affairs what they can expect from this episode.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
With this episode, man, we got you and Fred. You know,
we got a little trivia section where we're gonna see
how how well y'all know this Washington and in Philadelphia. Righter,
I know it pretty good.
Speaker 4 (00:46):
Then we're gonna preview the Command, this final game of
the season.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
And later in the show we're gonna be sitting down
with our guy Newton Johnny.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Okay, it's time to get this show started.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
All right, fellas. Well, you know, man, like I said before,
Fred calls itself, mister Trivia, seems to know everything about anything.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Fred Trebeck.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Yeah, so you know know a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
I want to random random stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
I want to put you out to the test. Man, I'm
gonna see how well fred and and fletch you to man,
I think you're you're pretty smart human.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
You couldn't I wuld have gotten your hair back.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Yeah, let me see y'all. Will y'all know this trivia
we got man when it comes to.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
This Washington, he can't see the answer though.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Yeah, I ain't gonna aint gonna show. I don't need
to look over there. All right, Well, we're gonna leave
the thing on the first question. Okay, who leads the
overall series of Washington in Philadelphia? Philadelphia? Philadelphia? We got them?
Speaker 2 (01:49):
You know what?
Speaker 4 (01:50):
The crazy part about it got six six times. It's
the crazy part about it that's all be mentioned them.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
We ain't do nothing.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Actually, if you're probably doing our years, we're probably closer
to fifty to fifty because we got yeah, yeah, closer
to fifty fifty.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Because I won. I beat them a lot, you know
when I was so, I had worser games as a
team against the Giants. But the crazy thing about the Giants,
the years that they want the super Bowl, we beat
them all time. Split we at least split with it.
We at least split with yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
All right, so fle only reason I knew that because
going into the last game we played them, it's I
saw where we were ahead in the Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yeah, did this?
Speaker 1 (02:36):
He was part of our research.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Just what I'm saying, gave you all that.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Somebody gave it to me where I came from.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
All right, So fletch fletch one, fred zero, all right?
Question two? What year did the body bag Game take place?
The body bag game?
Speaker 2 (02:52):
They had to be hit him talking about this all
the time.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yeah, they didn't win the Super Bowl the year? Did they?
Speaker 5 (02:57):
No?
Speaker 3 (02:58):
So was it like, uh, ninety five?
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Okay, that's just what's what's being missed rookie year.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
He ain't gonna tell you that. Don't be telling him now.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
I don't know it.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
So it happened. I'm worrying nty five.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
I said ninety five, it was ninety three or ninety five.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
To me, I'm gonna go it wasn't ninety one. Maybe
it was ninety or maybe ninety I'm gonna go ninety four.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
So you said ninety what he said ninety four?
Speaker 1 (03:30):
I said ninety four. He said ninety five, ninety.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Five, ninety five. Okay, So since y'all both got it wrong,
I'm gonna go I'm gonna go the closest he beats
you by one and close. It was ninety nineteen ninety
be Mitch.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
On that teams on the team.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Be Miss came in the league in the eighty eighty nine,
eighty eight or eighty nine.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Yeah, we messed like a thousand years though.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
He was an eighties baby, because if you think about it,
Keenan mccardill was drafted in eighty nine.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
That's the only reason I know this as because Keenan
came in like eighty nine. He was a fifth round
draft pick here and be Mis just told me that
he was here on that team with Keenan. I knew that,
so I know they was in the eighties. So that's
how I just found this out. So I'm up to zero. Yeah,
you was closer.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
He was closer.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
So we'll give me. We'll give me the flet all right.
Next next question, so what team does Washington have most
wins against Philly?
Speaker 4 (04:28):
I know it ain't the Giants. We just don't beat them.
Gotta be Philly.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Y'all gotta tie. So that's three. It's just three three
oh still three o one three oh and one. Yeah,
y'all got a tie. We're gonna build it like that
three oh on one, all right. Next you gotta you
gotta catch up. Next question. Yeah, I don't think I don't.
