Have you ever found yourself paralyzed by the fear of taking that initial leap towards your goals? In our latest episode, we face this universal challenge head-on, providing not only insight but also practical steps to conquer procrastination and harness the courage to begin. As we approach the year's end, a time famously riddled with reflections and resolutions, we cast a spotlight on the essence of action—why starting with whatever you have, right where you are, isn't just advisable, it's imperative.

This isn't just another pep talk; we're diving into the depths of our spiritual well-being and its profound impact on every facet of our lives. From personal stories that resonate with the struggle to keep the faith to scriptural wisdom that guides us back on track, we delve into the transformative power of aligning our first moments each day with God's word. And if you're feeling the call to recharge your spiritual batteries, join us as we map out a season of fasting and an enriching spiritual life conference to kick off the new year with intention and divine connectivity.

Wrapping up, we draw inspiration from familiar biblical figures like Moses, Peter, and John, reflecting on how they utilized what was in their hands to fulfill extraordinary purposes. By examining these narratives, we uncover the strength that resides within our seemingly ordinary resources and abilities. It's about recognizing that, with faith as our foundation, what we possess is enough to embark on new ventures or rejuvenate stagnant waters. So, as we stand on the brink of new beginnings, let's commit to placing Jesus Christ at the center of our aspirations and welcome the blessings that await us.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning to all of you, men, and welcome to
Community Church Online.
Listen, I want you to do me afavor.
I'd like for you to eliminateevery distraction possible.
I'd like for you, if it is atall possible, to get rid of
every distraction and put yourheart and your mind in a place

(00:26):
of worship where you give yourtotal attention to what God
wants to say to you during thistime.
I'd like you, if at allpossible, to get rid of anything
in your environment that woulddistract you away from what God

(00:52):
wants to say to your heart rightnow and create an environment
of worship.
Create an environment that isconducive to hearing the voice
of the Lord over the next fewminutes.

(01:14):
A lot of times we miss what Godis saying, not because he's not
speaking, but because we aredistracted, and by doing our
worship at home this week, it isnot my intention that we would
not worship the Lord.
It is my intention that wewould certainly worship the Lord

(01:38):
with our families in our home.
So take a moment, get rid ofanything that's distracting you
away from what God wants you tosay Of course, unless you're
driving or at work or somethinglike that, but get rid of
anything that would take yourmind off of what the Lord wants

(01:59):
to speak to you in this time, atthis moment, and prepare your
hearts, prepare your minds, forwhat the Lord wants to say.
This is the last time we willgather in 2023, and we certainly
want to hear what the Lord hasto say to us as we depart this

(02:23):
year and go into the next.
For those of you who arejoining us for the first time,
welcome to Community Church, man.
Our vision is to engage peopleand change lives, and it's our
hope that you are engaged inwhat God does here and that, to

(02:45):
some degree, your life ischanged, that you are motivated
to take the next step, whateverthat might look like, in your
relationship with the Lord.
Click on the link or scan the QRcode.
Let us know that you were here.
We'd love to reach back out toyou and let you know how glad we

(03:08):
are that you worshiped with us.
If this is your first time withus, let's pray, and then we'll
dive in and see what God has tosay to us.
Come on, let's prepare ourhearts.
Father, thank you so much forbringing us to this place at
this time.
Lord, you kept us.

(03:31):
Father, you blessed us.
We are here, and for that wesay thank you.
Now, lord, we need to know whatyou're saying.
In this season, we need a wordfrom you, we need you to speak
to us, father, and so we askthat you would do exactly that.

(03:54):
We thank you for what you'regonna say.
It's in Jesus name that youpray.
We pray Amen.
The word for today is this youare never going to finish what
you don't start.
It's I know it's simple, it's,it's so simple, but I want you

(04:18):
to think about it for a moment.
You are never going to finishwhat you don't start Like that's
.
That's the message in anutshell, pastor.
You had us gather for that?
Yeah, but I want you to thinkabout it.
What do you have in your lifethat you need to get started?
What is it that we're at theend of 2023?

