Speaker 1 (00:00):
With today's episode of Ticket to the Draft podcast, the
vibes are high. We got our top five vibe guys.
We got twitchy and small, too big and strong and
everything in between it and we've got top five linebackers.
And in that conversation we talked about the evolution of
defense man. It's a great conversation. It all starts right now.
(00:24):
Welcome on into the Ticket of the Draft podcast. I'm
Logan Paulson here with just to Guy. Jason and Jason
were presented by Seakeeek this summer. Seekkeek has your ticket
to the best live concerts in the DMV at Northwest Stadium.
Sea Geek the official primary taking partner of the Washington
of Northwest Stadium, not even Washington Commanders anymore. That kind
of pumpedaged me a little bit.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Well, I'm sure they're the official primary taking partner.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
At both I think, but Northwest Stadium.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Northwest Stadium because there are going to be some big
acts coming in Northwest.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Really. Oh yeah, I'm not into the Drake. I've never
been to a concert.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
He's coming back for two nights.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
The Queen Huh. Yeah, that's cool. All right, that's exciting.
And we have some housekeeping and you know the context
of this housekeeping better than I do. So housekeeping. Fred
and I have a bet right and last year we
did on Fred's birthday, of all days, we did a
Guaranteed Ballers. I don't know if you guys will listen
to the show last year, but you might remember it.
And basically we picked like five guys, six guys something
(01:18):
like that, and we said, these guys are guaranteed locks.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yeah, it was basically a draft. You did a mini
draft of like guaranteed guys locks in the draft you
think are just going to ball out. Yeah, And I
like scored it after the fact. I talked to you
guys about the scoring system. You both were okay with
it and it looked fair enough.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
So no complaining that I picked.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
So yeah, not good for you to not remember, because
you know Frek can get away with some. So you know,
Fred's already went back and re listened to that.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Probably get ready so you told me not to, so
I haven't done.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeah, don't do it, but okay, So basically what's going
to happen is that we said, whoever doesn't pick the
most guaranteed ballers, right, we'll have to get down on
one knee in front of the other. So either Fred
on in the in front of you or you're on
in the in front of friend and say you are
(02:10):
the true draft guru. And I personally.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Nothing, nothing, which I don't really want to do if
that doesn't know anyone.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Wants to do that, and much less with Fred.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
And I'm thinking back on it, and I think I
picked two hundred guys, which if I picked two hundred guys,
my percentages of winning this thing, I think I don't remember.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Do you think about some of the if you remember
Fred's strategy, Dude, he went swing swinging from razy, yes,
just swinging from the heels man. He went crazy on
some of his projections and guesses. I guess with ballers
because that's what it felt.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Like, felt like felt like, it felt like in the
beginning he understood the game really well, if I remember correctly,
the first one or two, and then I felt like
he forgot the point of the thing and just went crazy.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Yeah. Well you can go back and listen to that episode.
Anyone can. It's uh you can find on our Command
Center podcast channels, so you can find it on the website.
But we're gonna do that again too, guarantee botherers with
Fred again.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
That's kind enough. It's like three weeks now.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
So anyway, on Fred's birthday, which is April seventeenth, that
will be a Command Center episode on YouTube us the
winner on the actual show, So it won't be on
this podcast, it will be on the actual Command Center
show because we want fans to see either Fred have
his best birthday president ever with Logan you having to
do that, or this could be the worst birthday ever
(03:33):
for Fred. Could you imagine if Fred has to do that?
Do you think he would?
Speaker 1 (03:37):
I think he would. I think Fred's always down for
a bit. I think that's the one thing about Fred
that I appreciate is that he's like I was thinking
about it, like would you do it? I think he's
always down.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
For He's got to get bullied into it though, because
he tried the back out of that basketball competition with you.
But it was Tanna who was like, I booked a Jim,
I pulled a favor. You better not show up make
me look like an idiot. Fred was like, ah, right,
like rolled in. It was clear he did not want
to do this.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Correct and after watching him play basketball, you can see
that on the Commander's YouTube also, But like Fred, playing
basketball is a fun thing too.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Anyway, last housekeeping thing. Next week we will have ESPN's
Draft nerd Jeremy Green on the show talking quarterbacks. That'll
be our last basically ranking before we start really getting
close to the tight.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Ends bro Co and tight ends. That's right, like the
most important.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
And Jeremy Green's my favorite guest that we've had on.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
This So funny, so funny.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
He's like friends Fred, Like the two of these guys
got to get together and get loud and all right.
So that's sorry.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Yeah, I think they're from different areas, but they kind
of have the same like little one liners and little
yeah it's fun.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
They're both Southern. Yeah, they're from different areas of the South,
but they got that kind of country boy yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
That like a metaphorical way of speaking, and it just
always seems to hit anyway.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Absolutely all right, So that's our housekeeping today. We are
doing top five linebackers for you. I'm gonna mention some
linebackers I saw because I think in this class we
saw the biggest variance between what you were looking for
and what I saw. With Justin guy eyes, and then
we're gonna do I think this is gonna be my
favorite one that we do, maybe because I get more
involved with it and I'm just I love skitz and bits.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
I'm still giving for this. I'm excited for vibes, and
you went hard with the vibes. I went kind of
like medium with the vibes.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
It's the top five vibes guys in this draft, so
not like our top five favorites, not the guys we
think are going to go early. Like these are names
that maybe we've talked about, maybe we haven't. They're just
guys that when you watch them, when you talk, I
love talking about all of them, Like there's just something
about It's like, Man, the vibes are good with this guy.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
So that's all those those are Like that's really this
is fun because that's why we should almost do this
like every week, because this is why you do the draft.
For the vibes. Man, that's why I do it, you
know what I mean, Like just guys you're like, man,
I love this guy. Wise, no one talking about them.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
You know, when you're at the Senior Bowl and the
combine and you run in the guys in the building
in or outside of the building, like your old friends
that are scouts are coaches. Now, Like, isn't this kind
of how conversations go. It's not like give me your
top five linebackers. It's like, dude, he get good vibes
from who's a guy? Right?
Speaker 1 (06:14):
You remember last year at the comment and we go
up and they're like, what do you think of so
and so? And it's like I love them.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
I love them too, you know, just talking about vibes
and it's like there's nothing behind it except like, oh man,
I want to talk about this guy. So yeah, that's
what we're going to do here. There's just guys that
we want to talk about. A lot of them we
haven't talked about yet. Well, you should definitely stick around
if you just want names and stuff like that. All right,
So logan, let's get into it. Our top five linebackers.
(06:38):
I'm not gonna give mine. I'm just going to pop
in and tell you where mine kind of are. Let's
stick with your list. You're the expert year and I
wanted to dress.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
I want to say something about linebackers real quick. So
linebackers to me is especially challenging because, like with defensive
line with offensive line, even with corners to a certain extent, safeties,
I actually think safeties are getting easier because they're asking
them to do more man coverage, more zone. They're playing
in the box morey. It looks more like an NFL
position with linebackers. There's so much less stuff that they
(07:09):
have to do that is NFL linebacker ready. And then
what I mean by that is at the NFL level,
you got to fit runs at a very high level.
You got to get downhill, hands on blocks, defeat blocks,
get in the backfield, hold gaps. But you also got
to run with a tight end and cover. And I
think your list reflects part of what I'm talking about there.
When I look at your list, I'm like, Oh, these
guys do the run and hit stuff. They get downhill,
(07:31):
they're fast the football, they're aggressive. But I have always
I've had to switch how I evaluate linebackers over the
last probably four years because coverage is such a big
part of the position. Now. I think about Zachary Bond
as being like maybe the archetype or Fred Warner is
the archetype. Do they run and hit like absolute maniacs
for sure? Can they defeat blocks? Yes? Can they do
those traditional linebacker things, yes, but the things that makes
(07:53):
them special at the position is their ability to cover
and fill zones and feel space and work back away
from the line of scrim engine. So that's where I
think maybe the biggest difference in our list is.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Well, let's talk about that for a second. It's interesting
you bring that up because I fully agree with you,
and maybe I didn't take this into account of watching
these guys, because like I think that we've seen offenses
like adjust in how they're run, right, And you talk
about this a lot with window dressing, and you want
guys that can do multiple things because that stresses defenses.
(08:28):
And I think we're starting to see defenses now react
to that with their personnel. So you're getting more tweeners. Originally,
like the thing when you would say, oh, oh, he's
a tweener, I don't know if he's an addresser or
an outside linebacker. That used to be a negative towards somebody.
Right now that's kind of a positive. It's like, if
we can get this guy on the field that can
(08:48):
match up with what the offense is doing and like
takes a little bit of that stress away. He can
drop in the coverage, he can rush the passer, he
can fill a gap. Like if I can do all
three of those things, I don't have to sub you
in on and off the field, or I don't have
to worry if Deebo Samuel's in the backfield, for example,
like I don't because I can do more with my personnel.
(09:10):
So you're getting defenses that are looking more for these
kind of jack of all trades players, And I guess
I wasn't really looking at that too much except with
one of the guys one year I think definitely fits
that and kind of why I had him so high.