I ain't looking too good for Fred fresh fresh for dminance.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
It happened. I woke up on the wrong side.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
All right, next question, so check it before when we
get so fast Land. You know that's one of my
favorite segments. I'm gonna ask you guys this. I'm sure
you both know or you should know who you think
what the most interceptions you are? Fred against Philly.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
I'm gonna give it.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
I'm gonna give it to him, Fred, So how many
you think that London has? How many pictures? Remember this
is the look I guess.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Well, see the one thing I can't picture in my
head is the years after me that Fletch played.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Yeah, now I know what happened in.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
The game, so so think about the games you played
with Fletch.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
You didn't get no pick against Philly? So, so how
many happened I retired?
Speaker 3 (05:37):
How many you think he had after you return?
Speaker 1 (05:39):
I was I was a cover corner and hasless I
say I was a cover. I was a cover corner.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
So to what you say you what you say Fred
had against Philly. I'm letting you guys pick you got
to all right? So Fred, since this is a bonus one,
this is a bonus. This is a bonus round. You
get to catch up if you if your answer right,
you catch it up.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
He said I got He said you got to.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
You said he got he got to?
Speaker 1 (06:07):
I got one?
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Fred one, you got to Fred got one?
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Yeah, no, that's not correct.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Yes it is. I got done of it.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
One time. It said, oh my bad, is you right?
Fletch has one? I got? So you're wrong.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
I be wrong by myself because that's why I'm trying
to get Fred Cornell. I worked about I don't have to.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
It's crazy when when I said that's wrong, I'm like,
Fesch know what the hell he did?
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Because I was trying to remember and I was like,
I remember, Fletch, this is the one time you could
beat Fletching something no picture mapped out in my head. Man,
I think he got one to stim I ain't not
like I wasn't sure about it.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Sneaky when it come to turnovers.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
By your state against Philly, you would like way trash well.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
First of all, MacNair never tried me. You may realized
he looked.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
At the left and said, nobody dealing with that animal.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
In yours. I gave up against Philly not much.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Cover too, against.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Cover.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
War was playing so much cover too.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
When they when they looked at when the camera went
over there you see with me holding up.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
One Mitch was putting that thing.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
We had credit.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
So we used to have to check. Philly used to
always get in the this condensed formation and the emotional no, no, no.
Remember they used to run the across high low shall
across y'all call it mess. We called it shallow high
low shall across them. So we would always check cover too,
because if you're a man, a man against that.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
We don't so like we always that is to bother them.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
And I don't know why. And this was what we
checked all the time, and they ran this probably I
don't know, ten times a day.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
I remember seeing Pickens all them cover.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
To the whole only when they was convinced.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Listen, if they had thirty passing plays, we're in cover
two a third of those.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Now we stop all the line line.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Listen, hell ain't got no address, that's how hell they
got no address? Stop all the line, you know, I
was out there one on one with fast Freddy Minchell God, Pinks, you.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
Bet you better not let Freddy put that dog on
belt on you that.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
You know what, I didn't help put the belt on me.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
All right, phel It's just time to move on, man,
It's time to get into this weekend's matchup. On this
editions of fast Lane, presented by Eastern Automotive Group, Any Car,
Anyway for everyone since nineteen eighty eight, Philly fighting for
the second seed in the NFC. Yes, and you know
the Bears have to lose and all so many things
(09:01):
have to go right for them to do that. Well,
not really, they don't. Yeah, all they gotta do is win,
and Bears loose big one.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
But they're not playing some guys.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
I heard that today, So my thing is, yea, they
So I'm glad you said that because I was going
to ask you, how how does this game impact all
that stuff that they fight for? As far as do
you think it's going to have a big impact in
how they play they guys, or do you feel like, hey,
you know they're gonna go out and say, look, man,
were in there regardless.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
Yeah, yeah, I'm shocked that they wouldn't play Jalen Hurts,
considering he coming out for half that he can complete
the pans. Like I thought they'd just say, you know what,
at least start the first quarter, get their taste out
your mouth, complete a couple of pants, we'll take you out.
