Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wild Space, the Final Frontier. These are the voyages of
the starship USS Horizon's Edge, It's unending mission to explore
strange new worlds, to seek out new life and lost gods,
to boldly venture into the depths of the astral Sea
where no one has gone before. So welcome back to

(00:22):
not D and D Americana. This is our new space
campaign set in the spell Jammer universe, or will at
least be loosely inspired by the spell Jammer universe, depending
on how how much I care about sticking to the
setting and campaign of spell Jammer. So to set things up,

(00:44):
you are all recent cadets of I guess I can't
call it Starfleet. I guess they might, right, star star
Feet of sun Fleet sun Fleet Academy. You have all
graduated from cadets to Ensigns Crush Yeah, and are being

(01:07):
recruited to the USS Horizons, a mid class exploratory vessel
set to go off into the universe for a variety
of missions. The ship is headed by your CEO. Captain
is Xander Kuran, a practical, no nonsense commander who is
highly respected by the crew for his battlefield experience and

(01:30):
time put in with Sunfleet. He's joined by his IXO
commander Lira Tassarin, a half elven officer with a calm,
logical demeanor. She's known for keeping a level head in
the most tense situations and often plays the role of
mediator between the captain and crew. You have your con officer,

(01:52):
which is basically like the helmsman and the navigator squished
into one in star Trek. Sometimes they're two separate things,
but most of the time there together, so they're the
person that drives the ship. Is This is Lieutenant Jeric Delaar,
a hot shot human pilot with a cocky attitude but
an impressive record. He has a reputation for taking calculated

(02:13):
risks that pay off, but he tends to push his luck.
You also don't have to remember all of these They're
not going to come up in this session. I'm just
kind of like trying to set the scene. Your to
which is your what's the word your? I don't want
to say firearms guy. Your Your battle officer is Lieutenant
Korin Done is a battle hardened Goliath who values loyalty

(02:38):
and discipline. Korin is highly focused on defense and strategic planning,
always preparing for the worst case scenario, there is your
security chief, Lieutenant Commander Relka Vorn. She is a no
nonsense half work with a strict sense of duty. She
appears intimidating but fair, and she's known for her sharp
instincts and physical prowess. Your chief Engineer is Lieutenant Commander

(03:02):
Eric Talis, a genius tinker and half dwarf half known
hybrid with a deep love for starship mechanics. Eric has
an eccentric personality and can also often be found arguing
with the ship's AI about efficiency protocols. Chief Medical Doctor
Sanura Kavic is a common experience Tobacci who sees who's

(03:23):
seen her share of space faced trauma. She has a
gentle touch, this direct when she needs to be, especially
in emergencies. And finally, your Comms Officer, Lieutenant phaedra Jin,
who is a bright and cheerful asthmir with a gift
for languages an interstellar diplomacy. She's very optimistic and her
skills in deciphering alien signals are unparalleled. So that's kind

(03:48):
of to give you the rundown of the bridge. For
those of you who don't know, this is very much
based off Star Trek is very much a ripoff of
Star Trek. I would go as far to say, and
so there are different ranks aboard the ship. You have
your like petty officers and like un non commanding ranked
people who kind of just do things in the background.

(04:10):
That's not you. You're all ensigns, which is like the
first rank of a of like a commander commanding role.
Above that is you're pretty much though, like ensigns just
are like the to go boys of the commanding officer ranks.
So like you might be in charge of some some
lower tier like petty officers at some points, but generally

(04:32):
you'll be receiving orders, not giving them. Above them is
junior lieutenant, then it's lieutenant lieutenant, commander, commander, and then captain.
We're doing navy rants. Yeah, I Star Trek is very
heavily based in navy ranks. Well. Ships.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yeah, there's just about every Yeah, just about every fiction
based around spaceships uses naval stuff.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Yeah, there's some slight differences, which is funny because they
probably should base it off the Air Force because that's
what the Space Force used to be a part of,
is the Air Force. But they probably didn't know that way.
Back when. So it's your first day getting to the ship.
Let's start with Hannah a pick on you. So this

(05:19):
is a pretty this isn't like I say, mid size ship,
but like generally speaking there it's it's probably about like
twenty floors of spaceship, if that makes sense. So like
there's a lot of space on this ship to kind
of like move around and groove. So, for starters, you've
done the stereotypical. You've loaded up into a podship on

(05:42):
whatever planet you're from. You've been flown out into space
to board, and you are now in the hangar for
the USS Horizon's edge walking up to the ship with
your probably you notice probably a couple other groups of
ensigns or petty officers or new recruits. Turnover has been

(06:03):
a pressing issue recently in Sunfleet. And yeah, you're walking
up to the ship. You have orders to hit your
post at we'll say, oh eight hundred, and before you
get on the ship, you have to be given the
routine medical exam by none other than doctor Senora herself.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
I'm not squat in coughing.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
Yes, you see, you you have to you see, in
order for probe to to work, you have to squat
cough as they say. Okay, I'm gonna run this over
you check your vitals. Yes, good, very good, very good.
Booooooooooooooooo bo bo bo bo. You were told to keep

(06:49):
all of your luggage and personnel items and your luggage. Yes,
Why do you have rocks in your pocket?