But yeah, the defense is moving in a different way
now that we need to look at these guys differently
(09:32):
than maybe traditionally.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Yeah, and I think you have a couple of guys
out here that are tweeter from a linebacker to defensive lineman.
Two guys that I would say two guys for sure,
but I actually think I look the other way a
little bit more like linebacker to safety. And so that's
where like if you look at Fred Warner, I think
he's a great example of this, Like he played like
that star overhang kind of field nickel big nickel in college.
(09:55):
So he has this ability to run and be in space,
but also has the ability to fit runs, and so
I look, honestly, I look at that position almost more
now when I'm looking at linebackers and being like, hey,
can this guy transition in the box? And I'm looking
at everything. I'm trying to be comprehensive, but really, the
movement skills away from the line of scrimmage, like backing
away from the line of scrimmage, I think, become more
(10:17):
and more important.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Well, you're number five, yes, was it converted safety?
Speaker 1 (10:22):
I didn't know that actually, but it makes.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Sense, makes sense, so let's start there.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
So Jeffrey Bossa from Oregon. He's six', too he's two
hundred and thirty five, pounds AND i think he's really
aggressive to the. FOOTBALL i don't think he tested the
WAY i. THOUGHT i think he ran a four six
three four six, four so not like lightning, fast BUT
i think he plays lightning. FAST i think he's got
good instincts to the. Run like there's a REVERSE i
forget AGAINST i don't remember the, school but it's like
(10:46):
this heavy action to the defensive. Right he kind of
gets caught up in, it but less so than the
rest of the defense and is able to play back
and make the tackle on the reverse coming back to
the defensive. Left SO i thought that was really. Impressive
and these yeat a bunch of plays like that where
he's kind of find through. Traffic and THEN i think
the thing that really kind of sold me on, him quite,
honestly was at The Senior. Bowl he they do like
(11:07):
a ton of one on one man coverage, stuff AND
i FIND i thought he was a guy that usually
in those one on one man, settings linebackers just get absolutely,
scorched just lit on. Fire it's really.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Tough it's right in the middle of the, field the
running back can go any direction and you're on an.
Island we're not a Coverage you're not a you're not a, corner, Right,
like that's not what You're, yeah it's, tough.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
And so LIKE i actually felt Like Jeffrey bossa did
a really good job playing to his. Leverage he could
run a little, Bit he made some plays on the
football and again in this drill where you just see
linebackers just absolutely torched down in and down because, again
like you, said it's it's. Outside you have you have
the sidelines there to protect you with a tight. End
their bigger body guys are a little bit, solwer but
you get these like super twitched up, backs and it's
(11:52):
just LIKE i can go inside outside vertical and you
have to defend all these. Cuts there's no pass protection
responsibilities like good, luck and there's no offensive line to
kind of muddy up the. Release it's one of the
tougher one on, ones and SO i thought he did
a great job with. That SO i saw enough from
the run standpoint and enough from the coverage standpoint at
The Senior bowl THAT i thought this guy has some
(12:13):
of those that kind of good mix of. Traits, again
he wasn't the athlete THAT i thought he would. Be
And i'm really just like splitting.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
HERE i, mean like with the combine, measurements.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
With that combine measurements more and on, film BECAUSE i
think on, FILM i think you would agree with. THIS
i think he looks. Good he runs, well.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Fast fluid and. Dynamics that's WHAT i.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Put, Yeah and SO i think the thing that just
gave me a little bit of pause was, like he's
maybe not top, shelf BUT i think he's. INSTINCTIVE i
think he covers, well AND i think he's pretty good
in the run game, again like, serviceable and so he
feels like maybe a guy that is a rotational guy
his first year and then develops INTO i thought about
him in the context of The, commanders like maybe you're
(12:50):
backing Up Bobby wagner for a little bit Or jordan,
McGee you know WHAT i. Mean you kind of got
a rotational element and then next year they feel comfortab
enough to give you the whole. Show is kind of
HOW i didn't think he was ready to start right,
now BUT i thought he was pretty.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Close, yeah SO i have him pretty high on my,
list and that number. THREE i really liked him a.
Lot and speaking Of commanders, linebacker LIKE i Got Frankie
louvu vibes from him by his. Mentality not, Necessarily i'm
not comping them as like they're going to be the same,
player But i'm saying like that mentality of like he's,
aggressive he's a. Dog he like when he, blitzes he
(13:25):
somehow gets a little skinny to like get, Through like
he's there's just like this motor. Crazy it's like a
crazy motor about, Him like he's you pull the string
and he just goes, hard like and that's The Frankie
louvu kind of. Cop there is comp there is Like
luvu is aggressive when he's asked to go, right but
(13:46):
like and that's kind of WHAT i saw.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
My Agree AND i think the other thing about him
too is there's a couple of guys on this list
THAT i really valued their leadership on the, field like
their emotional intensity, also AND i felt like he was
one of those. Guys at The Senior. Bowl he's the
first the, drill he's calling the, huddle he's making the.
Break you see him calling the defense At, oregon, right
he gets up after a. Tackle he's like the emotional
(14:09):
spark plug for the. Group everyone's kind dapping him on the,
helmet AND i feel The Frankie luvu comp from. IT
i don't think they play the.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Same, Yeah i'm not saying they play the. Same it's the.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
Emotion it's the emotion of it and the, leadership WHICH
i really like the. Player and so you haven't three
and to, me you're splitting hairs a little, bit you,
know five to. Three BUT i do think he's a
really good football, player AND i you, KNOW i don't
think the linebacker class is very deep outside of the
first five maybe seven. Guys BUT i think he's A
i think he's gonna make somebody happy kind of in
(14:40):
that late, third late late, second maybe early third kind of,
range as a guy that plays, teams, leadership, upside, coverage,
upside that kind of.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Thing, okay your four and THREE i want to clump
together because they're both from your alma, MATER u Se.
La they're not one a lot of people's national media
consensus in their. Tops so why did you put BOTH
ucla guys in? Here and why are they in the top?
Five and, then, uh so are you biased?
Speaker 1 (15:12):
HERE i don't think so, Biased SO i think. So
SO i, WENT i went, honestly like when you look
at like most like you, know like Mel, Kuiper Daniel,
jeremiah when you look at like Draft, nick which is
like the thing that aggregates all the mock, Drafts Carson
sweessinger is like kind of pretty much the second. Linebacker
(15:34):
it depends on how you characterize one of these other. Guys,
second WHAT i would characterize is true off ball. Linebacker
SO i, went, OKAY i. Gotcha SO i went to you,
KNOW ucla to watch, him AND i think he pretty
much fit the, bill like he think he's got a
good feel as a. BLITZER i think he's he's excellent in.
Coverage he's got really fluid. Hips he's a big. Guy
he's he's just under six, two like six one and five,
(15:56):
eighths so six to two and he's two hundred and
forty two. Pounds so we really looks the. Part and,
again the movement skills are. Tremendous his ability to tackle
in space was very. SOLID i think the one thing
about him that he the reason he's four as opposed
to three or two is that he doesn't have to
take on. Blocks they have this really huge nose guard,
(16:16):
there two guys on the. INTERIOR i think his name's
To tofu or something like. That AND i put him
in the, notes AND i thought that, guy that nose
guard did a great job of just eating, doubles sinking
to a, hip and letting him kind of run wherever
he needed to. Run and the thing that really bothered
me about him was, like, yes you see a tremendous.
Athlete you see good, physicality see a good. Blitz you
(16:37):
see he is AN nfl athlete at, linebacker, right he's
much more akin to, athletically you, know The Fred warners
or The Zach bonds compared To Jeffrey. Bassa like that's
what you see when you're on, Film like there's a
couple where he's in THE a. Gap he's lined up
in THE a gap and he's got a drop To tampa,
two so basically becomes the third safety In tampa two.
Coverage and his hips to get out there and relate
(16:57):
to number two or relate to number three on the
C i just was, like he's gonna have to do
that at the next. Level the thing, is he doesn't
take on blocks very very, Well like he gets a
little bit. Lost like he's a guy that wants to
line up at six yards and just run to the.
Football and he's really good at, that and he's very,
fast BUT i don't know if you're going to have
the same kind of coverage up. Front you have to
(17:18):
take on, blocks right like when you watch The commanders for,
example Like Bobby wagner takes on, Blocks Frankie louvio takes on,
blocks Like Jeremy chin when he was in the box last.