But maybe they just looking at it as all right,
we in the we in the tournament. Let's let's go
in there with everybody healthy, and let's try to go
win some games. But I am very shocked that they're
(09:49):
not going to play some of their starters in this game,
considering how they finished last year. So you've you already
heard the news that I heard the news that they're
not going to start a couple of guys.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
It's crazy because this last night I was doing other
show and I was asked a question. I'm like, look,
I wouldn't think they'll do it like a preseason, like, hey,
let me get a couple of reps, so you know
what I was saying, keep your blood flowing, you know
what I mean, get you know, touch the grass, you know,
and some live action. Then we'll sit out there and
have some Sunflower season watch.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Just to smooth point. Uh, there's a dude with the
Philadelphia inquirer Jeff McClain. He's saying, reports out that the
team is expected to rest Hurts and most other starters.
See they don't, they don't do they punk through that
rock and put their hands behind their back.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
That two points you already knew total again, So so
so the question that's crazy. So how how we how
how do you see us approach this game? I mean,
I honest said, We're gonna jump on the second screen.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
We're gonna jump on whoever there you go get your
big brother.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
That what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
I look at it like this, though, our approach shouldn't
change of who's on that field for the Philadelphia ego.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Because I know they still want to whip out behind regardless,
and that's.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
We're gonna play our starters. I think for the most
part now, I'm assuming that that's what d Q is
gonna do, unless there's some guys that can't play. But
we gotta go in there. You want to we want
to win that football game game for Philly. When I
look at it on there from their end, you got
a situation where if you get that number two seed,
(11:27):
you host two games, two home, two playoff games instead
of going on the road.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Like disrespect because you heard Sirianni say we want the
number two seeds the weekend now, and now you're sitting
your guys. That's all the fight, and that's like, we
can beat.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
You all without we can beat you without sexonth Screde and.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
The way his offense is playing. But he's is he
looking at it like, all right, we got a defense.
We got a team. Regardless of where we go, we travel, travel,
We'll see how it plays.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
If you feel that offensively, I need to rest some
of these guys, but I think we're built the right way. Defensively.
We can still win this game if that defense go
out there and do what they do. Well, let's be honest.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
He's looking at our team saying, all right, they got
a third screen staring quarterback in there.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
They're rationing out plays to Terry. He's not playing the
whole game, all right.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
So basically it's gonna be second team versus second team
almost if you really look at it for what it is. Now,
we're gonna play some of our starters, but we got
so many injuries that our sixonth screen has became our start. Yeah,
so he looking at it lest I don't want to
limp into the playoffs. I don't want to go into
the playoff here.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
I want to get healthy.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
Yeah, And I think that's what it's about. I want
to be healthy.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
And I think he's looking at it because let's be honest,
this year has been a change of the guard, like
the old guard is not showing they.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
Face in the playoffs. He going to saying, my guy's
been here, done it.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
They've been there. Yeah, So I rather bank on them
being healthy. And I don't want to see these dude
might hurt my guys, because that's what we're not gonna
try to hurt. You were don't play physical, no bingo,
we're gonna be hurt.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
But think about this, how many games like we playing
some physical, physical NFC East battles, and how sore you
are the next next week, you know, going into that
next game. So all right, let's let's put my guys
use this as a kind of a five week Yeah,
let let the Bears and the Lions do whatever happens
(13:34):
in that game. Happens happens. But I'd rather have a
fresh team, and.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
I think that's what he wants to so so, because
my next question was gonna be asked about. You know,
how do Terry find success against these guys. We know
Terry finds his way of showing up Queen him and
Queen going yeah, but I feel too. Remember I remember
when slave was over there and Terry always got him.
He had So with this being said, do you do
you bel leave he arrests any of his collings because
(14:02):
I think, Queen you Mitchell will not play in this game.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
If Queen you Mitchell don't play in this game, I'm
throwing the Terry so much that I'm gonna make you
put all day. I'm just gonna keep dishing to him
because if you you're gonna disrespect me enough to not
even play your guys, you're telling me you don't care
about winning. So if you don't care about winning, we're
gonna beat you, and we're gonna try to beat you bad.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
You talk about Terry against the egos in the In
a lot of those years, man, there was a concerted
effort to get him the football. I can remember the
game we went there Monday night a couple of years ago.
Was that robs No, that wasn't ros here.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
That it was run.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
We beat him on the beam on the Monday.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Now that's when they undefeated, right, they was undefeated leading
him to that point, right, I think.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Yeah, can we just beat Pittsburgh Before that, they kept on,
they kept hitting Terry with them slam.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
I mean, they like they force fed him.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
How was the quarterback?
