We're joined in this episode by retired Detroit-area dentist, Dr. Carl Papa. Carl's sports fan journey begins back in 1961 with his beloved Detroit Tigers and some of his his favorite players like Jake Wood, Chico Fernandez, and Steve Boros.
Along the way, we learn of Carl's affinity for all things University of Michigan Wolverines and for tennis. Among the highlights of his spectating years has been witnessing Tigers' pitcher, Denny McLain, win his 30th game on September 14, 1968 against the Oakland A's; the 1971 MLB All Star Game at Tiger Stadium that featured 26 future Baseball Hall of Famers; a Detroit Red Wings Stanley Cup clincher; and several U.S. Open Tennis Championships dating back to 1981.
