very knowledgeable of the games, just knowing that he's going
to be a stickler all week to his secondary telling
them what you got to do to stop d boy,
what you got to do to stop earth. He gonna
even what you gotta do to stop Terry, He's going
to be in their ears. So that's gonna be my
(24:21):
biggest matchup.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
I look at our old line versus there no our
D line versus their old line. This is a game
where the D line we had we had the game
against the Giants and the game against the Raiders, they
were dominant on the rod.
Speaker 4 (24:42):
We gotta be even more dominant. And especially this game
right here, because you have an offense that has struggle
through through three games this season.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
They've struggled.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
You don't want them to gain any type of confidence
how to that game, confidence by being able to run
them by panics, being comforted for the pocket they coming.
They're coming into this game.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
It won't take a take them long to remember the
struggles they had against the Carolina Panthers, the struggles.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
They've had so throughout this season.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
So and the quickest way to do that is t
after t off, t off on them, Get after Geno,
I mean Geno after Michael Pennis, make him uncomfortable, bottle
of b John as much as possible.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
You're not gonna shut them down, below them down, but
we have to.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
We have to be relentless. It has to be the
Burgundy sea. Yeah, they need to see it. He needs
to see it and see.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
It Burgundy and go see that's interesting.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
Man, That that that that's what you're looking for. What
I got?
Speaker 1 (25:53):
I got a little test right there, but I put
myself out. I was like, Man, I used to love
these type of games. Right.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
The thing for me, man is.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
Atlanta got guys that that that that they create receivers
And now you know we still got you. You talked
about our receivers, gonna say DB's Atlanta got guys that
can that can create weird matchups like Kyle Pitts. A
lot of people don't know, like this dude is a
freak show coming out coming.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
Out of Florida.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
Man, we I thought he was one of the best
Titans you've seen.
Speaker 6 (26:32):
But now he's like starting to get starting to get
his feet wet.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
A little bit.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
But he's like like he's like six five, How big
is he? Like six fives?
Speaker 4 (26:39):
I think he might be six six, But he ain't
really a receiver. He ain't really a tight end. So
he creates a matchup. Who do you put on him?
Speaker 7 (26:46):
Right?
Speaker 8 (26:46):
Like?
Speaker 4 (26:46):
What and we got guys and then you got Mooney,
who can fly, who can go get it. He got
Ray Ray McLeod who you know, we had a chance
to see him here in the ACC on the East
Coast and the Clemson Show. I want to see how
we feel, you know, how we fare in size and
the different matchups that's created. I'm I'm on the opposite society.
I want to see our secondary against their receivers. Because
(27:08):
Lennon talks about getting out the Michael Pennix and only
and you know, one of the reasons why he may
struggle a little bit against Minnesota because Minnesota, you know,
I mean, you played well against Minnesota, who had good
guys in the secondary. We got a good secondary. So
it's gonna be interesting to see our matchups. And I'm
particularly white. We got to tighten it up. Man on
the we can't we can't keep giving up these exposed
(27:29):
to plays though it's just uh, the continued Joe Joe Whit.
He talked about the eyes, discipline and stuff like that.
Continue to harp on that, that's you gotta continue to
harp on the details.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Eyes, eyes hides.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
You can't be we can't be so so apped up,
especially when you have a back like Bijon. Yeah, as
a secondary player, whether you're a safety, corn, or whatever
the case may be, you can't be thinking, Hey, I'm
gonna run in here and make this tackle at the
line of scrimmage and it's play action this boot like
they did, like the Raiders did.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
First play the game against the first place.
Speaker 4 (28:06):
We have to we have to make sure how were
looking at for health wives in the back end, and
we know what's going to happen like in the back end,
like we'll find out we're gonna get along with because
regardless was playing, got to be disciplined.
Speaker 6 (28:22):
Get you gotta be disciplined too.
Speaker 5 (28:23):
When you see it's time for my my, we're gonna
talk about the memories. Memories, What memories you guys have
for going against these falcons? Man. I know we all
played a long time, man, so y'all throw them at me.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
Man, my memories man, Like in Seattle, we we went
down to the Georgia Dome. And the crazy thing about
it because oftentimes match up receivers, but this was the
first time in my life I matched up on a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Michael then signed me to they signed me. I was
despired on Michael vec.
