Speaker 1 (00:06):
Welcome this family to the Gay Day Review Podcast. I'm

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Thank y'all holding up fellas. We've done this every home

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Man, But I think we've done a great, great job.
Now actually know we got one more for Christmas.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
That's my bad.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
I forgot we do play at home for Christmas. I'm
a little thrown off because I got next to me
Gary Clark. We are waiting on being right here giving
me all my information. He's on the way. We're gonna
get started.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Because he's not here, not here yet.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
He might be parking your car be missed.

Speaker 5 (00:45):
I know you be putting no, but when I was late,
when I was a rookie.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Well, now you can get him back when he comes,
and will let him join the show. Of course Gary
Clark is here. But then we got Super Bowl champion
Brian Mitchell, and we had to get started run away
because we got the prospect professor Logan.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Pawlson, and he on the clock. Right now.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
You got to get home, so he pulled up on
us to show some love.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Came in with a nice jacket for Logan.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
It's good to see you your first time on the
preview podcast.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
How's it feel?

Speaker 6 (01:12):
It feels great, man, obviously, anytime we can come down
here DC Prime, it's a good time.

Speaker 7 (01:15):
Anytime I can see you guys, it's a good time.
So thanks, happy, Appreciate.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Great live, great, great live.

Speaker 7 (01:21):
Appreciate lawyer for pulling up.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Man.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
He's been busy all day. He had a game yesterday
just like we did as well. We're gonna talk about that,
but before we talk about anything else in that game,
b we got you here, brother Jalen Lane.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
We see.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Yes, my man got his second punt return for a touchdown,
the first time that's happened since nineteen ninety four.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Logan, do you know who is the last guy to do.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
That in nineteen ninety four?

Speaker 2 (01:44):
I think so Bryan Mitchell the long ago. The myth
I was two.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
They give it up a be be.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
That's crazy that Jay was born.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
Want to born? How two years old?

Speaker 7 (01:55):
Years the producers fifth year in the league except for
you're my age.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Yeah, so well, but seriously, man, when we saw that play,
the minute it hit the punter foot, you and Tanna
looked at each other and say, oh, we got action.
Yeah yeah, Speak about that moment and what it was
like from your vantage point.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
Of bus I think where I've been talking with it,
and I talked to him last week and he was like, man,
I'm starting to feel real comfortable.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I think I'm about to get one.

Speaker 5 (02:21):
And then on that first return, he almost came out
of that and I don't know what the giants were doing,
all that moving around they were doing, and when that
punter kicked that ball like that, it was low ten
and I damn near simultaneously said we got action because
when that ball is a low hanging ball without a
lot of hang time like a driving one, we know

(02:43):
that the guy is coming back. Because you don't get that.
Your people don't get out to their spaces quick enough.
And if you could just hit that thing and you
have to punter left and the punter's not gonna catch him.
And when he got through it, so I was, I
was as happy as he was. You know, because people
always think people worry about tying records, breaking record.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
I don't care about no record.

Speaker 5 (03:04):
I care about guys going out there and reaching their
full potential. And ever since he got drafted, I've met
I met a lot of people from Virginia Tech, and
they talk about how great of a kid is, you know,
and had funny calling the guy kid.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
I guess I'll get old, But this thing is about
the fall. I got it.

Speaker 5 (03:22):
But uh, I just really I was thrilled for him,
you know, because after he had that big one early,
he had a few little mistakes and you could see
people turn on you so quickly these days, it's so
ridiculous to me, but you can see games where you
just see something's about to happen. And when he told
me that last week, I felt like, Okay. You know,

(03:43):
people always say, when do you know when guys start
to see things, they know it, they begin to get it,
And I think he was starting to get there, and
then when it happened for him yesterday, I was absolutely.

Speaker 7 (03:54):
Thrilled for yeah. Man.

Speaker 6 (03:55):
And I think the other thing too, is the putter
kind of missit the ball. Obviously they're trying to do
that cute rugby thing to putting the ball down there
to the right. It's right in the middle of the field.
Be and I think about like every big return that
I've been a part of. It's like in the middle
of the field, right, because the returner you're like you
were talking about the field doesn't disperse.

Speaker 7 (04:10):
The covers guy or the guys on.

Speaker 6 (04:11):
The return team did a great job blocking, getting hats
on hats inside leverage. He makes the long snapper miss
that's unfair, right, can't and then he makes the punter miss, right,
So like that's exactly how you draw the return up.

Speaker 7 (04:23):
And I think about, like all the work that those.

Speaker 6 (04:25):
Guys put in Reeves, the guys in the return team
yankoff senate then how they work so already get those
blocks and again like how it just sets him up
for success.

Speaker 7 (04:33):
So it's kind of like a running back in that way. Whoa,
So you're running back in that.

Speaker 6 (04:37):
Way where you know, like he's elevated by the people
around him and the people on that team.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Hey, we all falling apart here. I'm introducing the show wrong.
We got the mice falling down.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
We didn't get here, we didn't get here, but the
tilly's here.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Logan.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
I really love your perspective because now I know you
were in the boot for this game, but normally you're
right on that sideline, and to me, especially when I've
seen the rookies find success, the way the sideline lights up,
the way guys like Jayden Daniels, whether he's playing or not,
lights up.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Is that something you see in real time when you're
on that sideline during these big moments.