(04:40):
What is it that you keepputting off?
Here's something else I wantyou to think about.
Why do you keep putting it?
Putting it off?
Is it fear?
Is it distraction?
Somebody say, pastor, I'm just aprocrastinator or I just don't
want to deal with what I knowI'm gonna have to deal with when

(05:05):
I do what I know I need to do.
Come on how many of you you goto start what you know you need
to get done, and then you say, man, I'll do something else.
For some of us, we havesomething that God has said

(05:26):
listen, I want you to get thisstarted.
I want you to do this, and whatI'm asking you is for you, what
is it?
Maybe for you it you're like meit's time to get fit and
healthy.
Maybe for you, it's time tostart that business.
What about restoring thatrelationship and no, I'm not

(05:50):
talking about the one that Godtold you to leave either.
I'm talking about therelationship that God wants you
to restore, but but your pridekeeps getting in the way.
Your hard heart won't let youdo it.
You got any relationships thatneed to be restored?
Or maybe for you, it's time tostop being a slave to your

(06:14):
schedule.
It's time for you to get somerest.
God is saying to you makespending time with your family a
priority.
It's time for you to make adifference in the lives of other
people.
I'm asking you what is it thatyou need to go ahead and get
done?

(06:34):
I'm asking you, coming out of23.
What is it that you've leftundone?
And the message for today isvery, very simple.
Whatever that thing is, youwill never finish it.
If you don't get started, you'll never finish it.

(06:54):
If you don't get started Say itone more time you have no
chance of finishing what youdon't get started.
You got to get started.
If you never get started, you'll never finish.
So, pastor, I hear you, I hearyou, I hear you.
How do I get started?
You just do it.
You just do it.
You listen, you don't waituntil you feel like it.

(07:16):
That's why you hadn't gottenstarted yet.
You don't wait until you havetime.
Come on, you wait until youfeel like it.
You're not gonna feel like it.
Well, pastor, I just don't havetime.
Well, look at what he feels.
5, 15, 16 says about time.
It says look carefully then howyou walk, not as unwise, but as

(07:41):
wise.
Watch this Making the best useof time.
Watch this Wise people make thebest use of their time.
Whoo, unwise people don't makethe best use of their time.
Listen, you, you, you, you.
If you, if you are going to dowhat God is calling you to do,

(08:03):
if you're going to do what Godhas placed upon your heart, you
have to make the best use ofyour time.
Notice it says best use Doesn'tsay make good use of your time.
It says make the best use.
Now, just to be sure, for thoseof you who say you know I'm
gonna do it when I get some time, I want you to know.

(08:26):
I went ahead and checked on itfor you.
I went ahead and looked into it.
I called the manufacturer andand just those of you who say
I'm waiting until I get somemore time they confirmed for me
that they're not making anymorethe manufacturer of time

(08:52):
discontinued production.
They're not adding anymorehours to the day.
It's gonna be 24 hours in a dayuntil the Lord comes back.
You wait until you get somemore time.
You're gonna be waiting tillthe Lord comes back.
So what do I do, pastor?
Listen, it's not about addingmore hours to the day.

(09:15):
It's about making what you needto get done a priority.
It's about making the best useof the time that you have.
You don't have to add morehours to the day.
You have to make what you needto get done a priority.
Listen, you do first the thingsthat matter the most.

(09:36):
You got to learn to do firstthe things that matter the most.
And if you don't learn to dofirst the things that matter the
most.
You will never get around tothe things that matters the most
.
You want to see yourselfgrowing this year coming.
Whatever matters the most, doit first.
Matter of fact, let me just saythis while I'm here that the

(09:59):
first thing you should be doingevery day is making sure that
your heart is right before God,making sure that you have his
word in your heart before you doanything else.
Listen, you don't have to guessabout what to do first, because
God has already told you andMatthew 1633 this is what it

(10:24):
says.
He says but seek first thekingdom of God.
Listen, don't go into the newyear looking to change a bunch
of stuff on the outside if theinside the most important part
of you, isn't where it needs tobe that the most important thing

(10:44):
in your life is your spirituallife.
The most important thing inyour life is the condition of
your heart.
In other words, the Bible tellsus that out of the heart flow
the issues of life.
In other words, the issues I'mhaving in my life are a result

(11:06):
of the condition of my heart, and many times we attack the
issue but we don't condition theheart and can't figure out why
we keep having issues and theyonly get worse Doesn't do me any
good to work on the issues andnot make sure my heart is right.
I told you story before, man, listen, I had a Toyota Camry

(11:30):
that I loved, man, it's firstcar I ever bought.
And this, this Camry, man, Iwaxed that thing.
Man, I'm surprised.
If waxing the paint off of acar was possible, I probably
would have waxed the paint offthat car.
I mean, I waxed that thing.

