Speaker 1 (00:12):
Command his family.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Welcome into season two of the game Plan with our
head coach, Damn Qun. We got Longa paulse in your
I'm your host, Brian Coleman Jr. We're in the big
Beer AI Command Center studio and coach. We are so
excited for year or two. Second training camp with the
Bergian goals. Yeh, second preseason man, what'stood out to you?

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Man?

Speaker 3 (00:30):
It's been awesome just the team has really bonded and
connected quickly. There's so many players that we're able to
come back. We signed a number of free agents that
you know, we're able to.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Re sign and then adding onboarding.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
New players Tunsuls and Samuels and Millers to add you know,
to that group. So it's been an absolute blast seeing
everybody kind of leveling up and putting all their skills together.
So it's yeah, it's been really cool.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
Somebody always wonder about is how you bring those new
guys in. They've got strong personalities, that they've got strong leadership style.
How do you say, like, hey, you've done it this
way in the past, but this is how we get
down here.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
That is basically it.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
And we also rely on the people that have been
for one year.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Hey, this is how we do it.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
This is how we get down, this is what we
do for meetings, this is what we do for practice.
So they're not having to wonder and so having a
standard for ourself of how we do things, how we behave,
how we practice it makes it much easier. There's no
gray I did this before, I did this here. It's
like whatever you did before in school. But this is
how we do it here and so like it makes
it pretty clear.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Coach, you mentioned bringing in Deebo, But the story of
the week is giving Terry mclaorn that extension.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Man, all of us are very very excited about that.
Now you have Terry, Now you have.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Debo, Jalen Lane, you have a packed wide receiver from
how excited are you?

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Guys are excited to see these.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Guys I don't have field plan together.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Yeah, today was really cool actually to see you know
the combination of Noah Brown and Debo and Terry. He
said Jalen just interacting drill work in reps featuring guys
in different ways. So they are three about Noah also
and Debo and Terry, like these are most three of
the most competitive people, like.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
You'd want to be around. So like everything gets elevated,
which is a lot of fun too.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
So how does that work in terms of Jane Daniel's development?
I mean, I always think of him as being the
most important piece, right, Like, how do having those three
guys affect his long term prospects?

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Well, good news for him, Like he worked really hard
on the things that he could control that was his footwork,
the accuracy, the stuff to go, and then now he's
getting more timing with them to get into that space. Fortunately,
Noah and Terry both have had a ton of experience
with Jayden. So if there's a silver lining in Noah

(02:42):
and Terry not playing as much, it was all the
extra time that he did get with Debo. And so
that's I think one of the things that's a real
benefit to say. Throughout the off season and training camp,
Debo's at every practice, every ota, every time, and so
like he's also really risen in the offense, So we're
really pumped to add him to those guys. But then

(03:03):
the whole thing, but you're right, Jaden's the one that
makes the whole thing go. And you know he was
out there early today orchestrating like he does, so it
was cool to see.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Now you mentioned telling Jaden took control. He can control,
but he can't control the players. He plays it right,
that's your guy's job, that's ap job.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
And what you guys did.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
You guys got Laramie Tunsel. You also drafted in the
first round Josh Conley Jr. So it's an emphasis on
protecting that quarterback. How do you see them and how
have you seen them already helping Jaden out in this
year two of development.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
Yeah, we really wanted to make the line of scrimmage
on both sides a real priority and Brian to play.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Goodness, League man, that's such an important piece of it.
And so when.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
We add the opportunity first with Laramie to add him
to the group, then with Josh, it was a real
factor for us and Josh and Laron both they had
great camps. They've been really like established who they are
as ballplayers here on this team. Their work, the things
they do, it's nice to see their connection. Also, talking
about Laramie and Josh specifically, I was.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Going to say, it's really interesting because they're both in
totally different spaces of their career.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Right.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
Yes, Laramie has been you know pros pro for a
long time, and he's just kind of entering like, how
has that dynamic been and how is coach Johnson kind
of helped facilitate I guess growth for both of them.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Yeah, and just like you would expect and you did
this so many times with players. It's cool to see
Laramie want to help and want to pay it forward.
I've done that.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
I know where you're at.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
And so they've had this really good connection right from
the beginning, as opposed to you know what about this
hey man, just just come over together and we need
to worry about it. But Laramie's technique, Man, it's evident
why he's played so at such a high level. Logan
just he's specific the practice reps.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
You know, he's on point and so very high standard.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
And fellas, we love talking offense, but defense when championships, Rightney, That's.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Right, Logan doesn't that's true.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
But when you look at this secondary we added a
bunch of pieces here, it looks very, very different, and
we know that Joe Junior seems to be a secondary
whisper of sourts.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
How excited you to see what he can do with
this crew?