Speaker 6 (28:56):
And how to love to be a flyer in that building.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
And and Mike. You know, everybody know Mike, he can run,
he can get it. And I was just like, are
you really putting a corner on a quarterback? Does anybody
deserve our respect?
Speaker 1 (29:11):
And love it? Man?
Speaker 4 (29:13):
I chased him down one time. I got him my
shoe string. I said, we happen to get serious. And
this boy special with the ball in his hands. So
I just remember going to and Coach Reeves recipes for
man Dan Rees. I grew up with coach Dan Reese,
who was the head coach at the time. He was
my dad's running back coach and Cowboys under Tom Landry
and all those guys. So I had a special relationship
with Coach Reeds when he was in New York and
(29:35):
when he was in Atlanta. So man, going down to George,
I always love hitting that city of Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
I love Atlanta Blue. I too spotted Michael Vick. I
got I know Spook would have been spot. I guarantee
you that. I guarantee you that.
Speaker 6 (29:53):
Man, I knew it wouldn't They were gonna get the
whole thing.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Man to talk about it, we played it. We played
the four Falcons. I played down there so many times,
especially when when I was in Saint Louis. They were
in the same division. About that, right, so we're playing
we're playing them. Who was on that team that's before Victo, right,
we played against I played against Vic uh and Chris.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
Chandlery j U Jamal Jamal Sturdy and we.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Got after because my rookie year, that's when they were rolling. Yeah,
that's when they went to the NFC Championship game. They
killed us. Then the next year we got good and
started doing things. But Atlanta, man, I tell you.
Speaker 5 (30:39):
This though, one of the things that then you know,
we could talk about us playing Atlanta. I think my
first memory came from the Falcons. When I was at
the Hurricanes. They was they had played the Super Bowl
in Miami, and they practiced at our feeld, and so
they used our lockers.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
And it was.
Speaker 5 (30:56):
Funny that that Tony Martin wide receiver, super tim Da White,
the short White wide.
Speaker 6 (31:03):
Receiver, he was punt return demon.
Speaker 5 (31:05):
All those guys was in me and Reggie Wayne's locker
and Andre Johnson's locker, and I remember them leaving notes
to us, man like keeping big fans of y'all keeping
doing so that they gave me inspiration to like, I'm
finna do this one day, Like I'm gonna be there
in their shoes doing this. Because I was already looking
at Tony Martin. He was he was a hometown hero
(31:26):
of mine. He was from I ain't so I pressed
him probably fifty times. I ain't testing yet, so about
to ask you how.
Speaker 6 (31:35):
And he was a former quarterback in high.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
School quarterback I know t mind from the Chargers. One
of the most underrated guys receivers, don't give probably my
second most underrated receiver I ever played a gamest Jimmy
Smith in the first Jimmy Smith Smith hard. But but
Tim Martin was nice. Man, I play I covered team Tim.
The White College shut him down. That was but anyway we.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
Got but man, that's a cool now.
Speaker 5 (32:01):
But yeah, that was my first memory of it. But
then you fast forward. I get into the league. Man,
I'm looking at my number. See one of the things
I love when Maddie them give us our little stats
and stuff like that, and I see I played them
four times in my career and I had over three
hundred some yards.
Speaker 6 (32:14):
I remember some of the touchdowns.
Speaker 5 (32:16):
I think my fondest memory of one of my most
special touchdowns against Atlanta was Kirk Cousins first touchdown. It
was his first play that he came in for injured RG.
Speaker 6 (32:29):
Three.
Speaker 5 (32:30):
We had been running this route. It's called a dagger.
Three receivers. You got me and the slot pe on
my side, and then he might have another receiver might
have been Josh Morgan or Lyndard Hankerson, and the dagger
was both of the outside guys will be Leonard and
Pierre will run deep sixteen yard ends and I'm this
guy in the slot. So whoever side I'm on, I'm
taking either that safety if it's single high, or I'm
(32:53):
splitting split safeties if it's covered two. And I had
been running this since RG at quarterback every week we
run dagger and Kyle Shanahan would tell me, Tanner, you're
not the read, but if they give us the coverage
we're looking for, he should hit you.