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Those aren't really personal, They're just rocks. I saw some
back there. I wanted a couple.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
You're going to have to leave the rocks.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
No, yes, I can't do that. They're just rocks. Like
you can look at it. There's rocks.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Okay, strapper to the table.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
No, okay, fine, fine, huh, I'll turning cough. No, I
throw one of the rocks on the ship.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
To the ship, just upsus. He's not looking you go
just I see one. Make a slighter hand check eleven.
So here's the thing about the the chief medical officer
is while the other chief positions are usually lieutenants of
some grade, chief medical officers are usually commanders. And so

(07:54):
she is a little bit higher up on my generic
DC rolling table than any of the other officers. So
she's gonna go ahead and make a perception check. If
I can read my own table. She got a six,

(08:14):
So she does not see you pitch the single stone
past her shoulder into the waiting area. They do take
the rest of the rocks, and they do do the
turning cough, and you are past for all of your
medical checkout. Good good, Skutan, Scutan, there's more of you.

(08:35):
I pick up my rock and I pocket and again,
what was that? H Is your translator working correctly?

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Maybe? Maybe not?

Speaker 4 (08:46):
I'm not blake?

Speaker 1 (08:49):
All right? Who's gonna be next? Any meany mine?

Speaker 5 (08:55):
You?

Speaker 6 (08:56):
You?

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Alexander? Cool? Oh hey, let me do this a little
slightly different. Hannah reverse one. She's when she's giving your
medical exam, She like opens your file and I want
you to like tell me the very generic details that
would be on like your the patient intake form, like name, sex.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Name link sex female and race race.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Henku cool cool cool? All right, Alexander, as you're walking
up same thing, she flips open your patient records, tell
me what those three things are on that sheet? Okay?

Speaker 2 (09:39):
So all right, holdld how cringe?

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Can I be pretty cringe?

Speaker 7 (09:45):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Open book?

Speaker 7 (09:48):
All it shows is G.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Just a letter G.

Speaker 7 (09:53):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
I do not understand is this translation?

Speaker 4 (09:56):
Adder?

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Did they hand me a wrong language of papers?

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Just want bink?

Speaker 1 (10:00):
G what stings did you have to get pulled to
make this happen? I'm I'm not gonna make it a parent,
but I only use my ability. Okay, I'm using my
uh my god, I just lost it.

Speaker 7 (10:14):
No, hold on, hold on pause?

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Where to go?

Speaker 3 (10:17):
No?

Speaker 1 (10:19):
Not at gaze? Okay, you have to roll charisma? Okay,
what do I gotta beat? Fifteen? She got a twelve?

Speaker 2 (10:31):
So I'm just like, gee, blank blank, I'm I'm just
cutting a ship with her.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
Make it seem like it like you said the full name,
but like she doesn't realize you didn't say the full name.

Speaker 8 (10:43):
And I'm also going to see because while I'm in this,
while we are in this like talking situation, she's fallen.
So basically she's completely friendly with me, right for at
least one turn, which I think is five minutes.

Speaker 9 (10:57):
So from there, I'm gonna lie, is there could I
grab rocks.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
The rocks that the previous person left?

Speaker 7 (11:08):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Yeah, you definitely see like a little container set out
on the counter where they collect like contraband, And there's
definitely like the rocks that Blink left, along with like
a couple of other personal effects, like a deck of
playing cards, you know, more than more than three ounces
of liquid in a in a bottle.

Speaker 8 (11:27):
I'm taking the I'm taking the playing cards and the
freaking and the rocks.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Okay, what's your fill out the rest of the patient
and take for him for me. So we got your name,
what's your race? And then and gender?

Speaker 7 (11:42):
Human? Human?

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Male? Cool? All right, this is going to be quick.
This is different that we turned the cough for the women.
We we go up the shoot for the men. So callistic.

Speaker 8 (11:53):
I like kind of like, you know, ris my way
out of this.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
The uh, the table dressing is indestructible. To grip it
as hard as you need to. And she's gonna, on
the count of three, stick a probe up your rectum.
What I do for this job?

Speaker 9 (12:13):
My friends were fleshed on a toilet.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Good good, now Penn and pf crazy and she she
passes you and it moves you along.

Speaker 8 (12:24):
I hand the rocks to her. I'm just like, I
just kind of make something cure. I don't really say,
give you the rocks, keep them going.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
I opened the jar and they're just dump back into
my pocket loosely.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
Hell yeah, dirt and all.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Somehow in this advanced future where clothing is unable to
get dirty. Your clothes are still fairly dirty. Corey. Let's
talk about you. Yes, patient intake for them. What's that
name I've.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
Gotten up to? What's what the doctor's.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Her name is lieutenant commander. Nope, that's incorrect, Doctor Senora Kavik.
So all right?

Speaker 7 (13:10):
Is she shorter than me?

Speaker 1 (13:11):
How tall? Are you? Six? Five? Yes?

Speaker 4 (13:15):
All right?

Speaker 7 (13:16):
May, I'm sure pretty all I'm four or five.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
It makes you feel any better?

Speaker 7 (13:21):
Okay, it makes you feel little better?

Speaker 2 (13:22):
All right. I look down at her and with my
big old bug eyes. She hears a voice in her
head say.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
Vul knocks, good, good, good, all right, sunshine for you.
We do not have probe or turning cough method. I'm
just going to have to take your word for it.
Do you have tumors?

Speaker 2 (13:46):
That's that I am aware of.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Okay, if you do, we arrest you. So tumors are
counted as contraband what's the race and engender? Say?

Speaker 7 (13:59):
Race three?

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Cream gender male?