Speaker 3 (14:59):
Yeah? Was it? No? I think it was Heinekey. I
think it was Heineken when they beat when they beat them,
when they was undefeated, it was Hanekee.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
It was okay, yeah, it so but again they effort conturn,
the effort to get him that football.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
Well, my thing is and just I mean this kind
of like just put a damper in this whole rundown
when it comes to talking about this game, because you're like,
you just broke some news that I didn't know, and I'm.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Like, look, I'm coming away.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
I looked down on my phone and I'm saying to
myself like because I'm like, like I said last night,
I say, look, bro, I know we got it. We're
gonna finish the game strong. We want we want to
finish the season strong. So whoever it is, you know,
we already know Josh Johnson's gonna probably be the you know,
be the quarterback, and every guy is going to go
out there and say, look, man, I want to go
into twenty twenty six with a good taste in my mouth.
(15:49):
You know what I mean about my season? Rather and
that was what that was kind of my approach, even
when I had those what you can call crappy years
when it comes to numbers, Yeah, I didn't care as
long as that last game. I want to finish season
with with with with some good film. It always gave
me that that that notion, all right. I showed them
what it could be like if they give me the rock.
(16:10):
More So, who.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
You end up? Player? You played ten years?
Speaker 3 (16:14):
How many years?
Speaker 1 (16:16):
So nine of your years were crappy years.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
This dude, I'm gonna tell you what.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
You want to finish the year?
Speaker 3 (16:29):
Scroll right? You do it?
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Every year your season was crawling up.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
One come to the Hudders one, two, three, can't come?
He already he already got one foot at the door.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Because I know a super Bowl team what I see
one because I fed on just say this, so I
know super Bowl defense with super Bowl corners.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
And you ain't you know you know you know this
for a fact. You never worried when you saw me
out there. You just chill, you understood the job we're
gonna get.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
I'm still bad at you about that. Left with that
Monday night football heard Tanner.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
You don't know he spoke, he spoke, he spoke the
wrong thing.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
Crazy thing.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Yeah, So Dick Leva wrote a book called Legendary. Dick
bow was a defensive cording one of the best they
ever do it. No, the best, yeah, not one of
the best. I had him in Buffalo, the best.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
speG Your people say, spags the bast.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
The best, hands down, it ain't even call.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
I'm agreed him in Buffalo. Oh so, I mean I
would to give him a couple of years then what
you had him in Buffalo two thousand. I was definite
from two thousand and one, two.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Thousand and three. Yes, I want to get y'all right,
defense in that league, y'all nobody drop against.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
I used to give Buffalo a little crazy you know,
I played on number top five defense.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
So so get back to my point. So Le Bowl
wrote a book on that two thousand and eight Steelers
defense called Legendary. When you look at the numbers that
these guys put up, they were number one and every
major statistical category defense and maybe number two in like
one or two, I mean points, yards gets, the rush
(18:13):
gets like everything. And he talks about each game and
they bring up the game Monday night against UH, and we.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Started to color rush. They game.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Looking like Barney.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
We was out there.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
We talked about how we jumped off, we had a
t on side kick to start the game. We recovered that.
I think they defense held us to three UH. I
think we got a sack of fun. We had a
turnover early in that game, held us to another three.
He was talking about this defense and he talked about
being getting hurt at halftime and left Wich coming there
(18:52):
lighting us up, and all I think about when left
Wich came they Fred.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Like, I think that was hurting me. He's like, all right,
we don't see my boy.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
He went out there checked with me. You know how
how the quarterback up to the line of scrimmage and
you gotta run play like you're gonna check based on
the on the formation. Well they had it as a
check with me on the on the corner that they're
gonna attack based on where Fred lined up.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
He looked up that twenty seven. He want saying I
gotta dunk.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
Now that I think about it, I think Willie Parker
got him in space a couple of times on a
couple of screams.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Please a couple you know they running in the back.
I think Willy gave.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
You you know, you know when you have your quarterback
and Mark Brewdal would.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
Do it, give you that look.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
We got one, that's what not with just got duck,
we got dunk sauce over it.