Speaker 6 (33:09):
I kid you not.
Speaker 5 (33:10):
I would sit there and tell Perre when he's getting
the ball, when he's not getting the ball. So a
couple of games we played in I wasn't to read,
but if I'm open, you hit that guy. And I
was open a couple of times, and I'm sitting there
like damn could have had an easy touchdown. And Hick
jogs in were playing Atlanta. RG goes out. We called
(33:32):
Dagger and Kurt and he's in that quarterback and some
told me, Tanner, just run this route. Might get the
ball this time because this guy here, Kirk be.
Speaker 6 (33:41):
On the sideline.
Speaker 5 (33:42):
Now, he's cold as all outdoors, but he watched fem
and I know he's a parkeet passer.
Speaker 6 (33:46):
He see things a little differently. Man.
Speaker 5 (33:48):
I get cross the line back and I see everybody
up and I said, look up, man, because.
Speaker 6 (33:52):
They blew the coverage.
Speaker 5 (33:54):
Ball in there coming right to me seventy some yards
kurk first touchdown I catch, and I'm just I'm laughing,
running like I'm glad I ran this route hard because
it been the one time I took off. Because I
haven't gotten it yet, they would throw it out and
I looked at Curtry. I said, Kurt, that's why you know,
Kyle and Mike think so highly of you, because they
(34:16):
knew of you as being in that pocket pass that
watches that he read the defense.
Speaker 6 (34:21):
He saw that not to read.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
But I'm throwing to the open, gonna get one more store,
one more foxing story.
Speaker 6 (34:28):
Man.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
Last time we played Atlanta.
Speaker 6 (34:32):
This thirteen thirteen?
Speaker 1 (34:33):
Was it thirteen?
Speaker 6 (34:34):
It was thirteen thirteen, Yeah, last year.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
So I'm going against Tony Gonzales. Man, Tony Gonzales six
six long arms.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
I mean, I know what we are run the same
age at this time too.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Yes, we're cover four quarters coverage. You got the way three.
I got number three.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
Now the way we played it like, I got them
most of them, I can have to like this one.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
I knew it was time to retire. Man, well I
knew before that, but I just like you did it.
Speaker 4 (35:07):
But listen, when I played my quarters cover certain time ends,
I'm gonna get.
Speaker 6 (35:12):
Up and press him.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
So I'm literally talking to him. Man, I know about you,
about the run you're running, this scene about the ball
coming to you.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
He's like, no, it ain't coming to me, Man, the
ball come to you.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
I studied the field this, I know what's happening. So
I'm talking to him and I jailed about the line
of scribbles. But he's still he's so big he was
able to get outallright. So he gets something and I
felt like I got enough of him to where the
ball was gonna have to have a little bit of there.
Speaker 4 (35:41):
Maybe my safety could come over with help. He catches
the ball, I missy safety missing. He scored a touchdown.
I was just like, man, this.
Speaker 5 (35:49):
Is just.
Speaker 4 (35:53):
The mind is willing. I knew it was coming. I
can't do nothing, ain't do nothing. It's tired to go
ahead and get on the couch back.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (36:04):
I mean, hey, I tell you, man, some of those memories,
you know, and one of the things about us, man
being ball players, Man, we know we don't want to quit.
Speaker 6 (36:11):
We don't never want to be that quitter. So I
understand your pain.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Man. All right, man, let's talk. Let's let's talk about
the rest of the league.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
I know most of the time we focus on our
team and and the teams that we're playing, going against
that opponent coming up, But a lot of stuff going
on in our division opponent, the Giants, they made the
choice they benched Russell Wilson with the rookie Jackson dark.
Speaker 6 (36:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (36:34):
I hated to see Rust in that situations playing great too, Man,
two weeks ago.
Speaker 6 (36:39):
He played great this this past week.