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Good, good, good, you are true higher. We have not
very many of you. It's good. The good medical training
for me going to be fun time. Try not to
get too hurt too fast, and she waves you on.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
I put my hands together and give her a bow
as I passed my way by.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
Tries to bow back, try to figure out if it's
if she's supposed to or not, and how deep she's
supposed to bow. For those of you who don't know,
Corey's race is like bug people in a sense, like
very very Layman's.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
Term big cockroach big. I eat you for a breakfast.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
I blew one of you up on movie Zach, you're
up to bat?

Speaker 4 (14:44):
What do I have to say? I want to ask me?

Speaker 1 (14:46):
Uh name please?

Speaker 4 (14:49):
Danny, Danny dark store. You know. I bet you've heard
of me, super handsom, super cool.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Dark star. Yes, you're at the very bottom of my list,
I have you. Did you know that these are sorted
by academic achievements?

Speaker 4 (15:03):
I did, actually, Man, if you'd look, I have one
of the highest scores in the entire Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
No, it's sort of ascending, not descending. So the bottom
is is the bad, the top is the good.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
Could fool me, you know?

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Probably the smart we don't have. We don't really have
money in sun Fleet.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
We have.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
It's a reputation based system. So like accommodations are like
how you really like flex? How rich you aater? And
you are you look like you've been doing the batterman them?
What's going on with that? Dan? You feel okay? You
know I'm a licensed psychiatrist as well, so we can
but you know, I.

Speaker 4 (15:35):
Mean, they'd be fine.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
At the word psychiatrist. I break my stride and just
slowly circle around, my.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
Hands down on the table and just like alright, so
definitely male male human. There you go.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
And we're gonna go ahead and just insert and turn
head and coff please yeah, okay, And then she like
rips it out so bigger than the other ones.

Speaker 7 (16:05):
Look what other ones?

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Danny, go ahead and make me a sleight of hand
check to conceal your items.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
I clear these other dis well, I got a four.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
She got not much better than you. She got a seven.
So here's what happens. Yep, you had three scrolls, now
you got to she found one. What is this?

Speaker 4 (16:38):
So I actually have a permission slip for these?

Speaker 1 (16:41):
Yes? Can you show it to me?

Speaker 4 (16:42):
I pull out a piece of paper.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
And who's who's a signed by?

Speaker 4 (16:49):
So here's what we're gonna do.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 4 (16:52):
What's this ability called? Where at level one M I
have magical tinkering which allows me to touch a mundane
object and put in some sort of whether it be
you know, like illusion on it, you know whatever or whatever.

(17:14):
So in this one, I'm gonna do a static visual
effect appears on an object surface. The effect can be
a picture up to twenty five words of text, line, shapes,
or a mixture of these elements as you like. So
I grabbed the paper, touch it, hand it to her.
Naturally it has a completed document with a seal from
the people, you know whatever. I'm allowed to carry these

(17:37):
foreign objects?

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Which which commanding officer of the ship? Are you gonna walk?
You can just tell me the rank. The highest.

Speaker 4 (17:49):
Fuck I've been. No, it wasn't a captain. It was
the communicator one.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
The con officer. Yeah, or no, comms officer. Okay, go
ahead and make me a deception check with advantage.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
I'm actually proficient in deception. Yeah, all right, there's one,
and I got a twenty one.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Yeah, he gets you behind you, Quinton was sending me
he's still there. It's just a little head was popping up.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
He's trying to figure out how to get in the
chair with me. But there's not any room because my
ass is too fat. She got a twelve just as
long as he is too fat for the chair.

Speaker 7 (18:29):
Right.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Yes, So let's so you produce the document and it's
signed convincingly enough byle Lieutenant Phaedria Jin. She goes, oh,
you know, I fed gin she approved this. I like
she's vary bubbly.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
No. Yeah, that's why she likes me so much.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
Oh, please do not scratch my back up? Bro?

Speaker 4 (18:57):
Do I just walk this way or that way? Ah?

Speaker 2 (19:04):
Did he get you?

Speaker 1 (19:05):
I set him on the ground and he immediately freaked
out and jumped back on me, claws open.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
He's like, the ground is scary, Papa.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
I mean, dude, holy shit.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
Just so you know, if I have any issues as
far as my communication with my character, I when the
dog's got into a fight, I pressed a button and
all my information left. The entire thing so for the
past three hours was for nothing.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
I will be filling that out of your character sheet.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
You couldn't control Nope.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
Because it's a PDF that went through opened up in
website and I didn't save it because I was like,
I wanted to finish it before I saved it.

Speaker 7 (19:45):
So fair, so tragic.

Speaker 4 (19:48):
It be sad.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
You should I will be killing that out. You should
use Alex's Google Sheets character sheet. That way it'll auto save.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
So the only reason why I use this one is
because a set of officers and artificers being a class
I've ever played before. I was like, you know, this
will be really nice. I have all the information so
fair where I need it, and it's like integrated with
like checkboxes. It automatically does the math for me, like
as far as my bonuses and everything, so I don't

(20:17):
have to worry about any of that.

Speaker 8 (20:19):
So yeah, I sped to work for you if you
want to use it like everything for every class, all right, all.

Speaker 4 (20:27):
Right, if you want put the discord, I will work
on putting all my shit in that one will be great.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
Here's the most important question of the night. Now we
have to figure out what color shirts are we.

Speaker 9 (20:41):
I am red.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
Oh no no no no no no no no no
no no no no no no sorry sorry sorry, I
should have been more specific with my wording. We're going
to roll so shirts.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
Are specific to the kind of job we have.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Yeah, oh no, no, no no no, no, they're not.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
Yeah, right, security anything flight was yellow, blue was medical
I think reds Also, anything on the bridge was yellow.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
Science officer blue.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
Security was red.