Year you have to take on, blocks and he just
hasn't cultivated that skill. Set at a high. Level so,
again he is AN nfl athlete at the linebacker. Spot
BUT i, think BUT i think that the taking on
(17:39):
blocks thing makes me a little bit nervous Because i've
seen this model of. Guy it's almost like this is
this is not a fair, competent but like it reminds
me a little bit Like Cole, holkum like very, fast good,
tackler but really struggle taking on blocks and holding the
point versus offensive. LINEMAN i worry that's a. Result it
also could go the other, way and it's something that
he's got a really natural feel. For and all of a,
sudden you've, got you, know your top ten to fifteen
(18:02):
linebacker in THE nfl with a second round.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Pick is this a because you haven't seen it yet
because of what you said the defensive tackles.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
There so when you watch THE lsu, game he gets
caught up with offensive lineman and it's not. Great it's
like kind of like you watch some of these other
guys on this, list Even Jeffrey, boss and it's like
there's a nice, snap we hold the. Point he's he's
always trying to skate the. Block he's always trying to
duct the. Block if that makes. Sense so if the tackles,
high like if it's runaway and the tackles, High i'm
(18:30):
an undercut, it. Right sometimes you can't do that in the, league.
Right you got to hit that block up, right it's
a down block on. POWER i got to fit that
up and rip underneath and kind of compress the window
at THE nfl, level and he just he wants to
skate and move around. Everything and that was a big
criticism Of Peyton wilson for, example last, year is that
he didn't want to take on. BLOCKS i feel a
lot of that to his. Game Peyton wilson figured it
(18:51):
out and he's playing, fine or they put him at
will linebacker doesn't do as. MUCH i think that's kind
of a situation there you're looking at With Carson's.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Westerner all, right so your other guy FROM.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Ucla SO i went To ucla to Watch Carson, sweessenger
like that's WHY i was. There, Yeah and then there's
this guy number twenty who just kept popping and was
like just this dextrous fluid. Athletes So i'm, like, well, well
let's go look at his protein, numbers, right and what
he did at the. Combine so he had the highest
the second highest vertical jump at the. Combine he ran
(19:20):
a four to four six at the, combine he ran
a sub seven three Cone and the more you look
at three cone data in terms of like athletic correlation
of the, film it's like almost one to. One and
like really hardcore draft analysts they'll put that in their
algorithm in a way THAT i haven't done because nobody
runs it at the, Combine like we don't get to
see that. Data So i'm, like, man like that really
shows up on. Film he lines up as edge an edge,
(19:42):
Player he lines up as like a, safety like that
kind of star safety. Spot he lines up as a
true middle. Linebacker and his film Versus indiana was, Tremendous
like his ability to run with the receiver one, play
then absolutely like line up in a two point and
rush the. Tackle there was a goal line stand they
had where he picked in the seagap and made attack for.
Loss then to for him to play linebacker and get
(20:03):
hands on, blocks you, know hands on blocks and shit
and rip underneath. STUFF i was, like this is what
you want as AN nfl, linebacker like and he did
it better THAN, i you, know at least in the
three games THAT i watched Than carson Sweas. Ginger he
was more fluid Than Carson. SWASNGER i will say he
might be better fit to play Like Jeremy, chin like
box safety type guy where he's like kind of in
(20:25):
the slot on the line of scrimmage. Blitzing maybe not
a true linebacker because he's only two hundred and twenty,
pounds but, man like the movement, skills the hip, flexibility
the ability to kind of get under stuff and accelerate
to like was. Awesome he's not a thunderous tackler by
any stretch of the, imagination but like the. MOVEMENT i
was just, like, dude this Isn't and the movement coupled
(20:47):
with the ability to make plays off the, movement because
sometimes you see guys that move really well and it's not.
THERE i just felt like his floor was like his
movement floor was exactly what you want for the modern day,
linebacker and it had some nice splashes of physicality in
terms of taking on blocks and making plays at line of.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Scrimmage well, SAID i will confirm there is no bruin bias.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Here, yeah, dude he's a, ballplayer.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Man that's that's pretty good facts back some stuff.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Up and so it was funny, because, like you, know
there was a report That Adam peters was At UCLA's
prote AND i was, like, oh he's a Former, Bruin
like he's probably just going out to you, know keep those.
Connections but after watching their, defense there's a they've got
some ballers on the, Defense like you, know all the,
Day joe's out, there these, two these two guys are
out there the defensive. LINEMENT i just talked abouts out,
(21:35):
there like there's some there's four or five draftable guys
That i'm aware, of AND i haven't looked at their secondary,
yet and SO i, think, like Obviously i'm not saying
A bruin's going to be coming, here but there's five
draftable guys in that group at the pro day on
the defensive side of the. Football and, dude and, AGAIN
i was totally surprised By, Maderno LIKE i totally, Surprised
like it was one of those things where you're watching.
(21:56):
Film you're, Like i'm trying to watch forty, nine trying
to watch and twenty just kept splashing Some, michael let's
go watch twenty and all of that. Stuff and again
he might be more of a, safety but, man he.
Was he's a ball, player, man, ballplayer fun to.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Watch speaking of a guy that's fun to, WATCH i
want to talk about a guy that's not on your.
LIST i want to talk About.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
Pooh SO i, KNOW i was trying to look him
up AND i was Typing Chris paul and like nothing came.
Up and THEN i went to the you know that
we have that the co pilot, thing AND i was
like looking for him and it's Says, pooh AND i
was like, that what is going on? Here?
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Yeah So, Chris Chris, Pooh Paul pooh like the bear
From Ole. Miss this dude's a dog who has great.
Burst he is an. Athlete. Man he takes excellent. Angles
he's really good at coverage in, zone really good at.
It and when he, hits it's like with a nice. Thud.
(22:53):
OKAY i really loved watching. HIM i didn't see him
on your, list AND i was surprised of. It SO
i WANT i don't want you to like talk me,
off like. DOWN i don't want you to talk him,
down BUT i want you to tell, me like what
about what you're? Seeing like didn't get him on the.
List is he closed to your list because the couple
(23:15):
of things THAT i see that maybe our. Negatives he
looks smaller Now he's, like he's not. Really he's six'
one two, thirty five like is a. Little smaller but
like we're talking about in the new way defenses, are
played he can be right that kind of like. He
could it's that safety converted safety kind. Of build but
(23:35):
he does look small in film for. Whatever reason and
he does struggle with shedding blocks during the. Run, games
yeah those are the only, two negatives but because EVERYTHING else.
I love he is excellent at moving to a spot
in zone coverage while keeping his eyes ON a qb
and being instinctual enough to, Be, Like okay i'm gonna
break on.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
This RIGHT so i DON'T think i think when people
see that he's not on, my list like he's like
a bad. FOOTBALL player i think when you watch, THIS
film i think you see a, guy that like, you
said has good Like running. HITTO instincts i think he's
good at he's okay at taking. On blocks, EXCUSE me
i think he's physical when he takes. ON blocks i
think his lack of length shows up more than i'd
(24:17):
like IT to i think if he's GOT to, i
think if he's got to live in, the box he
because he does get enveloped by offensive lineman and he
kind of does. The whole he does the whole, like,
helmet shoulder like full body into. The BLOCK and i
can tell you after having blocked guys, like that it's
nice because like they're not they make it easy, on,
You right they just they just run right. Into you fit,
your hands you run, your feet and it's. A stalemate
(24:39):
and AT the, nfl level like that's. Gonna be he's
got to learn how to play with his hands a little.
Bit BETTER and I think i don't disagree with what
you said about the. ZONE coverage i think there was
a stiffness in his back pedal and when he had
to open his hips to relate to like when he
had to relate to Receivers because, elvis defenses you're just
dropping to, a, Spot right we're just kind of going true. Like,
That right so when you Watch Like Carson Sweesseinger, maderno
(25:04):
bassa like they actually play, man coverage they relate. To
RECEIVERS and i felt like there's a guy on my
LIST that i have a lot and he's on your
list TOO that i have a lot of. Concern ABOUT
but i felt like he Just didn't he doesn't have
the hips to do it AT the, nfl level so
the size to.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Do it at a high LEVEL. The, nfl, yeah right
he's going to BE an.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
Nfl, Player YEAH but i do think but so, TO
me I think i wrote down on my breakdown, of
him he feels like a special teams guy. Right now
and the Obviously, Like london fletcher came into the league
as a special, teams, guy right and he brought that
up as a, comp, Yesterday right like he came in
as a special, teams Guy but london ran a four
three two. Or, something well my it was going.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
To be, he's like it's Just like, you're, like yeah a,
Little SMALLER and i, was like So? Is, London right
like my point being with you IS like i was
just trying to Fight for POOH because i Really.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Like, Pooh, right, no, no, NO yeah, i know but like so,
to me it's like the the lack of length shows
up in the, run GAME and i think that's going
to hurt him if he has to play all, three
downs AND then i don't think he's good enough a
good enough athlete to do the coverage stuff that you
see like the top end.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Guys do so that that WAS where i was, just like,
you know is he good? College, player yeah but how does?
That translate how does that project TO the?
Speaker 2 (26:21):
Nfl level, all right my number five and your number
two are.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
The, same yeah this one was hard for ME because
i really liked the movement skills of the Three guys
i've already Mentioned, the bosses The, sweah JER the. MADERI
note i really liked those guys quite. A bit and
then you get To Demit, demetrius night, the second and
He's From, south carolina, number seventeen and he is just a,
Maniac dude like just A big he's got, Long arms
(26:49):
he's got thirty three, Inch arms like he looks like
a defensive end playing. Middle linebacker like he's got this
great feel for like taking on blocks at the, linta
scrimmage throwing guys to, the ground. Ripping under he is
maybe of the Guys that i've seen the most communicative,
On defense like he's calling, the defense he's making the
checks like he's a, former quarterback Went To georgia tech
(27:11):
as a quarterback and then Transferred To south carolina to,
play LINEBACKER and i just. Loved him, and again the
thing that is differentiates him from the rest of. The
guys he's, this big hulking kind. Of guy he's almost
two hundred and fifty four to almost two hundred and.
