Speaker 1 (00:07):
Welcome to the
Communication 24-7 podcast,
where we communicate about howwe communicate.
I'm your host, jennifer Furlong.
We did it.
(00:30):
We made it to the end of seasonthree.
If I'm making it sound like itwas a challenge, yeah, it was.
2023 was not kind to me and itjust about broke me for real.
I mean, there were all kinds ofthings that happened.
I got divorced, I moved, I wasmentioned in some pretty awful
(00:54):
hyperpartisan leaning media, mymom died, two of my dogs died,
the company I worked for andloved downsized and my position,
unfortunately, was one of thecasualties.
Yeah, that was 2023.
It was hellacious, and all thatchaos made working on the
(01:18):
podcast almost impossible.
Yeah, getting through seasonthree was pretty challenging for
me.
Regardless, we muscled our waythrough it.
It was a pretty shitty year, but that's okay.
We put together a pretty goodlineup of experts for you and
you hung in there Despite thechaos, despite the
(01:41):
inconsistencies.
You know consistency is soimportant in podcasting and I
think I let some of y'all downwith not being as consistent as
I would like to have been, butregardless of that, you stuck
with me.
We managed to explore a lot offantastic, interesting topics in
(02:02):
communication, like digitalmedia, etiquette, character
development, parent and teencommunication.
We talked about team buildingand how to manage our emotions
more effectively.
We talked about networking andinterviewing and strategic
communications.
We even talked about burnoutprevention.
There were a whole host offantastic topics that we got
(02:24):
through, despite it beinginconsistent and despite it
being challenging.
I'm so lucky in that I had anamazing list of guests and I
want to thank them once more forbringing something meaningful
to you all.
And, as promised, I did manageto sprinkle in some solo casts.
I tried to focus on the brasstacks of improving your
(02:47):
communication skills the do'sand don'ts, the what you should
do and what you should not do incertain situations, but I did
not do as many of those solocasts as I had originally hoped
to do at the start of seasonthree.
This is going to be anotherimprovement.
I promise you I will continueto work on for this next season.
(03:08):
At the start of the season, Idid share with you that I
decided to talk about some ofthe lessons that I learned in a
special mini series that I'mgoing to call Untieing the Not A
Journey of Divorce inCommunication.
I had every intention ofreleasing this mini series at
the end of season three.
(03:29):
Life, on the other hand, and2023, on the other hand, had
other plans for me.
Unfortunately, the mini serieswas yet another casualty of the
awful year that was 2023.
So many of you, though, indicated an interest in this
topic because, unfortunately, and I'm sad to say, you are
(03:52):
going through something similara horrible breakup, a
relationship that has been along term relationship for many
of you I'm talking 15, 20, 25years.
I met some people who ended upgetting divorced after 30 plus
years of marriage.
So many of us are out there, soI know that this is a need.
(04:14):
This is something that I thinkwe can give one another comfort
in, so I do want you to knowthat I have not given up on it.
It is coming.
It's just taking a bit longerthan initially anticipated.
So hold your horses.
I promise you that many seriescalled Untieing the Knot a
journey of divorce andcommunication.
(04:36):
It is on its way.
Season three, needless to say,was an emotional journey in more
ways than one.
Life sure is full of highs andlows, and I know that we all
experience those highs and lows, but one thing is for sure that
I truly feel that I am blessedbecause, look, I am still here,
(04:58):
I'm still breathing, and 2024 isreally looking up for me, and,
for the first time in a reallylong time, I'm excited for the
future.
I want to thank you for goingon this ride with me, and next
season I do have some plans toshake things up a bit, so I hope
you hold on.
(05:19):
What is next for theCommunication 24-7 podcast?
I want you to get ready, because we have an impressive
lineup of communication experts.
I'm also going to shift ourfocus, however, so I want you,
if you're curious about that, make sure that you check out the
season four preview so that youcan hear more about what is in
(05:41):
store for the Communication 24-7podcast.
Also, because we are wrappingup season three, I want to share
with you some good news aboutthe podcast itself and how,
despite the fact that it waschaotic, it was inconsistent and
I did not provide all thethings that I promised to you I
kind of fell short in many ways.
Despite all of that, thepodcast continues to grow and
(06:06):
I'm so thankful for that.
So, as long as you're going tokeep listening, I'm going to
keep producing, and you knowwhat, even if it comes down to,
there's just one of y'all whocan stand to listen to my voice
anymore.
You know what I'll take it.
I'm perfectly happy with that.
So the achievements I am soexcited to share with you how
(06:30):
the Communication 24-7 podcasthas grown over this past season.
When I look at where youlisteners are hailing from all
over the world, I am just blownaway.