Speaker 8 (21:14):
Red engineering is also there's like a certain tempary engineering
is also red.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
Oh yeah, you're correct. Okay, so we won't roll for random.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
Yeah, when we get our jobs, I assume will be
assigned to copy.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
But your incense. So you're technically not listed in any
specific department yet, So not yet, we will naturally find
a place for.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
All, probably the cargo bays, where I would like to
be for no specific reason.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Question. I'm trying to remember we talked about you being
a doctor.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
Right, I was attempting to be a counselor.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
Yeah, so there is when it when you go to
Sunfleet Academy and in Star Trek in real life, if
you're a medical professional, you actually leave, you spend extra
time at the academy, and you actually leave the academy
as a junior lieutenant and not an ensign.

Speaker 7 (22:06):
That's why what's failed flexus rank on him.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
And so if if that's what you want to do,
you are in fact a junior lieutenant at this current
moment and not okay, we can do that. We can
actually that that goes that actually goes ahead and places
you in the medical department too. Yes, soooo cool. I
read about that today when I was planning for this session,

(22:30):
when I should have been skinned.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
I get to wear a blue shirt.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
Yes, you get a blue shirt. I'm pretty sure the
rest of you were currently what color white shirts do
non officers wear Star Trek red? It's red. Red's the default,
isn't it.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
I thought, Well, the thing is in Star Trek they
also all get assign their jobs before they get put
on the ship.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Yeah that's sure. Yeah, well we're gonna do it slightly different,
So that's fine. You just have a generic shirt colors
until we naturally figure out where your characters are going
to go. I really just wanted to do it to
see which one of you was unlucky enough to get
a red shirt.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
I see, Well, me, Why I say I'm lucky to.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
Get a red shirt because red shirt always dies because
they have many of them.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
A red shirt is always the first person to die.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
Yeah, that's the that's that's that's how everything works in
Star Trek.

Speaker 7 (23:30):
No one cared about security.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
Unless you're in TNG, in which case the gold shirts
get the shaft. Yeah, and deep space for nine.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Cool. So you've all passed the medical exam and you've
been aborted.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
Some of you had and I was lucky enough not
to get probed.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
You were lucky enough not to get probed. She is
not expert enough with your species to provide you the
medical care that you need for something as trivial as this,
and there are other medical officers on board that are
more equipped to handle that. So she's not really worried
about you. Okay, you are also a medical professional, so
she assumes that you, you know, are able to give

(24:08):
yourself kind of a once over if need be.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
Yeah, check yourself for tumor bitch.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Yeah. So you've all have met up with the other
ensign recruits at this point in time. They're kind of
just some no name faces in the crowd that you're
not terribly worried about. But you have reported to the
bridge and you know, had your introduction where like they
stand you up in hallway. You get to meet the

(24:34):
captain and the officer commanding officers. This would have been
a good time for me to explain the officers and
their ranks and whatnot instead of doing it at the beginning.
But whatever, is there any role play or questions you
have for the officers while you have the chance to
speak to them?

Speaker 2 (24:51):
Ah foond it.

Speaker 10 (24:56):
Let's see, let's see, let's see.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
Yeah here, when do you what can assign to our jobs? There?
You go?

Speaker 3 (25:04):
What?

Speaker 4 (25:05):
Oh nice?

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Oh meat?

Speaker 1 (25:08):
Well, I assume we could. I guess we could. If
do you have a specific placement in mind?

Speaker 3 (25:12):
I would like to work in a cargo bay.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
I would also like to work in the cargo bay?

Speaker 3 (25:16):
Perfect? Perfect?

Speaker 2 (25:17):
Perfect?

Speaker 1 (25:19):
Okay or the other one?

Speaker 2 (25:22):
Am I getting any funny looks from the other recruits?

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Yeah, you are kind of an anomaly. It's weird to
kind of see one of your kind outside of the
Are they hive mind in spell Jammer?

Speaker 2 (25:34):
Three Crean? I do not know the three Crean. I
do not think are hive minds.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
That's right, it's still pretty weird. I remembers see you guys.
You know a lot of people there's a lot of
like prejudice and stigma based around just to your appearance.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
Yeah, I know, a walking, talking bug is usually going
to cause some funky looks wherever you go.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
Yeah, they're all pretty young and open minded. So no
one's like outright like rude to you. It's more like
people just kind of have like these preconceived notions and
so like it's like they have to forcefully make them
check themselves while they interact with you, instead of just
like falling passively on there on their biases at least

(26:14):
for now.

Alexander Damn my whole government name the I.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
Didn't say, Alexander Yance crazy all right, go ahead. The
chief security officer walks up to you and hands you
a red shirt.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
That's crazy, good luck, And then he pulls a gun
out and he shoots.

Speaker 11 (27:32):
You, and she yeah about correct, huddle Tipp. Security has
the most access on the ship. Yes, okay, yeah, I'm
taking it. I might not first, that's not bad.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
She gives you a knowing nod and then just walks
away without a word.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
I don't really know what cargo who that would be under.