(11:51):
I kept the outside of thatthing so clean.
I mean it was clean.
Oh my god.
Can I tell you something?
I was young, irresponsible andcareless, so I didn't keep up
with the maintenance.
I didn't make sure that the oilchain was changed on time.
I mean, I changed it when I gotaround to it.

(12:14):
I didn't do the tune-ups like Ishould have and, and just as
it's gonna happen with any carthat you don't make sure you
maintain, the engine died on me.
Come on somebody, and by thetime the engine died on me, the
value of the car was such thatit didn't make sense to replace

(12:35):
the engine.
So you know what I ended upwith?
I ended up with the prettiestcar in the junkyard.
I had the most beautiful carthat there was in the junkyard.
Why, pastor?
Because I did not take care ofthe main thing.

(12:58):
I did not take care of theengine.
Listen to me don't go into 2024,don't go through 2024 taking
care of everything except theengine of your life.
Lord, have mercy.
Don't.
Don't say yes to everythingexcept the Lord.

(13:21):
Don't listen, don't say yes toso many things that you can't
say yes to the Lord.
The most important thing, thatthe most important part of every
single day of your life is thepart of the day that you spend
with the Lord, and you ought tomake up your mind right now.

(13:43):
I'm making it a priority.
I'm gonna make the best use ofmy time first thing in the
morning, I'm spending some timewith Jesus.
I'm gonna say that again, themost important part of every
single day of your life is thetime that you spend with Jesus.
Every day, you need your mindrenewed.

(14:05):
Every day, you need the Lord togive you wisdom.
Every day, you need the Lord tofix your heart.
Every day, you need the Lord tocheck the engine of your life
and make sure that it's runningstrong and running right.
That's why, every day, you needto make sure that you

(14:26):
prioritize spending time withthe one who matters the most.
If you have everything else inorder and your soul is not in
order, you got a pretty car witha messed up engine.
Have mercy.
It's only a matter of timebefore things start breaking
down in your life.

(14:47):
Listen to me, listen, listen,listen.
The problem in your life is notthat you don't have time.
The problem is you seekeverything else first.
You want a life that matters.
You want a blessed life.
You want a life that hasmeaning.

(15:08):
You got to seek Him first.
You got to devote yourself toHim first.
You got to give Him your mindfirst so that you can think on
things that honor Him.
You have to give Him your eyesfirst thing in the morning so
that throughout the day you cansee things the way he wants you

(15:29):
to see things.
You have to give Him your earat the top of your day so that
you can hear His voice when he'sspeaking.
You got to tell Him Lord, usemy mouth to give you glory.
You got to give Him your feetso you'll go where he wants you
to go.

(15:49):
You got to devote yourself tothe Lord, delight yourself in
the Lord, and the Bible says, and he will give you the desires
of your heart.
Can I tell you this?
That's why we fast at the topof every year.
That's why we fast at thebeginning of every year.
That's why we do a spirituallife conference every year at

(16:12):
the beginning of the year.
Why, pastor?
Because it's our way of seekingfirst the one who matters the
most.
Whoo, this year our fast isgonna start January 7th and
we're kicking off our fast withthe spiritual life conference on
January 8th.
It's gonna be January 8th, 9thand 10th.

