(00:00):
Hello, hello, hello!
(00:20):
My name is Lily Monroe and you are listening to Escort Confessions.
Thank you so much for tuning in today.
So recently I went on a road trip through North and in my last episode I was talking
about going to Michigan and visiting Wisconsin.
And if you don't know where Wisconsin is, just Google it.
(00:43):
Also apparently that 70's show was set in Wisconsin and it's like one of my favorite
shows.
So there's that.
So I went to Minnesota recently to the Mall of America and I did talk about that in my
last episode.
So I will skip to the part where I went to the Sioux Falls in South Dakota.
(01:05):
And because South Dakota is next to Wyoming where I used to live many, many years ago,
it reminded me so much of Wyoming and there was snow and I was so excited.
Like honestly one of the main reasons I went to the North was to see the snow.
I just have to have snow.
I need to make snow devils.
(01:27):
I need to play in the snow.
I need to taste the snow.
I need to pee my name in the snow.
I need to mark my territory in the snow.
I just want to do all kinds of things in the snow.
Wink, wink.
So I mean I love snow.
Because you know in Ukraine we don't have much snow and in Wyoming we got lots of snow
(01:53):
that I kind of got annoyed from it.
But then in the South we don't get any snow so it's like ah!
I gotta go somewhere where there's snow.
Like a few years ago I went to Denver, Colorado.
Then a year after that I did this whole road trip cross country to Moab and back and snow.
Gotta have snow.
(02:13):
I think snow is a term for cocaine.
It's like a slang for cocaine.
Either way both of these I do enjoy.
So there's that.
So I went to Seafall in South Dakota.
I decided to skip North Dakota because one of my really good friends who's like a family
(02:35):
to me, he ended up being deployed to South Dakota for his job and I'm like oh my god
we need to hang out.
And it's so weird because me and this friend, we used to date a long time ago.
And he travels for work, I travel for work.
He's single, I'm single.
So like we just hang out.
And that's it.
Like we only hang out, there's no sex stuff.
(02:58):
There's just hang out, catch up.
We just like we happened to be in Oregon one time.
Then the next one he was in Vegas, I was in Vegas.
We hung out.
Now it's South Dakota out of all the places.
And like he was gonna spend New Year's Day and Eve by himself and I'm like you know what
(03:19):
let's do it together.
Like let's spend it together.
It's more fun.
More fun with friends.
So we did that.
So yeah I went to Seafall, went to Rapid City.
Badlands National Park is a must see.
It's very small park so don't expect to spend more than 3 hours on it unless you wanna go
(03:43):
on trails which would take a lot of time.
I'm not a very travel, I mean trail person.
I'm a very much travel person.
But trails I get bored.
I'm like I'm such, I don't know people call me influencer and I'm like no no no I don't
like that word.
I influence people to travel more and to be better.
(04:06):
But I guess I am a bit of an influencer in the way that I just take pretty pictures,
selfies and then I keep going.
Like I don't actually go on those trails.
I mean if it's a short trail yes I would go.
But it's like well what's the point.
Like I get it, it's not the destination that matters, it's the journey.
But I'm like well destination is kind of my thing so it's like I'm gonna take pictures,
(04:30):
I'm gonna edit them and it's gonna be pretty pictures.
I still get to experience all the things.
So yeah Badlands National Park absolutely have to see.
I mean you might be missing out something really cool but it's just because it's snowed
in South Dakota the park looks way more beautiful with the snow.
(04:51):
And it's like you're driving and it's like wow wow wow.
Every corner it's just gorgeous, gorgeous park.
And it's called Badlands National Park near Rapid City in South Dakota.
One of those national parks in the United States that you have to see.
(05:15):
So I did that then I hung out with my friend for the next two days.
We spent New Year together, we drove around to rich neighborhoods to see the Christmas
lights then we played Mario Kart because I love Mario Kart.
I actually bought a Nintendo Switch.
I used to have Nintendo before but then I didn't.
(05:40):
So yeah I just got a new Nintendo Switch Lite so I'm gonna play Mario Kart on that.
So if I don't answer some of your emails that's what I'm doing.