Speaker 5 (36:41):
Man, Like I'm a big fan of Russ and I'm
one of those guys. Man, Like anytime you've shown me,
uh a body of work over a period of time
that I can I can always just say this is you.
When I see something different, it's almost in the back
of my head too, Like you know what, Bro, you
should have it in your head to say, you know what,
I can't keep putting bad stuff on tape. And I
(37:02):
just saw a guy that couldn't be himself. Couldn't And
when I see himself Russ known for extending that.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
Play with that conversation, Yeah.
Speaker 6 (37:11):
Yeah, he can't do it no more.
Speaker 5 (37:12):
And so when I saw him on fourth down in
the red zone throw a ball to a gold post
just because you didn't want to take a sack or
you want to get the ball off.
Speaker 6 (37:21):
It's a rap man, you know.
Speaker 5 (37:22):
So I don't know if Jackson Dark gonna get him anymore,
you know, because you might have to call on your
boy famous amens out the you know, off the sideline too,
Jameis Winston.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
You might not.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
I'll say this though, they probably can do a little
bit more, bring a little bit more to the office,
maybe some r because he gonna be able to move.
Speaker 6 (37:42):
They they all got a little Josh Allen.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
There was a deep ball with with with Russ and
probably some quick game.
Speaker 6 (37:49):
Yeah, that's it.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
Nothing, not a whole lot.
Speaker 4 (37:52):
It's early going to Jackson Dark though it feels a
little early. It feels a little premature.
Speaker 6 (37:57):
So who would you have? So would you?
Speaker 4 (38:00):
First week against the first week? Our defense? Give credit
to the Washing the defense. We were relentless. He played
great against Dallas. It wasn't his fall. And I mean
we we we three four weeks into the season. Bro,
they run games, thinks, what is Jackson Dark gonna do
(38:21):
but scramble.
Speaker 6 (38:22):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
I don't know that.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
I'm glad we got our quarterback in the division. Michael
Parks is going back home Dallas and Jared's.
Speaker 6 (38:33):
Listen, listen, it's gonna be mussy TV, my TV.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
I will be watching my if I'm I'm not chipping him.
Speaker 5 (38:46):
At least three, I can't tip him in the inside.
He's gonna get three. I'm gonna tell you at least
three and plus uh.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
They got big boy on the other side from Michigan,
Shawn gerrit Man.
Speaker 5 (38:58):
If he don't get three sets, he getting lead five
five precious well in one second.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
To be fair, Dallas practice against them all the time,
so they know they know his strength.
Speaker 6 (39:07):
And we don't mean nothing, That don't mean nothing.
Speaker 4 (39:09):
They gotta run at him, gonna run. But it's as
much c TV happens, that's gonna be some good drama.
Speaker 5 (39:14):
Because you gotta think Michael Parsons is not all they
have over there in Green Bay. So so when you
try to stop him and you can't stop Gary and
Vans and all the mother dudes, then you're gonna have
a long day.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
Here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (39:26):
And I wanted to see Green Bay on the road
because we saw what they were like the first two
weeks of the season. Beat Detroit at home, beat US
on the short week Thursday night football, and they're looking
like man like they're representing the NFC in the Super Bowl,
if them or Philadelphia.
Speaker 1 (39:42):
But then they go to Cleveland.
Speaker 4 (39:44):
Any given Sunday, lose that game thirteen ten, first roll
game of the season. Miles Garrett, Now you got another
road game.
Speaker 5 (39:55):
Yeah, and you know what will be shocking if the
if the Cowboys give the give it to him like
like really showed him, like the boy didn't look Yes,
old CD limits, but somebody got step up. I think
that run game is better than what it was last year.
So yeah, that is run game is a lot better
than what it was last year.
Speaker 4 (40:12):
Now, let's be honest. Cleveland has some got some special people.
Miles Garrett was just an absolute monster. Danzel Ward they
got they littered the first round dropping cowboys don't have
that on defense.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
Did you see that?
Speaker 8 (40:25):
Did you see that clip with the dude say alright, man, listen, listen,
man what we got?
Speaker 3 (40:35):
Then we got the who else?