Forty pounds doesn't run in coverage, super WELL but i
think he runs well Enough that, I'M like i think
he could get better in. This area given, the length given,
(27:33):
the size given how he plays on versus, SECOND down
i think you could find a way to insulate him
in coverage and hopefully see him grow in coverage because
he seems like he's. Very STUDIOUS but i remember watching
him At The senior bowl in a really hard time
with the one, on ones like in straight manned, man
coverage when you can't when he can't get hands, ON
people i think he's going to. Really struggle AND again
I think i made this note like if he was if,
(27:55):
the draft if he came out fifteen, years ago he'd
for sure be a first round pick because of how
the position, has, changed right it's changed.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
Pretty dramatic he looks like the classic middle linebacker when
you think, to yourself the great middle linebackers and they
what they look like as far, As, build, yes right
he fits.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
That mold like he kind of reminds me of like
a body type Of Like, ray lewis like kind of
those high, shelf pads like the long arms like. Down,
football yeah he's built. Like that and so all the
other guys on, the, list like no one really looks.
Like that they're kind of these bigger safety, live movers and.
He's this he's a THROWBACK and i love how. He
Plays and i'm just hoping that his athletic is because
(28:35):
he tested better at the COMBINE than i thought, he
would that they just didn't ask him to do the coverage.
Stuff enough he's new to the position that he could
learn how. To, do hey you're fast enough to relate
to a. Tight end you're fast enough and long enough
to playman coverage on a. Tight end we just got
to coach you up and get. You THERE because i
do think even though he is a, BIG guy i
think the base movement skills seem to. Be there i'm
(28:57):
just hoping you can coach them up and get.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
Them, there yeah he is quick to, Spots too like
he recognizes where the play, is going where the running
back's gonna go and, He's like i'm gonna beat, you there.
Very right it's. Very instinctual and he also the thing
that stood out to me more than all the OTHERS
that i really liked or just. JUMPED off i, Was,
like oh. That's cool is he has like a really
nice pop from. No, momentum, yes right like if he's
(29:22):
not flat footed because he's on the balls of, his
feet but he can explode and still hit somebody even
when there's no running start or a couple of.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
Steps start and you made and we made the comparison
to like those, older linebackers and that's a big part.
Of it he's got that skill down at such a.
High level, you know we talked about sweasing, jury SPECIFICALLY
who i think is a really good. Football player he doesn't, have,
That right knighton. Has that and it's so and it's
so hard for me to shut my brain off and,
(29:50):
be like does that play AT the nfl level because
my whole ten, year career like that's. What played dudes
that could do that played at a. High level And
so i'm just hoping that, that skill which is so
refined and he's got so much like instinct in the
run game at a near the line of scrimmage that we, can,
say hey you tested better than. WE thought i think
you're in a four or, five, nine four five eight something.
Like that so. He's fast can we just now get
(30:13):
him to transfer some of these instincts in the run
game to just serviceable level pass? Game coverage, and again.
He didn't they didn't ask him to, do it so
it feels a little bit unfair to knock him. On
it but seeing him At The, senior bowl like how
he struggled with the like those crazy. Athletic BACKS but
i really like, the player really liked. The projection but
that is it is a projection because of the. Coverage
(30:34):
skills so that's the ONLY thing i.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Gotta Say, ALL right i want to talk about one
linebacker before we get to your, number one because our
number ones were, the, same yep but this guy was
my number two and he's not on your list. At
all i'm going to Talk About jalen Walker. From georgia, Real,
quick hey six two two. Forty, Five okay so, he's big, he's,
physical right he's, Instinctial enough AND what i mean by
(30:58):
that Is Like derek couple OF plays i Watched the.
Texas game there are a couple of plays where he
drops in the zone coverage and, then, realizes okay there's
nobody in. MY zone i need to go find, Work
RIGHT and i believe It Was arch manning was in
the game at. This point i'm going to talk about a.
Specific play so he, drops Back Sees arch manning, looking,
(31:20):
Goes okay i'm going to fill this, window HERE so
i can't he can't throw to the wide receiver, crossing
here fills. The window arch pulls the. Ball back, he goes,
all Right now, i'm attacking and then he runs After
arch manny And makes arch throw this wild. Errant pass it,
was like that's. Really smart quickly fill, the window then,
(31:40):
Attack RIGHT like i really. Liked that that was a very,
instinctual play very. Smart play he's not excellent and man
to man coverage. At. All right he's a. Little slower
he's a little stiff side, to side like going sideline.
A sideline he's a little too slow to get you
get THERE like i. See that, but man he's got
enough power AND juice i think to be a rusher off.
(32:04):
The edge he's got a motor and explosiveness to make
plays near the line. At scrimmage so the reason he's
my number two IS because i don't know where to.
Place HIM but i think if you say, to him
we're going to make you a rusher or we're going
to put you as an off, ball linebacker that does
kind of like you're going to be responsible for this.
(32:24):
Little area like if you limit what his role is
and say go do these superpower things, YOU have i
think he's going to be.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Very, disruptive yeah he's Basically Like frankie luvu kind of
like that kind.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
Of role so to, me, role yes he's much Stiffer, Than.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
Yeah frankie he's not on my LIST because i had
him just playing straight defensive end like we, should have
like when we did our, edge list should he like after,
watching him he should be on. THAT list i think.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
You would and that's why he's so high because he
can rush. The passer so maybe a team drafts him and, it's,
like oh he's on my, linebacker list is, number two and, it's,
like yeah a team's gonna, be like, all right you're
rushing the pass, and like SO now i look like
an IDIOT because i had him as, a linebacker but
he can do that kind of he he can. Do
it he can do some, zone coverage he can do,
(33:09):
some man it's just he can't do all of it
and it's not.
Speaker 1 (33:13):
Super, WELL yeah i think that's the thing for me
with him is like every like even the play you
Described With, archie manning like he's a spy on. That
player it might not be the, exact one but they
did In that texas game. Spy him he spied.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
A lot yeah it wasn't in that, exact way.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
But yeah he spies. A LOT and i just think
he's at his best when he's moving downhill towards the line.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
Of, script absolutely like you.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
Want him you want him on the ad line of,
scrimmage rushing or you want him as the spinner in
the middle of, the field in the middle of the
front like blitzing the a gap because he's a. Great
blitzer you want him attacking the line. Of scrimmage and
so basically, for me after, watching him like BECAUSE everyone
i kind OF said i was an, Agile linebacker like
when you watch his, coverage stuff he's just. TOO stiff,
i think like that's that's it Sounds like i'm being pejorative,
(33:55):
to him like he's it's. It's hard it's a complicated position, to,
play right you got to be able to do. Multiple
THINGS and i think when he's backing away from a line,
of scrimmage you're just not getting. A you you just
take away what makes.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Him GOOD and i think that's where our. DIFFERENCE is
i think it's not on our evaluation necessarily the players
THAT when i was putting, THIS together i was saying, to, myself,
well okay if he's if he's a, pass rusher just
make him a. Pass rusher, AND like i think he's
going to be so good at that that he values
on number two PLAYER that i watched out of all
these guys where you're thinking more of like the traditional
(34:27):
WHAT do i need you in? A linebacker, not traditional
but WHAT do i need you as a linebacker? Right
now and maybe he's?
Speaker 1 (34:33):
Not, There YEAH so i think the thing for me
was LIKE if i had to put him at edge,
FULL time i think he would be the third or
fourth edge of, the class right you KNOW what? I
mean SO like i was just, like that that's like
where he should probably GO because i don't think he'll
ever be like a true off. BALL player i do
think he gives you, some flexibility like on versus, second
down if you want him to do Like The michael
(34:55):
parsons thing where he's playing linebacker part Time and atlanta scrimmage.
PART time i THINK when i, WATCH him i. WANT
him i want him, MOVING forward i want. HIM blitzing
i want him, being aggressive, because again he's not. Greating
coverage so, TO me i, was like when you look
at any when you look at go watch a highlight.
OF him i think this is a really good kind.