Speaker 6 (05:06):
Yea, absolutely, It's something that I remember from when I
played obviously too, I think because you know, you know
how much that guy, how much work that guy's putting in.
Like we talked about a lot of the adversity that
jayl Lane specifically his faced this year. You know, ups
and downs and is he in the right role and
too much responsibility to a little responsibility?

Speaker 7 (05:20):
Were not seeing enough from him? And guys hear that,
you know, they hear that in the locker room.

Speaker 6 (05:24):
And so when he makes a play like that, when
he has that opportunity, when Ben Sinet makes the catch,
I was down in the field for that. Everyone's sick
static because they know his journey to that moment to
kind of be rewarded for all that effort, all that
time he's put in.

Speaker 7 (05:36):
So I think it's fantastic.

Speaker 6 (05:37):
And again, like you probably remember the same thing, like
I remember being the old head.

Speaker 7 (05:41):
Supporting the rookie.

Speaker 6 (05:42):
I remember being the the rookie getting those opportunities, like
I remember my first touchdown and Chris Cooley going to
snag the ball for me from the from the stands,
Like it's cool to get that support from the veterans.

Speaker 7 (05:51):
On the team. And again this team has that at
a high level.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
And I think when you get a young man like
him who comes in and like some rookies can come in,
they can be a little bit too brash and you
want to just bust it in their head. But I
think Jalen has coming here. He doesn't say much. He's
a quiet kid. He just goes out there and work.
And when guys see that, and they also see his
his ability.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
They are thrilled for that because they know he can
help them win games.

Speaker 5 (06:18):
You know, and when the person starts feeling comfortable and confident,
the other teams got problems. And this kid right here,
he has everything it takes to be one of the
best in the league, be the best in the league.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
He wants that, you know, and go out.

Speaker 5 (06:36):
Because think about it, like those two returns yesterday he
caught and went straight. Yeah, so everybody goes like I
don't believe in that sideway except I don't care how
fast you can run a three nine. If you go sideways,
you give me a chance. But if you come at
me immediately, I have to start breaking down. Most people

(06:58):
cannot make a tackle full speed unless you're standing still.
If you're coming at dim and they're run, they have
to break down. And when they break down, and guess
what happened. The guy that's trailing them hields them. You
don't need them to knock the guy to the ground,
just shield them. And he's so fast where he could
get in there and out of it so quick. And
if he just keep hitting it, hitting it, he's gonna
come out of one even more. He may get three,

(07:19):
you never know.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
And I think the other thing too, is he's really
good at catching the ball. You know, he's catching the
ball attacking it downhill. And I think that again gives
a more opportunity. And I would defer to you on
that because you're the expert. But you know that just
from my layman's.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
Eyes, I caught and ran scared.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
To be honest with you, yeah no, he said every
time he was scared.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Listen, man, I doubt every time I caught the ball.

Speaker 7 (07:39):
Just say that to make us all feel better.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
I mean, my mindset was catch it and get through
the hole before he closed. That's my coach always said,
the hole close is quick.

Speaker 7 (07:46):
It is true.

Speaker 5 (07:46):
So I caught it and tried to run through the hole.
And I wanted one or two guys to have a
chance to hit me. Not when you run sideways, you
give too many guys a chance.

Speaker 6 (07:54):
How many times you see those crazy like in pursuit
tackles where the guy just gets lit up because he's
given everybody an angle to tackle.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
It's crazy.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Get in there, get out, go and be It's funny
when you say you were scared every time, because it
makes me think of a guy like Mike Tyson, who
also like the mission.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Can't even imagine him being scared.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
But Mike Tyson said it.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Every time I walked out on that ring, no matter
what the fight was, no matter who.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
I was fighting, I was scared. And he used that
fear to help fuel him, just like you did.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
Just like Mike knew if he hits somebody in the
right spot, they can go to sleep, and he knew
if they hit him in the right spot, he can
go to sleep.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Like Busta Douglass got it on a football field.

Speaker 5 (08:27):
If you don't respect the people around you, you're gonna
have problems.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
So that's why I say I ran scared.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
You know, I felt confident, but I wanted to get
into a position where I was the aggressor before they
can be the aggressor. And I think once I was
the aggressor, then now I'm I'm like a lion going
after anything out there. I'm gonna eat you up. That's
what I wanted. You know, that's the way you have
to be. You have to think that way.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
And who better to talk everybody?

Speaker 4 (08:55):
One of the best ever do it?

Speaker 7 (08:58):
Build him? What's up?

Speaker 4 (09:01):
Baby? Are you good? They don't need to apologize.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
We just you know, we got started real quickly.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
We made just like I showed up late for that
meeting when I was a rookie. Here you go, you're good.
How you players? How much to find you going forar
what coach Gibbs told me.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Don't be embarrassed. It's happy to have you here. Gary
wcome again, super champion Gary Clark to the building. We
were talking about Jalen Lane getting that second point return
touchdown hasn't been done since nineteen ninety four, when your
boy Brian.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Mitchell did it.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Man, how special is that to see history continue to
grow and to see possibly him break be misses where
he could get three b men say he's excited to
see it.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
I know you excited to see it too.

