It's hard to describe. That feeling in your chest as the music reaches within, grasping your core, sending vibrations throughout your entire being. When nothing exists but you and that rhythm as you melt and connect into something primal. Coromind has a heart for giving and spreading joy, bringing people back to their true nature to experience life as we were designed, centred in creation.

Another great adventure from Ross Liggins, this time about his time in Saudi Arabia: "The camel market was interesting, except when I was given a cup of fresh, warm camel milk which I was assured was excellent for health. I drank it politely, trying to smile and not spit it out. A camel seller told me that..."

Great Mercury Island / Ahuahu – 1872 hectares, basically two islands, one rhyolitic and the other andesitic, joined by a tombolo (natural sand isthmus) in the centre on which once stood great native conifer and coastal trees. At the time of my employment in 2016, Great Mercury Island had only just been officially recognised as a pest-free island, after a major pest eradication in 2014 focused primarily on rats, but also feral cats....

I am an artist whose creative journey began over 20 years ago, when a close friend encouraged me to explore the world of painting. Starting with oils, I soon discovered the beauty and versatility of other mediums, which has led to a unique and ever-evolving artistic practice.

Coromind On Air started with a simple idea: turn the camera on, hit record, and let the community speak. Whether it’s a conversation with an artist, a panel of candidates before the elections, or a local band performing under the stars, Coromind On Air is becoming a space where voices from across Hauraki-Coromandel can meet and be heard.

Some places just get things right. Atmosphere, top service, delicious food, and something to keep everyone entertained. The Aviator in Thames is one of those places.

When I first met Murray Rainey, aka Muzza, what struck me wasn’t just his elegant, well-balanced pottery. It was the tidiness of his studio. It was spotless. Not in a clinical way, but in a way that made you feel calm. Safe, even...

Being outside and connecting with the environment is one of my favourite things to do with my children. Helping them learn how to respect nature is incredibly rewarding. Ra knows not to touch bees because he might get a mamae (hurt) so he waves at them and says “Hi bee” in the cutest toddler voice. He also says hi to the flowers.

A while ago I was very fortunate to be selected to travel to Japan, representing New Zealand, at the Local Government Exchange and Cooperation Seminar, in Kōhoku, a town in Saga Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. Whilst there is much to write about … it was the collective responsibility felt by the citizens, working together for the betterment of all, which had the most profound effect on me.

Listen: punk rock agitates, but it always has something to say. Ever since it cursed and spat its way into the beige and regimented mindset of the mid-70s, it’s been loud in calling out the bullshit and challenging the rules. Bands like Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, and The Clash in the UK, and Ramones, Television, and Richard Hell and the Voidoids in the US, were, respectively, fearless in their rejection of establishment, corporate mai...

The rock lay at the top of the bush, at the eastern end of the farm. Nick and I found it one day, though we had not been searching for it. We had crossed the road from my father’s house, into an area of bush that clung to the side of the hill like limpets to the hull of an upturned ship...

Algorithms are the secret sauce behind every social media feed, and they trap us in ‘echo chambers’, bubbles where we keep seeing the same types of opinions, making it easy to reinforce what we already believe and harder to understand different points of view – where everyone agrees with you or, worse, push you towards more extreme content.