Of benchmark there's it's all him at line of scrimmage
(35:16):
or blitzing like that's what, he's doing or in, a
spiral and it's a skill to be. A spy it's
a skill, to blitz it's a skill to rush. The
passer and those guys get paid a lot. Of money
so why not just put him? In THERE because i
don't think he can cover AT the. Nfl level and
so That's where, i'd say, like yeah and again like
this is not an indictment. Of him and he's a
fourth edge rusher on my, list, Now right so like good,
PLAYER obviously i just don't think he's like a quote,
(35:39):
unquote linebacker.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
Gotcha one, hundred percent? All right but the number, one, Linebacker.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
Yeah johan Campbell, From alabama and this dude man like
whatever you want him, to do he can do. It
right he can take, on blocks he, can blitz he
can rush from a two point stance off. The edge
he's pretty fluid in, His hips like he can get
to spots in. Zone coverage he's he can get to
pretty much any place On the like it was weird
(36:04):
watching him because it just was like the just a
different cut of mover at the size he was at,
and uh just, really instinctive can take like a nice
length with, his arms like anything that we've, talked about
there were deficiency with other players like just weren't. With
HIM sometimes i wonder about like, his football like his TRUE,
(36:25):
football iq Like With demarius knighton, For example like you
can tell he's like he's he's calling, the defense he's
pointing Stuff Out, john campbell that's not his role in.
The defense so he's being told what to do quite.
A bit so, you're like how intuitive? Are you but
he's instinctive to. The football he, makes plays he. Gets
downhill he's A decent he's not a. Great tackler he's a,
(36:48):
decent TACKLER but i think that's all like just in terms.
Of athlete i'd really understand why people are talking about
him as like a first round pick, and honestly like
he's a guy after watching Him where, i'm like if
he if you wanted, a dynamic explosive piece for, a
DEFENSE like i could See the commander's taking him at.
Twenty nine like he feels like he could be in
that kind of twenty five to forty range in the
(37:10):
draft and maybe even higher depending ON how i hate
doing these like ranges because we haven't done our big.
Boards YET but i really was impressed, with him like
he's like explosively impressed with his ability just to do
kind of whatever you wanted him.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
TO do i think he actually so one of the
THINGS that i really liked about him is that he
trusts himselves to go make, plays right and he's, Aggressive
right like if he thinks this is, a run he's
attacking it like, play action, be damned like he's going
and like more often than that. He's, Right yeah so
a part of, me THINKS like i think that actually
(37:48):
may speak to HIS football iq or just work ethics
and IT'S.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
Still i THINK he's i think he's a very. INSTINCTIVE
player i wonder if like you got him on, the
board like if he can tell you how we run
our Cover six like, there's guys what? You, WATCH yeah
i got what. You're, SAYING yeah, i think but he is,
He's instinctive like there's no don't, Get IT like i
don't WANT to i don't want to mince, Words here like.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
HE'S instinctive i mean one of my like THINGS that
i put in like the red category was like he's
almost over instinctive and overreactive because sometimes he like he
gets a little too antsy and he puts himself in
a bad position or not a, bad position but like
makes the. Tackle harder, excuse me because he got there.
Too quick the angle is a little off, the bit
(38:30):
like man being too quick to a spot is like
that's a good problem. To have like he's just, so
athletic really, nice build. Good TACKLER and i wrote down
here how long are his, arms looking because he looks
like he's just they.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
Weren't as LONG as i thought. THAT'D be i think
they were thirty two and. A half but like he
plays with great he plays.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
With, length yeah, so man what a. GREAT player i
just really enjoyed. WATCHING him i didn't expect him to
be as high UP or i like him as much
because he's he's high up when a lot of big
boards for people or top linebackers, for people but most
of them Have Like, jalen WALKER and I just i
(39:13):
don't know he's but to me like he's very clearly
the best linebacker in.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
This, GROUP yeah i, Think SO and i think it's
is his, Game, Perfect NO but i think when you're
talking about projection IN the, nfl level like the, movement skills,
the instincts the ability to work away from the football
and work towards, the football it's all there in a
full package that not no one else in the draft,
class has. You KNOW and i THINK and i, actually
like really like my list after, reviewing it like in
(39:40):
TERMS of nfl athletes at, the position but he's just a,
cut above, you know it does feel like he's going
to be a first round player.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
At linebacker, all right those are a top five. LINEBACKERS
logan i want you to. Do this read here on your,
next page and then we're going to the top. Five,
Vibe guys i'm super excited, for this but first tell Me.

Tight ship. All right the top five, Vibe, guys okay
these are guys that are maybe not in our top
(41:10):
five best players or not high on. BIG boards, I
mean i have a guy, on here a couple of
Guys on you're actually that may. Go undrafted that's not.
The point the point is IS that i hope they
go drafted because they. Have vibes there's something about. WATCHING
them i like talking. About them so let's start. WITH
you i have FIVE because i kind of stuck to
(41:31):
the the prop to, the PARAMETERS so i will.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
YOU nuts i wanted to use this as a way, to, say,
hey like this is a guy that has name you
might know that we maybe have not talked about. That
much plus a guy that's a little bit maybe under. The.
Speaker 2 (41:42):
Radar sir here's here's how we're gonna do this. Real
quick i'm not going to talk, about yours you're not
going to talk. About mine i'm pitching you. The vibe
you're pitching me. The, vibe okay, all right and that's
how we're gonna keep. This going does that?
Speaker 1 (41:53):
Make?
Speaker 2 (41:53):
Sense?
Speaker 1 (41:54):
Perfect yeah? All Right so i'll start OFF with i
got two d ms on. My list so One Is,
donovan AZERAKU and i know maybe you've heard. About him
i've seen him getting mocked To the commanders of twenty
nine quite. A bit we did not talk about him
a ton on, our show and to be, FULLY transparent
i had him off my top ten list by he
was at. Number eleven BUT then i went back recently
(42:14):
and watched all of his pressures and the vibe. Was,
there man the vibe, was high just from a guy,
who understood understands the dark arts of rushing, the passer right, body,
position leverage how to protect my, inside shoulder, hand usage,
spin move how to get the tackle. Off balance he's got,
Great length he's six, to two he's got thirty four,
(42:34):
Inch ARMS and i just, was, LIKE man i didn't realize.
THIS guy i don't. KNOW what i watched two games,
from him and he. Showed up. He flashed but to
watch the pressures back to back to back and how
he finishes, WITH sacks, i, thought man this is In the.
Commander's defense this would. Be tremendous AND so i really liked,
the player like. His wiring loved him At The, senior
(42:57):
BOWL and i just because we have not talked about
him A to i figured just throw him out there
as to why you're seeing him at twenty nine when
we didn't have him our, top ten and to be,
fully transparent he was probably one of the FIRST players
i watched for this. Entire process so sometimes, you know out,
of sight out, of mind kind of getting back to
it reviewing some of. The, stuff yeah just incredibly impressed
with his ability to rush, the passer can win in
(43:18):
multitude of ways and can bring a lot of juice to.
A defense here's YOUR Other Dn david Walker From. Central
arkansas are you familiar? With him you heard that? Name,
before yeah okay for you that for those of you
at home. Who haven't he's, six foot he's got thirty two.
Inch arms he's two hundred and sixty, seven pounds so
like a tight, fire hydrant tight. Build BODY and i
(43:39):
went BACK and i Was Watching senior bowl CUTUPS and
i realized that he did not lose a pass rushing
rep At The. Senior bowl so, it's like let me
just go watch some stuff from Him At central arkansas
and dude looks like a man. Amongst, boys now level
of competitions a little, bit different but can win with
the cross shop when with, the bull and he does have.
Atomic POWER and i heard this COM from i heard
(44:01):
this top com from Somebody The brandon graham Comp And
brandon krahm is a, shorter guy, heavier guy but plays with.
Elite power and we've seen somebody in recent history with,
great power And That's. Jared VERSE so i am not
Saying He's. Jared verse i'm not Saying He's, brandon Graham
but i'm saying when dudes have that trump card of
being able to, bowl anybody like He Bowled Anthony Belton
(44:22):
Denton anthony benton At The, senior Bowl And anthony benton
weighs three hundred and, fifty pounds like he is a
big dude and he was just eating. People up He
ate Donovan az arokue but didn't lose a rep At The.
Senior bowl, great power and people are talking about all
we have to take an edge at. TWENTY nine i
wouldn't be opposed to that if they took an edge of.
Twenty Nine but i'm saying this is a, ball player
(44:42):
ball player that there's a little bit of risk because of.
The frame but if you were to take him in
the SECOND or i think we were a fourth, round
pick second or, fourth, round man you would be getting
a guy that could make your defense. Significantly better and,
to me he reminds me a Lot Of, jalen walker
like that kind, of, shorter squadier, high power high motor
type guy and that you could get later in. The
draft so just want to give him a.
Speaker 2 (45:03):
Shout out ten and a, half sacks four forest fumbles
is her eight Quarterback hicks like he's he's.
Speaker 1 (45:10):
Putting it on there when you watch Them Es central,
Arkansas man like you can just tell these, tackles like,
damn it, DAMN it i got to block this guy
for the full. Whole game so good ballplayer.
Speaker 2 (45:19):
For, Sure okay i'm going to pitch you on, some, guys.
Speaker 1 (45:22):
Dude what i've. Saw you so the first one is an.
EASY pitch I think.
Speaker 2 (45:25):
Kyle McCord, All Right so i'm going to do two quarterbacks.
For you kyle McCord, from, syracuse right he Was At
ohio state for three, years before so he's a transfer from.