Speaker 8 (09:42):
I'd be great if he can do it. But I man,
there's only one beat Mitch, and that's sure be misses.
Being nice up here right now, he'll tell you there's
only one beat match. He'll tell you that himself a
little bit. But what spectacular to say it's nice to
get a win as well. I mean having the team
go out out strong. It is important. So if you can,
if you can close out the season with all wins,

(10:04):
it's gonna be a great, great day for the Commanders.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Especially when it gets NFC East opponents well go getting
too that. Me and Logan we have the pleasure of
doing game plan with head coach Dan Quinn and during
his postgame locker room speech he mentioned Brian Mitchell and
mentioned that you were the last one to do that.
Then we're talking to him on the game plan and
he mentions you again and says b came to practice,
He came to training camp and talk to these guys.
There's nobody better to be talking to these guys because

(10:28):
he's the best to ever do it. That's what dan
Quinn said. How awesome is that respect, man, because we've
been here in times where other places other people didn't
want to show that type of love, but dan Quinn
always shows it.

Speaker 7 (10:38):
To be real.

Speaker 6 (10:39):
You know. Brian was like, oh, he's a legend in Washington,
and then Coach Quitt was like, no, no, no, he's
a legend in the league.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
Amen appreciate it checks in the mail.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
But listen, man, it's just it feels good to have
someone that understands what you did and I give some
my love and respect to it. Like listen, like when
I got here, Gary and Green and you know Walter
Stanley and Joe Holah Johnson, those guys that were part returners.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
They helped me, you know, they gave me confidence.

Speaker 5 (11:08):
They never was concerned about what I can do, like
like you know, like there are a lot of veteran
guys who won't help young guys. I've never had a
problem helping our young guys because I got that love
and respect. Ernest Byner, Kelvin Bryant as a running back position.
Taught me what I can do out there, and doing
it made me become better, made me have a chance
to make a team. So when you see someone do

(11:29):
it to you, you want to do it to everybody else.
And now I'm gone from the game, Hill, I can't
take nobody's job for sure, but I think I can
help somebody and not deal with some of the things
I had to deal with coming through it. And if
I could give you something that can help you out,
and I gotta tell you, like Jaen, he has my phone,
I'm be calling whatever he wants to call, anything you
want to talk about, Like when they had the bad game.
I just sit in a little text and say, hey, man,

(11:50):
pulling for you. You'll get past it. Because I think
sometimes people.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
Feel lost.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
When you're young and you make a mistake, you feel
like you buy and that I never want anyone to
feel that, you know, because I can remember when I
was in what was it, my rookie season, my brother
got killed during minicamp and I didn't tell many people.
I just I went to the funeral and my mama said,

(12:18):
your brother would want you to play. So I went
to the wake, left before the funeral got back to
the game to play, and if anybody saw me played
that game against the Steelers, they would say, this dude
is possessed.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
I was because I was playing for Michael Brian Mitchell.

Speaker 5 (12:33):
I'm Brian Keat, He's michael'brian and I was playing for
that Brian Mitchell of the Aspect, and I lived by that,
you know. So it's like and I had Earnest when
he found out, man, why didn't you call me? You
can call me about anything. So I began to lean
on Earnest about stuff. And when you have a veteran
player who plays your position, who doesn't care about helping
you get better, and yes, you are challenging him for

(12:55):
his job, he didn't have one problem with that. He
did so much stuff for me, I felt I have
to do it. So I did it with James Drash
and all kinds of people.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
That came around around behind after me.

Speaker 5 (13:06):
And that's what you do, man, you know, because when
you try to hold when you get some blessings and
you try to hold it for yourself, the works against you.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
You got to pass that stuff out.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
B I know you don't like us calling you a
nice guy, but I don't think you've ever beaten the
allegations this show.

Speaker 7 (13:20):
I showed out. Nice of a guy you are.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
That was very kind and sweet my brother beating those allegations.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Retegade sit beside me, right.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Yeah, we talked about that post game speech, and during
that postgame speech, coach.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
Gave the game ball to Jalen Lane.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
So our producers put together a nice little exercise force logan.
I'm gonna start with you, who would you give the
game ball to? Jayden Lane has already taken? Who would
you give the game ball to? After that win over
the Giants?

Speaker 7 (13:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (13:44):
I saw that on the rundown and I kind of
was like, who of the guys you know that? I thought,
really shoot out and I think the one guy is
Bobby Wagner Man.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Like, I went back and.

Speaker 6 (13:52):
Watched it, watch the tape last night, watch a little
bit more this morning, and just for a guy, what
is he thirty four years old to be tackling and
playing the the way he's consistently playing the run and
the leadership that he exudes, like there's a third down
play you know that kind of leads to the punt
return that he sets up and makes a tackle and
you think he's twenty one years old, just out of college. Man,
just the passion, the energy, the physicality that he's playing

(14:13):
with is yeah. I mean, I just again like people
want to come after him for certain things, like obviously
he gives up that tough touchdown where he's in good coverage.

Speaker 7 (14:21):
I great catch, and so you get got. But I
do think he's over the last couple of.

Speaker 6 (14:25):
Weeks, specifically since Dan taking over play calling, he's played
at a different level.

