Season 4, Episode 22 - Debra Hallum from 1972 Women's Sports Pub

We're joined in this episode by, Debra Hallum, one of the co-owners of the 1972 Women's Sports Pub in Austin, TX.

The 1972, which opened earlier this year, derived its name from the year in which United States' Title IX law was implemented which, in part, prohibited sex-based discrimination. This led to a boom in women's sports which has only intensified in the past several years.

The 1972 follows in the footsteps of other famous women's sports bars like The Sports Bra (Portland, OR), Rough and Tumble (Seattle, WA), and A Bar of Their Own (Minneapolis, MN), that continue to open nationwide.

The concept of 1972 is simple: All televisions will be tuned to women's sports, college and professional;local and international. Unlike the era Hallum grew up in, there won't be an issue getting a female sporting event on one of the big screens.

There's food and beverage available and, whenever possible, 1972 buys from female-owned and/or female-led providers.