Over there the WAY that i kind of like to
describe him is he's a Slightly Shorter joe flacco like
that kind of style, and build like there's just nothing.
That likes there's no flash. To him but here's why
(45:47):
he has vibes. For me RIGHT when i watch. Him
play he has a seventy six point nine percent. Win,
percentage okay. Pretty good that's second best in school History.
At syracuse he was first in school history for three hundred.
Yard games he had twelve of them. This year. Pretty
good and he owns the consecutive pass record without an
(46:10):
interception for. Program mystery that was two hundred and thirty
four pass attempts without. An interception so my guy doesn't
turn the, Ball over my guy slings.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
It.
Speaker 2 (46:20):
Around right you.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
Don't need to sell me. ON this i almost had
him as my. Fifth, quarterback.
Speaker 2 (46:25):
Okay okay he is great pre post. Snap. Reads right
he is a good touch on the ball and zip
it really when he needed his arms strings only kind.
Of solid he can't sling it down the field. Too
much That's Where, joe flacco that's six. To Six joe
flacco kind of gets him with that arm strength down.
The field but it's a nice deep, Ball though like,
it's nice it's catch, a, ball right it doesn't wobble in.
(46:47):
The air he is not phased. By pressure he does.
Not care, all right he's.
Speaker 1 (46:51):
Got it but he. Looked great he. Looked great He. At,
syracuse yeah he looked like. A dude he. Looked yeah
really he was. The dude not.
Speaker 2 (46:59):
Super athletic he's going to stand in. The, pocket really
that's gonna be kind of. His thing like you're not
going to ask him to run for, first, downs right.
He could he can, move around but. He's not he's not.
That that he's not going to bring that tool. With
him he's going to be basically a. Pocket passer he
can get a little aggressive trying to fit in, tight
windows and when the game starts to really, speed up
(47:21):
that's where his accuracy goes down, for him like when
it gets too fast. For him but that's, not often
as you saw with the consecutive pass streak without. An
interception the reason that vibes are high IS because i
don't think he's getting. Enough talk it is possible, TO
me i could see him possibly being, the, fourth fifth
(47:41):
maybe even third quarterback taken in. THIS draft i could
see somebody looking at him, and going this guy with
a little bit of tweak could be a very solid
backup and potential starter.
Speaker 1 (47:55):
For us so you've watched more quarterbacks. Than, me Yeah
you who's who's your top?
Speaker 4 (48:00):
Five Guys it's ward, For sure Schuder and dart are
pretty close to, each other And then i'm probably getting
into The.
Speaker 2 (48:12):
McCord.
Speaker 1 (48:13):
SHUCK yeah i really. LIKE sho i Really. LIKE shuck I.
Speaker 2 (48:17):
Mean i'm staying Away from Gabriel and howard probably maybe
yours Is in.
Speaker 1 (48:25):
There was tough watch. FOR me i was like he
was on my list, of five but total upside play.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
For me milroe doesn't have the vibes for me.
Speaker 1 (48:36):
Fast though he's a hell.
Speaker 2 (48:37):
Of, an athlete but not.
Speaker 1 (48:40):
Accurately though that's.
Speaker 2 (48:42):
The, thing, like Yeah like milroe IS like i don't
want to Get. Into miroe we're talking about, good, vibe
right good vibes.
Speaker 1 (48:52):
Four. Fifth, guy, yeah yeah and there's just.
Speaker 2 (48:55):
GOOD vibe i don't think enough people Are talking aboudham.
QUARTERBACK wise I just i think there are some things
that he does just as well or maybe even Better. Than,
Shadar right so like there's just he's a. Good player
he's a real. Good player and obviously he Was At
ohio state for. Three years like if You're At, ohio
state like they see something. In you there's something. ABOUT
(49:15):
him i want to talk about. Another QUARTERBACK and i
told you this. Last night he may. Go undrafted he may.
Go undrafted he text me. THIS list i, was like
what are? We doing but, holy cow are his highlights?
A vibe? All right so this is The Quarterback diego Pavia.
From vanderbilt everybody remembers the Win versus Alabama. With, vanderbilt
(49:37):
okay he had an eighty percent completion percentage in. That
game he was on. A fire he got no OFFERS
for fbs out of, high school so he plays with
kind of this chip on. His shoulder in, high school
he was a three sport athlete and a state champion.
For wrestling played also football. And baseball he had this
season he had and ninety passing yards in twenty tds
(50:01):
with only, four interceptions eight hundred and one rushing yards.
Eight touchdowns he is a maniac on the field all over.
The place he, can run he. Slings it, he's aggressive
AND like, i said he can play to the. Big
moment With that, alabama game he. Was, nuts okay here's
why he might not. Get, drafted also this year He, Played, Texas,
(50:23):
Auburn Tennessee, SOUTH carolina lsu all pretty. Good defenses he
was under fifty percent completion percentage in, those games which is.
Not great so he's not consistent, at all especially against.
Good teams he had that crazy Game. Against alabama but
why is he on my top?
Speaker 1 (50:38):
Five?
Speaker 2 (50:39):
Vibe guys watch. His highlights he is, A dog he is.
An animal he is the best you play. Flag football
he's the best flag football player you ever, Played with
like just, out there the best athlete you'd. Ever seen
but he's playing flag football AND not nfl because he's
(50:59):
very not good at other things and in, this instance
he's not the best at throwing, the football which is
what you need. At quarterback but when he, is on
he is. A, vibe.
Speaker 1 (51:10):
Well can't wait to go check out. His sighlights we're
doing with THIS because i have not watched, Him honestly, SO.
Speaker 2 (51:15):
Yeah i mean it's just fun. To watch if you
like watching, fun football Check Out diego Pavia from.
Speaker 1 (51:20):
Vanderbilt's highlights, all RIGHT so i got two Receivers Next
jaellen Nole From, iowa STATE and i just he might
be on my list of like for sure things, at
Receiver like i'm sure you guys have heard. Of him
we talked a Lot About, jade higgins the other Receiver From,
iowa state and, this, guy man he's, just quick, he's
explosive he catches the football well that he's got that dog. In,
(51:40):
him man he's got that dog competitor. To him and
when you talk to People From, iowa state like that.
Comes out it's like he. Loves football he loves. To
compete shows up on film when you go To The.
Senior bowl he's running, outside routes running. Inside routes he's got.
Great acceleration tested well at. THE combine i think there's
a role for him AT the. NFL level i think
that's going to predicate in the height of where he,
(52:01):
gets drafted, you know in terms of how how. He
GOES but i think he is a heck a heck
of a. Football player when you're looking at kind of
pure slot guys that have some, outside upside, you know
kind of in that same vein As like Restrepo. FROM
miami i think, this guy to me fits the bill one.
Hundred percent and THE more i hear, about him THE
more i fall in love, with HIM because i want,
dog competitors and he fits the bill for that one.
(52:21):
Hundred percent the NEXT receiver i Got Is dante Thornton,
from Tennessee and i've had so many people ask me,
about him like why are people talking? About him what's? Going,
on okay here. We go he had twenty six catches
last Year at tennessee, twenty six so not. A lot
he had, six touchdowns six hundred and sixty one. Yards,
receiving right he. Is explosive he, is explosive. HE'S fast
(52:43):
i think he tracks the football. Pretty well, he's big
he's six four and, a half he's two hundred and,
Ten pounds like he looks like A true. X RECEIVER
if i if it's the, fifth round sixth round and he's,
Sitting there i'm pulling the. Trigger man his dude can flat.
Out scoot the problem is he only runs goes, and posts,
like literally like he runs a go or a post
and he's is.
Speaker 2 (53:02):
Your super powered to go?
Speaker 1 (53:03):
Do it he's really good. At it but as a
vibe like he's big and, He's fast i'm, about that,
you know like he kind of falls in like the
The the ney or, you Know the nebraska RECEIVER that
i like. So much he falls in that bucket, For
me like is it? A? Projection yes are there things
To Be like mayor had a, ten ras this guy
had a nine nine. Eighty seven like that's a Vibe
(53:24):
and i'm about it because it's going to add a
huge element to THE like i think about for, the
commanders like your ability to take the top off, a
defense to play, special teams to play gunn or something.
Like that like that's a VIBE and i. Like it,
but again people aren't talking about him in there's like
a second round pick or a third round pick because
he had twenty. Six catches, but yeah the go of
the post is a vibe and he's a big dude.
Speaker 2 (53:43):
Can RUN so i have a question.
Speaker 1 (53:45):
For, you, yeah ah do You Like?
Speaker 2 (53:47):
LAGARRETT blunt i Do Like.
Speaker 1 (53:49):
Lagarrett blund he's a kind of a. Vibe guy he's
for sure a. Vibe guy one of my favorite runner
backs of like of my era of.