Speaker 7 (14:29):
So I would give him the game ball.

Speaker 5 (14:30):
I think, what about you be, I'm gonna Bill, you know,
I know he's fun with the ball, but the whole
thing about it, Liz a young man. He'll learn, okay,
because like when I was a rookie, I'm not gonna
lie to put the ball on the ground a couple
of times, bro, because I was always trying to attack people,
and he kept saying, put that left hand on the ball.
If you hear me on radio, you hear me talk
about Bill, I'm always saying put the left hand on

(14:52):
the ball. Because he has a tendency as soon as
he gets the and off, he's here and he's running
through the line like this. If you just run through
it than that thing and then get out in the
open field.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
It'd be good for you.

Speaker 7 (15:02):
It's a tough lesson to learn, though. It is tough.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
And I used to never put the ball on my
left hand until my right shoulder got dislocated, so now
my left hand, so an injury made me become better
at the position. But I really think his vision is
out this world that's played that he had was supposed
to go outside and put the foot the ground.

Speaker 6 (15:23):
Went straight, dude, b It was crazy because it's an
r PO right there. Kind of got the bubble to
the to the offensive right there, everybody's pursuing. They kind
of make us split there by formation yes, and really
just an outsetting jobs like you know.

Speaker 5 (15:37):
I remember playing a year in New Orleans and we
had a left return on I caught on the right hash,
so I'm supposed to run out like towards the left
hash to go outside. I started running and I noticed
everybody had already jumps, so I just went straight up
and I get to the sideline of the coaches, like yo,
man that was left return. I said, we ran a touchdown. Man,

(15:57):
He said, well why did you go there? I said,
you'll see on the film.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
Was he mad?

Speaker 3 (16:00):
For real? He was just asking me a question. He said,
I say, you'll see on the film. When he got
to the film, he goes, damn you some of that.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
I'm like, I see it all, Brocause like what would
I run outside when the touchdowns?

Speaker 3 (16:13):
There was sixty seven bro in New Orleans in front
of the.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
Home Crown, Hey at the crib, and don't get better
than that?

Speaker 3 (16:21):
And it looked just like that through yesterday. He just
knew boom go by himself.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
Gary, who do you have? Who would you give your
game ball?

Speaker 8 (16:27):
To give it to the offensive line? You know, allowed
running back to go and run the way that he ran.
Don't get me wrong, I give him a credit as well,
but you know, having the offensive line show up and
play the way that they did, allowing us to not
have to throw the ball as much as we needed
to throw the ball, allowing us to run the football
like the football needed to be ran, and allowing that
young man to have a great day. But the offensive

(16:49):
line allowed that to happen.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Let's give it up for these guys, real quick. Let's
give it up on real quick. Look look at he
was gonna say something real quick, man.

Speaker 6 (16:56):
I was gonna say, I thought Gary was gonna talk
about Terry, So that's why I didn't give him the
game ball.

Speaker 7 (17:00):
But I would give Terry game ball. He played out
of his mind right touchdown?

Speaker 4 (17:04):
Yeah, I know.

Speaker 7 (17:06):
I was like Terry on too.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
So three catches, sixty nine yards and a touchdown for
Terry McClory.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
It's been so great to see him back.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
And we gonna need him, fellas because we got a
heavy game on our hands with the Philadelphia Eagles. So
let's dive right into that, because b I'm gonna start
with you. Last time we saw the Eagles NFC championship, Yep,
this is a very different team.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
This is a very different season they are having.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
However, we understand too well how dynamic and explosive this
Eagles offense could be.

Speaker 5 (17:34):
The Thing about him is if you go into that
game expecting, look, they have some issues going on on
that team. I don't care what they say, there's something
psychological messing them up.

Speaker 6 (17:46):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (17:47):
If you look at it and you wash the way
Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown how they operate with each other,
something's going on. And then AJ Brown is so dynamic
and watch the passes he dropped three passes. Two of
those could have been touchdown in their last game in
two games ago. And but the thing about it is
Jalen is not throwing it around like he used to.

(18:10):
Sakwan is not running it like he was last year.
That defense isn't playing as great. But that's because teams
are making them work. We have to make them work.
We can't go into the game and get turnold. You
have turnovers and have penalties. We can't help them, you know.
So the thing about the Eagles is they are the
hunted now and some teams are going out there and

(18:33):
they are hunting them now. We have to do the
same thing to them. They may come into this game,
they may they're gonna be favorite. They may think they're
better than us, but I've seen in this game too
where the best team doesn't always win.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
So on paper they might be better than us. Record,
they might be better, but on.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
That day you find out what's happening and logan outside
of Fred Smooth, you are our film, Gurule, You do thet.

Speaker 7 (18:56):
Fred Smooth.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
According to him, he watched his film the best.

Speaker 7 (18:58):
He breaks down his ID doesn't even log in anymore.
What are you talking about?

Speaker 1 (19:01):
He's never used it, never used it before, and that's
how he's supposed to be watching the film logan when
you look at the film watch Philly. You heard be
say they leave a couple of plays on the table.
Are they as advertised?

Speaker 2 (19:12):
If you understand what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (19:13):
So what I would say about Philly when you watch
the tape is last year comparing last year.