Speaker 4 (27:54):
It'd probably be like job.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
Yeah, I have a feeling that'd be engineering or just grunt. Yeah,
red shirt a petty officer position. But you guys are
above that. So unfortunately you're meant for greatness.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
I'll be in charge of the cargo bed. Don't worry
about it.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
Yeah, we're going to say that that falls underneath engineering responsibilities.
So cool. So Danny and Blink, you guys are approached
by the Chief Engineering Officer, Eric Talas, the half dwarf,
half nome, and he walks with a little bit of
a gimp and is constantly talking to his parrot on

(28:35):
his shoulder. That is robotic and very quickly you're able
to realize that this is the ships AI he is
speaking to through this parrot, and he says, right, so
y'all going to be wearing my color shirts or.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
Sir, it's an honor to meet you. Your dissertation on
AI mechanics was one of my favorite things to look
at at the academy.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
Yep, yep, yep, yep. We love AI here. It's great.
Polly want a cracker any hands like a magnet to
the bird and it goes and the bird chirps like
chortles like happily a little bit, and he goes, this
is this is Ruth. The ship's a I. It stands

(29:16):
for nothing because I liked the name Ruth, and so
I named it that. Anyways, what color were was engineering shirts?

Speaker 4 (29:24):
Yo?

Speaker 1 (29:24):
Yellow? That's right?

Speaker 4 (29:26):
He sorry, sorry, I think it was red.

Speaker 7 (29:28):
I think it's ready.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
Security is red.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
Engineering Doherty's shirt.

Speaker 7 (29:36):
I'm pretty sure Scotty wears red.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Scotty does wear red, Scotty does it know that?

Speaker 7 (29:41):
Okay? Gray is security?

Speaker 2 (29:42):
Okay, Oh, Alex has a gray shirt.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
It's so cool.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
Danny and Blink have yellow shirts, and then Corey you
have a blue one.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
I thought we had, but yes, red is engineering.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Did I not say red? You said, yeah, my apologies.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
A bridge as yellow, flying as yellow, that's right, that's right.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
So me and Danny are red. Yeah, we're getting killed
for Yeah. So flashback twelve episodes from now when someone dies.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
Were like dots, very sweetheart, you'd have to really be
dead in order for me to not to bring you back.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
Oh, I don't call me sweetheart.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
This is the doctor nonchalantly chiming in as she walks past.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
Okay, that's fine if she said, as long as women
can call me whatever they want.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
Yeah. So, anyways, here's your shirts. I'll see you at
you know, oh six hundred when we wake up and
get ready to repair the we have to be the
first up. I don't know what you want. What you want? Hey,
at least we're not on call, well, you know, unless
we're gonna die. Cool, So likely an war right now though, right?

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Okay, so just a quick update. It seems that the
general consensus on it is that if you're red, your
colors I was saying. I looked it up. If you're
part of the command department, you're red, If your operations
your gold, and if your medical or science staff you
are blue.

Speaker 7 (31:20):
Yeah. It depends on what generation and Star Trek.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
Coop and that just seems to be painted with broad
strokes in the most recent generations. That seems to be
how it works. But you can adjust that as needed, boss,
I see, Yeah, since.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
This is Sunfleet, we'll just do what we already agreed upon. Yep, right, cool.
So the officers will regard you again and they leave
to fulfill their positions, and you guys are basically your
job is to get acquainted with the ship so that
you're prepared and on time for tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
This doesn't have all the racists.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
Are These three included in a group of like various
other ensigns and some such yeah, still co mingling or
they have they shuffled onto their other positions.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
So far, some of the insigns are starting to filter out,
but overall, like you guys kind of have like a
free day, so like people are still chatting, and I
would assume the rest of you are still kind of
like chillin'.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
I walk my way up to the general area where
these three are are kind of mingling, and I'm looking around,
just kind of interacting with the people, and it catches
my eye because of the teeny tiny little bird. I
look down. I look down at her. My goodness, such

(32:37):
an interesting thing to see one of your kind around here.
I believe this is my first true interaction. As you
hear the words filter into your mind blink rather than spoken,
I mean, yeah, no.

Speaker 3 (32:53):
For sure. I have a voice modulator on to translate.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
My because I can't talk. I can.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
A translator that is in my ear that corrects it
to normal common and it tends to break as.

Speaker 1 (33:16):
The As the captain leaves the room, he shouts out
over his shoulder and his and says, oh, by the way,
insign information and junior lieutenants is all unencrypted on the
ship's logs, so feel free to poke around against each
other and really familiarize yourself with your fellow compatriots and

(33:37):
their data.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
At that, I immediately turn around and get to the
nearest computer.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
She said, the hot goss.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
She she walks off, or she scuttles off.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
And I just waved my hand, and it's you. It's
exactly as the captain intended. And all of the insigns
and junior lieutenants in this room have rushed to some
sort of console and are frantically trying to look each
other to get dirt information on each other, not necessarily
in like an evil or like bad way, but like

(34:13):
where's that tea A way, like I'm not gonna let
this insign talk down to me if he scored lower
at the academy, Like there's no way I'm gonna let
that happen, Like it immediately starts to turn into that
which out of character. This is now an opportunity to
share some surface level backstory about your characters, if you
would like, and maybe like what's cool about them volunteers.

Speaker 6 (34:36):
So I am going to find as the commotion of
all of them doing their thing, I'm doing this right
the Simpsons fading into black, and I'm going to go
find the head of security.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
Okay, we'll come back to you.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
Sense. Since Blink is busy rummaging through the databases looking
at stuff, I'm assuming she crosses my my file.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
Yeah, she's like it's frantic. She's like going, like just scrolling.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
I am transferring to the piece of important information I
can find into a small notebook.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
She's doing that thing where pigs like flipping through channels
so quick, You're gonna come into.