Speaker 1 (19:59):
Let's let's get this no no man.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
So speaking of you know, since we done heard about
some of these guys or not participating that, maybe give
coach say, hey, you know what, I want to see
some of my young talent. Why not who are some
of the young guys that maybe we've seen this year
or we would like to see that that you want
to see going into twenty six to have more opportunity.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
Jordan McGee, I want to see them swap paint sideline
the sideline. Johnny Newton, maybe you ain't a rotational guy.
Maybe he wanted them guys. I need to be in
most of the snaps for me to get my groove going.
Some guys don't like to be rotated with.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Johnny get finished finishing of the guys. You want to
see that. I'm gonna touch on Johnny and Traylon Burks.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
I just want him to have more chance.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
I want to see him because I think it's something there,
Like I liked him coming out of college, and sometime
your first stop ain't your best. And I think the
injuries there he had asthma problem. We loved on him
when he got here, and sometime when you love on
the playoffs, you can get the best out of what
you got.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Flich speaking of Trey Burkes, So Tanner, you probably don't,
I know you be studying these guys. There was a
couple in his past game and also the game against
the Egos. Well, I'm looking at he got some burst
to me got him bro, he got some birth.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
He had some bursts, so he can't go off in
the middle of that field and snacked that one I
had it had.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Me go look, I'm like, damn, what was this forty time?
And it said four y five five, But it was like,
he looks faster than that, and I don't know because
he loves weight, So yeah, it could be that too,
because I'm looking at him, like, man, he looks like
he's an explosive, like he can get vertical as far
as Jordans. Yeah, that ability to get sidelined the sideline
(21:41):
on his speed jumps off the street.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
I'm glad y'all brought him up. I'm going to ask
you this question. I know you because it's best to
ask a guy like yourself. Do you see him in
the future being more of a middle linebacker?
Speaker 1 (21:54):
Middle or or Will or Will Will? Yeah, either either one.
The reason with Will, you don't A lot of times
you can really go You're not a lot of times
it's harder for them to block you as a wielbacker.
(22:15):
But I will say this, they can run away from
you too. But I'm in the middle be cause I
played Will in college. But once I got to the pros,
I put that put me in the middle. You can't.
You can't get away from me. Play go right, play
go left. I'm at Will. Know it might at Will
sometimes because you might have to back. Yeah, you might
(22:38):
have to you might have to step back, play the
cut back or whatever backside gap. But when you at
that mic backer, especially players that are outside, like the
toss plays or the jet sweep that he made on
the tackle, it's easier to get it from that inside
position left man almost.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Because I asked that question just knowing that you know,
we don't know how many years Bobby got on them
them times.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
You know how much depends on his communication skills, the
green dot part of it, like can you communicate to
the other ten what they need to do and can
you go into the mode that will Fletch were very
good at chicking, Like when when the first play ain't
finna work, then the motion that back got their backfield.
We need to communicate this check is he gonna be
able to do that. There's a lot of responsibilities. You
(23:20):
gotta turn around, do all the communication. Then you got
to turn around and get set to.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
Play some football.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Can carry out your job and.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
This stops a lot of dudes from being able to
play middle linebacker.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
I will say this, Yeah, he's definitely I think they do.
They have him played metal when Bobby doesn't practice, so
they're grooming to him to be able to do that
at some point. It's it's it's especially difficult for a
young guy. This is his second year, so he probably
starting to slow down better than he wants.
Speaker 5 (23:47):
The middle guy.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
I ain't gonna cut you off, flesh. I want to
see the young guy like on special teams. He's the
first dude down that times on that kickoff or on
that punt, especially punt team, when we punt the ball,
he laying that boom.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
And that's because his athletic profile jump top the screen.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
Being being a former the best one he can I think,
one of the best. I mean one of the most
things we talked about when him coming in the draft
is about him tackling Imber. I remember Logan talking about tackling.
He needs to get better, to get better at it.
So I would love to see him get a shot.
You know, is he more of a sam because he's.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
A he's a bigger guy. You might want to play
him more as a soundbacker? Uh, just because of his coverage.
Have him covered tight ends and him at the sound
good noe. Going back to Johnny Newton, Newton this off season,
like last year, coming in this season, he got he
(24:47):
put on some way. Yeah next year this the off season.
Would love to see him add more weight to to
be able to honk her down double to the double teams.