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Guys, after last year finishing top five against the past.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
You know, Joe's got remarkable teaching skills as well as
Jason Simmons and Tom Donahill. Tommy Donna Tell William Gay
is also one that I think is like really rising.
So the quartet of them, Brian has got real remarkable
balance between one another. They don't step on each other's toes,
but they just balance each other out. So it's been
very good to see new corners like Amos and Jones

(05:37):
into the mix, a new safety and Harris into the mix,
and then a player that you guys both know well,
but he is really really playing.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
At a high level as reefs and.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Last year and years prior you've seen him on special
teams and the impact that he has. He's also earned
some time on defense as well. So him and Owen's
and Butler are also ones that we're excited about because
Kwan is kind of the at the top of that
list at the safeties.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
It's playmaking his speed. We just see him making that jump.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
But that's one of our deepest, strongest, toughest, most athletic
groups that we have.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
When you mentioned a guy like Jeremy Greens, just a
follow up real quick, somebody that's already accomplished so much,
he's been on all Pro. When you see him continue
to get better and continue to develop in this defense,
does that speak volumes for these other guys?

Speaker 3 (06:26):
It does, and it speaks volumes of what Jeremy and
his teammates have created here, like a space to absolutely
go for it, to get better, and they've created an
environment and a culture to like, can we get better
and can we push it? Whether I'm in year five,
year eight, you're fifteen, Like there's another level we can
all tap into, and Jeremy is certainly doing that. But
together these players have created that kind of space to

(06:48):
push one another to see if they can take it
to the next spot.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
And Jeremy, like you ask him to.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
Compete, man, he'll do that at anything, and so it
doesn't even matter.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
It's just who he is.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
So it's not a surprise to see me watching that
evolution him also.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
On defense too.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
Yeah, it's I mean, it's really interesting. I feel like
you guys have been so much more aggressive in training camp,
like just with the coverage structures, the pressure packages. But
then you bring in a guy like von Miller, right
with his experience he's about a rush the passer. How
does that go to create like a symbiotic relationship between
the secondary and the rush there.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Yeah, when you're bringing a person like vond it's not
just him. He can multiply logan because of the discussions
in the meeting rooms, his communication. So it's not just
his skill that he can bring, it's all of the
other stuff that he brings with it.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
And it's been just very cool to see.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Him have the effect on Armstrong, have the effect on
Jake Martin, have the effect on Pain and so it's
very cool to add a player like him who's able
to share the ideas, who's able to, you know, communicate
about it. Some great players just are great. Can't articulate
it and why and what are the things you can do?
But man, this guy loves football and he wants to

(07:59):
talk about share it. And so he's been an excellent
edition so far without even us starting yet.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
And you talk about the things von Miller brings.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Yeah, he's bringing some hardware too, a couple of Super
Bowls under his belt. You've made an emphasis on kind
of adding a few guys Jonathan Jones, Why is with
that super Bowl experience? Why was that a point of
emphasis and why is that so important for this currency?

