A quick update between the recording and today, PayPal announced a rebranding of their PayPal credit product as “Pay-By-4”, to go head to head with AfterPay and the other competitors in the Buy Now Pay Later market – impacting on the 8% retraction in the AfterPay shareprice in the last 24 hours.
This move by PayPal, with a significantly larger customer & merchant base, will prove a real threat to the BNPL players, as PayPal can leverage more advanced data & analytics across a customer base of over 300 million active users.