(16:33):
It's right at the beginning ofthe year.
You ought to make up in yourmind I'm going all three nights
to the spiritual life conferenceand I'm joining the fast.
I'm starting the year offseeking first the one who
matters the most, pastor, howdoes that work?
How we're gonna go to thespiritual life conference and
we're gonna pray and we're gonnaget prayed for and Bishop Sam

(16:56):
Blakes is gonna challenge uswith the word of God.
Listen to me, you aren't doinganything that's more important
than aligning your heart withthe heart of God at the
beginning of the year.
I'm gonna say it again you arenot doing anything that's more

(17:16):
important than aligning yourheart with the heart of God.
At the beginning of the year, you ought to make up in your
mind I'm doing the fast, I'mdoing the fast and I'm going to
the spiritual life conferencebecause right at the top of the
year, I want to establish in mylife that I'm seeking first the

(17:39):
one who matters the most.
Whoo, pastor, how do I getinformation on the fast?
You click on this link thatthey're putting up right now.
Pastor, I don't know anythingabout a fast.
That's okay, we're gonna teachyou, we're gonna show you what
Fast Thing is all about.

(17:59):
You click that link and we havea guide that'll tell you what
Fast Thing is all about and howyou do it.
And then, if you have anyquestions, you just ask us.
We want to seek first the onewho matters the most.
Pastor, I don't know anythingabout a spiritual life
conference.
Spiritual life conference iswhere you come and you get pray,
and you get pray for it, and weworship and we are challenged

(18:21):
with the word of God, and Godmeets us there and we seek him
and get his blessings and we setthe spiritual tone of community
church for 2024.
We're seeking first the one whomatters the most.
We're aligning our hearts withthe heart of God right at the

(18:45):
beginning of the year.
I'm looking for all of us,those who are members of the
community church family andothers of you who want to join
us in this journey.
Join us for the fast startingJanuary 7th and join us on the
8th, 9th and 10th as we kick offour fast with our spiritual
life conference.

(19:06):
You know a lot of times whatstops us from starting.
What we need to start is thatwe look at where we are and we
see this big, huge mess, thismountain of a mess.
Some of you, as you're goinginto 2024, you're already
thinking man, I ain't settingany goals.
I got so much I want to do, butit's just too much.

(19:27):
All I see is this big mountainpasses.
It kills my motivation.
Listen, I get it Nothing tokill your motivation, like
looking at a mountain, but can Itell you this the mountain is
only too big to climb if that'swhat you convince yourself of.
I'm gonna say it again Whatevermountain you might be facing,

(19:51):
it's only too big to climb ifyou convince yourself that it is
.
Proverbs 18 and 21 tells usthat death and life are in the
power of the tongue, and theythat love it shall eat the fruit
thereof.
Listen, it's only too much Ifyou say to yourself it's too

(20:12):
much.
It's only too much If you sayto yourself it's too much, and
here's the deal.
You'll never finish it unlessyou get started.
It doesn't matter what you'retrying to do.
If you've never get started, Ican guarantee you that you will
never finish it.

(20:32):
You need to repair your credit.
You're looking at it.
It's this big, huge mountain.
You say, man, it's just toomessed up.
Listen to me, just get started.
Start with the lowest bill, paythat lowest bill off and then
move to the next one.
Well, pastor, it's not mycredit, it's my weight.
You look at yourself and yousay, man, it's gonna take me 10

(20:53):
years to lose all this weight.
How am I gonna lose it?
How am I gonna lose it?
One meal at a time.
Just get started.
Just start exercising.
Your marriage is on the rocksand you're looking at it and
you're saying, man, it's too fargone.
Pastor, behind the world, Iwanna fix it, but we got such a

(21:15):
mess going here.
Maybe you can't repair yourmarriage in one day, but I can't
tell you what you can do.
You can own your own in therelationship.
How about if you start by justapologizing.
Start right there, just getstarted.

(21:36):
If you don't get started, I canguarantee you you'll never
finish.
Whatever it is, if you neverget started you'll never finish.
There's another thing.
Not only do you have to getstarted, you got to use what you
have.
Come on, put in the comments.
Somebody say use what you have, use what you have.

(22:01):
The Bible tells the story ofPeter and John in Acts, chapter
three, verse two, says they wentup together into the temple at
the hour of prayer, being theninth hour, it says, and a
certain man, lame, from hismother's womb, was carried, whom
they laid daily at the gate ofthe temple.
Come on, which was calledbeautiful, to ask alms of them

(22:25):
that enter the temple, says, who, seeing Peter and John about to
go into the temple, ask foralms, says, and Peter, fasting
his eyes, fastening his eyesupon him, with John, said look
on us.
Peter says look at us.
Man, he tells him look at us,watch this.

