In advance of host Doug Hill's Around the World in 80 Sporting Events visit to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, his guest in this bonus episode is the Hall of Fame's Communications' Director, Craig Muder.
A Pittsburgh Pirates fan as a child, Muder briefly discusses what the 2025 induction of Pittsburgh legend Dave Parker (who died prior to enshrinement day) was like for him before sharing the story about how this baseball Shangri-La found its way to a tiny village in central New York.
We also learn a bit more about the bucolic village of Cooperstown - year-round population approximately 1,650 - and how it navigates over a quarter-million visitors each year (about two-thirds of whom visit during the summer). In addition to the Baseball HoF, Craig lists must-sees as the Fenimore Art Museum and Otsego Lake.
At the Hall, Craig notes two of the newer exhibit installations include the Yakyu Baseball as well as Viva Baseball!