Speaker 12 (35:19):
My dorm and it's gonna be the strings on the walls.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
Connecting them like a beautiful mind.

Speaker 3 (35:27):
Yes, I will know everything.

Speaker 1 (35:30):
Yeah, Corey, go ahead and describe what you might some
surface level stuff you might find in your file.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Service level stuff. It shows a picture of me unclad
normally when when blink is that the name? Blink blink
blink blink when blink saw me? Couldn't get a real
clear image of my appearance aside from my uniform. I'm
also I've also got my face covered by what looks
to be some sort of ritualistic shawl. My eyes poke out,

(35:58):
but that's pretty much all you can see about me,
and I bet my antennas.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
Are you self conscious about the size of your mandible?

Speaker 2 (36:06):
No, it's it's it's just religious, Carl. I'm assuming there's
like a picture of me sans the the picture of
me in the image finally also has the shawl.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
Yeah, and then it's like maybe some base information about
like what system you're from or what planet you're from.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
Yes, the planet the planet I come from doesn't actually
possess a known name, or at least not one recognized
by sun Fleet, which is which is noticeable. It's just
kind of given a string of like generic numbers. Apparently
some fleet named it that because they couldn't figure out
what we were trying to call it.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
Yeah, it's like the first time you interacted, they like
tried to speak the name in their native Yeah.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
No it yeah, like the name didn't translate very well.
If you ask me directly, you I could probably give
you a clear, clearer translation. But Starfleet or sun not
star Fleet. Sun Fleet at the time didn't did not,
did not fully understand what we were trying to tell them.
That first interaction was very much, you know, a lot

(37:12):
of general concepts and pantomiming kind of thing.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
Gotcha, Let's get down to the juicy stuff. Yes, all right,
So here's my question. Here's how we're going to do this.
Your your academy scores, all right, Basically there's a class
category for each of your ability scores, and so like
your overall class academy scores is just an average of

(37:35):
your ability score number. So strength. So in the academy,
what was your what's the word here, what was your
I don't want to say weightlifting class, but like, what
was your your strength class score? And just just tell
us what your actual base.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
Number is like to what our stat is.

Speaker 1 (37:56):
Yeah, your strength, your strength, not the modifier, but physical
education grade. Your education grade? Yeah, twelve's for strength. Cool,
So I'm gonna this is going to be important later,
So twelve, yes, all right? What was your gymnastics score?

Speaker 4 (38:13):
Nineteen Jesus all right, that's base that's base score.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
What was your conditioning score?

Speaker 2 (38:21):
Fourteen?

Speaker 1 (38:23):
All right? What's next? Intelligence?

Speaker 2 (38:26):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (38:26):
All right, what was your what was your what was
your academic score?

Speaker 2 (38:30):
Ten?

Speaker 4 (38:31):
Oh, it all makes sense.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
Ombstats dumbsess?

Speaker 1 (38:39):
What's a good wisdom parody here to like?

Speaker 3 (38:43):
School history?

Speaker 8 (38:45):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (38:47):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (38:47):
Sure? What was your historic classes?

Speaker 2 (38:50):
Fourteen?

Speaker 1 (38:51):
Fourteen? And then finally, what was your assessed assessed people
skills score? Public speaking? Eight? All right? Remind me of
your full name again, vull Nack. Vullnack. You have an
average academy graduation grade of twelve point eight.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
Yeah, I'm assuming there was a lot of, you know,
barriers between both species and communication that caused some issues
for sure.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
All right, we write you down twelve point eighty three.
All right, who else are we gonna? Who are gonna
do next?

Speaker 3 (39:36):
You can do me, aren't. It's all going to be
pretty much the same since we're going off a point by.

Speaker 4 (39:42):
Yeah, well, they won't be the same, but they'll be like, well, generally.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
Can be the same numbers repeated just in different spot.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
Do you think the average is going to be the same.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
I think so. Let me see.

Speaker 4 (39:53):
Roughly, Yeah, because you added up and then you will
find it.

Speaker 2 (39:56):
The comment will the only difference will be from the
ability score increases and racial increases.

Speaker 1 (40:03):
What was yours? Hannah?

Speaker 2 (40:04):
My?

Speaker 3 (40:05):
What did you say?

Speaker 2 (40:07):
My strength is eight?

Speaker 1 (40:08):
No? Your average so at all? I didn't do the
math at all? Six together and divide it by six.

Speaker 4 (40:13):
Oh. Although Corey's right, if it if it goes.

Speaker 1 (40:17):
Off of like, there should still be some slight are
racial stuff.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
If we're on, if we're on point by, we should
have all started with the exact same numbers in different locations.
Mixing that with just increases from ability score boosts and racials,
the difference would be negligible.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
Yeah, I'm seven one point seven. I see some savill
necks smarter than you.

Speaker 3 (40:40):
Okay, but I'm cooler than him.

Speaker 4 (40:43):
That's fair.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
You're a little bird. I'm a big bug.

Speaker 1 (40:47):
Uh yeah, basically I was. What I was trying to
do is like come up with the final grades, which
is how the ensigns are kind of gonna base their
hierarchy off of if that makes sense, because they're they're
basically are just a bunch of like most of them
are a bunch of high school graduates to a degree.

Speaker 4 (41:03):
Well, wouldn't we just need to take the intelligence and
strength score because that's all people really care about, academic prowess.