(22:46):
And he gave it unto them, expecting to receive something
of them.
In other words, he wasexpecting them to give him
something.
But watch what Peter tells him.
I love this.
Then Peter said he says silverand gold, I have none.
In other words, what he wastelling the guy is man, listen,

(23:09):
I don't have what you're lookingfor, I don't have it.
But then he says this but suchas I have.
I give thee Now notice whatPeter didn't do.
He didn't make any excuses forwhat he didn't have.
He didn't just say I don't haveany silver or gold.

(23:32):
He said you know what guy, Idon't have any silver or gold.
I don't have what you'relooking for, I don't have what.
He didn't just say I don't havewhat I need to help you.
What he said was I don't haveany silver or gold, but I do
have some stuff called such as Ihave.
Lord, have mercy.

(23:52):
I've got some stuff called suchas I have.
I don't have what you'relooking for, but I've got some
stuff called whatever I got mybrother, and it's the stuff that
makes up for what I lack.
It's the stuff that, coupledwith some faith, accomplishes

(24:14):
what no human mind cancomprehend.
Can I tell you that, those ofyou who are joining me right now
, if you don't have anythingelse, you got some stuff called
such as I have.
You've got some stuff in yourpossession.
You know what happens Sometimes.
We get so focused on what wedon't have that we can't see

(24:34):
what we have.
So sometimes it's not a matterof resources, it's a matter of
focus.
I'm going to say it againSometimes it's not a matter of
resources, it's a matter offocus.
Sometimes you have to refocusyour mind on what you do have.
You have to train your mind tolook for what you have that you

(24:56):
can use, as opposed to what youdon't have at your disposal.
Many of us right now we're notreaching our potential, not
living up to our ability, notbecause of what we don't have,
but because we're only focusedon what we don't have as opposed
to focusing on what we do have.
You have to learn to askyourself what do I have?

(25:18):
What do I have that can be used?
You know, when God called theMoses to lead his people out of
Egypt, moses was telling God allof the reasons why he couldn't
do it and what he was missingfor the job.
He was telling them what he wasmissing for the job, and God
asked Moses an interestingquestion.
In Exodus, chapter four, versetwo, it says then the Lord said

(25:42):
to him, in other words, talkingto Moses what is that in your
hand?
Moses tells God, it's a staff.
The reason why he had a staffis because he was a shepherd.
It wasn't anything special, itwasn't anything expensive, it

(26:02):
wasn't anything that he broughtwith him because he knew that he
was going to be meeting withGod.
He wasn't thinking in advance,he wasn't even thinking that God
was going to use this, it wasjust what he had in his hand.
But Moses didn't realize thatthe only thing God needed from
him was Moses' willingness touse what he had in his hand.

(26:27):
Lord, have mercy.
And you know what God did.
God took that staff and he usedit to perform a miracle after
miracle after miracle aftermiracle, in route to a victory
for his people.
At one point, that staff was asnake and it swallowed up
Pharaoh's snake.
At one point, that staff splitthe Red Sea and the children of

(26:52):
Israel walked across on dry land.
Moses one time held that staffup and God used that staff to
slay Moses' enemies.
But can I tell you somethingthat didn't happen until God got
Moses to pay attention.
Lord, have mercy to what he hadin his hand.

(27:15):
Can I just preach to somebody, because I believe that, going
into the new year, god wants toask you what's in your hand.
If all you see are excuses, godsays I didn't give you those.
If all you see is why you can't, you're looking at the wrong
hand.
God says what's in your hand.

(27:38):
In other words, what do youhave that you could use to do
what I've purposed in you to do,both in your own life and in
the kingdom?
What's in your hand?
The miracles aren't coming fromthe sky.
They're going to come, god says, from what I placed in your
hand.