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Yeah, we wanted guys who just had really high standards
man like that, We're going to absolutely go for it.
That's what we stand for here, and we thought that
there's chances for us to elevate and do that, like
we're gonna and guys like Why's and Jones, Man, they
have that standard. You watch the practice, the details with it,
So how can you not help but get better if

(08:38):
you're a young player seeing that? Following that, can you
keep up? Because it's hard and like, this is the
hardest thing for the rookies they've ever done. This is
the hardest thing and there's not even close, and so
for them to fight it and now they're here in
the regular season and the next step to go. So
Jaden made it look easy and Samer still did but

(09:00):
and Logan can account to this, like as.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
A rookie, this is the hardest thing we've.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Ever done, and it's just it's fun, it's tough, but
it's really hard.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
The other thing I was going to say is we
talked about all the new pieces, right, but like Bobby's
been here, you know what I mean? And I think
his leadership's outstanding. How has he been able to maybe
impact some of those guys that have come in.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
It's nice for him also to have the second year
in the system because now he can talk.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Ahead, this is what we need to do.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
This is you know, it's interesting to think about him
needing development.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
In the system.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
Yeah, but he had played in one system for so
long that you know, I had knowledge of the way
that he had done things during the first part of
his career. So for him to have continuity for him,
that's a big deal because now he can talk ahead,
give his feedback. Before what's my responsibility? What do I
have to do? He wanted to make sure he was
going to be right. Now he can help others in

(09:51):
that way too.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
It's crazy, Coach, I'm sitting here and listen to you
guys talking. I'm like ging goosebumps because it feels.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Like we're here.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
We are appreciate you taking that time and if you're
new to the game plan. One thing that we do,
Logan Paulson and Coach, they get into that film room
and break down at the game of the day.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Fellas, you already get.

Speaker 5 (10:08):
A film Okay, command is family before we hear more
from our head coach Dan Quinn. If you are listening
on audio platforms, make sure you go to Commander's YouTube
page right now so you could check out.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
The film room between Logan Paulson and head coach Dan Quinn.
Now for more from head coach Dan Quinn. Now, coach,
normally we do a count down to kickoff. Since we're
still a week away, we're doing a countdown to the season.
And of course we talked about this is year two
for you, Yes, what has stood up for you in

(10:41):
year two? What has been different about this process, training camp, preseason,
all that stuff, and what are you bringing into this
new year?

Speaker 1 (10:48):
Number one.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
I think you don't go all the way back to
the beginning, Brian, but there is things that have moved forward,
like year two. In the system, relationships have been the
you know over years time, so to see those grow,
see the standards grow, our practices they're more efficient, they're
more competitive in a lot of ways because of that

(11:12):
time in the system, and so our identity, our play style.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Now it's to raise it again and to take it
to a new space.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
And so the team that we'll have in you know,
January and beyond will be much stronger than the team today.
But that's because of the work that we put in
over the season. But this team is hungry, they're ready,
they're tough, they're connected, and so yeah, I'm pumped to
get rolling with them.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
So one of the things I think is so interesting
about coming off last year. You were so successful, like
incredibly successful, Right, how do you it's and I always
thought it was easier to learn from failure, Right, how
do you keep guys locked in after being so sick?
You know what I'm saying, Like here, it's so easy
to be Oh, we did this last year and now
we're gonna do whatever, Like, how do you keep those
guys motivated?

Speaker 3 (11:51):
I think it's easy to let your eye get dull
or your skills fall off if you're looking way down
the road.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
And so that's so far away for us, man like
you did, just like Ryan.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
So if you don't do that and man like out
on the practice field, that's where we honestly go after
it and get better. And so if we can just
keep doing that, working our skills really hard, and then
just through a really good week, and then we'll go
do that again next week and then do it again
the things down the line, they'll take care of itself.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
But we have to put in the work. That's no
matter what like it.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
Has to go down out on the practice field. The skills,
the execution, the timing, and we're going to work really
hard at that knowing that that will pay forward into
the ballgames.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
Coach Crazy, just you know what, Brian, You're not You're
not falling for that. I'm follow this time to.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Coach your event now year two here with the Burgundy
and goal. We got new colchis, new graphics.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Year two of the game plan. Coach.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
We appreciate you as always far he Coach dan Quinn
for the prospect, Professor Logan paulse and I'm Brian Cole Jr.

Speaker 5 (13:00):
This is the game plan.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
We'll see y'all next week on Game Day. Baby.