Speaker 2 (53:55):
Playing football, all right let me tell You About alli
gordon in the second because he reminds Me Of. Laguarrett
bunt he's just. Big, boy okay he's six two two,
twenty five but he plays bigger. Than, that honestly he has,
good vision hits a hole with decisive, and power can
wiggle a little bit to get in, muddy areas wrapping
them up. As difficult not, super, fast right but he
(54:17):
has big things going. For him three. Of them three
Big things i'm gonna tell you about. All right for,
number one excellent hands for, his size and his. Run
style he gets busy in pass protection almost like he,
loves it. Loves it and he's a bruiser who will
Wear d, lineman down slow their pass rush once you
(54:37):
get to the. FOURTH quarter i just see like a
team Like, the Bills, the ravens they'd love a guy
like this one. Their team he's not gonna be in every.
Down back he's not going to be. Your bellcow but
you bring this, guy in maybe he develops into Like
A lagarrett blunt type. Of style good, enough hands but
just a. Bruising runner not it's, super fast but fast enough.
(54:59):
Like that THAT'S what i See From. Ali gordon the
second we just did, running backs we didn't talk. About
him he, WAS like i hope right outside your top
ten we were talking, about him but his Vibes Are. Legarrett,
Blunt yeah and that's an asset to, a TEAM so.
Speaker 1 (55:15):
I didn't so the thing about him is LIKE when
i see a, BIG back i want him to break
tackles consistently and he, runs hard but he's like contact
balance wasn't there. For, me again the pass, pro stuff
the way he catches, THE football i think. It's great
AND so I think i like the way you. Characterize
that like maybe at the next level his role is
like third down pass catcher as opposed to first or second.
Down guy as, he develops, and yeah.
Speaker 2 (55:35):
He's going to get. In there he's going to pass pro.
On that if you hand them, the ball he's going
to bruise somebody, right like.
Speaker 1 (55:41):
But he doesn't like he kind of a first contact
usually brings. HIM down, i mean he's finishing the run
like he's punishing. The guy but he's not like you
know your cam scatabooze or you know you're he's junkins
where you're making people miss and doing. Some stuff he's.
A vibe he's, a vibe. For sure he's. A vibe,
all right they are doing.
Speaker 2 (55:59):
Construction here if you guys can hear that over. The
pod i'm not going to tell them. To stop so
we're just gonna roll. Through it they're making the locker,
ROOMS better i think. Right, now, yeah which WHY would
i tell them to stop that while we're doing? This
pod this pod is nearly not important enough to stop
the locker rooms from. Looking nice, So Yeah adam Peters
And dan quinn are really and the ownership group are
(56:20):
really investing in, this place and that's an. Exciting thing
so it's used. The noise we are actually excited that
they're doing this Round hered so if it's a little
off putting in on, THE audio. I apologize i'll do
my best to clean. It up but thanks for sticking,
with us, all Right leg.
Speaker 1 (56:35):
So we got tight ENDS and i just, figured like
let's talk about some tight ENDS that i like that
we didn't, talk about we didn't talk about With with
jeremy when we do. The show so first Off is Benjamin.
Nei asik and he's a guy THAT when i watched,
the film. He's good he's good at doing tight, end stuff,
inline stuff full, back stuff, great hands, great footwork, good
(56:56):
fit understands how to leverage, people out and he can
run a. Little, BIT yeah I think i don't think.
He talked we talked about him our top five list
because he's a little. Bit smaller he's like six three
and a half, six four but two. Forty five usually
don't see those inline guys built that. Same way they're
built a little. Bit bigger they're like in the two
fifty two sixty two seventy, type Range Like jackson Hawes From.
(57:18):
Georgia tech but he plays like that, like great a
great run game TECHNICIAN that i think's going to make
a roster IN. The nfl the other Guy is Aronde
gats in the Second. From sarahcuse he's so the idea
of him is. The vibe so like the, First Guy
benjamin arosik is the VIBE because i just love the
technicality that he plays WITH and i love, The athlete
(57:38):
SO like i think he's Gonna be Arndi gatst in.
The vibe the vibe is what he. Can be he's
six five and, a half he's got thirty four. Inch
arms he can he's a converted. Wide receiver and The
way sarah accues, used him like it's funny when you
were Talking about, KYLE McCord i, was, Like man gatson
caught so many of these balls where you can kind
(57:59):
of play isolation basketball with him put him on, the
perimeter catch a, fade run a, slant run a, hitch
run a. Deep cross he's really tight in, his HIPS
so i worry about his ability to separate in the.
Short area but when you, think about like kind of
the next machination of past catching tight ends with that kind,
Of frame that's what gets me really excited, About him,
(58:20):
and like you have to fit him like kind Of Like.
Oli gordon you got to be in the. Right role
they got to use. Him correctly but the idea of
what a body, that big that moves, like that that
catches the football in contested catch situations the way he
does can be at the next level is. Very, exciting logan.
Speaker 2 (58:39):
My guy the next one is the edge Rusher From Marshall,
mike green, You're, cheating okay it's. Not cheating. Here's why
when we came From The, SENIOR bowl i saw mock
drafts having him go in the. Top ten now he
is falling down to the later. First ROUND feel i
think We are it may be, course CORRECTING but i
(58:59):
think maybe we're falling. Too far, and ORIGINALLY originally i
on this podcast was very hesitant about him and talked
about like the why is he up? So high? Right
now i'm you, know What now i'm On The mike
green TRAIN because i want to enter. The dragon this
Dude Is. BRUCE lee i made the comparison, Earlier, that
(59:21):
Okay He's. Bruce lee what if he Runs Into cliff
booth from once upon a Time in hollywood and like, a,
bigger stronger faster guy and They Just bruce lee just
can't stay. With it but guess What About. Cliff Booth
cliff booth, Is Fictional bruce lee is a real and
what if he Really Is, bruce lee like The Legit?
(59:42):
Bruce LEE like i want this vibe around seventeen sacks,
this year twenty two and a half tackles, for losses
eighty four. Tackles overall this dude is, just, fast fluid
has all. THE moves I don't i know if he
can do it at the. Next level that is the
pause because Of the marshall and the talent that he
(01:00:04):
went against there in the level. Of competition but if
he CAN take i don't need seventeen sacks. From him
if he can come in and be a EIGHT nine
sat guy in his, rookie year oh, my gosh that's.
Striking GOLD So i brustolee is. A vibe he is.
Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
A vibe his film is one of the more. Fun
films i'm probably the funnest film. To, watch like he's.
Just disruptive he's, a PLAYMAKER like i got, nothing baddest.
Nothing badest it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
Does like this basketball euro, step move which.
Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
Is, awesome yeah he's a, great, Player man, and yeah
so it is. A vibe his. Film is if you
haven't watched, this film go watch a highlight clicking. On
YouTube it's a good way to spend fifteen minutes, because
man he has a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (01:00:47):
To Watch, all right your last two guys And then
i'm gonna do my last two, guys last because you're
two GUYS like. I don't your vibe IS very. O
line my guys are, wide RECEIVERS and i think mine
are more fun to, Talk About so i'm going to.
Do them so tell me ABOUT your o. Line vibes
why are they a vibe?
Speaker 1 (01:01:03):
For You So jalen Travis From iowa state has been. A,
vibe like so it's a vibe for ME because i
hated HIM when i first, watched Him and i've slowly
come around to thinking like if you need an offensive
lineman who could potentially play left tackle for you AT the,
nfl level and you need to pick him after the
fourth like, in, fourth, fifth sixth seventh round kind. Of,
Selection right I'm Taking.
Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
Jalen travis so it's just you fighting off maybe a
confirmation bias that you first started with. With him you
said you're slowly coming around. To him is he less
of a vibe and more of vibe checking Logan.
Speaker 1 (01:01:34):
Post he's become a? Vibe now like just because so
this is, what, Happened right so GOT the All TWENTY
so i watched a highlight of HIM and i, was
like this guy's. TOO slow i. Can't move AND then
i WATCHED a all twenty TWO and i, was like.
He's big he's got a nice. Vertical kickset he uses
his length. So well he's got these big. Old hands
he's got thirty four and a half, inch arms he's.
(01:01:55):
Six seven he's one of the bigger GUYS that i
think he's the second biggest guy at. The, mine like
he's a. Huge man and then you watch his last
five games he, all had they're all blue past protection grades,
for HIM and, i, thought well can he run block
because usually those heavier guys can't run, block right and.
He does he's able to kind of cut off the,
(01:02:15):
Backside three he's able to pull and get. Into space
he's able to pull on like tackle traps. And STUFF
and i, was like why aren't more people talking about,
a big athletic dude with length that had a thirty
five inch vertical at the combine that ran a five
to One forty like he's, an athlete, he's big he's
a former, basketball player and in a draft that's starved
(01:02:36):
of offensive, line talent specifically, at tackle he feels like
a guy people should be talking about much much higher
than where he's being. Talked about so, to me the
vibe IS like i Feel like i'm standing on an island,
by myself, you know Touting What jalen travis. Could BE
but i if for especially before They the commander Traded For,
LAROMY tunsel i, was like if they don't to pick
(01:02:57):
someone in the, first round who else would? It be
he was definitely he definitely moved into that pantheon, of
PLAYER and i just don't understand why more people aren't talking.