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Uh? Eagles? The Eagles? Eagles?
Speaker 4 (40:41):
Now that was nineteen points down. Yeah, yes, I mean
that was just man. A. J. Brown took over, just
was a grown man. You had to slim reaper out
there making to I mean, I mean, we ain't gonna
hype him up too much, Bears, we still gotta see
him up. But all right, listen up to be done.
They were resilient, man like they and then the block
(41:04):
and kick at the end when it ran.
Speaker 3 (41:06):
Now, granted I thought the Rams dominated, Oh.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
Yeah I did too.
Speaker 6 (41:11):
When all got a chance to watch it, they looked
very dominant.
Speaker 1 (41:15):
All right, man. So after the break we got Jalen
Lane joining.
Speaker 6 (41:19):
Us NFL fans.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
So after you have a big punk return like that
for a touchdown, we gotta bring you on the players.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
How did it feel, man?
Speaker 7 (42:23):
That was one of the best feelings you can have
in life.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
Man.
Speaker 9 (42:26):
You know, you see that open field and you just
got to hit the jets and go get it.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
And we were saying, don't get caught by the kick.
Speaker 7 (42:33):
That's what I was to say.
Speaker 6 (42:36):
I said, No, I know you from behind.
Speaker 7 (42:39):
I wouldn't he wouldn't hear the end of that.
Speaker 6 (42:41):
Now.
Speaker 5 (42:41):
One of the things I love about you or your
part return game is just me and be Mitch always
talking about we in the sweet watching you because both
of us, you know, Be Mitch was He's a legend
for doing punt returns, kick returns here and and I
did them throughout my career. I think that's one of
the reasons why I was the first round draft pick
to the Jets because of my punt return abilities.
Speaker 6 (43:01):
You're fearless about it.
Speaker 1 (43:02):
Bro.
Speaker 5 (43:02):
You get back there, you see the ball, you catch
it effortlessly, and you attacking you coming downhill. Did that
was that something in your game that had to be
taught to you or did you just have that from
the start?
Speaker 9 (43:12):
I mean, you know, we always talk through that kind
of stuff, being aggressive, attacking vertical, But you know, I
feel like that's always been part of my game. You know,
I don't I don't like to do too much side
to side, too much joking, especially in this league. Everybody fast,
everybody can run, so you got to get vertical and
you know, attack them, put the pressure on them. But
also confidence coming from the guys that's blocking for me.
You know them boys, they work hard and you see
(43:35):
it on tape. Mama, touchdown. I had to make one
dude miss and everybody else block your job at least
make it. Got to make one dude miss, but everybody
else blocked up. So you know they make it easy
on me.
Speaker 4 (43:45):
So you're coming into camp. Man, we watched it and
think on the theme of special teams. Man, you just
embrace that role. Man, did you feel like this is
a way I can make an impact on this team,
make the team?
Speaker 6 (43:56):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (43:56):
Yeah, for sure. Man.
Speaker 9 (43:57):
You know me being the fourth round guy, you know,
I know was gonna play special teams and I know
my role especially te gonna contide to expand. But you know,
if that's the way I'm gonna impact the team, is
what it is, what it is, and I'm gonna do
it the best my ability.
Speaker 2 (44:12):
So we like to take you get to know the
player grew up in South Carolina. Yeah, yeah, I was
just looking at it as a high school saying seventy
six receptions for over sixteen. More importantly, what I found
interesting you playing for your dad. He was the he
was your head coach.
Speaker 1 (44:30):
He was playing growing up, playing for your dad playing
for him in high school? What was that like? Man?
Speaker 9 (44:37):
Like he was very hard on me, like he had
to be, just because you know, he didn't want people
to He was like, you're gonna earn everything you get.
Speaker 7 (44:46):
I'm not gonna give you nothing.
Speaker 9 (44:47):
Nobody gonna be able to say, oh you don't, were
you starting because your pops. So like, you know, up
until that senior year, you know, I senior year, I
kind of came into my own. You know, I had
like three hundred yards a year before something. So it's like,
you know, once I took that next step, I could
feel him like he's seen what I was becoming. And like,
(45:08):
of course he was still hard on me, but like
he was especially yeah, you weren't working and especially after
high school.
