Ever found yourself staring at the wall of toilet paper options at the store, frozen by indecision? That's exactly the kind of everyday overthinking we're here to unravel.

"The Complexity of Toilet Paper" brings together three chronic overthinkers – Al Emerick, Mark Pollack, and Phyllis Martin – on a mission to help you find simplicity in an increasingly complicated world. After spending over a year planning this podcast (yes, we overthought it too!), we're excited to invite you into our metaphorical stall for conversations that combine practical wisdom with unexpected insights and a healthy dose of humor.

Al brings his background in radio, television, and brand communication, Mark offers perspectives from his journey from broadcasting dreams to corporate leadership, and Phyllis contributes her passion for community impact and personal growth. Together, we explore how overthinking becomes a barrier to joy, decision-making, and achieving our full potential.

This isn't just another self-help podcast. We're real people who struggle with the same tendency to complicate the uncomplicated. Through honest discussions, guest interviews, personal stories, and practical strategies (plus some potty humor because, well, toilet paper), we'll help you recognize when you're making things "hairy and scary" and give you tools to flush away those overcomplications.

Join us as we tackle life's complexities one episode at a time. Follow us on Facebook at "The Complexity of Toilet Paper" and prepare to roll with whatever life throws your way. Are you ready to stop standing in your own way and start living more simply?

Al Emerick (00:01):
Sometimes, I wish we could go back to a time when
things weren't so complicated.
Welcome to the Complexity ofToilet Paper, the podcast that
dives into the everyday momentswhere we overthink, hesitate or
just get stuck.
I'm overthinking.
I'm over, I'm overthinking.
Let's hear it for the toiletpaper Through honest

(00:24):
conversations, unexpectedinsights and a whole lot of
humor.
Your hosts, phyllis Martin, mark Pollack and Al Emmerich,
are here to help you roll withit and make your life a little
less complicated.
One conversation at a time, that's right, dude.
The beauty of this is itssimplicity, speaking of which

(00:44):
it's time to enter the stall, put the lid down or not,
depending get comfortable androll with it.
Oh worry, not, dear friend,it's really quite simple.
This is the complexity oftoilet paper.

Mark Pollack (01:03):
Well, hello there, world, and welcome to the
complexity of toilet paper.

Al Emerick (01:06):
Well, hello there, world and welcome to the
complexity of toilet paper.
This is our official pre-launchshow tease promo movie trailer
voice.

Mark Pollack (01:15):
I just wanted to do that.
Hi, I'm Al Emmerich.
Hi, I'm Mark Pollack.

Phyllis Martin (01:18):
Hi, I'm Phyllis Martin.

Mark Pollack (01:21):
And we are the trio in the stall behind the
complexity of toilet paper.
We hope you love that title, and if you're listening to this,
then the curiosity cat hastapped you on the shoulder or
scratched you in your face andsaid what the hell is this thing
?
And so the complexity of toiletpaper is a year long plus

(01:42):
journey to finally arrive atthis launch where three friends
have come together who all overthink shit in life and said how
do we help other people findsimplicity in their life?
And for me, my backgroundstarted in radio television
early on, so doing a podcast isa natural cool thing for me.

(02:05):
I mean, I just love beingbehind the microphone again, but
also I've spent a lifetime as abrand communicator, problem
solver and living my passion, which is helping people make
better decisions in their lifeby really unlocking greater
value and understanding theimpact they make both
individually and for theirbusinesses.

(02:26):
And so what is the thing thatstands in the way of that?
So often it's we overthink shit, we, we, we stand in our own
way, we make things toocomplicated, and so when the
three of us came together to todo this show, it was a no
brainer, even even though we'veoverthought the hell out of it,
and so that's why we're here, and I hope that, between my

(02:49):
background and the humor thatI'll bring, you'll really have a
great time.
And I know, mark, you have yourown version of that being an
old radio guy.
Yes, I had dreams of being abroadcaster, ended up, uh,
moving into the corporate worldand doing the corporate exec
thing still in that space andlove it.

(03:10):
But this is such an opportunityto impact, um, all of us who
are chronic overthinkers, whocan take the most simplest of
ideas and make them hairy andscary, and so I'm super excited
about the show and where we'regoing with it and we're so
thrilled to have you in thestall with us flushing away

(03:33):
Phyllis Martin what's your truth?

Phyllis Martin (03:34):
So my truth is this I am a lifelong journeyer,
chronic over thinker, perpetualself actualizer, with a very
strong desire to helpcommunities and people achieve
their goals, overcome obstacles, get to some kind of impact.

(04:01):
I love it when people are braveenough to face their fears and
come on what I think is amagnificent journey that has
brought me into the stall withthe two of you and allows me to
take the big step of using myvoice publicly to share the
lessons I've learned over thecourse of my life, to help

(04:26):
others stop overcomplicating, because it's such a barrier to
joy and to what I think we allwant to do.
So I'm super excited to be herewith you, to be doing this show
, to meet people I have yet tomeet, and to get this thing
started.

Mark Pollack (04:45):
And get this thing started.
We will.
There are episodes forthcomingwhere we will invite guests.
We will invite ourselves.
If you are a fan of toiletpaper, this is the show for you.
If you're a fan of solvingproblems and accelerating your
dreams and getting out of yourown way, this is the show for

(05:07):
you.
And if you like laughter andjoy and silliness, that's there
too, because, damn it, you can'tfigure stuff out if you don't
have a little bit of potty humorto back you up.
And so, like us on Facebook,it's the complexity of toilet
paper.
Look for more details in theshow notes.
This is the complexity oftoilet paper.

(05:28):
Welcome.

Al Emerick (05:29):
Did you say toilet paper?
I'm overthinking.
I'm over.
I'm overthinking.

Phyllis Martin (05:35):
Everything complicated, one big medieval
mess.