About him so this is my kind of shot from
the soapbox Talk About. Jaalen travis then then. THAT'S one
i didn't realize this For Both Nam Jalen jalen Rivers.
FROM miami i was watching a Guy from syracuse last
NIGHT and i Was Watching jalen rivers and he had
(01:03:17):
A Rough. Senior bowl but watching him again last Night,
AT syracuse i watched more film, with HIM and i
just remembered HOW much i liked him on the. First
watch he IS an nfl ready, offensive guard like he
is going to come in day one make your offensive.
Line better, he's big, he's strong, he's athletic he, understands
angles he understands like he, understands leverages and you see
(01:03:37):
him when he punches people like the life LEAVES. Their
bodi he's got, strong hands he's got, strong position he's got.
Great BRACE so i DON'T think i talked about him
On The Old, line SHOW but i in terms, of
vibe like he IS an o, line, vibe, physical nasty
tough and just, gets it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:55):
GETS it i love that he's your last one because
that's you and an right what you love that nasty
physical AND here i am my last few guys ARE
because i like the, flash, vibes right.
Speaker 1 (01:04:09):
LIKE vibe i like.
Speaker 2 (01:04:11):
FLASHY things i like. Shiny things so here's. A Vibe
it's oregon's, Wide Receiver. Tesz. Johnson vibe here's. A vibe.
All Right so i'm going to start off with. The
Negative So, tank dell he gets compared to. A Lot
tank dell is, five eight one hundred and sixty. Five
pounds he ran a four four. Nine Okay tes johnson is,
(01:04:34):
five nine one, fifty, six small, ten, pounds smaller ran
a four or five. To, one okay you would expect being,
that small, that's skinny maybe run a little faster than
four or five.
Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
One.
Speaker 2 (01:04:47):
Maybe okay so that's. The negative everybody looks. At us,
he's small. He's tiny he's not super fast for being small.
Speaker 1 (01:04:54):
And.
Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
Tiny okay he's ninety ninth percentile and.
Speaker 1 (01:04:58):
Separation rate he also ran the fastest, three cone which would.
Support this at the combine.
Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
He had in twenty, twenty three he had eighty six
receptions and eighty two yards. Ten touchdowns last year eighty,
three receptions eight hundred and ninety, eight yards. TEN touchdowns
i don't care that. He's small he can play, FOOTBALL now, i,
MEAN obviously i care that, he's small, but like as
far as, a vibe the dude can.
Speaker 1 (01:05:24):
PLAY football i think he'll be the smallest receiver. Ever
drafted and you, know what.
Speaker 2 (01:05:28):
THAT'S fine i want to see HERE'S what. I want
i want to See The denver broncos draft him in
a later round to go play with His Brother. Bo
nixy and They Drafted troy franklin, last year, AND frankly
I Think tedes johnson is a better wide Receiver Than.
Troy franklin he's not built the, same right but he's
just there is Something About tesz johnson when he's on.
(01:05:51):
The field he, is small he. Is tiny he didn't
run a super, fast forty but he just gets defenders turned.
All around he is just dynamic on.
Speaker 1 (01:06:03):
The Field dynamics thomas and the one ON ones i
one HUNDRED pound I, love thomas but He Made ario
thomas look kind. Of silly So he's he's a very
talented player.
Speaker 2 (01:06:12):
FOR sure i mean he just stresses defenses AND it's
i can't put my finger on what it is about
him that is like that could translate because sometimes being
quick And like jukie and like all that's great until
you What did, tyson say like it's great to have
a plan until you get punched in, the, Face right
(01:06:34):
like and maybe he just gets hit by, a dude
and like, that's that but. Maybe not and he is
A vibe and if you're going to take a late
round flyer on, a guy why not a guy who
has been productive at a major program WITH an nfl quarterback.
Behind him and we're starting to see wide receivers get
(01:06:55):
smaller and faster, Now, anyway like let's take a chance
with this dude because he brings.
Speaker 1 (01:07:00):
Good, vibes yeah, the uh the film is excellent at
the separation rate. Is AWESOME but i think if you
took him with the, fourth rind he'd be pretty stoked
because he's gotta make your. Offense BETTER but i do
WORRY about i wonder if.
Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
He falls further, than that in, which case like, that's great.
Speaker 1 (01:07:14):
GREAT.
Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
Value, Roi. Yeah okay the Last guy i'm going to
talk about kind of, The opposite like definitely.
Speaker 1 (01:07:20):
The opposite what are you? Talking, about yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:07:22):
So this is another, wide receiver But. From stanford this
is ELIC.
Speaker 1 (01:07:26):
Aomn R yeah. A man i want to say IO.
Man R but i think it MIGHT be.
Speaker 2 (01:07:30):
I think it's a. Man or he's six two two
ten ran a four.
Speaker 1 (01:07:35):
Four, four yes.
Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
Pretty fast he's only twenty one. YEARS old i realized
he was. That young he's, pretty. Young right he was
a red shirt sophomore in this. Past year he's going
to be A true x at the, NEXT level. I
think and, all right here's one of THE things i loved.
About him run.
Speaker 1 (01:07:52):
Blocking dog he looks like a. Bodybuilder man he's a,
big guy.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
Wants to get in there like it's it's, almost, LIKE
hey i need to be good at running routes. HE
is i need to be good at my releases. HE
is i need to be good at catching. The ball
he's good. AT that i need to. Run block he
like prioritize it just as much as everything else at.
THE position i love that. About, him oh by, the
Way For, tes johnson he's also a, willing blocker, very
(01:08:18):
ineffective but he gets. IN there i love that. From,
him anyway Back. To elk so here's the thing that
stood out to ME that i love About air manor
and why he brings. The vibe Stanford played colorado in twenty. Twenty,
three okay in the first half to You Be ashton
daniels to air manor it was one target to him for. Zero,
(01:08:40):
Yards Okay travis hunter was covering Elec, Airmenor Now, travis
hunter is he your, number one number? Two, corner yeah
he's doing, over one number, one corner, All right so
number one corner he gets number. One corner stanford is
losing zero points to. Twenty nine, all right so you're throwing. The,
(01:09:00):
ball yep you Know the stanford throwing. The ball the
best corner in the draft, this year maybe one of
the best players in the draft. This year just. Full
Stop travis hunter is now. Covering you what do? You do,
thirteen receptions two hundred and ninety, four yards three touchdowns
for a forty six to forty three. Overtime win That's
(01:09:22):
With ashton daniels as. Your quarterback so my point being
IS that i think this guy can do it at the.
NEXT level i think he is. BEING undervalued i think
he is going to be an excellent. Wide receiver he
can do it in. Big moments he can do it
when the pressure. Is won he can do it against.
The best he can do it when maybe not the
best is throwing you. The ball he has a massive.
(01:09:44):
Catch radius his back's a. Little stiff he looks a.
LITTLE stiff i. Don't care he. Makes plays everything about
this guy is a VIBE that i want.
Speaker 1 (01:09:54):
You Pick tes Johnson And alec ayamaner because they both
have kind of like the. Opposite issues, you know one
is too but incredibly shifty and, great separator and then
a man or is big and he looked like he
couldn't look more LIKE an x, wide receiver but has
a hard time separating at the, highest level but really
good and get tested. Catch situations but they.
Speaker 2 (01:10:12):
Both produce they do they, do that and that's the vibe.
That's right at, some point all, these measurables all these
are your, little stiff you're a. Little this all of.
Speaker 1 (01:10:21):
That matters all of. It matters where Do you where
would you draft that? Some way is he a second
round player? For you or is he a third?
Speaker 2 (01:10:27):
Round player let me let me pull, YOU know i
haven't done a big, board YET but i Would like
ted McMillan off the top of, My Head. TRAVIS hunter
i think they're better. WIDE Receivers A MECCA buka i think. Is, safer,
Yeah Right, Uther Burden matthew golden are kind of there
an and then and then maybe right.
Speaker 1 (01:10:44):
In there oh, really.
Speaker 2 (01:10:45):
Yeah right, In There like i'm looking.
Speaker 1 (01:10:47):
At it so second he's the second round player. For, you.
Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
Yeah, Second ROUND but i think it's what you're. Looking
for like if if You See luther burden and, you're,
LIKE hey i want like a guy that could potentially
be the A true x And like i'm Nervous about burden's.
Injury History maybe i'm taking him higher. Than, there Yeah
maybe i'm taking them. Over.
Speaker 1 (01:11:06):
That, YEAH no i think he's an interesting prospect because
he feels like a third round kind of guy. Of
ME but i think he's a good. Football player and
if you get a guy who could be, you know
a rotational acts to start and rookie year and then
kind of develop and maybe into.
Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
Something MORE if i was a part of your, Guaranteed
ballers i'd put him. IN there i just he's done
it against, good competition he's, done it he's done it
in every, possible way and. He's young he's. Still, Young
Yeah so i'm.
Speaker 1 (01:11:30):
With, IT man i. Like him that's a. Good, list
man that's a fun that's a.
Speaker 2 (01:11:33):
Fun segment So our Top Five vibe guys ended up