Speaker 7 (45:15):
Man, he'm my number one fan now. Man.
Speaker 4 (45:17):
Yeah, so you mentioned only having three hundred yards your
junior year. Is that while you were kind of underrecruited
or I saw where you went to college.
Speaker 1 (45:25):
You went to Middle Tennessee.
Speaker 9 (45:26):
Yeah, right out behind that and I was about five six,
one thirty.
Speaker 3 (45:30):
So you put up those numbers in one hundred and
thirty and forty pounds.
Speaker 9 (45:35):
Man, seeing Yeah, I got it one fifty yeah, the same,
but you know I was I was definitely small school.
Speaker 5 (45:42):
It's a little different too. Tell me this though about yourself.
Think about all that that you say you went through.
You know, from high school, had to go to Middle
Tennessee State, then you go to v Tech.
Speaker 6 (45:53):
What was that transition like?
Speaker 5 (45:54):
Because you know, if from me just watching you play
against the Kinges like a year ago, I would have
thought you've been there for three.
Speaker 6 (46:01):
Or four years.
Speaker 5 (46:01):
So what was that transition from coming from one school
to another?
Speaker 7 (46:04):
I mean, yeah, that comes with all these different challenges.
Speaker 9 (46:07):
I think what helped me is when I transferred, I
kind of came in with a bunch of other transfers,
so it was like it was like the transfer is
coming in. We kind of like, so y'all all got yeah,
Like uh, it was me, Deycoren Felt and Alie Jennings
base all too, and a lot of guys that was
in this draft class we were transferred in in twenty
twenty three, So it's kind of we came in together
(46:29):
and we kind of built a bond through that. But
also it's just earning respect. You know, that's the number
one thing you gotta do, and I kind of I
felt like that helped me at this point.
Speaker 6 (46:38):
Too, you know, because you've been through that before.
Speaker 9 (46:40):
I've been through that, so I know, Man, I got
to earn my teammates respect before all, and then it's
gonna trickle down and go.
Speaker 6 (46:46):
Oh you got to write. You got the right mindset.
Speaker 5 (46:47):
I think with any player, you know, people fail to
realize that regardless of what you did before, you have
to recreate that you have to earn that you have
to and that's the and that's that's how you know
you're going to be a great player in this lead
because you have the right mindset. You're not coming here
with no cockiness. You was like, look, man, they don't
know what I have. Let me go out there and
show them. And once I show them, then you can
(47:09):
give me all the praise. But I don't even care
about the praise. I got to be this person each
and every time I step on the fields.
Speaker 6 (47:14):
I love I love it about you.
Speaker 4 (47:16):
In camp I talked to Bobby Ingram. He was one
of my teammates in Seattle. Great, great dude, smart dude
he gave you. I just remember that conversation. I said, Man,
I like this kid that you had made it catching
a corner of the end Z on the practice. I said, said, Bobby, Man,
I really like this kid. What you think about him?
He said, let me tell you one thing about him.
He said, he wants to learn. But when you tell
him something soon, like most guys take a while to
(47:40):
kind of implement that. He's like, he could tell you something,
you go do it right away. Man, because the coaching kid,
Why is that that? But that's a huge compliment that
your coach can say that about you.
Speaker 9 (47:48):
Yeah, I feel like my Pop's kind of instilled that
into me, like especially him. You know, he's probably the
hardest coach I ever had on me, just because so
like with him being like that, I feel like I
can take any type of coaching and.
Speaker 7 (48:03):
Just be able to apply it as quick as I can.
Speaker 9 (48:06):
And you know, just being coachable that's the best way
for you to get on the field and just learning
from your mistakes.
Speaker 4 (48:13):
You've seen wives beyond your years, man, and I saw
where you just got married.
Speaker 1 (48:22):
Got married, Well, tell us about your wife.
Speaker 9 (48:24):
Mad high school sweethearts Man, we went to both went
to Colovid School in South Carolina, and we kind of
we were always in the same friend group, but we
didn't start really rocking with each other till senior year.