Speaker 7 (19:17):
This year is last year.

Speaker 6 (19:18):
They were the best roster in football by mile, best
offensive line, best skill position group, best running back. And
the quarterback was kind of a passenger, right, like he
was the personnel offensively was the truck, and he was
the trailer, right.

Speaker 7 (19:29):
He was getting towed by the offense.

Speaker 6 (19:31):
Now, Lane Johnson's been out for a couple of weeks,
Tyler Steen's taken over for Mackai Beckton.

Speaker 7 (19:35):
A good player, not a great player, right.

Speaker 6 (19:37):
You feel some of that inconsistency on the offensive line,
which we haven't seen there for probably three years now.

Speaker 7 (19:43):
So that hurts.

Speaker 6 (19:45):
That hurts hurts because Hurts wants to hold the football,
sea throws. He's not a great anticipator with the football.
So that little tweak in personnel I think is having
huge ripple effects throughout the offense, and then the fact
that they he likes to throw outside the numbers, which
are traditionally low percentage. Show you got aj Brown, and
again you talked about the balls he dropped. But those
are not easy catches all the time. Right, it's over

(20:05):
the shoulder, it's it's difficult down the field opportunities, and
so I think all of those things compile to put
them in.

Speaker 7 (20:11):
A difficult spot to be successful. Be what you got.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
He makes eight figures a year.

Speaker 7 (20:18):
I mean, b overhit. It's a tough deal, man, It's tough.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
The one I'm talking about.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
He should catch game against the Rams, right, the Chargers, Chargers,
it was in the end zone, hit both hands, he
was down the sideline.

Speaker 7 (20:32):
He might have been feeling good, but you don't know.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
They don't like each other time.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
I don't want to hear from Gary on this one
because this is my favorite part of the show. I
hear the back in my day part of this show.
Should he be catching that ball? It's the eight figure man.

Speaker 8 (20:46):
Man, he should he should catch the ball, no matter what.
But sometimes you do have those games where you don't.
I've been there too. I should have made catches, and
I didn't make those catches. But it'd be hard for
me to believe that a player would drop a all
on purpose. If he's doing that, I'm not su he
dropping it on purpose. It does not belong in the league.
But sometimes sometimes sometimes you have an off game, yes do.

(21:07):
I mean, I'm never going to drop a ball because
I'm mad at Ripper, I'm mad at Doug Jay. I'm
not to drop a ball because of that.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
But it's bad juju, and sometimes you haven't.

Speaker 7 (21:17):
I think that's right. Yeah, there's definitely something going on.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
It's bad juju in that locker room. I mean, it's
not going on for two or three years, though.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
It's been going they've been together.

Speaker 7 (21:27):
It's kind of how they work, though.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
It is how they work. It's like toxic relationship that
kind of works.

Speaker 5 (21:31):
We never heard Garry going at and rip and and
all that stuff. It's something with those dudes.

Speaker 9 (21:38):
Man.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
It's devash, too many devas.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
And and they go back right.

Speaker 7 (21:42):
So we've seen that as.

Speaker 8 (21:43):
Long as it's doing the game. Like, don't get me
wrong on that yell. They prepper all our quarterbacks except
for Joe T. Jo T is probably the only quarterback
of it. Yeah, that's because I.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
Was a rookie.

Speaker 7 (21:51):
Why didn't you yell? Because because you're a rookie.

Speaker 8 (21:53):
I was a rookie. So I was a rookie. I
was a yeah at that time. Look, there's never been
a player in skined history when Joe's coaching the team
that I ever seen him give the type of power
that he gave Joe T. I've never, I've never. I've
never seen that before, Like when we do you know,
the early morning meeting when Joe T said the meeting
was over, The meeting was over. It's just that. But

(22:14):
after that happened and we got Jay, Joe never gave
up another player of that type of power ever. Again.
You know, I don't know if it was a mistake
or not, but he's a coach.

Speaker 3 (22:27):
It kind of was.

Speaker 8 (22:28):
I mean a lot a lot of but you know,
your quarterback being missed. You know, a lot of times
you guys are to feel genuine A lot of times
you guys do take control of the game the way
that you feel the game needs to go on the field. So,
I mean, and that's how that's how you're kind of
like Joe T did too. I mean, so, but what
I did know is he never ever gave anybody that
kind of power. Again, the closest person he's privately did

(22:50):
it was me because he put up with me, and
most coaches would not have put up with I'm glad.

Speaker 5 (22:54):
I'm glad my coaches never gave me that power. When
I thought the meeting was over, it was over. We
were never met. I think meetings are for the burns. Seriously,
I hate meetings. If you got a quarterback though, if
you wait for the meeting to learn what you have
to do, it's too late.

Speaker 7 (23:12):
So when did you do your learning?

Speaker 5 (23:13):
I was at home doing it, just like did homework
they gonna do, they gonna do at.

Speaker 3 (23:18):
School, so I didn't have to take it home.

Speaker 5 (23:20):
I studied football at home so I didn't have to
worry about the meeting and get rest in the meeting.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
Listen, I just did I just I.

Speaker 6 (23:28):
Just found out he was a chemical engineer in college,
so maybe that's how we did it. Just remember I photography,
wait time out. He was a chemical engineer.