Now, of course, the vastmajority of my audience is still
in North America.
About 81% of y'all are in NorthAmerica.
(06:54):
That's pretty wild, though, because that means that I mean
not quite 20%, okay, 19%, but19% of y'all are listening from
all over the world.
I've got about 8% of y'all arelistening to me from Asia.
About 6% of y'all are listeningto me from Europe, and then I
(07:15):
have a sprinkling of listenersfrom Australia, and some through
Africa, and also some throughSouth America.
That's pretty amazing to me.
So, those of you who arelistening from all over the
world, I truly appreciate youbeing here.
Now, as far as the individualcountries, I'm pretty amazed.
The top five countries, ofcourse, the US, united States
(07:37):
this is where I'm based, sothat's gonna come in at number
one.
I'm really surprised at my topfive, though.
India is number two, canada isnumber three, germany is number
four.
And then Australia is numberfive in terms of my top five
countries that are listening tothe Communication 24-7 podcast.
(07:59):
I think that is completely wild.
Even further, if I look at thecities, there are about 2,300
cities in total that theCommunication 24-7 podcast is
being listening in or beinglistened to in.
Number one, of course, is thetown that I live in, richmond
Hill, georgia.
So thank you, friends andfamily, and all of my loved ones
(08:20):
who are supporting me in this.
Thank you for being number one.
And then the rest of the topfive.
I've got San Diego, california, followed by Seattle, washington
, followed by Houston, texas, and then number five is Orlando,
florida.
So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you to all of you in
those cities that have listenedenough to where you were able to
(08:43):
push your city into the topfive.
I think that is completelyamazing.
I am so appreciative of youhanging out with me and just
kind of, you know, listening tome drone on about communication
stuff.
I hope you will continue tolisten to me drone on about all
(09:04):
of this communication stuff.
Now, as far as the most popularepisodes, number one was the
power of community.
This is going to be episode 55,overcoming challenges and
thriving, and that was with BabsFaCeCen, and that was back in
May.
So thanks, babs, for creatingsuch an amazing episode that's
(09:29):
followed up with my own episode.
This was one of the solo caststhat I did in response.
Remember, earlier I mentionedthat I had some pretty awful
hyperpartisan leaning media thatwere saying some things about
me and the company that I workedfor, so I made a response.
It was episode 73, called no, Iam not a super secret analyst
spy set to crush conservativemedia.
(09:49):
That came in at number two, sothat must have struck a chord
with many of you.
Now, look, y'all know I'mconservative.
If you listen to me long enough, you know that I'm conservative
.
But I also try to strive tohave as open of a mind as
possible.
I fall short in many ways, butI do enjoy having conversations
with people from across thepolitical spectrum and if, being
(10:14):
open minded and wanting to heardifferent perspectives and
being open to differentperspectives and points of view,
I can do that without myconservative viewpoints being
changed, I'm very confident inmy beliefs, in my conservative
beliefs, and so if some of youwho are further to the right
(10:37):
than I am, if that makes youuncomfortable.
That's a you problem and not ame problem, because I'm
comfortable, I'm confident.
So that was episode 73.
If you're curious about that, check it out.
Number three episode of seasonthree was revolutionize your
networking game with RobbieSamuels.
Robbie, thank you so much forthat valuable advice in
(10:59):
networking.
If you have not had a chance tocheck that episode out, watch
it or listen to it Again.
I am on YouTube, so if youwanna watch it, please feel free
to do that as well.
Episode four the most popularone in season three was unlock
your visual thinking superpower, enhancing connection with David
Winkleman.
So, david, thank you forcreating such an amazing episode
(11:22):
.
And then the last one I'm gonnahighlight would be episode 70.
That was also an incrediblypopular one with Josh Porthouse.
Maybe you need to reconsideryour approach.
I just love having myconversations with Josh.
I've been on his podcast, he'sbeen on my podcast a couple of
times and we always tend to havea fantastic conversation about
(11:46):
values and how we express thosevalues through our everyday
communication and our actions, and how important it is to be
able to understand what yourcore values are and how do you
align your everyday actions withthose core values.
So if you're interested inhearing more about that.
Make sure that you check outepisode 70 with Josh Porthouse.
(12:07):
So those are just a few of thestats I wanted to share with you
as I'm wrapping up season three.
This is the last thing Ipromise.
I want you to know just howmuch I appreciate you spending
some of your time with me,whether you are riding in the
car, you're doing some chores,or maybe you have me on in the
background, you're listeningwhile you're at work.
(12:28):
Hey, I'm cool with that.
I'm just happy that you choseto spend some of your time with
me.
That is very special to me and, from the bottom of my heart, I
just want to say thank you.
All right, that's it.