He's never going to be a three hundred and thirty pounds.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
I don't like, but this to his advantage, that low
center of Grammy except I think all the undersized.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
But I don't think Sad was ever taking on no
double team beating.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
He was beating him because he had he was he was,
he was he had a quickness him and which that's
the same thing with I believe what six three though,
So what Johnny gets stronger, put on you know, maybe
ten ten more pounds away and that'll help him with
the double teams and just he's This year was probably
(25:38):
the first year he was actually able to train. Yeah,
last year he was rehabited because off season he had this.
This off season he was able to train. Now we
got another one coming up, trained even more work on
this get off, work on this double team, and you
will continue to see the maturation and see him evolved
as a as every down player.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Yeah, you know this draft, you know, there's so many
guys that we're talking about going forward because one of
the things people want to see every draft have a
couple of studs, you know, whether it's quarterbacks, whether it's
running backs, receivers. You know, defense is always talking about
someone someone has a d n someone has a linebacker
or a corner. You know, defense, to me now has
(26:18):
been one of the most talked about you know, you
know commodities. When it comes to you know, teams grabbing
because you see what Philly has done in the last
two or three years. They loaded up on defense and
it's paying dividends for these guys. We got lucky, and
I don't know if you say lucky, but I believe
a guy like Bill fell into our lap in seventh round.
You really get it, you really get a talent.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Stood.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
With that being said, we feel like, yes, we got
something there. And I also feel like we got something there.
When it comes to c Rod, do you take a
chance if it's a running back, a higher draft pick,
a higher talent, a better talent, do you take a chance.
We're going out there and reaching for one that you
have those two guys.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
I've reached for a tight end in because I think
you need youth in that room and I just need
an athlete. I need a free I don't know if
y'all seen the tight end from August Sadik.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
He is unbelievable. So when you go out there and
reach for him up I round second round.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
Well I would if I'm going to Sadik and I'm
making my mind up in the first round, I'm trading
down to get him, because I could trade down get
another draft pick in the second round. I could take
him in the first if I wanted to. But he's
a straight athlete. But I'm gonna get an athlete somewhere
like that, and uh, somebody that could change the game.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
I want a mixed match problem and this.
Speaker 4 (27:36):
And if I got a running back already, then I
already got my running back backups. I need to go
to another position and feel that room up. Yeah, and
I can get a veteran to add to that room
with Bill and c Rob.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
I wanted to getting me a young thoroughbread off that
edge defensive end.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Hey, what's old boy from Ohio State? Reese?
Speaker 3 (27:58):
We got? We got Miami got two of them to stud.
I don't see when I look at Bain and this
is just my critique on him. When I look at him,
want rush. I'm wondering, do he power Douglas? Do he
move into the I'm wondering with his body type, does
he paying down and stay outside?
Speaker 1 (28:13):
He just to be a bigger guy, more like Brandon Ground.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Yeah, he's gonna be more tight a guy power power.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
He's gonna be just Jeff Vers have long arms. Yes, okay,
so yes.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
So who's a Who's a guy that you kind of
say he fits his his his body type when it
comes to just his.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
No, Hugh Douglas and what we're talking about body type
period like.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
Little power, power, bull rushing.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
Low center, gravity, turned the corner.
Speaker 3 (28:46):

Welcome back to the Players Club as promised we got
Johnny Newton joined us that we appreciated my fethers.
Speaker 5 (29:45):
Man, I appreciate you all for having me out your.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
Especially coming out off of the biggest game you had
in your NFL career. How did it feel to put
it on the track, Like sometime when you have that
game right and you in your bag.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Everything just seems easy.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
Take us through the game, take us through those three
Sex and Nine towns, because he ain't never had.
Speaker 5 (30:13):
Felt it felt like college again. You know when when
somebody hot, keep them going, keep them going. And that's
why coach there, uh we know, we all know Pain
was out that game. So they knocked on my door
and I answered, I like that.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
For you, just in that moment after you got that
first one, Like okay, was it after that second where
you like, I'm about to have a day and it
was only the sacks get highlighted, but five hits on
the quarterback. You just like, man, I'm in my bag today.
Speaker 5 (30:49):
Man. After the first one, like the next drive I
had a missed one. I was like, oh yeah, that's
old for them boys. I needed to get that one back.
