En Marzo celebramos el Mes Internacional de la Mujer. Es difícil imaginar una sociedad donde la influencia de nosotras las mujeres no se hace ver o sentir. Increible no?
Marzo tambien es reconocido como el Mes donde hacemos hincapié en la detección del cancer de colon. Cáncer de colon ocupa el tercer lugar en incidencia (Seno y pulmon son el primero y segundo, respectivamente). También ocupa el segundo lugar como causa de muerte, cancer de pulmón continua siendo el numbero uno.
Aunque nuestro historial familiar y genético influye grandemente en nuestros riesgos, hay pasos que podemos tomar para no solo disminuir nuestros riesgos, pero tambien poder ayudar a que sea detectado en sus comienzos. Una detección temprana aumenta nuestros chances de sobrevivir esta condición y mejora nuestro prognosis.

In March, we celebrate us, women! Our contributions to society on a daily basis is undeniable. Do you realize that even though we are still fighting for equality, there is not one aspect of society that is not touched or influenced by women! That is amazing, isn't it?
March is also Colon Cancer Awareness Month. Did you know that according to American Cancer Society and other agencies, colon cancer is third in incidence in the United States. Breast cancer and lung cancer occupy the first and second place, respectively. In addition, colon cancer represents the second cause of death from cancer reasons in the USA. Lung cancer remained in the first place
Although we can't escape genetics, there are steps we can take to help early detection and timely intervention. Both steps will significantly improve our outcome and prognosis for a healthy, satisfactory life.
