(00:00):
Hey guys, what is going on?

(00:09):
My name is Lilly Monroe and Happy New Year!
Yay!
It's 2024 and in case you're still hungover, it is 2024.
So there you go.
Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, I hope you guys had really good holidays, you got everything
that you wanted.

(00:30):
I sure did.
You know, I actually spent it in South Dakota out of all the places, but I will talk about
it in the next episode.
So if you can't tell, I'm a little bit sick.
I got sick from my trip to Michigan, but on this episode I will talk about my recent trip

(00:53):
to San Antonio, Texas.
I've been wanting to go there for quite a while.
I can't remember why.
I cannot remember why.
I think I saw some pictures, some pretty pictures on the internet and I was like, ooh, where's
that?
Ooh, San Antonio, Texas, never heard of this city.
So I decided to go there, finally.

(01:14):
And the first time I tried to book the flight there, it got canceled because for some reason,
if it rains just a little bit near Atlanta Airport, oh, everything is getting delayed
because that's just the way Atlanta Airport is.
So yeah, it got delayed.
Gotta love Atlanta Airport.

(01:35):
You know, I do like the airport.
It's super convenient, super big, lots of restaurants, but it's the employees that kind
of bother me.
It's just not really good employees, that's all.
But anyways, skipping to San Antonio.
Nice cute town.

(01:56):
You know, after traveling for most of the states in the United States, it's like everything
just looks the same in a bit.
So every state and every city has this.
So it has an art museum, it has children's museum, it has some kind of botanical garden,

(02:17):
it has a state capital, obviously, it has one of the most popular parks, a lake or a
beach, something with water, then it has this stereotypical restaurant or cafe that everybody
says you should go to, but it's not worth it.

(02:38):
Movie theater, local theater, local comedy club, all of the cities have that in the United
States and I'm just like, damn it, I've been to art museums, I've been to all kinds of
botanical gardens and I love them, but they all start looking the same.
So it's like, what the fuck am I gonna do in San Antonio?

(03:02):
So I obviously do research every time, before every time I go somewhere.
So I did visit the Alamo, it's a historical place, really great, can't tell you much about
it, you just have to be there.
Just make sure to not park in the $30 parking lot because that's what I did and it was my

(03:23):
mistake but it was walking distance, so I'm like, you know what, I'm lazy, it's windy,
it's cold, I'm just gonna do it.
It's a free museum, you can put a donation if you want.
Next one is the San Antonio Mission National Historical Park, which is absolutely gorgeous.
It's also free and just go there.

(03:47):
It's like, it's something out of the movie, honestly, and I'm pretty sure something was
filmed there because I'm like, this looks like the set of a Ghost Rider, second part,
no, was it the first part?
I mean, it reminded me like the church in it looked just like the church in Ghost Rider,
the first part.
So yeah, but yeah, it's called San Antonio Mission National Historical Park.

(04:14):
You absolutely have to visit the hidden gem, it's called Japanese Tea Garden.
It's also free, which is like, oh, free places, I love free shit, I love free places.
And they're keeping it really well, keeping it very nice.
So yeah, Japanese Tea Garden, it's like, it's in the city.

(04:35):
And it's like, you go in there and you're just like, oh my god, this is so gorgeous.
Yeah.
Another thing, Historic Market Square.
I don't think I've actually been there.
It's a shopping mall, but go there.
It's great.

(04:55):
It's really cool in the pictures.
The next one is the San Antonio River Walk.
A really cool walk, it's among the river, obviously, hence the name.
You know, lots of shopping, lots of cute cafes, cute restaurants.
I was actually walking there, maybe like 8am, 9am in the morning.

(05:18):
I like to take morning walks because that's when the least people are.
Nobody's in your way, nobody's talking to you, and I'm just walking.
I mean, look, I don't mind when people talk to me, but I don't like crowded places.
So there's that.
I like to do my main stuff in the mornings.
So San Antonio River Walk.

(05:40):
Yeah, like I was saying, lots of shopping, lots of restaurants.
And when I was walking there, there was some kind of high school Mexican celebration.
I took a short video of it, but by the time I showed up, they were like five minutes till
the end.
So I did get to see some music.
I did get to see some dancing.

(06:01):
Pretty cool.
You never know what you can find in the city.
So yeah, San Antonio River Walk.
Make sure you go during good weather.
I mean, even if it's rainy weather, it's still fine.
But you know, during rainy weather, it's during sunny weather, it looks way better.
Like the area looks happy.

(06:22):
The area looks cleaner.
So yeah.
The other thing is San Fernando Cathedral.
I started noticing I'm not very religious, but I do love my cathedrals.
I do love my churches because you just never know what you can find.

(06:46):
A lot of cathedrals, they look gorgeous, both on the inside and outside.
Some churches like Catholic churches, Christian churches, they don't look as entertaining.
So cathedrals are like my go to whenever I go to New City.
Cathedrals and state capitals.

(07:06):
Like I did not realize how many state capitals are gorgeous on the inside.
Like yeah, like on the outside, you might be like, ew, government, ew, state capital.
But then I actually went to one of them in somewhere.
I cannot remember where, but I went somewhere and it's like it was something.

(07:29):
It was just very undescribable, but very breathtaking.
So definitely visit some state capitals.
I don't think I had a lot of inquiries from my spicy accountant thing, but oh, I got to
see Wonka movie.

(07:51):
And you know what?
I was not sure about going to it because I grew up with Gene Wilder.
Well, I'm sorry.
I grew up with Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka.
I loved Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka, so I was not sure about Timothee Chalamet because I'm
like, well, he's this skinny kid, even though he's like 28 now.

(08:16):
So I'm like, okay, good.
He's maturing.
Like he's looking like a man instead of a boy.
So I wasn't sure because I didn't really see a lot of stuff with him.
But then I watched this movie and it's like, oh my God, it's a musical.
It's so cute.
And like I recognized a lot of the English actors because well, you know, in England,

(08:37):
apparently they don't have a lot of actors.
So they use whoever they can, which is probably why I should move to England because, you
know, in the United States, it's like new actor every freaking day.
So Wonka was really good.
Like it was unexpectedly good.
And I was kind of surprised.

(08:58):
I might have cried a little bit at the end because it was very sentimental, but it was
beautiful.
And yeah, go watch Wonka.
Go watch it with your kids.
Go watch it with your wife or husband.
Go watch it.
It's really good.
I also remember the cashier that sold me the ticket to Wonka.
He looked a lot like Sal Goodman from Better Call Saul.

(09:20):
And I was like, did you know you look like that guy, that actor?
And he's like, yeah, people tell it to me all the time.
Like, yeah, you do.
And that's fucking awesome because he's pretty cool.
So yeah, but yeah, anyways, that was my trip to San Antonio.
And yeah, I mean, visited just I would probably give it like maybe two days to take everything

(09:45):
in because there's honestly not much a lot of stuff to do.
Six Flags.
Do not get a fast pass.
Get a regular pass.
Give your money because that's something that I did.
And apparently I went in line with everybody else to some of these.
So yeah, Six Flags.

(10:06):
You can check it out.
Like the rides are super fun.
But yeah, just just don't buy a fast pass like Lily because that was stupid and I've
lost a lot of money for it.
But I still have fun.
So yeah, if you're into roller coasters or if your kids are or if your wife or girlfriend
or boyfriend are definitely take them to Six Flags.

(10:29):
Yeah.