And later on in a drive, that's when I had
my second one. So you know, like I said, whenever
you hot, like y'all know, it is key rolling, like
I don't know the man upstairs, just just working serious.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
It's one of them things too, because you know, we
never got a chance. I'm not sure if y'all guys
played on Christmas. I played on Christmas Eve and had
one of my best games in my career. And to
just to see you in that moment, and like you said,
it was almost being like you on Super Mario Brothers.
You got that dog on fly it's a wrap. What
(31:30):
was going through your head? Like far as after the
first one, Cause to me when you got a hold
of Deck, I'm like you had you had them about
one hand, you know, and swung around. I'm like, well,
damn Deck, you went down a little too easy on
that one. What was going through your head? Like, oh,
they do messed up. I'm finna, I'm gonna have my way.
Speaker 5 (31:46):
To turn it on for sure. I'm small, but I'm mighty.
I'm probably one of the strong people on this team.
So you know, I tell you proud of my strength.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
Thing.
Speaker 5 (31:53):
I ain't gonna lie. I thought that was going to
throw that thing said my Christmas Marytle in Floridable.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Let me ask you this. So last year you get
drafted second round, had to had to full surgeries before
you had to get right. You're rehabbing last off season.
This off season you got a chance to actually train.
The difference between going into last season and this season,
(32:23):
how was it for you just having the ability to
train come into this year?
Speaker 5 (32:28):
It was not and day. You know, I've trained down
in Tampa with my guy, Yo Murphy.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
Uh we know, we know, Yo Murphy, you up to No,
he didn't.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
I choked him to death. You know.
Speaker 5 (32:41):
My training was during camp, Like that's when I finally
started by getting in the grooves and I'm playing catch
up in I mean, once I got healthy, I just
started playing. So it's this year and I had getting
in my full groove, feeling like me again, you know,
fully healthy. So it was not and day for me.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
As as as you come to the end of the season,
got the final game coming up against the Egos, have
you already thought like, hey, this offseason, these are the
things I really want to attack even more to to
truly take my game to the.
Speaker 5 (33:13):
Sure. Like I said, this is the last game, So
I already started game planning what I want to do
who I want to be as a player next year
and what I know I can be as a player.
So just consistent, get off low pad level, working my hands,
being stout in the rank game.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
My my question is nothing about football. It's we're from Florida,
so I know how we like.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
To wear hair.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
What led to the cutoff the dress.
Speaker 5 (33:40):
And I was like, no, no, na, I'm finn. I'm yeah.
I wanted to start fresh. And then I was like, man,
you know I'm a swimmer, so I went wavy on
the boy for a little bit. And then I was like, man,
that ain't me. I'm fin the Gurden boys right back now.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
Because I was. I would because you know, growing up,
I remember especially doing football season. That was our thing
down there, like especially in Miami. Miami, we're gonna have
the froze and the nappy dreads, especially during the season
because you want that cushion on your head when the helmet.
You don't want to be rough. So when I saw
you cut him like and then e j Is always
say that was his strength. When I got the um, like, man,
I can't cut my scrim y'all. And I remember cutting mine.
(34:21):
We had to as freshmen and I immediately grew that thing.
But yeah, and it just feels different. So when I
saw you cut, I was like maybe saying I don't
need them, but I need them for sure.
Speaker 5 (34:31):
You know I be I be talking to Rohan, so
you know I'm close with all on wet boys down. Yeah, yeah,
I need them for sure. I just wanted to go professional, y'all.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
The SPADs down to just blank out and went straight
floor the black time like me and London sitting here.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
Like you know, you know we can't have no conversations.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
Well I know you can't.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
Just get him.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Everything.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
Because you said you like swimming.
Speaker 4 (35:09):
That's one of my favorite ways to work out. What
made you fall in love with swimming?
Speaker 5 (35:13):
People don't know that's like great conditioning, that's like food work,
body work, card and it's just fine. Like I'm from Florida,
hotter than four foxes in the fire. Yeah, but I
do meet a.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Lot of dudes from Florida. They can't swim.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
What's up with that?
Speaker 5 (35:28):
They can stand over?
Speaker 2 (35:31):
That's about it.