(27:58):
God says stop looking for themiracle.
It's time for you to be themiracle.
Use what I placed in your handto give me glory.
Use what I placed in your handto improve your life.
Use what I've placed in yourhand to fulfill your calling.
Use what I've placed in yourhand to impact the people around

(28:22):
you, because the world needs toknow what I can do.
Lord, have mercy.
I wish I had my 11 o'clockcrowd when you use what I placed
in your hand.
My question what's in your hand?
What do you have in your handthat God can use?
You got to focus on what's inyour hand.

(28:45):
Focus on what God has given you.
Another thing we're going to do.
We have to do.
Not only are we going to usewhat we have.
You got to do what you can.
You know when God helped himmove past the I don't have what
I need excuse.

(29:07):
Moses found another one Verse 10of chapter 4 of Exodus.
Moses said to the Lord pardonyour servant, lord, but I've
never been eloquent, neither inthe past nor since you've spoken
to your servant.
You know why he said no, sinceyou spoke to your servant, what
Moses was saying was Lord, youcan't even change the fact that

(29:27):
I got a speech impediment.
Coming into your presencehadn't even changed that.
Doesn't that sound like some ofus?
Our excuse is Lord, even sinceI've been saved, this part of my
character hadn't changed.
Lord, even since I've known you, this part of who I am has not

(29:51):
changed.
Doesn't that sound like some ofus?
Watch what God tells Moses, though he says.
Moses says I'm slow speech andtongue.
In other words, moses said Lord, I'm not eloquent.
But then watch what the Lordsays to him in verse 11 to 12.
Who gave human beings theirmouths?
Who makes them deaf, amused?

(30:13):
Who gives them sight or makesthem blind?
Is it not I, the Lord?
Now go, I will help you speakand I will teach you what to say
you know what God was saying toMoses.
He was saying you do realizewho you're talking to, don't you
?
You do realize that I'm the onewho decided how you would speak

(30:38):
.
I'm the one who formed you inyour mother You're talking about
.
You've been this way.
You realize I'm the one whoformed you in your mother's womb
, don't you?
In other words, what God wastelling Moses is Moses.
You're too worried about whoyou are, but.
But who you are doesn't matteras much as who I am.

(31:01):
I wish I had a church.
I am the one who created you,and when you walk with me, the
ordinary becomes Extraordinary.
You, you're just going to dowhat you can, and I'll give you
what you need along the way.
Can I tell you, for so many ofus, our level of gifting is

(31:24):
already above our level ofobedience.
We already have way more thanwhat we need in order to be
obedient to what God is callingus to do.
Our level of ability is alreadyabove our we.
We've, we're already educatedway above our level of obedience
.
God says you don't need more, you need to start with what you

(31:50):
have.
You need to do what you can.
Don't, don't listen, listen,listen.
You ready for this.
Never spiritualize yourdisobedience.
That's what Moses was doing.
Never spiritualize yourdisobedience.
Don't don't disobey God andblame it on God.
Don't don't be disobedient tothe Lord and blaming on the Lord

(32:15):
not giving you what you'vedetermined that you need.
Listen if God says go, he'llgive you what you need.
While you're going, god says, moses, you worried about how
you're gonna sound when you getthere?
You just go, knowing that I'mgoing with you.
You're worried about step 10,moses, all I need you to do is

(32:37):
take step one.
You, you just get started.
You, you let me be God and youjust be you.
You just go and you just Dowhat you can.
And when you do what you can,I'll be who I am and give you
everything that you need.
You start where you are, moses.
You use what you have.

(33:00):
You do what you can, becauseyou're never gonna finish what
you don't start by your headswith me, father, thank you.
Thank you, father, for everyopportunity you give us.

done, but it seems overwhelming.
Give them the wisdom, father.
Give them the courage To startwhere they are, the wisdom to

(33:53):
use what they have, lord, andgive them, father, the
commitment to do what they can, whatever hits bowed.
If you're capable, eyes closed,listen, don't go into 2024
without the Lord, so somebodyyou, you will scroll in by and

(34:17):
you stopped right here.
That's this.
This is a God ordained moment.
He meant for you to be tuned inand engaged in this message.
And here's the reason whyBecause you do not need to go
into a new year Without makingJesus Christ the head of your