I'm playing Mario Kart.
I'm sorry.
Yeah so I spent New Year's there and it was a really good New Year.
(06:01):
It was definitely better than last year and it was definitely better than before that.
I think it's gonna be a good one for quite a few years.
I mean hopefully next year I will also go somewhere for New Year's and spend it there
and it's gonna be awesome.
So after that, after Rapid City I went to Lincoln, Nebraska.
(06:29):
Two hundred fifty thousand people live in that town and there's nothing to do.
It's like I saw people but it's like when I went there and I went there during daytime
nobody was around.
Very very few people so I'm like am I in a ghost town?
What is going on?
Where is everybody?
It was maybe first or second so probably people were at home even though it was gorgeous weather.
(06:54):
But I remember this moment when I was walking downtown I was just taking pretty pictures
like I always do and this one guy he comes to me he's like hi excuse me I noticed you
took a picture of that building.
May I ask what's the reason?
I'm like I'm a photographer and he's like oh okay.
So I'm like I don't know if he thought maybe I was dumb or something but apparently it
(07:17):
was one of those buildings where you go for V-Apps so maybe he thought I was talking to
somebody.
But anyways it was a really cute building so.
Yeah, stayed in Lincoln.
The next day I drove to Des Moines in Iowa.
(07:38):
There was something there but I forgot what it was because it's like I would wake up every
day and I'm like where am I?
Because I had to complete this trip in 8 days which was not enough so.
But yeah Des Moines was cool from what I remember.
I just don't remember where I went to.
(08:00):
I think I saw some trails.
Trails parks.
Oh the church.
Went to this really cool church.
When I went there literally a minute right after me a I keep forgetting the American
(08:21):
words.
The English American words.
It's the car that carries dead people.
And so the church was locked.
I'm sorry it was cathedral.
Cathedral was locked and they asked me is it locked?
I'm like yeah.
And the guy said wow I'm gonna call and it won't be closed anymore.
I'm like haha.
(08:42):
Okay.
And I'm like I saw that you know he carried one of them.
Yeah.
Like his relative passed away.
I'm like I'm sorry for your loss.
And he's like thank you thank you.
She was a great woman.
So when you know he opened the cathedral around those guys.
And I took some pictures.
(09:05):
I never saw an open casket.
I'm sorry I did see an open casket.
Because there was a funeral.
They were preparing for the funeral and you know only three guys showed up and there was
me like a stranger.
So I have not seen an open casket since I was maybe 11 or 12 years old where when my
grandfather was buried.
(09:25):
So when my grandfather died.
So it was like it was just weird.
I don't know it was such a casual thing seeing an open casket with a person you don't know.
But even if it was somebody you knew it's like huh okay they're just kind of laying
there sleeping.
It was I don't know it was such a casual thing.
But I wasn't scared or anything.
It was just I don't know.
(09:45):
It was interesting.
Interesting.
Open casket.
You know.
Stuff you don't usually see every day.
But yeah so after that.
Back to the cathedral I drove back to Chicago.
And then back to Grand Rapids.
And honestly the weather was so bad in Grand Rapids.
(10:06):
I'm just like I'm just gonna see all those trails really really quick.
And because everything.
The snow was not there.
It disappeared.
It melted.
So I'm like the trees are bare.
The clouds are cloudy in the sky.
There's no sun whatsoever.
I'm just like I'm done.
I'm just gonna hang out in my hotel room.
(10:28):
And I watched Friends because you know Matthew Perry and whatnot.
And he's like I don't know.
Yeah so I watched Friends.
I quite enjoyed that.
Yeah and it was a good trip.
It was a good trip.
I really enjoyed it.
I think eight days is more than enough for a vacation.
Which is what it was.
(10:49):
You know.
But I think next time it will be five days.
Because I think five days is enough.
But then again depends where you go.
So yeah if you have not visited those states you should.
Especially the Badlands National Park in South Dakota.
Because that was my favorite part.
And Chicago.
I've heard Chicago is good.
(11:09):
So I have to go there next time.
But yeah thank you so much for tuning in today.
My name is Lily Emanuele.
And I will talk to you guys next time.