Speaker 1 (41:11):
That's truly where that's true, that's true. I like that.

Speaker 4 (41:13):
So we just take those two and then whoever has
the highest just some I guess would probably be better.

Speaker 1 (41:19):
Yeah, So everybody average your strength and intelligence scores and
tell me what.

Speaker 7 (41:23):
The numbers are averagers.

Speaker 1 (41:26):
Add them together by two average.

Speaker 10 (41:29):
Average, Yeah, eleven, okay, eleven, okay, Okay, he's not smart, though,
I mean we're the same.

Speaker 4 (41:41):
Z that twenty O.

Speaker 1 (41:43):
Hey wait, you'd have to have a twenty in both
of those stats in order for it.

Speaker 4 (41:48):
Well, you said divided by two. You said, added up
and divided by two.

Speaker 1 (41:51):
Add strength score. What's your strength score?

Speaker 4 (41:55):
Strength is thirteen?

Speaker 1 (41:56):
Okay? And what's your intelligence score?

Speaker 4 (41:59):
Sixteen?

Speaker 1 (42:00):
So I had thirteen and sixteen, it's twenty nine. Divide
that by two.

Speaker 4 (42:05):
Okay, So I did my math a little wrong. So
my character doesn't reflect on my go.

Speaker 3 (42:13):
Alright fourteen point fourteen point five hy He's still smart though.

Speaker 2 (42:17):
Yeah, I'm a medical officer twelve twelve dany Hey, Luckily, Luckily,
the fortune that I'm supposed to work in does a
revolve around my actual intelligence. It requires yeah, other it does.

Speaker 1 (42:32):
You You got selected for your not only you got
to keep in mind this is through the lens of
a just graduated cadet. It's basically like, I only care
about the cool grade.

Speaker 2 (42:46):
A junior whatever, am I is my score still up there?

Speaker 1 (42:49):
Yes, us includes junior lieutenants and instance is what the
captain said. Okay, blink, what's some surface level information about
your care or that would be in your file?

Speaker 3 (43:02):
I probably have like a couple of little like red
flag dings of couple criminal offenses.

Speaker 12 (43:09):
Nothing extreme time, Yeah, just a couple of misdemeanors. It's fine,
that's probably it. I don't think I have very much
exciting things. I mean, I am related to a great
hero of our past.

Speaker 1 (43:24):
Yep, two hundred years in the past. Great hero you
might know the name of her.

Speaker 3 (43:29):
Dink Oh big Claes.

Speaker 4 (43:35):
That's crazy.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
I love that. Actually, yes, hundred years ago?

Speaker 1 (43:42):
Is that though.

Speaker 3 (43:44):
I think it's more than two hundred.

Speaker 2 (43:46):
I think it's like five.

Speaker 4 (43:48):
Who not only became the princess of the Monkey Village
but also yeah.

Speaker 3 (43:55):
Think the icon, the legend.

Speaker 2 (43:58):
Wow, Thedinker, it's an honor to meet you.

Speaker 3 (44:01):
Really, I'm named after her.

Speaker 1 (44:05):
Oh, Danny, what's the file?

Speaker 4 (44:12):
That's just a photo of me and then a whole
bunch of redacted paperwork, So better luck next time. It's
a really high score.

Speaker 1 (44:24):
There's a bunch of ensigns standing around, like what the fuck?
How come this guy doesn't have to have a record.

Speaker 3 (44:29):
It wasn't descending on.

Speaker 2 (44:31):
It's not that his record is empty. It's redacted, which
means whatever's in there is sensitive need to know information.
And everyone's like.

Speaker 1 (44:39):
What, it's just a bunch of like information to stop
people from figuring out he's like a NEPO baby or something.

Speaker 3 (44:48):
Link trying to wipe away the redaction, like covering what
is this?

Speaker 2 (44:55):
All the all the ensigns are freaking out because there's
only two situations where you get redacted information on your file.
Especially if the file is completely redacted, you are a
like some special ops super super agent or b. You
have done something really really sketch in your history that

(45:21):
your mere presence can cause some sort of like horrible
legal issue. So everyone's I assume as everyone's like freaking
out squizzy urbious.

Speaker 1 (45:35):
You continue to flip through until you get to to
G's file and it is similarly redacted.

Speaker 4 (45:44):
Interesting page is loaded, You can load dinosaur, do you
jump them? The only person who might have access to
my file would be someone high up in the security.

Speaker 1 (46:00):
It would probably be obviously all the captains, the bridge
officers and whatnot. Yeah, but they'd have to be pretty
high up, and I'm part of the outside of that.
Cuck cool cool cool, So moving on, you all go
to your bunks. You each share rooms with one other person,
and it is based off gender.

Speaker 4 (46:20):
What is everyone's class? Can I know or we keep this?

Speaker 1 (46:23):
Oh yeah, we can tell each other's classes.

Speaker 3 (46:25):
I bet you can guess mine.

Speaker 1 (46:27):
I bet you.

Speaker 2 (46:28):
Oh wait, so are we saying like no end character
or out of character?

Speaker 1 (46:32):
Out of character? What your classes?

Speaker 9 (46:34):
I'm dual class the ranger and wizard.

Speaker 1 (46:38):
Okay, so your file just says like some really fluffy
stuff like serve time as all the forest.

Speaker 8 (46:46):
It's like, what's a forest ranger? Gods that were like
or it's black ink. Which one they'll be doing?

Speaker 9 (46:52):
Are you two in Ranger and two? I'm three three
Ranger two Wizard?