Speaker 5 (35:33):
Yeah, we really I feel like real Floridians don't even
be going to the beach beach. Yeah, but whenever we
can get a full.
Speaker 4 (35:40):
But I always figured that's how y'all got this speed
because y'all went to the beach and played. And they're saying,
not knowing you running and you're working out, and they're saying,
that's why I thought y'all got that that elite speed.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
From where we had. I mean, don't get me wrong.
And this is this is for him to answer too.
I knew where we would work out in the saying,
but we weren't talking about the water. We have our
own staning pits, all right, all right, Like that's what
we did in Miami specifically, Like our coaches like, look,
we're gonna do every drill in the same Yeah, your
receiver running all your routes, you you'r dB, your backpell,
(36:13):
you're doing all that stuff. So by the time you
touched the land, boy you.
Speaker 5 (36:17):
Yeah, you know. Yeah, every Saturday growing up, we do
still to this day. I just went back home this
past weekend. Every Saturday we do beach workouds uh. And
then they finally bought a little sampitt to my high school.
So yeah, my trainer bat that ride, Rod Williams. That's right.
He trained everybody that went to the NFL from Saint Pete. Yeah,
he don't trained all of them.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
What's that that D line room? Like? Man, you'all got
you got some veteran guys. You young young guy like yourself,
what's that? What's that D line room?
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Like?
Speaker 5 (36:47):
Man, Man, that's fine. Shout out to my boy Ricky,
my boy one for one first game first sat Yeah,
h by Ricky sacking, then my three. But it's cool though.
It's a lot of a lot of wisdom, a lot
of knowledge in now. Like I said, that's a that's
a lot of as ten year, eleven year, Vaughn year twenty. Yeah, man,
(37:09):
just to knowledge those guys.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
Who's the talk out of that group? Because pain don't
say really much of anything. I don't know when it
comes to Ken Law is he's the talker? Like who
would be the talker in the room? Because when my
dB room we was lit, it was a different type
feeling in my dB room. We didn't listen to London,
but we would lick. So at the end of the day,
who's the talker in.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
The defensive line room?
Speaker 5 (37:31):
Me?
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Yeah, talking I was talking about Yeah.
Speaker 5 (37:35):
But when we got on that field, though, them boys,
them boys go talk show. Yeah, just on a normal
day to day basis, all them boys cool calm collector.
Y'll be saying Ken Law with the Shades one just
twenty four seven. Yeah, cool calm collected. But when they
get on that field, we're going talk to that talk
for sure.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Yeah that's up man. Well, one of the things I
wanted to say, man, you know, I'm happy that you
you was able to have a kind of game you
have game week man, because that's one of those things,
especially when you see a guy like y'all have a
rotation going on, it's hard and get in getting that groove.
So to see you go out there and put that
on tape. We always talk. We always had that sin
the Iron, the Scott on line. Yeah, and you put
(38:13):
stuff tape, you know what I mean. You want to
consistently do that going forward. I know that's that's your
game plan. So being that we have this last game,
being that we played these guys already, they already said
a lot of their starters ain't gonna play. Yeah, So
what whoever out there, don't get pretty sure. I'm pretty
sure you're ready to get you at least two or three.
Speaker 5 (38:32):
Mores Baptist by five, I know. Yeah, whenever I go that.
I want to be the most dominant player on the field,
dominant player in the NFL. That's my goal. Uh So, man, man.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
Playing whoever.
Speaker 5 (38:57):
That's already and.
Speaker 4 (38:58):
I think they heard what coach said, you play them
in two weeks. That's what he said, you know, because
we don't forget about that too, pumpkin version. But you
don't never get about that two conversion. I would have
been out there fighting with y'all. You know, we would
have been sitting there watching us, him.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
Watching I get a.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
Close up with.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
Stopping man. We're going to.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
You've been on the show before.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
You know.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
We have all our guests side our football.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
Man.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
We appreciate you joining us. Man, appreciate your side of
that football.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
Not know you was a lifty come on like blue foot.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
All right, man, We're looking forward to seeing you against
the Eagles and also see you next season. Do your
thing to do it for this episode of The Players Club,
we'll see you next week.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
The Players Club was filmed at Big Bear AI Command