Speaker 5 (23:35):
I had to add engineering scholarshipsbody chemical engineers.

Speaker 7 (23:39):
Look at this guy. Listen, this guy chemicals.

Speaker 4 (23:41):
Now this sounds like the real spill.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
You would do a chemical engineer.

Speaker 8 (23:45):
Social science.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Yeah, they say easier, my brother, not everything gotta be on.

Speaker 7 (23:51):
I knew you were smart, but your last smart.

Speaker 3 (23:54):
Yeah, I was told that I have to be good
at school. I couldn't play football.

Speaker 7 (23:59):
So really good at school?

Speaker 2 (24:01):
Logan, what was your major?

Speaker 7 (24:03):
History and political science?

Speaker 2 (24:05):
That sticks? That sticks? You seem like a history.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
Memory.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
Gary, you mentioned it not leaving the field.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
But I think it's easy for us to speculate that
it has because we've seen those locker room majories.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
I mean interviews with AJ Brown where he's talking trash. Well,
he's calling out his teammates.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
When you see something like that, though, you gotta imagine, Okay,
maybe there's a cheek in the army here, maybe there's
a weakness like being miss was alluding to.

Speaker 8 (24:29):
I think, I think, but he's been that way, it's
whole career. Everybody know that. You know, you know when
he's coming to the team, and he's going to be
that way. So you're just your game to meet that.
You know, and last year they you know, they made
it work. So things come out when you when you lose, Unfortunately,
somebody has to point the figure at somebody. Somebody's gonna
get to blame, you know sometimes you know, sometimes that's

(24:50):
just happened, you know, But we just need to spank
that butt and then after that, after that, after that,
then they can go head and start doing what you
know they can come to do the kids. When you
get to chemistry, when you hit the playoffs, you hit
it at the right time, that's all that matters.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
Yeah, Yeah, and logan, A big part of spanking at
but is going to be stopping a guy that we
hate seeing Saquon Barkley still getting it done just sixty
yards away from one of a thousand yards season six touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (25:17):
On towards it to forty carries.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
It seems as if when Sakuon, especially when he's in Northwest,
whenever he's playing the Burgian goal, he seems to have
his best outings. How do we keep him from accomplishing
that Saturday?

Speaker 7 (25:27):
Yeah, I think it kind of goes back to that.

Speaker 6 (25:28):
I think about the offensive line again, that group's really good,
not as efficient as they were last year. And I think,
you know, Saquany, he is this kind of big play merchant, right,
He's always hitting home runs, but when you watch his
like kind of muddy runs down to down efficiency it's
usually pretty.

Speaker 7 (25:42):
Low, right, Like mathematically it's pretty low, right.

Speaker 6 (25:44):
So if you keep him from finding these big plays,
which most teams this year have done, right, he's just
not running it as effectively because the holes aren't as
big and the.

Speaker 7 (25:51):
Offensive nine line is not as effective.

Speaker 6 (25:53):
So if you can keep out of those big explosive plays,
usually he's not gonna have a good day. Now, I
will say, you know, that's that's easier said. It's easy
for me here it day Monday to be saying that
and be like, yeah, you know, it's gonna be really easy.
But like, that's he's an explosive, dynamic athlete. And uh
and again like just got to play a good sound
run defense and make sure everything stays in front of
you and you tackle well.

Speaker 7 (26:13):
But that's again easy to talk about here in this
nice warm room.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
Let's look at defense.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
Let's move on, because we found out some news this
week that Jadon Daniels will be shutting down for the
last three games. Coach talked about it, said that you know,
Jadi is not going on injury reserve. He'll still be practicing.
Even admitted that Jayan is not too happy about it,
which we can all expect he's and he's a leader.
B Mitch, you do radio every single day. I think
you're on air when the news dropped.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
If I'm not mistaken, I've just gotten off. Yeah yeah, yeah, man.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
How do you feel about that?

Speaker 3 (26:45):
Man? Well, I listen, man.

Speaker 5 (26:47):
After watching yesterday, Pat Mahomes went down, Michael Parsons went down. Uh,
Jayden reaggravated, not reinjured, reaggravated the same injury last week.
I really believe that everybody came to a conclusion after that, like, look, man,
let's just try to figure something out. I think that
they had a game plan prior and then more things

(27:09):
happened and more information came out, and they said, you
know what, with this information, we're gonna make this decision.
I think the thing of it is this, I deal
with a lot of media people, and their problem is
they change their mind all the time. They don't think
nobody could change their mind. Once you get more information,
you make an adjustment. And I have to believe that Dan,

(27:32):
Adam Josh got together and they came up with a conclusion.
You don't let Jaden get involved because he's not gonna
go along with nothing you say. And I think the
whole thing about is I rather calm a food than
resurrector corpse. That was John Thompson's say. He would always say,
I rather calm a fool than resurrector corpse. And Jaden

(27:55):
is by no stretch of food. But Jaden is a competitor.
He wants to play, and you need someone to come
in and say, hey, it's time that you just come
back a little bit. We know you want to go,
but we have to pull you back. And I think
they're making a decision based off of the fact that
that arm got reinjured. It's gonna take a little time