Speaker 1 (47:00):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (47:01):
What's subclass I want? I'm was doming for Ranger for both.

Speaker 1 (47:07):
I don't have a subclass.

Speaker 8 (47:08):
I have a school for Wizard, but the Ranger is
Undra Conclave Colossus Layer, and then Wizard is now Illumination Enchantment,
School of Enchantment.

Speaker 4 (47:27):
What's the highest level spell you have access to?

Speaker 7 (47:30):
One?

Speaker 6 (47:32):
One?

Speaker 3 (47:32):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (47:33):
One or no?

Speaker 1 (47:35):
Cory, what's your classes?

Speaker 2 (47:37):
My class? I'm just a straight monk.

Speaker 1 (47:38):
Okay, nice, nice, nice, I like it, Hannah.

Speaker 3 (47:42):
It says are already rogue.

Speaker 1 (47:43):
Oh yeah, yeah? What subclass did you go with? And Corey,
what some class did you go with? Are you talking about?

Speaker 2 (47:49):
Like my monastic?

Speaker 1 (47:51):
Yeah? Your subclass open hand? Don't make me shoot myself.
That's the fun one where you get to touch somebody
and then they die twenty four hours later. Oh yeah,
I remember, Hannah, you picked what smuggler?

Speaker 10 (48:11):
No reason, I just have to work into cargo Bay.

Speaker 4 (48:18):
I feel like if you of us are gonna have
some overlapping h some overlapping concepts here. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (48:25):
Listen, business runs thick.

Speaker 11 (48:29):
Security, walks in okay, walks out, uh, and finally's out.

Speaker 4 (48:35):
I'm an artificer. If you couldn't tell by the cootation earlier,
a battle smith.

Speaker 1 (48:44):
He'd be making things.

Speaker 4 (48:46):
I've been making things. I'd be putting things together.

Speaker 2 (48:48):
I'll be breaking up.

Speaker 4 (48:50):
I'll be blowing it up.

Speaker 1 (48:51):
Cool, so you I'll report to your bunks. Unfortunately, Blink,
you're with a random NPC and Danny and Corey's.

Speaker 4 (49:01):
CA also should probably get my owner who.

Speaker 1 (49:04):
I keep forgetting the name of bull Knack, bull Nack,
I need to write that down.

Speaker 4 (49:09):
He's racist.

Speaker 2 (49:09):
You can just call me NACA vernacular.

Speaker 1 (49:13):
Oh here, I know what to do. I'm just gonna
nickname you Nash. So quick.

Speaker 3 (49:18):
Question, is Corey's kind usually good people?

Speaker 1 (49:21):
That sounds like a question you need ask him.

Speaker 7 (49:24):
Okay, I'm asking you the.

Speaker 2 (49:26):
Group I came from, our good people. I'm sting my
species can be is just as diverse as any group
of people. However, our way of thinking tends to be
pretty alien, d'all? Where is it?

Speaker 1 (49:42):
Wridge put it? It shows a budge of discord. Name
now in the chat or in.

Speaker 2 (49:46):
Oh yeah, no, there's a C before the K Okay,
like that that's better.

Speaker 1 (49:53):
Yeah, cool, Now I won't forget who. So unfortunately and Danny,
you both do not get trone rooms. Danny's bunking with Vunac,
and G you are bunking with random person.

Speaker 2 (50:11):
All right, but yeah, G sorry, but this is gonna
be kind of tight.

Speaker 4 (50:15):
I throw a little thing, a crystal button, and throw
a thing and then my my defender pops.

Speaker 1 (50:21):
Out your defender. Can you elaborate on that?

Speaker 3 (50:24):
So with your defender.

Speaker 4 (50:26):
As an artificer of my level and my specialty, I
have a steel defender that can look like, you know,
all kinds of things, but it's actually boils down to
I guess, a robot like battle campaign of a mind
taking the form of a suit of arm. I see,

(50:48):
like an old suit of armor that's been like upgraded
and looks a little more steampunky. I see, I have
the statlet, the stab block, and everything for it if
you need it.

Speaker 1 (50:59):
Is that one of your thingies?

Speaker 3 (51:02):
What?

Speaker 4 (51:03):
No, it's it's just like a pet. It's like a
companion where you get that from battlesmithing by a third level,
your tingering is born you a faithful companion, a steel defender.
It's friendly to you and your companions, and it obeys
your commands. See it's game statistics and steel Defender's tablock
jus your proficiency bonus in several places. I see, I
can determine the creature's appearance, whether it has two legs

(51:23):
four legs, It doesn't really matter. My choice has no
effect on its game statistics. In combat, the Defender shares
your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours.
It can move and use its reaction on its own,
but the only action it takes on its own is
the dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on
your turn to command it to take another action.

Speaker 1 (51:41):
I see, So it kind of looks however you want it.

Speaker 4 (51:43):
So you said, yeah, and it doesn't make a difference
as far as gameplay goes. What it looks like?

Speaker 1 (51:47):
Yeah, what did you say?

Speaker 4 (51:49):
Like an old suit of armor that looks upgraded in
futuristic tech?

Speaker 7 (51:54):
I see, Beam, Punky, See.

Speaker 1 (51:55):
You've got like an Iron Man suit that follows you
around everywhere?

Speaker 4 (51:58):
More like Alphonzel type of type.

Speaker 3 (52:00):
Deal?

Speaker 1 (52:01):
Okay, I see