Speaker 7 (48:39):
I'm like, DANMG, I'm.
Speaker 9 (48:40):
About to go off to college. But we stuck through
with long distance for a minute. And I proposed July
last year and got married in June this year.
Speaker 6 (48:52):
That's big.
Speaker 5 (48:54):
And then you know, one of the things people failed
to realize and you coming in being a young guy,
that foundation you've built already, you know what I mean.
That's one thing of having the foundation you know from
your parents bring up. But when you have to go,
that's a huge commitment and to be young for you
to do that, that's now.
Speaker 6 (49:11):
I'm not surprised why you're handling.
Speaker 5 (49:12):
Your business on field because you got your focus, you
know what I mean. You you have your priorities in
front of you and you know what, you know what
you have to do. What I want to say too
is get off of that. What I want to say,
when it rains, it pours. So I want you to
know that when you out there now, they're gonna either
kick it away from you because you're a threat, but
(49:34):
when you touch that thing, make sure they feel it
because because trust me, your confidence is through the roof.
Speaker 1 (49:38):
Now.
Speaker 5 (49:39):
I mean, whether you believe it or not, your game
gonna get better as a receiver, and you're gonna and
and and trust me, Before it's all said that, I'm
gonna put it out there. I want to be talking
about you as one of the lead and punt returners
in this league this year.
Speaker 6 (49:50):
Man, I wish the best for you.
Speaker 4 (49:52):
Man, that's awesome. You got some great receivers in your room. Man,
you got you got Terry Deebo. You know, how have
those guys you talking about earning every back to your teammates,
How those guys influence your game or what you learn
from them?
Speaker 1 (50:04):
Man?
Speaker 9 (50:04):
Man, from the day I got you know, Deevo soccer
line of guy to my pops, actually coached against him
when Debo was in high school. Wow, crazy, I was
a ball boy on the sideline. So yeah, so you
know it got a connection there. But like you know,
they just continue to pour into me, you know, through
the ups and downs of OTA's camp, and they've just
(50:25):
continued to help me grow each and every day I'm
asking questions, they got answers for me, you know what
I'm saying. So and even when I don't ask questions,
they still like Terry coming to me random even talk
about life, talk about ball, whatever, it's just and you know,
I love that kind of stuff. And nowhere to even
Chris Moore everybody. We got a lot of good guys
like that.
Speaker 4 (50:45):
What's been the biggest difference between college football playing receiver
and pro the pro game being a receiver?
Speaker 9 (50:52):
You know, I say, you know, in college just probably
a little bit more you can get away with. In
the league, it's not a lot of room for air.
Even through three games, I'm starting to see that. And
you know, I'm just trying to use this, continue to
grow and just sharpen up my game because I know
as long as I keep his mindset and you know,
I'm gonna get to where I want to get to.
Speaker 7 (51:12):
And I just got to keep going.
Speaker 5 (51:13):
I'm pretty sure those guys are going to tell you,
especially Terry, I know you take care of his body, well,
don't wait for something to happen for you to start
doing it.
Speaker 6 (51:20):
Get them, massage.
Speaker 5 (51:21):
Yourself, seek a chi practice, get anybody. Get the knowledge
from the guys around you. Ask them what what was able,
what they what did they do to sustain their career.
Speaker 6 (51:30):
Because that's what I've learned. I had to learn the
hard way though.
Speaker 5 (51:33):
You know, I got hurt out the gate, and so
once I got into Curtis Martin's ear and all these
other guys, they just told me, tell her you need this,
you need that, you need this. So I see you
got off to a great start, man, but I want
you to get you know, a team around you now
that can start taking care of by because you fast,
you want to stay fast.
Speaker 4 (51:48):
So already all right, Jalen, So for all our guests,
we actually sign our football man.
Speaker 1 (51:53):
You wouldn't mind.
Speaker 7 (51:56):
All the draft man, I don't know if I deserve.
Speaker 2 (52:00):
You definitely deserve it. Well, that'll do it for the
Players Club. We'll see you next week.
Speaker 1 (52:04):
Same time.