(28:16):
to get it healthy. And then why do you want
to try to go push it at this point? You know,
I said from the beginning, whatever they decide, I'm cool
with because I understand this group here cares about their players. Yeah,
this group here is going to make sure they do
the right thing about their players. So when they decide
to let him go into the game, I had no

(28:37):
problem with it. When they pull him back, I have
no problem with that as well. And because that's your decision.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
And be I'm so glad you said that, because I
think that's what a lot of people miss is that
this coaching staff has earned the benefit of the doubt
when it comes to that regard, because we know DQ
and company they're gonna do what's best for the players.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
We've seen it.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
We've heard it from free agents that come in. We
hear from your two guys. This is a new regime,
but we know what it is. Dan Quinn takes care
of his guys, and I think that's what we to
be focused on.

Speaker 6 (29:00):
But also it's I think it's best for the organization,
right if you're looking if you're looking ahead of twenty
twenty six, like if Jayden had like some significant injury,
that's gonna like ricochet into twenty twenty six, Like that
season's gonna be lost too, right, So we need to
make sure that he's healthy, happy, we'll maintain going into
that season. And I think again, it's the right decision
for the player. I think it's the right decision for
the organization.

Speaker 5 (29:20):
When Pat went down yesterday, my phone lit up, Yeah, Hey,
they gotta set him down now.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
And we all try to downplay that. We don't let
other stuff affect us. We all do.

Speaker 7 (29:34):
We're human.

Speaker 5 (29:35):
I'm sure those injuries came up in the conversation and
also I could believe this, I could believe that there's
an assurance about some major people who will be back
here next year to be able to do it again.
Those things come into conversation. Look, you don't judge me
based off of this, that and the other. Well, I
need my know you. You don't have to worry about that. Okay, cool, Right,

(29:58):
Let's shut down this guy, because the future of this
team rise on that, dude. And if everybody understands that
and everybody's on the same page. I'll go back to
a game where we were in Cincinnaty. I think it
was last year. Yea and Tanner and I were getting
into an uber and it's one of the people that
work in security and they're like, no, I got it,
I got a black y'all can ride with us. And

(30:19):
we were like no, no, no, no, no, no. Things
have changed now we're all on the same page. Everybody
is in this together. That is what I'm seeing based
off of that decision that was made today. Everybody is
in this together. This is not coaches against owners against
the players. Don't like this, don't like that. Everybody is
working for the same accord. And when you have that,

(30:41):
you can make decisions to decisions like that.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
I think it's an excellent point too, right, especially when
you look at an Eagles defense that is getting busy. Man,
they got it done against the Raiders, gave up zero points,
four sacks, seven QB hits.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
Does that go into account logan when you know the
defense you were players.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
We've talked about that a little earlier in the season,
Like dang Man, Jayden come back at certain points against
very very tough defenses. This is one of those instances
where he would have been facing a very very aggressive,
strong defense.

Speaker 8 (31:08):
For me, though, the key is the key is that
Jayden wanted to play.

Speaker 7 (31:12):
Yeah, he did.

Speaker 8 (31:12):
That's the most important thing to me. He wanted to play,
and that he shut him down, And that's great. They
shut him down. They should shut him down, quite honestly,
but he wanted to play. If my quarterback didn't want
to play, then I'm going to look at him a
little differently. Absolutely, I'm looking at him a little different.
But he wants to play. His upset that he's not
gonna have the opportunity to play, but he has come
to like that his coaches made that decision. He knows

(31:33):
that the coaches they love him, they care for him,
The ownership cares for him. They want to see him.
You know, not re injure that. For quite honesty, you're
playing for Pride right now. Don't get me wrong. You
should always play for Pride from day one. But that's
all they're playing for right now. But to me, he
wanted to play, and that's the key. If he didn't
want to play, then I'd been looking at him a
little different.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
And he always wants to play. We've seen that, right Logan,
Like he has been vocal. Not this times we haven't
heard from him yet, but in other times I want
to be on that field. This isn't lot We've heard
that from them with Tama two.

Speaker 6 (32:02):
No, absolutely, And again like does the Philadelphia defense come
into this, I'm not sure. Like the thing I think
that be alluded to their is like with three games
left on a season that you're not playing for the
playoffs anymore. Like I do think you have to consider
long term gratifications of his health. And I think that
to me is probably a bigger issue because I will say,
like the Philadelphia defense is playing well right now, they're
not playing as well as they were last year either, Right, Yes,

(32:23):
I think their number two corner spot's been in flux.
Losing Hardgrave and free agency has really been hard for
them to replace. Like, there's all these things, and so
you've seen teams like the Bears, for example, really get
after them right physically move them off the ball, which
is something we haven't seen. So obviously it's not the
group it was last year, which was one of the
most dominant groups we've seen in NFL history. But again,
I think it's I think you're thinking long term, long

(32:45):
term quansequences for a late season injury for the franchise player. Man,
I don't want to even think about those ratifications.

Speaker 5 (32:51):
We went to the championship game last year, way ahead
of schedule. We went after this year things didn't work out.
Let's get back to game planning and building this thing
to them. Yeah, that's right, And guess who's most important
in that rebuild? Number five. So we're gonna make sure
he's gonna be a guy hitting the ground running instead
of something happened, a fluke, a freak accident happens along

(33:14):
the way and then you got to wait on him
throughout the off season. No, we're gonna hit the ground
running because he's gonna be one hundred percent healthy in
the all season.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
And Loadan is something that coach said during his pressure
when he announced it was that, yes, Jaden learns on
the field, but he can also learn from this Spanish
point on the sideline because of our quarterback and Marcus Marioda,
a guy that's been a leader, a guy that's played
majority of the season for us, and a guy that
has a lot of parallels to Jaden, right Heisman with
their mobile, smart athletic, a gamer. How excited you to

(33:44):
see Marcus Marioda get an opportunity because now he knows
he is going to be the starter, he gets to
finish this season out strong, and we've seen Marcus Marioda
still got some left in the tank.

Speaker 6 (33:52):
Yeah, I mean, I'm really excited for Marcus. I think
he's really earned this opportunity. And again, like when you
look at his numbers over the course of the year,
he's been very efficient. He's been he's held in this
offense at an extremely high level, and I think at
times he's played better than je dead times. Right, I'm
not saying on the whole, but I think there's something
there to saying, like, hey, man, you've you've earned the
right to take every rep in practice this week.

Speaker 7 (34:12):
To put us in a position to be successful.

Speaker 6 (34:14):
And and again, like he's through his play, through his leadership,
through his ch charisma with the guys in the locker room,
all those things I think lead to lead to him
deserving us. And I'm excited for him because it's so
hard once you've lost the opportunity to regain it. Like
I remember talking to Rex Grossman when I was here,
and he's like, I never thought, you know, he was
a firm of forced round pick. After I lost the
opportunity in Chicago, it would take this long to get

(34:35):
it back. And here he is gett an opportunity to
start play significant minutes, which is really a testament to
him and his work ethic.

Speaker 5 (34:40):
I'll say this, and this is kind of joking but serious. Selfishly,
I'm scared because you yeah, somebody making him started someone
next year.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
You know, we're worried about that last year.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
You know, the new, the new can play.

Speaker 5 (34:57):
But the thing of it is he also gives you
a insta wine and listen, we just saw a forty
four year old dude come back.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
Into this game.

Speaker 7 (35:05):
That's crazy.

Speaker 5 (35:06):
I think if somebody see him play strong down the stretch,
they're not gonna reach out to him. Philip Rivers just
showed me not many quarterbacks are very good. And then
I went took a guy off for college to go play.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
Come on man, and the names of the starter.

Speaker 7 (35:20):
He did enough.

Speaker 5 (35:24):
Why I thought the defense game of a thirty second
time boom boom, downfield, kick field, go to win that thing.
It was throwing a little better pass late, but he
was stretched, he was trying.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
It was wild seeing him celebrating like we've seen for
so many years of Philip Rivers.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
And that's an excellent point, Fellas. We're getting close to
the end of the show.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
But I have to mention, looking ahead of our schedule,
it's all NFC East, very very interesting. Gary, you know
better than anybody how important these NFC East games is.
You talk about what you're playing for, you talking about
that pride. There's nothing more profer than beating a division opponent.
And I know you probably felt the same way where
you were playing against the.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
Giants, against the Eagles, against the against Dallas.

Speaker 8 (36:00):
I mean, I mean when I was playing, quite honestly,
it was going to be somebody from the NFC East
going to the super Bowl or the forty nine ers,
just what it was for me, where like almost my
whole career in Washington, it was kind of that way.
It's going to be somebody from the NFC East. It
was going to be San Francisco going to the Super Bowl.
So you learn to play on those in conference rivalries
and that's what needs to happen. I mean, they need

(36:21):
to win out. You went out all of a sudden.
You have you go into next season prideful, you got
something to build upon. You're feeling good about yourself and honestly,
getting back to the courting of that quarterback, if you
don't have controversy at every position a little bit, then
you don't have a winning team. I need somebody to
push me. I need somebody. I need to be able

(36:43):
to look over my shoulder and be like, Okay, I
can't take a break because this player could be just
as good or better than me. And that's what a
great teams have. The great teams have the person playing
behind the starter should be just as good or better
than the starter. When you have that, you win Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
Just what it is, This is what it is.

Speaker 8 (37:01):
The reason B Mitchell. I was a return guy. I
saw b Mitchell. I was like, yeah, he does that
better than me. Yeah, you see certain things and you know,
I mean that's what it was.

Speaker 7 (37:12):
You're starting as a receiver at the time. Gary, were
you starting as a receiver also?

Speaker 8 (37:15):
Or I know when I first came in, it took
me five games before I started. I got to my
starting position. But at the end of the day, I
was better than the starter. But it took me five games.
It was five games too long in my case, we
could have got to the playoffs. They started me a
little sooner. So I feel about it. But but no,
I mean, just just what it is like if you're

(37:36):
but then Ricky Sanders came in. I have a great
rookie year.

Speaker 6 (37:39):
You know.

Speaker 8 (37:39):
I'm like, I'm like, I'm feeling good about myself. And
did I see Ricky Sandras come in. I'm like, oh,
I was like, all right, he made me better than
both of us. I was like, you know, so I
